Any way to be able to view videos inside the browser? - Ubuntu Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I noticed that inside the Ubuntu touch browser your not able to view/watch videos from YouTube or other website.
Is there a way to fix that ?
Or maybe the devellopement is just not there yet?

The Ubuntu Touch web browser will not support Flash videos, but it should support any modern site that provides HTML5 videos.
However, HTML5 video support is still in development, but if you are interested you can track the progress in this bug report: launchpad.net/bugs/1197699 (sorry for the non-clickable link, I'm too new to XDA to be able to post links).

Have you tried Jetvd, that's what I use. Hasn't been available in the market for a while but google-able.

Tubemate, using on CM9 without a problem.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
Maybe try using a user script (usersscripts.org) which allows you to download the video, possibly also the audio track? These are snippets of Javascript which inject themselves into specific sites when you're viewing them. I use one named "YouTube to MP4" on Firefox on my desktop PC. Since the Android browsers are fully functional I expect the same option applies there.
For this option, Firefox requires Greasemonkey addon, but I believe it's a native option on Opera and Chrome.
Also try tubeGod(tubex) its no longer in the market so you have to search for it(its free so no problems)
Much better quality than tubemate imo and mp3s dont come as large as tubemate either
I extracted the audio from a video a few days ago
Tubemate(17mb)
TubeGod(1mb)

Tubemate's file size is big because it downloads the whole MP4 video and renames it as MP3.

Yes it has been troublesome for Android ICS 4.x, in general.
Yeah, I prefer the friendcaster app, it's worked much smoother and you can make it light letters on dark backround which is easier on battery and eyes.
Facebook stinks on this tablet....even on any browser it lags ...also u cant video chat from browser like pc

Facedroid is pretty sweet
Thank you for posting this! This is 10 times better than using Facebook in a browser or using the dreaded dedicated app!
I should warn you guys. Any app that is not THE facebook app will be suspect to facebook API privacy. That means if your friends have not changed default settings, or have setup facebook to not show info about them through the API, you won't be able to see certain things on their page, or be able to do anything with their page through this app. I noticed this first with the xbox 360 app, and then the friendcaster app. Some of my friends had no pictures at all. Just be aware of that.

BBC iPlayer app redirecting to website

The help page on the bbc says that it does this for android 3 tablets but doesnt say anything about android 4..
Then when you go to the website it wont let you watch live tv... which is really annoying..
Is everyone else in the uk getting this, or found a workaround?

Use dolphin browser and set to view the desktop site. Works for me.

Mmm. Tried that... didnt work for me.

[EDIT - Haha...dolphin sort of works if I go to the iplay site manually.. although it did keep freezing.. trying stock browser with "request desktop site" checked.. and that works too.]
a couple of questions please
Does it mean that the iPlayer natively only works on Honeycomb but not ICS? I have not updated to ICS yet.
Has anyone managed to get SkyGo working on Sony Tablet S please. I get error 9 and 10 on Honeycomb Wifi model.
The 'Request desktop site' button just changes the user agent and refreshs the current tab you are on.

For a start what is the exact problem? And second what version of Android are you using? Flash can be problematic on JB because it's not officially supported now.
YouTube works because I believe it can use HTML 5 which updated Android browsers support

Hi guys, I use VIPBox all the time for games on my tablet. I dont get any issues. Make sure you use the original vipbox .(vipleague.se) theres a few fake copies that arent as good and i'm unsure if that may have any effect on the browser. :victory:

Can you watch video in desktop mode ? (sm-t805)

it's seem like i can't play video in desktop mode with stock browser or even chrome .. do you have the same issue like mine ?
and i don't see any 1080p or 2k or 4k option

Flash does not work anymore, unless you use a browser that still supports it. Otherwise, all mobile compatible videos work for me.
