Issue with phone auto-opening a music app when it Bluetooth connects to vehicle - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So I recently acquired a new vehicle with Bluetooth. When I enter the vehicle and the phone does the initial connection.....the phone automatically opens the music app and starts to play music. I am a huge Howard Stern fan and mainly listen to his show from a downloaded MP3 on my phone. I do not use the native music app for Howard because his shows are 4+ hours long and the native music app does not have bookmarks. So I use Astro Player Pro. It works great with really long tracks and bookmarking.
So the problem is that when the vehicle connects the phone opens the native music app and not Astro Player Pro. Sometime I can even enter the car with Astro Player open and when it connects it will override Astro Player Pro and open the native music app. I checked to see if I could change the default player and it appears as though I cannot.
Do I have any options here? Anyway to make it open Astro Player Pro? Or at least not open the native app at all?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

This is the only setting that can be changed in reference to BT audio connection. I changed it to Portable Player.

I would also like to know if there is a fix for this. Mine does it when I have both my phone's paired to the same Bluetooth, And when I hang up my other phone, my evo music player automatically turns on. So annoying.

thanks my english is not good

Not sure if this helps or not, but I use a car dock with my Bluetooth radio. I had to launch the Car app, then go to the settings by tapping in the signal/battery area. From there, uncheck the Auto Play option. You can add shortcuts to music apps by opening up the music application (not in car mode) and selecting add shortcut from the menu. Once you do that, the shortcut will now show up in the Music Apps section of car mode. Hope this helps.

If you have Tasker, you can probably set a task to auto-kill the app on connect to the Bluetooth address. I had to do this on my Sense-based ROMs, but ymmv. It can be finicky.

[Q] stop music from automatically starting on bluetooth connection

Does anyone know how to stop my music from automatically starting when i connect my phone via bluetooth to my car stereo? it's incredibly annoying. i just want my phone to connect to my car and i will start playing music if and when i feel like it. it's so annoying that it starts up every single time i get in my car and turn the bluetooth on....... thanks!
Remove the "media" link or "bluetooth headset" link in your bluetooth settings on your phone or your car:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=10684
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5134
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-sup...when-connected-via-bluetooth.html#post2323205
Install an app specifically for this:
One was mentioned in comment 49 of the first bug report link above.
There's also one called Headset Blocker.
I'm sure there are many others as well.
Use a profile/event app like Tasker: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/146722-using-tasker-fix-headset-music-autostart-issue.html.
Disable event using the Autostarts app.
Some media apps have the ability to disable autoplay on bluetooth built in.

[Q] Stop playing on disconnect

Hi,
Before custom ROMS were built on ICS, when I was listening to streaming music in my car (via bluetooth), the phone would automatically stop playing when the car turned off. Same thing if I'm listening to music and I pull the headphones out, whatever was playing gets paused.
Now, when I turn my car off, the music doesn't stop playing, it just starts playing through the phone's speaker.
So my question is, is it the ROM that makes a player pause on disconnect or is it the actual APP that decides to either stop or keep playing through the speaker.
I know PowerAMP has options to auto play and auto stop on disconnect, but other apps like youtube, Audiostation (for my synology NAS) and a few others don't have settings.

I think the fact that some apps have the option indicates that at very least, the app does have some control over it. I don't know if the ROM/kernel have some default setting built in for apps that don't define it.
It seems to be a feature missing in ICS. I'm hoping it shows up by the final update.
I use Tasker to accomplish the same thing. The whole task for media is when I plug headphones in, it launches a menu with media apps (music, netflix, etc) and turns the media volume up to 6. When disconnected, it mutes media volume, pauses media, and returns to the homescreen.
I'll take a look at that in the interim, all I really need is it just to pause on BT disconnect like it use to. The is already a separate volume setting for BT vs the headphone jack. Thanks for the tip.
That's interesting, I didn't know tasker had something to pause media. I'll definitely give that a try.
I believe that was an AOSP tweak..my Inc running CM7 would pause on bluetooth disconnect.

Music app and Bluetooth

Hi. I use Rdio as my main music app. Whenever I plug my car stereo to my phone via Bluetooth I tries to play a song from the Play Music app. Since I doesn't have any songs in it, have to take my phone off my pocket and start Rdio manually. And of course I can't control the songs nor they appear the name correctly.
Is there anyway to make Rdio the main app so it starts automatically?
Is there a way to control (play, pause, change songs) and make it show the name on the screen?
Thank you very much.

Bluetooth audio question with a new car.

Hello,
So I had an older car that didn't have bluetooth. I added my own bluetooth module to the aux in in that car and when my phone would pair audio wouldn't automatically play from any app. I would choose one and it would start. Now I just bought a newer car that has bluetooth built into the car and when I start my car it will open poweramp and start playing. Most of the time I listen to pandora so I have to stop poweramp and start pandora. I uninstalled poweramp and it automatically starts pandora now. I have all of the autoplay settings in poweramp disabled. Is there a way to pick which app will play music on connect?
If it matters I'm running Paranoidandroid 3.99RC2

Realistically you should be able to go into Bluetooth settings, long press on the device that is paired, and change the media functions. I have a spyder so can't test this out for you sorry. But that's the way all other bluetoothes work (minus headsets)

[Q] music player app to use with bluetooth

What music player app do you use for bluetooth in your car?
I'm trying to find a player that will work with bluetooth in my car but every player I tried doesn't work in my car. No song info is shown and I can't change songs on the steering wheel, everytime I do it pauses and I can't get to play again through the car.
The stock player does all that but it doesn't have a good eq like poweramp or the fading options like that.
I've tried playerpro, rocket music player, jetaudio, and n7player but none of them work with bluetooth
N7 works over Bluetooth for me. Same with Google Play and numerous streamers like Pandora and Songza to name a few.

I have never had this problem ever, on several devices and cd players. But, my habitual usage includes Google play music app. It works well enough for me, and is fast on hsdpa or better.

Any player should work over BT. Once your connection is up, just navigate to the player and you should be good to go. Since BT is just providing the A2DP connection, the player doesn't care where the music is being sent to. It just plays it to the audio out source. I think your problem is your headunit, but can't be 100% sure. My players (all of them, both streaming and non-streaming) work on any BT car I've connected too. Some cars won't display the album cover art and so forth, but the music comes across just fine.
Well any music app will play music, but I can't seem to change the song from my headunit, it has to be changed from the phone. Changing songs from the car will pause it everytime.
I would like this feature to work with my car on an app like poweramp
For me, All the controls work from steering wheel for every music player I used (from stock to ASOP) May be it depends on car stereo too.
