Because I noticed that there are enough problems on the kernels I decided to open this thread just for this.

How I've said in the official thread of CM 0.32, when i try to use the 318Mb ram Kernel, my wave (S8500) restart Bada after badadroid logo why?
I follow this steps:
1. With original Zimage i've wiped cache anche dalvik cache
2. Reboot (Bada) holding power key
3. Put Zimage with 318Mb of ram (It replace original Zimage)
4. Switch off phone and start android

- Reboot the phone holding Power and Call key.
FOTA set of red messages SHOULD Appear, after about 15seconds Badadroid logo Shows up.
-Be patient, first bootup on Badadroid logo unresponsible Will keep for up to 5 minutes.
-CWM Recovery starts, pick:
- install zip from sdcard
- choose zip from sdcard - cm-10-wave- . Zip

318mb kernel does not work because it is not compatible with your sd.
I have the same problem as you, my 32gb SD does not work with this kernel.
if you put a different SD (2GB) the kernel works perfectly
and report to mylove90

Thank you for clarification

I'm trying to compile kernel.
My problems are:
1) In wave_defconfig
Code:
CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE="source/usr/wave_initramfs.list"
This directory doesn't exist in kernel branch. {github.com/Rebell/android_kernel_samsung_wave}
I copied /usr/ to new catalog source.
2)
Code:
[email protected]:~/Desktop/wave/kernel/samsung/wave$ make
CHK include/linux/version.h
CHK include/generated/utsrelease.h
make[1]: `include/generated/mach-types.h' is up to date.
CALL scripts/checksyscalls.sh
CHK include/generated/compile.h
GEN usr/initramfs_data.cpio
File ../../ramdisk.img could not be opened for reading
line 32
File ../../ramdisk-recovery.img could not be opened for reading
line 33
make[1]: *** [usr/initramfs_data.cpio] Error 255
make: *** [usr] Error 2
I couldn't find these files in any branch. I'm using arm-linux-androideabi-4.4.3 / 4.6 / 4.7 toolchain and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Hey
Glad to see you trying
CM 10 kernel goes with the ROM so you have to either download the whole repo or figure out how to use pre-compiled initramfs
I am attaching ramdisk.img & ramdisk-recovery.img for you....let me know if you got luck with those
Best Regards

What do you need????
- root permission.
- a second partition on your SD card.
You should have two partitions on SD card and both should be primary.
The first FAT partition is your standard SD card storage. The second partition is used for application files and can be ext2, ext3, ext4 or FAT32.
Some phones lack the ext2, ext3 or ext4 file system support and you may get mount errors like "no such device", "invalid argument". These phones need ext2.ko or ext3.ko modules and even some additional modules to be able to mount. Using FAT32 on the second partition will eleminate such problems, because FAT32 is supported on all phones.
Link2SD does not create the second partition, you need to create it yourself. You can use any partition manager such as Minitool, Paragon, Easeus etc. for this. ( I RECOMMEND MiniTool Partition Wizard Home 7 ).
How it works????
Link2SD mounts the second partition of your SD card as /data/sdext2 and makes OS mounts it at boot time.
When you select an application and press "Create Link" button you can select which files of the application will be linked and moved to SD card. Apk, dex and lib files can be moved and you can select all three or any two of three or even only one of them.
Depending on what you select, Link2SD moves apk file, dalvik-cache (.dex) file and lib files (.so) to SD card's second partition and creates symbolic links in original directories.

nice review.. nice tweaks there
i need to know, what is exactly the base kernel that you use in coffebun there? is it the 2.4.3 (405 kernel) or olleh (406 kernel)?
is there any edit/tweakin the build.prop script?
is any bugfixs there? such as sod, random reboot, etc that i found in gs 2.4.3
however, i'm interesting (hungry) to test it
nice job my friend
Great job, would like to give it a try however i could not download through 4shared lol... Just 1 question, have you manage to get the ussd code working?
thank you.
@ ivantastic
Baseband: 406
Kernel: 2.4.3 with internal tun vpn support
Build.Prop: Some entries from Nitro Lag were added to make it as a default on my built.
So far, didn't experience SOD & random reboot yet.. (using this for about a week now before i planned to post it here.)
@ marketblack
-> can't tell about the USSD Code thing since i don't use it here in Manila... You can try it and give me some feedback...

sorry, nubie question here..
is that the 406 bb or the rom that make it stable?
& i see that huge size file ±178mb there, i just think what files is inside coffebun.zip that make it so huge?

oh... i'm sorry, i mean the 406 baseband,..
what do you think? is the 406 baseband or the rom itself that make it stable? because, as i know (cmiiw) the gs2.4.3 has it own baseband...
about the files inside the package that you added there, i'm sure it'll be bonus point nice job my friend
@ivantastic
-> yes, i used the 406 baseband. 406 is a baseband buddy... that's was used as well by _n0p_ in his ROM.
Correct me if i'm wrong
GS2.4.x uses 405 baseband / DSP
DSC v0.55b uses 406 baseband / DSP
Maxicet's ROM uses 405 baseband / DSP
DJ Steve posted 3 versions of 2.4.3 (MAIN ROM, ARABIC MOD & kernel with internal tun vpn support)
Mine... I used 406 baseband / DSP + kernel with internal tun vpn support provided by DJ Steve... And i guess it's a good combination instead of using 405 baseband & dsp. I just mixed stuffs from ALL the ROMS that i mentioned above.
@ivantastic
sorry.. double post....

For best result, start from a fresh install ROM. (use ROM not converted by older BMM)
If coming from 0.2.9/0.3.0a:
- move 1st-system /data/media/cache.img to /data/media/virtual/system_1/cache.img
- move 2/3/4/5 system data from /{internal/external storage}/bmm/system_* to /{internal/external storage}/clockworkmod/virtual/system_*
If coming from 0.3.0b & ++
- Just boot to system 1 & run install.bat. No need to backup/reinstall ROM
Install/upgrade method :
ADB push - Please boot to stock system
(APK installer is not done yet)

Is this version compatable with d-wiz ROM?
If coming from 0.2.8 & below, backup your 2nd-system before begin.
On first boot, choose setting, system_2, partition setup, activate CDROM.
Then go to recovery & restore your data.
i came from 0.2.8 and seems every thing fine after activate CDROM. when i push recoervy button just boot to main system only, nothing happen, something wrong with me?

Brilliant very promising. Glad we can use the EXT.
Will it be able to recover backups from other recovery systems, like 2.7 was able to do?

This is a great modern recovery and definitely a step forward over SafeStrap 3, thanks!
It is possible to edit slot layouts and keep compatibility with further development (e.g. the app)? I intend to mimic v0.2 behaviour, so that the stock firmware layout is left untouched ([email protected],data:[email protected],cache:[email protected]), and the other system is completely contained within webtop partition (system:[email protected],data:[email protected],cache:[email protected]), the other four slots will be unused. Will it work (especially redirecting everything to webtop)?

If you used 4ext recovery to install, you should have a folder called NativeSD on your fat32 partition, point ad sd to this folder, it should have zimage and initrd in it already.

try re-starting magldr.
Does the nativeSD folder show up on pc?
Make a full backup of your sd card and format it according to the native-SD tutorial.
Then format the ext4 partition from recovery and reflash the rom.
You should be fine if you follow letter by tutorial the guide for flashing native-SD roms.

[Dev][Guide][JB+KK] Dedicated recovery/boot.cpio partition

Hi there!
Today I finally found how to make our codinas' kernels universal, i.e. allow to install kernel on whatever ROM and finally separate recovery from kernel. It's well known, bootloader decides what will be loaded - kernel or recovery. That probably may explain why AnyKernel installer(or other similar) doesn't work on codina, because we can't move recovery partition anywhere.
But there is also a little trick that allow us load recovery and boot.cpio from different partition - https://github.com/ChronoMonochrome/Chrono_Kernel/commit/df9094f1f12618ad9599da266792d6b2f8106170 - just an another approach
Don't worry, we won't touch bootloader at all.
As can be seen, /dev/block/mmcblk0p17 (kernel2 partition) will be used for storing recovery.cpio and boot.cpio. On stock that may not work (I don't know for what exactly uses Kernel2 partition, besides of manually restoring of kernel1 partition. I only know that is almost useless on custom ROMs, and we can use it as we want )
First do some preparations:
Download this kernel and needed recovery/boot scripts(4.4.x.cpio.zip, 4.4.x_f2fs.cpio.zip, etc... 4.4.x.cpio means that it support only ext4) from my google drive (folder ramdisks), unzip recovery (twrp or cwm) and rename to recovery.cpio, then move it to external SD card. Then do it with boot scripts that you've downloaded (e.g. 4.4.x_f2fs.cpio.zip - unzip and rename to boot.cpio)
Well, that all that needs for installation. Read following instruction very carefully, otherwise that may cause brick Keep in mind, all that you do at your own risk! I'm not responsible if you brick your phone!
Installation method:
1) reboot into recovery, plug your phone to your PC, enable adb:
Code:
adb shell
2) Format kernel2 partition to ext4 file system:
Code:
mke2fs -T ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p17
Think twice before you hit 'enter' button - wrong command may cause hardbrick!
3) create /ramdisk folder and mount kernel2 partition
Code:
mkdir /ramdisk
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p17 /ramdisk
move your recovery.cpio and boot.cpio to this folder, give 777 permissions:
Code:
chmod 777 /ramdisk/recovery.cpio
chmod 777 /ramdisk/boot.cpio
4) install downloaded kernel
Now you can change recovery via changing /ramdisk/recovery.cpio - just make a backup of this file, and then replace with one of another recoveries. If you want to install another ROM or change filesystem of partition then replace /ramdisk/boot.cpio with one of needed boot scripts. Don't forget to give 777 permission (probably 644 is enough, but I didn't test it) to both of these files.
This method tested and working on 4.4.x TC ROM + twrp recovery + kernel with full F2FS support.
Well, now it's time to create uncompressed kernel, that may slightly decrease the boot time
@ChronoMonochrome
Thanks. do you mean that kernel2 partition is useless in stock and cyanogenmod firmware?
Is it right that boot loader will read kernel1 partition then it will read system partition? and kernel2 is not necessary for booting?
I have installed new universal kernel (2.5) , so I flashed new ramdisk for 4.4.x , can I roll back to older versions or stock firmware with this ramdisk or I should restore Partition17 backup?

As it turned out, it's unneeded even on stock. So if you won't restore kernel2 partition, nothing will happen.

Yes, you can roll back to usual kernels. it doesn't matter what written on kernel2 partition - real kernel or anything else...

There is an Image named boot.img in kernel flashable zip archive that extracts into partition 15 (named kernel) as I understood is recovery (TWRP or CWM) image and you wont touch linux orginal image , and your modified custom kernel is new modules for linux image that loads while booting (sry, I cant explain fine), So what is recovery.cpio that is in recovery flashable zip image that extracts into partition 17 (named kernel2) ?

Android 5.0.1 for Neo....

Hi All,
I found a CM12 Rom for Neo made by a developer called Komhir..... I think it has lot of bugs.... I tried it in my Neo V but it was only for Neo I suppose... Can anyone using Neo check and update what are working...... Below is the link to thread... Since the site was not in English I am posting the Google translate link...
http://translate.google.com/transla...ial-lolipop-5-0-1-cm12-0-legacyxperia-488058/
... for Neo L ?? It is for Neo but you can install it on your Neo V. First you must flash my kernel cm11 and do all wipes with format system. Now from CWM install cm12 and gapps. After this power off the phone and flash right kernel from zip cm12. I only compiled ROM from source from Mike. I dont change anything. Camera, Calling, SMSing dont work. You need partition Ext4 on memory card, becouse all apps will be installed on they. I recomend min. 1 GB and class 10 card.
Hi Komhir
Not Neo L..... I meant Neo..... I am using Neo V and have class 10 card with ext 4 partition done for 2 GB. But still I am unable to flash the ROM.. I shall try in the method you mentioned and will update.... Anyway thanks for your reply ....

Atomrat build is for haida and have added overclocking to 2GHz and swap. Kernel from Atomrat you can install on my ROM, becouse date of compilacion is the same

Ok, thank you, uhm.. what if i got EXT2 than EXT4 will it be ok? Or do i need EXT4 for that? and what's the difference between the two? Thank you..
I dont now. You can try on EXT2 and write here if it work or not.
Keep getting: "Encryption unsuccessful"
"Encryption was interrupted and can't complete......"
"To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset...."
Any ideias?
"factory reset"??
You must do all wipes with format system.
EDIT: Probably you dont have partition EXT4 on SDcard
