Similar issue and I think it is the glass! Look closely at the glass in the light and let me know if you see weird scratches. Had the regular One X with more usage with no case and glass looks better than my One X+

These are not scratches on the glass, but scratches on weird anti-glare covering on the camera glass. I had similar issue, but after removing this covering (actually, it's possible even with your nail), I've got similar photo quality as on a new phone.

Yes there is a bunch of scratches on the back glass. But they were there even before this happend. I don't think the scratches are the problem.

I got the exact same problem. It used to work fine (see 281.jpg) , now picture quality is terrible. All pictures have a very foggy (very noticable in 486.jpg) look to it and look like theyve been taken on a 5 year old feature phone camera.
Edit: I've always had my phone in a protective leather cover.

Scuffs on Back

I have had my HOX+ for about a month and love it. But there is a problem on the back of my phone there is a million scratches it seems even rubbing your finger on it gives it more scratches and scuffs has anyone else noticed this. I also have kept it in a otter box for most of its life and just took it out about a week ago.
Mine has scuffs too. My phone fits so snugged on the case that it gets scratched by it :'(

My case also scratches my phone
Ya I'll just live with it just kind of annoying to me how heasily it scratches

AW: Scuffs on Back
I have my device without a case in my pocket or on the desk and can until now just detect tiny scratches when I look close enough. Only thing that scratches easily for me is the camera cover, probably the any glare coating...

Same here. The only time I got a scratch is when I dropped it and somehow it molded back as if there is no scratch? I've had my phone for about 3 months without a screen protector and case - so far so good!

Well, I have a case mate barely there and it is a pain to remove when I want to clean any dust accumulation. It's so tight that removing the case can scratch the the side of the phone.
Never dropped my phone either.

Is the gap really an issue?

Just wondering, how many of you have a gap? Also where is it located and do you care? I have a small but long gap on the top by the power button. I also have a hang around the bottom speaker. I'm just worried that over time dust will collect under the screen.

Do people realize that gapless applies only to the back?

Glad to hear someone else understood it correctly.
Was gonna exchange it but I'm not gonna be super anal about it. It's not even that bad.

What gap are you guys referring to?
If there is a gap on this phone, it's not enough to be an issue at all to me. I'd be hard pressed to find any imperfections in either of the two we have in the house.

Have a gap between my incisors. I wish I could refund to God. :[
I don't have any gaps or overhangs on my phone. Just 2 minor stuck pixels that you can barely see.

Does it really matter though? Im worried that dust will collect over time.

I don't think you need to worry about dust. I had dust with my sensation but the screen was different. These new LCD panels have zero gap between the LCD and the glass. I personally wouldnt have noticed any gaps if you guys had better things to do than to point out these little oddities with your phones. My device is perfect in my eyes so I think that's all that matters. Wow this phone feels nice. Not the easiest to grip without a case but it's very easy on the eyes.

I just have a case and its been 3 weeks and no signs of this but I do know what youre talking about
Well I am using the double dip flip case which supposedly give us 100% but it's a lie because the sides are opening
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I`m interested in that topic too.
There are several parts that must be cleaned :
1. White plastic on sides - I`v read that you can use Mr. Clean Magic Erase, but there is nothing like it in my country ! What would happen if we use a micro fiber towel and alcohol or water ?
2. Speaker grills - someone says to use a toothbrush and alcohol again.
3. Aluminium parts - my beats logo is awful after several days ... scared of using nail polisher ... any ideas ?
Well nail polish will remove paint in no time so no good on that and I noticed the speaker grills do get dirty as often as anything else on the phone and I think toothbrush is bad cuz it could insert alcohol in ur speaker holes and eventually messing up ur speakers

Hi guys.. here is a good way that I use to clean my silver HTC one. Use a none hard cloth such as very soft micro fibre then apply a little baby oil to the cloth and lightly clean the Ali body not the screen , after that finish of with wiping the body of your HTC one with a dry clean micro fibre cloth.. not only it will clean you HTC one it will not damage and leave it looking nice.. I have done it and it's a method I used to clean silver and ali washing machines when I was in the trade. Hope this helps but same old warning try at your own risk.

I use cloth baby wipes. But I don't know how your getting yellowing. Then again I keep my baby clean.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Well I'm a painter so maybe I just get some slight paint but I don't think so n I heard baby wipes are bad because they are not static free so they cuz messed with the pixels
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
This is why I got it in black (although black has other issues like visible finger smears and any dust shows up easily especially if it gets caught in the speaker grills. Actully my question would be how to clear the grills if and when it happens).
Plastic bristles usually find them in home depot or Lowe's well my sides really suck they r a dirty white ugh

No issues ever. Why would cleaning the white part of the phone the a wet full "cloth" wipe cause issues from the side of the phone with your screen? Are you trying to clean the chips inside the phone? Wipe gentle. All cloth wipes can be found at Wal-Mart. Under $2.
Wipe off with cleaning cloth. No probe. Looks brand new.

Black HTC One quality issues?

I thought there was a thread on this but I haven't been able to find it. I was wondering if the black Htc one has the same gap gate issues as the silvers ones have had? I am getting a black one tonight and was just wondering what to expect. That ks guys.

Awesome that's great to hear. My current silver one is great but I had to go through two others to get it. Hoping I won't have the same problem with the black variant.

Same for me, although the beats logo is already half rubbed off, and the very edge right in the middle if the side bezel has some slight wear (shows silver through it) which is likely where I grip the phone. Obviously I don't use a case so YMMV.

I have a black HTC One and its flawless. No exchanges necessary either. I also have a clear skin I put on some I took it out the box. I highly recommend a skin

Put me down for being a happy black owner as well. Flawless, first thing i checked was gaps in the store and didn't spot any, came home ran the pixel test and not a single dead pixel. Whats most impressing is the finish, its almost scratch proof been without a case for a lil over a week and holding up real well.
Dropped my black in the sand face down and now have 2 tiny tiny silver dots by my front facing cam. This thing is so delicate. My Dbrands skin can't get here fast enough.

its delicate to say the least

Foggy lens of camera?

Since a few weeks the pictures I take with my HOX+ appear a bit foggy. See example. Is there anything I can do about it?

I have just tried the toothpaste trick, convinced that it wouldn't work (and would probably wreck my phone)
5 - 10 mins later, rubbing toothpaste on with my finger, then wiping it clean with a damp cloth.
Astonishing difference! Not only does the camera now work brilliantly with no more mistly, milky lens flare, but my phone smells minty fresh (and still works).
Seriously, give it a go - 10 mins effort tops, and you can still send it in for repair after.
The obvious difference was that the coating on the lens was rubbed off, and I have noticed only good things as a result.
YMMV, but what have you got to lose?

Okay I'm starting to get this effect on my phone but I'm scared that if I rub off the coating, the lens will get permanently scratched afterwords.
Has anyone had any problems like this after this procedure?

Its been almost two weeks, the lens is still perfect even though I have been traveling
Hi,
I also just "cleaned" the lens with some tooth-paste, and removed the scratched/worn-off lens coating.
Now the lens is visually clear again, and my pictures are fabulous as usual!
Don't know where the coating was used for exactly, but removing the coating doesn't seemed to influence the picture quality at all.
Thanks for the great tip!

Hi,
Great idea, great result!
I found that my pictures start to be foggy and blurry. Camera lens wasn't scratched, but it's look like to have some tiny dirty scratched film over it.
I tried this cleaning idea, and succeed!
Thank you. My pictures are great again!
In the end I did it as well and the results are amazing.
I'm sad I didn't do it before I went on holiday, all my pictures would have been of better quality.
thanks worked great!
incredible. it worked perfectly for me!
thanks a lot!!
It's almost 2016 and it worked for my Z1 Compact
