XtremeGuard Screen Protector - AT&T LG Optimus G

I originally had a cheap matte screen protector from eBay... after a few months it was pretty beat up and in need of replacing.
After searching all the different options.. I figured I would give the XtremeGuard Screen Protector a go.
I ordered off eBay XtremeGuard, $2 w/ free shipping. It arrived two days later. It comes with the screen protector, cleaning cloth and squeegee card.
Last night I began the install. It is a "wet" install process. Very similar to installing window tint on a car.
First, I cleaned the phone really well with soap and water and the micro fiber cleaning cloth. Then I prepared the soap and water solution. Only a small amount of soap is needed. I got my fingers wet to prevent fingerprints and peeled the backing off the screen protector. I got the screen protector pretty wet with the solution and placed it on the phone from edge to edge, careful not to get any big bubbles. With it still wet, it's very easy to line it up perfectly.
Once I had it in position, I carefully squeegeed out the solution starting in the center, working outwards. I found getting the squeegee wet with the solution helps it glide across the screen protector. There was a tiny spec near a corner, so I lifted the edge back up, got the spec out and proceeded with the squeegee. After that was done, I wiped away all the excess water solution and let the phone sit for a couple hours.
At first it felt very sticky, but this morning, it seems to be a lot better. The manufacturer says it takes 24 hours to fully dry. But who can wait that long haha. I am being very careful with it until it completely dries.
Overall, it seems very good. The fit is great! I really like the wet install process, as it allows you to position it perfectly and it's very easy to get out any bubbles.
I will report back with an update as I continued to use and abuse my phone. I work in a metal forging plant so my phones experience extreme conditions; 2000°F +, drops, welding and cutting sparks, etc.
I will also post some pictures when I have a chance to use my wife's phone to capture the pic.
I highly recommend the XtremeGuard Screen Protector so far.

I havnt had a chance to apply my SGP crystal clear one yet, but that has a slight curve, not the edges, but I think they should all be OK, they sorta clinge to the screen, so it should stay.

Because of the curved glass all dry application protectors will not fully cover the full phone. The wet ones will fix this. Just trying to find a wet one that looks as good as a dry protector is hard.

I'm using the Steinheil Flex HD which is a wet application. I prefer the dry ones but none is available. Not 24 hours yet so some spots tend to have rainbow coloring. I hope it clears up when its completely dry. Fit is perfect though.

Is that cut smaller than the screen? Are the edges staying firmly?
Put on the full body protector kit from xtremeguard and had no problem due to it being a wet install. The cut is very good on it and there is not a lot of gap on the sides at all, no weird marbling or issues with it being too sticky, I'll update you after a couple of days of it setting in properly.
Installed a Steinheil Ultra Crystal on my wife's phone Friday night. The edges to do completely go down. Kinda irritating...
It doesn't look like Zagg is making an HD version either. A wet application seems to be the only way to get the screen protector to fit properly.
Zagg screen protector is great fit the screen perfect with wet application.
I HIGHLY recommend getting a Zagg HD. Literally looks like nothing is on my screen. The wet application forms and fits to the screen.

Clear no-liquid screen protector recommendation

When I got my phone, I was going to get the $15 pack of Sprint screen protectors: the dry ones I've always used. Except... they were anti-glare and they don't have clear and I don't like the sparkles and reduced resolution of anti-glare or matte screen protectors. So the store talked me into the Zagg. I'm not a fan of the wet-apply screen protectors but thought I'd give it a shot for once. To each their own: some may love them, but I hate this Zagg screen protector and find it almost unusable! Orange peel out the wazoo (I can live with that since it doesn't reduce resolution) but the worst thing is that it's "sticky" like soft rubber. I can't even slide my finger (well) on this thing! Tried cleaning it and no amount of cleaning, washing hands, pressing lighter, etc. fixes it. Sliding my finger feels like I have dried sticky soda on my fingers.
So... being early in the game, has any one found a dry-apply clear screen protector they'd recommend, either from local stores (Best Buy, etc.) or online?
Edit: Maybe I should have posted this in accessories, but thought maybe someone had a solution to the sticky Zagg so I put it here.
Thanks,
Mike
Well i always used the cheapo SP, and i ordered four for $2 from Ebay the other day. Took like 2 days to get to my house. Only thing is, is that it dosen have the cut-out for the proximity sensor, but it functions just fine. Turns off when i make phone calls and everything. Some may not have luck with others that dont have the cutout, but this one works just fine. heres the link. If you want, i can send you one to try out. I have 3 left, and there no way ill use all these. WEnt on super easy and looks good. Lemme know. PM ME if u want. Be glad to mail ya one. Also, the one from Sprint SUCK. they dont even cover the whole phone. Just the screen itself. THey dont even go all the way doesn to the buttons. Unreal

I purchased from a luckeyminky on eBay. It is the type with two step application. First step exposes the sticky side. Smooth out the bubbles. Then remove step two layer. I reccomend cutting the top right cornner . It will get caught and eventually pull the protector off. Also if you get a piece of lint use one piece of scotch tape to life the screen protector another to grab the piece of dust. Did that last night with awesome results.

Why do you need a screen protector for a phone that has Gorilla Glass on it?!? (in this case gorilla glass 2) I have never ever scratched a phone with gorilla glass, I dont use a case and I do put it in my pocket. (empty pocket of course) in my opinion if you put a case/screen protector you only take away from the great design of the phone.
Dude, some people lead busy and active lives that are hazardous to fragile things like glass. To condemn a huge portion of the population who like to keep their $600 toy from getting a knick in it or worse is pretty asinine.

Gorilla glass 2 is trash. If your expecting the same from it that you did the original your in for some heartbreak.
Captivate 2 years not a single scratch still flawless. G2 og scratched twice in first 2 weeks. Luckily my screen protector hides the scratches so I'm not pulling my hair out from ocd.

These protectors are terrible. I bought three, and I had to throw all of them away due to complications while installing. If you manage to get it applied, you will end up with air bubbles or soap stuck under the protector. I have applied dozens of dry screen protectors over the years, and this was my first (and last attempt) at a wet application screen protector. The coupon price was still in effect last week, so I bought three of these protectors. They arrived today. I read the included instructions and watched two videos about how to apply them. While trying to apply one, there was soap stuck under the middle of the protector, and it would not come out, no matter how much flattening I attempted with the included hard plastic tool. In fact, the screen was easily scratched by flattening it out. I had to throw away that first one.
I used less soap for the second one, but there were air bubbles and soap was stuck under the protector again. I then tried to reuse this protector without soap, but it was simply too sticky to arrange properly. When I had finally gotten it in the right position, the air bubbles would simply not come out.
The third time, I used a different kind of soap. Same problems. Soap and air bubbles stuck under the screen. The screen protector scratches and deforms when attempting to get out the bubbles.
Again, I've applied many dry screens, so I am familiar with the trickiness of bubbles. I have overcome them many times. With these wet screen protectors, you simply cannot remove the bubbles, and you will deform the protector while attempting to remove bubbles. If for some reason you enjoy throwing away money and time and wish to install this protector, first cover up the phone's ear speaker. A lot of water and soap seeped in while attempting to install these things.
Thanks, Just ordered one!
Anyone know of cheap back protectors?

Best glass screen protector and installation?

Okay so I've narrowed my options down to the SGP glas.tr slim, the Glas.t nano, BodyGuardz and Tech Amor Ballistic tempered glass. Which one would you guys suggest?
Also what is a good way to apply them? With these type of screen protectors being a one shot type of thing, I'm nervous to put it on. On my iPhone 5, I tried the steamy bathroom method but I ended up getting steam under the glass screen protector when I installed it. Any great methods you guys used for a dust/bubble free application? Thanks
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
IDK about them but I use MIME Ghost glass on my S$ and its AMAZING. It has the hardness rating of (9H) compared to others I looked at (7-8H) and it is also only .32mm thick. Others i looked at were like .40mm thick. The reason i mention thickness is that with a case on the phone the surface still sits lower then the rubber edges of the case so you aren't putting the phone face down and have it sitting on the glass screen protector. MIME also has a lifetime warranty that if it breaks or whatever it's 50% off to replace it.
1 more thing, not all of them have a curved edge to the glass. Some have a straight edge and can chip or crack much easier so make sure then ones you are looking at have a curved edge finish.
As far as install... just make sure its clean of dust. You can pick them up and reapply the glass protectors pretty easily. Point of reference, i used the home button and the edge of the top of the screen protector and the ear speaker at the top to make sure it was straight and centered
Just my 2 cents on what i got and why i decided on that one.
I used glas.t cuz I always use a case. Love it. And its super thin. .023? I think. Applied it with the shower on in the bathroom. came out mint.

I received mine today. Installation was very easy and thus far I'm very pleased with the selection. I was going to go with iLoome but this screen protector is definitely worth it!
Update *
So I took my Spigen slim case off and I just realized when I turn my phone horizontally, screen facing up, and look at the screen protector...you can barely tell it is on! This thing is super thin and I didn't realize it after I put it on because I slipped the case on prior to putting the screen protector on. Quite a difference from the iLoome I had on my iPhone 5S! This thing is holding up great as well! So far no scratches and smudges wipe right off.
It is slightly smaller than the full G3 screen, but just slightly!

Not hard at all. Yes it was a dry install. I just started on the earphone side and used a credit card to put it on evenly.
Also another way to install these is to get some tape.
Align the screen like you want it and make a hinge out of tape.
Remove the adhesive while the protector is still hinged and slowly close the protector down on the glass.
A little late to the party, but I HIGHLY suggest this. I already had a small scratch on my screen, I am quite careful with my phones, the screen is not impervious to scratches, The Skinomi went on without any hassle, super easy dry install, clean screen, peel plastic, and drop it on. Zero bubbles, feels as good if not better than the screen itself and I haven't noticed a single issue with dead spots or hitting icons etc.
No better $15 spent imo. I had some very annoying scratches on my G2 screen after about 6 months, very apparent in the sunlight, I imagine this is a pretty easy replacement if I get scratches on this screen.
