Long live adobe flash player - Nokia Lumia 920

What will come first the app for flash player on WP8 or a new OS. I think this is biggest lack of app now. It seems there is no end in site for flash, its time MS paid for developing it. Anyone have any insight on this WP8 missing piece.

Meh,
The only page I've come across that needed flash was the one for a local restaurant. The majority of the sites have minimized or move from flash, or aren't intended for mobile devices.
That said, I'm sorry you can't create your new candy concoctions or tend your farms from your phone, thought there are plenty of other games that you can play that run natively on the phone.
Regards,

perhaps you don't read BBC or stream video from tv sites. Thanks for cotton candy speech.

Adobe as of the year before last pulled out of the mobile market. That means flash is not even available on Android devices now unless you get a third party app that may still be floating around. All websites are supposed to be converting to HTML5 if they want mobile viewer traffic. If they have not converted then they are only interested in PC traffic and you should boycott the site to show them the traffic they are missing. Rather than make your work, you should make the sites do what they are supposed to do.

My android phone (Asus PadFone 2) is capable of showing live streams on Twitch.tv with the default browser, but I have no idea how. If I try to play a video from the day before on the website, it says I need flash player, so it only works if the channel is live. On my Lumia 920 however if I go to Twitch.tv, it says I need flash player, even if the channel is live... So how is it my PadFone can show live streams if its still flash-based, yet I get an error saying I need flash if I try to play videos from the day before?
I tried an unofficial Twitch TV app. on WP. It works well, but you have to pay to not get cut off every 5mins or so. I wish WP would also be able to show live streams on the actual Twitch TV website.

This is a live streaming for all you sport enthusiasts. that providing u subscribe to it, u can then watch it free on your phone... streampro.tv
Just to let You know, since i got this i don't have Sky Sports anymore.
I get to watch all the Premiership games live at 3 o'clock on a Saturday.
All main sporting events i.e Boxing, Golf, Rugby etc etc
And its really cheap to, saved me a fortune.
thanks for the links, new android user so its good to know these things
Remember if you are in the UK, you need a TV License to do this legally as it is classed as live broadcast in the Terms & Conditions.
Tv licence as stated required for live transmission .
Catchup TV watching TV that is not live does not at present require a licence .
Source TV and Licensing web site .

It's called TVCatchup but there is no OnDemand facility, it is streamed live and does indeed require the user to have a valid UK TV License! Not that they could ever really enforce it.... yet (Deep Packet Inspection anyone??).
It is a great service and I've used it without issue for the past year or so. Recommend to anyone.
Regards.
I've got to say that watching flash streams was a joy on my Nexus One, and trying Demand Five on the Galaxy S II it's been amazing.
Just a shame most of the sport has popups, comment boxes, and get pulled after 30 mins by Sky.
which browser are you using for tvcatchup? Just tried to use it on my S2 and when I choose the channel and hit play nothing happens! Using stock browser...any ideas?

The TV.com site and app are owned by CBS. That app would let you watch the newest episode of some CBS, CW and Showtime shows. It also has episodes from older, "classic" TV shows. But the number of full episodes is pretty limited. It doesn't require Flash, so even someone with a crappy phone (like myself) can use it.
You can also watch a limited number of TV show episodes with the Crackle app (requires Flash).
ETA: Both of these apps are probably available only to people living in certain countries, like the U.S.

Do you have the market address for this app? I could not find it.
market.android.com/details?id=com.veetle
Crackle lets you watch TV and movies for free they have a pretty good selection. Not going to find recent shows but they have some good ones and a very nice selection of movies.

Offline video playback (amazon,etc)

I've tried searching for this, but haven't found anything that addresses it yet...
Does anyone have a way to make amazon rented videos play offline on a g tab with a different ROM on it? I was hoping to rent a couple from amazon and watch on a plane this weekend, and it looks like the online streaming works alright, but when I try to pull them down to watch offline, I get a message that I can't do that, because they can tell the tablet is rooted?
Alternatively, where do you all get your movies from, preferably legally I'm not tied to amazon if there's a different source that works on our tablets...just haven't really looked much of anywhere else.
FWIW, I'm running VeganTab 7.1 (I think...the boot screen says 7.0.0, but the system dialog looks like its 7.1)
Amazon uses Microsoft's DRM for downloaded content there is no way to watch these on an Android device. Currently they are limited to Windows and Xbox. I really don't know a whole lot about the browser flash player, there was a hack for xbmc that allowed you to stream, but it does not help you for offline anyway.
All companies have there own DRM so the best bet would be to look at The Youtube rental service as it's by Google Though I've never used it.

Thanks, I suspected that might be the case. I hadn't looked at the youtube service, so I'll check it out.

Aaaannndddd....I'm really dumb. The movies I was trying to watch ARE from the youtube service, since I pulled them from the marketplace. So it looks like they should work on an android device, but don't like the root ROM.
I just usually rent from Amazon on my laptop, so defaulted to think that that's what I was looking at.
You can try Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, or Temp Root Remover. Those temporarily "remove" root so you can run some apps that look for root. That might work.

Using my Prime with Apple TV

A couple of guys in the office have recently gotten iPads & the boss is now talking about getting a couple of iTV's for the meeting rooms - to compensate for the fact that they never put proper IT infrastructure in there...
Will it be possible for me to connect with my TP? I'd hope to be able to flick through images, show & mark up .pdf's and possibly open some CAD files on the telly screen. Being able to use YouTube & play movies would be a bonus...

One option would be doubleTwist with the optional AirSync plug-in (which adds the Airplay functionality). Otherwise, you could just mirror the Prime's display using the micro hdmi output directly to the television for a wider choice of content.

But this doesn't mirror the Prime's screen, which is what I'd like to be able to do. AFAIK that isn't currently possible. Correct me if I'm wrong. We have an AppleTv in one of our conference rooms at work and I would like to link to it for presentations, etc.
Thanks for the responses. It seems that the solution I'm looking for does not exist. Shame... I will however install one of the airplay apps & see how that works out.

I do actually. Do you understand the question I asked, because your link doesn't answer my question...
If you have a 3rd Gen Apple TV then doubletwist doesn't work with Video. It works well with Audio. I had a case going on with doubletwist where they ended up refunding me the cost of the Airsync plug in as it wasn't working as it was supposed.
I think with 2nd Gen Apple TV you might be alright, but I haven't tried it.
I was trying out an app called 'iMediaShare' or something of the likes the other day. I was able to go through photos, videos, music (as long as it is stored on your device and not in gMusic), and youtube over an Apple TV. Looking through it, I do not see any way to go through PDFs or CAD designs though. For everything, your best bet as of now would be to use the mini HDMI and find separate apps for everything.
I have tried both AppleTV media player & iMedia player, but I cannot even see the Apple TV in the devices list. Its a third gen...

[Q] Google Play movies won't play via MHL

I recently bought an MHL adapter for my Z2 tablet but I can't play any purchased Google Play movies or shows on my TV. I just get an on screen message on the tablet saying that "premium content cannot be played on this screen as it is not secure". I have a fairly modern (5 years old) LG television with HD capabilities so I am not sure why this is happening.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
It's built into the software. They want you to buy a Sony bluray or Sony TV to watch Sony unlimited movies on a big screen! One of the many reasons people avoid buying movies using proprietary systems. If it's a movie you bought using video unlimited you are sh!t out of luck I'm afraid. If it's a divx you have downloaded via torrents etc, try other apps like mx player, Mobo player or vlc player.
If your TV supports wifi direct you may want to try that, but I expect it will produce the same results.

Thanks for the reply.
It's just frustrating that Google claim you can watch anything bought through them via MHL on a TV, only for Sony to prevent it in their software.
Interestingly, I found today that I can play the content via the YouTube app instead which solves the problem I suppose but it still irritates me that I have to go around the houses to play things I have actually bought!

LOL! I think this could even be true, it would be typical for Sony! Reminds me of their locked down DVD and BD players and their malware-Audio-CDs
Fortunately you don't need to run Sony's OS at all - at least they let you unlock the bootloader. I'm running PAC ROM at the moment, and I don't miss any feature.

I assumed it was a video you had bought from Sony. If you bought it via Google play I'm sure there are loads of options documented on the Internet that let you play it however you want.

Yes, I'm sure you're right, it just baffles me why it won't play through the standard Google Play movies app but will do via YouTube!
Thanks again for taking the time to answer.
