[Q] Can the Verizon GS4 use the Omega ROM? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello fellow XDA people. My question to all of you is that is it possible to use the Omega ROM meant for the i9505 variant to be flashed and used on this Verizon variant? Like can the following be usable (to those that have or are willing to use Omega and test it out):
- Data (3G/4G and Wifi)
- Wifi Tethering
- Any features added to the XXUBMEA update that this ROM is built from (Such as HDR video recording, more space available, less lag, etc.).
- Messaging
- Call Recording and any other mods added to this ROM
BTW it is possible to use i9505 ROMs on the Verizon variant but I haven't heard of anyone that has tried out Omega so that I can see if they have experienced any bugs relating to Wifi, Data, or other features and mods. Idk if I can post the link but I can say that there is a guide to install i9505 ROMs on this device somewhere in this section.

Edit: You should not flash any ROM not specific to your carrier as there are carrier specific files included. You could lose data connectivity or spam other carriers with errors. There are ways to port other ROMs but those are very advanced tasks.

Yes, flash and use your carriers kernel (important) and add your apn settings, it will work.

Are you sure? I flashed the Omega rom and ktoonsez kernel last night and the rom seems to work, however I have no data. When I tried to manually add my apn settings the 'Access Point Names' option is completely missing from the menu.

I would like to know soon because I'm getting my GS4 either today or tomorrow. If data and everything works then I'm gonna head off and flash Omega. And please give step by step instructions if you can, thank you.
Any help is appreciated.

Anybody tried and tested it out yet? Phone should be coming in sometime soon.
EDIT: woops sorry for double posting.

The Access Point Names setting seems to come and go. When its there, I can put my apn settings in and I have 4g data, but after a while the setting just disappears and I lose mobile data.

EDIT: Nvm you said ktoonsez kernel. Maybe try another kernel or as I said a reflash or something. I would like to know. Phone is still coming, FedEx is being slow today.

I've tried the ktoonsez kernel as well as the faux kernel. I also tried flashing the wanamlite rom just to see if it was just an issue with the omega rom, but I still get the same problem. And yes, I did try reflashing it but the problem is still there.

That's strange. Hm. Hope I don't run into the same problem.

You probably will run into the same problems if all the system apps and config files don't have the necessary codes and designations in it. The RIL lib files are different too amongst other things. That's not to say a ROM couldn't have more universal system settings. Or that you couldn't change the settings/databases/configs yourself.
I've found work arounds for all the issues so far but they aren't novice user friendly. I may do a write up after I'm done my port.

So would data and all that work properly on Omega on the i545? Or would there be things that I would need to configure.

That sucks. I've seen some people get it working I think and a little bit according to kejay except for the fact his/her APN settings come and go along with data. Omega is a really great ROM but I guess I might just have to go with HyperDrive which I've already downloaded but I've heard of a few bugs here and there as of RLS 4.
[EDIT] Anyone got data working yet or anything? Or should I just use HyperDrive? Got my phone like 5 minutes ago.

[ROM][PORT][JB 4.2.2][PA3.60][AOKP-MR1][CM10.1]P.A.C True All in 1 ROM[HALO][OPD]

Hi, this is the first PORTED ROM I release, and also the first P.A.C. ROM for the HOX+, I tryed to build from source for about 2 weeks and keept fixing errors, making needed files to just get new errors and new needed files not found and in the end I tryed to build CM just to see if I can even build that, and it worked, so I realised PACman was a bit over my powers and gave up and deleted the source, but after a bit KaptKeefmenneke sent me his PACman 22.1.1 and I sterted porting newer versions over it with great success, so here I am posting this rom after geting permisions from both KaptKeefmenneke and [vertigo] to post it.
This rom is for the INTERNATIONAL ONE X+
This rom was ported from the NEXUS4 over an unreleased P.A.C. 22.1.1 for the HOX+
I will update the rom as long as I can, and fix as many bugs as I can with my limited development knoledge.
This rom also has an OPD (OpenPDroid) patch that can be flashed after flashing the rom.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Not working:
-no vibration when touching the touch buttons-did all that came into my mind but still can't make the vibrations work, even did the framework-res.apk edit that should enable it and no luck, if anyone has any Ideea I'd like to hear it.
-headsets not recognised, looking to find a fix but I am kinda blind at this part because I don't know what files contain things related to headset.
-same things as in all other aosp roms
-you tell me
Bugs:
-same things as in all other aosp roms
-OS is allways in black mode, the PAC in Black toggle doesen't do anything.
-you tell me
NOTE: for bugs that need it, post logs, I did not include the Sharelogs and Performance Tool apk's so you will have to download them, sorry, also even if I am not too much of a developer I can mostly read logs, also post if you find any fixes for any bugs, don't expect me to be able to fix all the bugs that may appear, remember I am preety new in the development thing and my knoledge is limited (verry limited as far as I understand) and my time is also limited due to school.
Working:
-mostly everything as far as I can see
I would not recommend using this rom with Xposed Framework even if it is great just because of the same reason it is not really working ok on AOKP (it will take longer for the SystemUI to load)
Downloads:
Rom: http://www.mediafire.com/download/mg8sdj47cs5fq9k/enrc2b_PAC_JB_4.2.2-v23.0.0.zip
Gapps: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
Kernel: Use CM10.1 kernel, DO NOT use the included kernel as many things will not work with it (wifi, bluetooth, etc)
OpenPDroid patch: http://www.mediafire.com/download/1..._4.2.2-v23.0.0-openpdroid-20130612-update.zip (No dark mode in Messages app, will try to fix, but don't think I can till I will manage to build from source) for the moment I would say just use XPrivacy if you can live with the SystemUI startup delay added by XPosed.

Will have a look as soon a I reupload the rom, thanks for reporting.
Just so people are aware, pacman can and does have HUGE issues with some apps on the market.
Could someone that has this installed tell me if they have any problems with the signal (not getting signal at all), cause a friend had it when he flashed it to his X+ and I also did have the problems after wiping data, then fixed the problem as my friend told me to and then wiped data again and set up the device and did this process again and again lots of times and I only got that once, but at the first wipe data I had my data from the 22.1.1 pacman rom, if anyone else has this problem I will post a how to fix it in the OP, I am not sure if it is related to the rom or not, that is why I am not adding the bug and fix to the OP, for me it happened only once, and my friend has lots of apps installed so it may have been caused by an app for him, test if you have this problem and tell me please.

I did not have any issue with signals on both wifi and mobile network. Though, before i adb pushed the rom/gapps zip, I did a full wipe of the system, data and caches. The phone was like totally empty before i install this ROM.

Go to settings->More->Mobile Networks, wait for it to load, click automatically connect around 3 times, it will give you an error, but in 1 min you should be connected and allmostly sure that it should not happen again.
EDIT: Found a real solution, will upload a fixed rom when I get home in 5 and a half hours, at school now and getting ready for a exam.
EDIT2: found the solution and updated apktool to decompile framework, apply fix and recompile and get errors at recompiling......is there a special apktool for pacman or something?

Also for anyone that wants to help me can you please try to apply the fix at the bottom of the OP in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008 to the framework in my rom, cause for me it doesen't work, I can not recompile the framework even if I don't change anything, so I decompile it and try to recompile and fail, also I get some errors at the decompilation part also, but it seems to decompile.....
EDIT: anyone having a problem that when you talk with someone the other person hears himself, cause dad told me that today, but no one else told me till now?

So does this mean that all international ROMs should work with our device? Pretty sure the hardware is identical (although I might be wrong - correct me if I am) so I see no reason why they wouldn't. Would love some insight from someone with more knowledge, however.

Yes I am currently running the Omega v1.3 rom
I am running it and it works Absolutely perfectly! If anyone is also having a problem with Shealth working after installing Xposed it seems to fix it. Just a few warning thought that I thought I would post.
1) After flashing it will flash all your internal storage - Backup everything first, Also I would move the zip to an external Sdcard before flashing.
2) Even if you select no wipe in aroma while upgrading, it still seems to wipe everything including your internal storage.

Yeah, I was thinking about trying to get permissions of a few international roms to try and alter the upater script and edit a few things to make them more compatible with the us roms.
There are several INT'L ROMs that work great with TMO USA S5.
Just look Here:

No need to "port"
Just flash it!
I'm assuming that WIFI calling does NOT work with this ROM, correct?

Wifi calling is a tmobile specific addition, so won't be included in international roms.

I have flashed EVERY ROM that has been posted on the International S5 threads and they all work with the TMOBILE S5
Alliance Rom is phenomenal - Omega is great - so is Echo - The only thing yoiu have to get used to is that you lose WiFi calling. I am using a TMOBILE S5 on the ATT network so it doesn't matter to me anyway - ATT doesn't support WiFi calling - but to be honest, the benefits of flahsing these roms far outweighs the benefits of Wifi Calling. (IMHO anyway)
NO special steps are needed - EXCEPT - when you flash an International ROM be prepared - they do usually wipe the Internal SD card. So make a back up of the important files (like Titanium Backup for example)
while we wait for TMO development to get underway - at least you have a few very good roms you can play with.
Good luck and happy flashing!

Little light on the details here...
Which variant of the d2lte? Is it just data only that isn't working or talk/text as well? If it is just data, then usually it is an APN that needs to be added. There might be a flashable APN zip, but depends on your carrier.

Just in case you ever soft brick or need to return to stock, I found that ^. If you don't already have it, I recommend saving it as it's not as easy to find vs the more popular versions and since it is on someone's Dropbox, you can't assume it'll be available there forever.
But you never answered me about switching the APNs in the Settings to see if that would help...
Also, which network setting are you trying to use? I'm wondering if you don't need to switch to just CDMA instead of the probably default LTE/CDMA setting since I don't believe that phone supports LTE for ST, right?

[MOD] NK4 HotSpot Fix & Extended Boot Menu ODEXED

Here is a HotSpot mod for NK4 devices. I did the smali edits from memory and put this together in 10 minutes so please let me know if there are any issues. It is working on my device but make a backup. Requires busybox installed for the installer.
This is for ODEXED ROMS! This is NOT DEODEXED! Don't yell at me if you can't read
Added seperate Extended Boot Menu Mod. Same rules apply.
Could you make one for the NKD build if I send you the needed file's?
The smali edits would be easy enough, However, I'm not sure how to 'odex' it and how things are affected since ART is implemented in the latest version replacing the Dalvik cache.
Short answer. I don't know....
I guess I need to install it at some point and figure out how it works
There's been quite a few downloads and no feedback whatsoever so I'll assume the mods are working?

Hi townsenk;
I thin the majority of users\downloaders are on tdunham's stock 4.4.4 and deodex. At least that is my case. I'm trying to get hotstpot working and have been thus far unsuccessful. If you feel like making a Deodex version I will definitely be on the top of the list for a test. Galaxy tools have been unable to fix my issue. I am able to advertise the hotspot put no devices can connect. They hang on the obtaining IP screen.

I can deodex the extended reboot mod if needed, provided I get some feedback that the deodexed hotspot version is even working. Like I said, I have no easy way to test deodexed versions and rely on simple comments like "It's Working" or "You blew up my Phone You Jerk!"

Try this. This is completely untested and probably not ready for public consumption!
Make sure you have a backup of your services.jar and have a fire extinguisher handy...

Flashed and cleared cache. Broke my wifi. I get authentication error when trying to connect to an access point now.
Hotspot has same issue trying to assign IP. I didn't make a backup of just the services.jar (yea, know I should have). Instead just restoring a full backup with TWRP,
:EDIT: The restore did not fix the authentication error. After restore, I simply did the turn off wifi and data, turn on Airplane mode, Turn back on Wifi and that fixed it so I probably could have done that in the first place. I wanted to confirm this backup though so happy since it was a full modem\EFS (everything checked) backup.
Thank you for trying.

Are you using Xposed, Custom kernel or any mods or xml edits that may be affecting this?
The reason I ask is that the fact that an ip address is not getting assigned should not be a side affect of the mod regardless of it being odexed or deodexed. I also had no success in using the one click hotspot app. (which is what prompted me to do the mod in the first place). I also restored the system once it failed because I felt it may have left some undesired edits behind. The only real way would be to do the mod on a clean deodexed install. I'm not asking you to do this because I know it's a pain. I may attempt this in the next day or so depending on the feedback I get in the meantime.
EDIT: User miked63017 is testing a different way to do the hotspot mod in a recent post. You may consider trying that. he may also have more insight on your specific issue.

I am now using a custom kernel but did try it with the stock kernel as well. It is weird that I don't get a complain from the Hotspot app but instead only get an issue with devices trying to connect. Maybe I'll try with a clean install over the weekend to see what happens.
No exposed. on tdunham's 4.4.4
Hotspot worked perfectly for me. But now on deodexed rom

There's been quite a few downloads and no feedback whatsoever so I'll assume the mods are working?

Don't wanna hijack the thread, but if there isn't a deodexed version of the mod, the app I have in the themes and apps section under sprint s5 should work.

Did you try the one from post #7 ?

[ROM] Sac23&Darkera13 Note 5 Ported V2 10/27 - No Services

Since I am new and can't post in the development forum...
I really like this Rom but I can not get it to access any network functions either cell or data. I have tried both versions, waited when flashed and booted before rebooting, dirty flashed v1 to v2... but no matter what I get these:
SAE has stopped (after boot up)
Insert Sim Card to access network services (on sprint?)(when attempting to turn Mobile Data on)
and it says in the top bar "checking device status"
Can not update profile or prl
Please help...
What modem and baseband are you on?
Sim card not recognized
I have the same problem although SAE went away when I chose note 3 camera but still no service and Sim card not found!
Modem is listed as unknown and not even an option for baseband

sac's rom is ancient and other people have made improvements to darkera's Lp note 5 port. Try Music of Life LP rom from main note3 forum. Since there's zero interest to port them to the sprint , install with XAS csc to allow apn editing. If you don't mind some bugs, try the S7 edge ports instead. Darkera, music of life, and others currently have s7 ports. They all have their own threads (darkera has his english thread at samsungvn) if you want to ask further questions about them.

Try going to build.prop and changing the device name to:
ro.product.model=SM-G925F
I'm not sure why either wouldn't work they work fine for me but that is a setting I changed to get themes to work.

I'll try that, thank you again for all of your help. I have noticed that smart select is working after boot up and for a little while after, then it stops. Something must be killing it after a while, I've tried deselecting various Xposed modules but have stuck out so far figuring out the correct one. Hopefully this will work

Try freezing sae 2.0 in titanium. Seemed like that had something to do with it as well. It's been a while.

Thank you, I did want to try Phronesis' 6.5 but just wasn't confident that I'd be able to get data to work. I seems like it works great with xposed, enough though there's so much baked in that most modules wouldn't be necessary. I wanted a 5.1.1 stable ROM, MM still seems to be too buggy, it seems like Sac's was the only alternative for me, but I guess I need to figure out the APN option to make others work with Sprint.
