[Q] Keyboard auto return from symbols submenu - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Simple function lost from my old phone that aggravates the hell out of me on the Note II.
When typing, anything, on my old phone, I hit the symbols button, add a comma for example and the keyboard immediately goes back to abc mode.
On the Note II, i need to hit the abc / symbols button again. It's an extra tap that is completely unnecessary. How often does anyone type more than one symbol sequentially aside from emoticons.
So the question is if anyone knows how to modify the Note II to add this functionality, or of a good keyboard replacement that has this functionality?

I believe with the layout of the note 2 keyboard and the ability to long press for special characters, they didn't feel the need of making it auto change . With that you can always download swype or go keyboard and set them up for whatever you may want your heart to be happy with.

Spacebar mapping on the nummeric keyboard

Hi. I really dont like the position of the spacebar key on the numeric keyboard of the Rose. It is located on the key 9 (doublepress), but I am used to doublepress the key 0 from my Nokia phone.
Does anybody know, please, how the spacebera can be remaped?
Thanks!
Regards Robert
P.S. Rose is a superb phone, like it very muc.
Exactly; I'd like it to be on the "1" instead of the "#" I guess its only useful for lefthanded people.. I'll either almost drop my phone or break my thumb, lol.).
Any idea's? Already checked the eT9 etc, but no result there.
The numeric keyboard is useful since I don't always wanna type with the keyboard slid open when in the pub
I'd also like to remap a key. When the phone is slid-out the SMS/MMS key and the one next to it with a picture of an envelope on both take you to the SMS inbox. This seems extremely pointless to me and i'd like to remap one to start a blank SMS.
Thanks

get ride of the language bar when using hard keys?

Hi,
whenever i use the hard keyboard, that stupid little language bar pops up on the bottom. I always press the eng button by accident and change the language.
How can I get rid of it without, losing softkeys on portrait mode and the symbol function.
thanks!
Ray
The only way I know to get rid of the language bar is to install another keyboard, but you lose the symbol function. Check this thread out for a great alternative, the keyboard linked includes an auto-correction for the physical keyboard, which in my opinion, is a brilliant addition as well as easily accessed symbols.
really?
so theres no way to type underscore "_" in landscape mode?
I suppose if you were desperate you could leave the default text input active and switch to it from the HTC keyboard when you wanna use an underscore. Although that's a little tedious lol.
That sucks...
Thanks anyway

Hi,
I guess, you can do it by :
Settings> Locale & text> Un-checking "DEFAULT INPUT"

Yes, we know that, but if i do that, I won't be able to type _ anymore.
Lol cant u close the phone and do undetscore thru one of the side sliders of th portrait keyboard.. how lame sony have been with minor amazingly annoying smart ( or dumb lol) phone issues on th xperia range. Iv had th original x1 then x10 m pro and overall pleased with both. Its just th connectivity/compatabillity that's gettin on my goose...

Yes I can, but in the process of doing so, i might press something else and changed the language to estonian or something. It's a great phone, but these small details annoy me. Crapy contact dialer and crappy symbol keys.

[Q] Possible to modify the Samsung Keyboard?

I'm probably one of the few people who like the Samsung Keyboard on the Vibrant. That being said, there is one thing (in particular) that bothers me about it: the location of the comma key, which is on the symbols screen. Every time I use a comma (and I use plenty), I have to go into the symbols screen, which is frustrating.
Is there anyway to modify this keyboard so that the comma key can end up next to the space bar, where I'd like it?

Custom dictionary

Not quite sure how to explain this. But on my bb I could go into the dictionary and add my own words. For example, if I typed na(space) it would automatically come up "sorry not available". Does anyone know.how to do this on an android phone? I tried to find an option on my Samsung fascinate and droid charge, no luck.

Some keyboards allow you to do acronyms like Slide It I think.
Smart Keyboard Pro allows you to do this.

You can add them as you go on swype.
You can add them as you go with the stock keyboard too. As soon as you start typing a down arrow appears. Hit that and at the bottom there is a button that says add word. Or you can you can through the settings menu, language and keyboard, touch input then to personal dictionary.
You guys are misunderstanding... Basically he wants to add shortcuts... For example typing abc I can make it type out "my name is cares"

Xperia Keyboard

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the Gesture Input in particular. Strike rate for arriving at intended word is perhaps 50%. More annoyingly once an incorrect(or any) word is entered, the system always deselects the suggested word and adds a space. Therefore you have to backspace numerous characters to correct it. And yes, I have unchecked "Automatic space" under Symbols & smileys.
Whereas on my Nexus 5x the strike rate for correct word is nearer 90% AND if an unintended word does get entered it is only ever a single press of the backspace key to clear it and start again. ie the entered word remains selected until the next action occurs and no following space is entered until then. Much better arrangement in my opinion.
For now I have disabled Gesture input as it is not working satisfactorily for me on this small Z5c screen. Frustrating because quick and simple text input is a key usability feature for me. If I get frustrated with the keboard every day I will get sick of the handset very soon. Made worse for me because the Nexus 5x I have been evaluating does such a terrific job of it, accentuating the shortcomings of the Xperia keyboard on the Compact.
Does everyone find the Xperia Keyboard satisfactory in the Compact phone footprint?
I'm having a similar issue. I'm use to using the CyanogenMod keyboard from my old rom with its own gestures. The other nice thing is that it has the symbols on the keys like the xperia keyboard where the google one doesnt for some reason.
Mine's working fine. Infact it has even picked up the Bangla words that I've used so far and so this is making one handed typing extremely easy for me. Well I have been using the xperia keyboard for like 3 years at a stretch now and maybe that's why I'm so used to it
I have been using this keyboard for about a month and still have not gotten use to it. The gesture swiping is only correct maybe 25% of the time at most. I've resorted to just typing more often now. I'd switch to the google keyboard but it lacks symbols on they keys.

With the Google keyboard you can hold down the symbol button and the symbols will appear on their respective keys. Then you can slide over to the symbol you want.

yeah, I know I can do that, but I'm use to holding down the key. I have to be somewhat precise with the sliding to the correct button so its easy to be off by one. I suppose I have the same risk just pressing and holding but I figure its easier to be precise when pressing a button directly vs stopping a slide.
