Purchasing off contract - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Hey guys so I've decided to get the One but here in Canada we don't have black. So my question is will AT&T stores or any other allow me to walk in and buy one no contract or plan without being a customer?
Thanks

You can buy a phone full price without contract but you'll have to unlock it yourself to work on your local network.

So stores won't have a problem selling device only to someone who's not a customer? Appreciate the input just don't want to waste a trip across the border.

Yes if its just hardware and you're willing to pay full price they don't care if you're not an AT&T customer. Only matters if you want the contract/subsidized price.
People buy full price phones as gifts for other people all the time and its up to the recipient to go walk in a store and activate a new account or switch their current account over to the new phone.

How do i order from ATT?

Hey,
I want to order the HTC ONE from ATT but without a plan and Unlocked.
Is it possiable?
Its asking me to add a plan even after i choose month to month for 600$
Thanks
They probably won't let you pre-order it without a plan/ contract of some sort in place. Even after it comes to the stores, you'd have to be on an AT&T Go-Phone plan which doesn't allow you to use their LTE (if that's something you're looking for).
If you're looking for to use an HTC One that way, your best bet would be to order the SIM unlocked version direct from HTC. It would basically the same thing and you would be able to get past AT&T's wanting to put you in a contract.

Bought the phone from a guy on the train. Really doubt I will be able to get it UCCI unlocked...
Hey! I lost my phone on the train! Just kidding. :sly:

I did notice that the phone was activated on 12/25/2013 so chances are I wont be able to do the unlock?
I am waiting for sprint to let ting.com activate my note and let them unlock it.

yeah but its been your phone since new right? This one I bought from another owner adn dont plan on using it with sprint
Idk if it can be unlocked for domestic use. Instead of taking the chance, buy a phone that's specifically meant for your carrier. You'll get maximum performance. I think you'd regret it if you got a sprint phone hoping it would work on tmo, no matter how sweet the "deal".
Sprint wont unlock it for international use.
So its up for sale on ebay
Ya seems sprint are being very bad pricks about unlocking these phones... They have the worst customer service I have ever talked to . I am a pc tech and have to be on hold all the time. And sprint by far take the cake on customer service
T-Mobile uses GSM still right? So even if it was Un lockable the phone would only work on a CDMA network.

It was a joke. And Bell South/Cincinnati Bell all the other Bell's were AT&T. Cingular had no part of AT&T until AT&T bought em up. I had to sell against all of them for Sprint, so I knew all about that. Would be nice to work for Cingular back then before the buy-out. Their sales reps were making $60 commission per line on a new contract. $30 on an upgrade. Most we ever made was in the month of December $12 for a new line, $7 upgrade. Made quite a bit when one of the first Sanyo flip camera phones came out. Think I sold 35 in one day working @ a mall kiosk.
Feel bad for the sales guys who had to feed their family on commission checks bc all of the commissioned sales reps were eventually done away with. The race was over and the American dream, you could argue, went away with it...
Ahh, satire. That's how life was back around the turn of the century. Gimme a break, I'm old!
I know someone was working on internationally unlocking the device without sprint. Doesnt look like they got it yet though.

No LTE no matter what you do, the device is CDMA period! You can not change that, so yes, you can unlock, but chances are you will get 3g only!

selling a sprint phone

Not really sprint note 3 related, but I upgraded my phone to a galaxy mega last month decided I didn't like it went back to a note 3. I can't return my mega since it's after the 14 day period. Can I sell it and still pay the 17 dollars and change on my bill still? Or does the balance have to be paid in full before I can sell it?
You can sell it, but in till sprint is happy (get there money) they can/will black list it.

No, as long as the phone is tied to your account, it can't be activated on someone else's.

thanks well reason I asked is cause I bought a note 3 again and didn't want the mega to just collect dust. But I asked sprint they said it's fine

Have to wait til the 11

To get my device. I can't find it anywhere early. I checked swappa and there have been a couple for sale. The developer version does not catch LTE so I'm stating away. Anyone else having a hard time finding one? I'm not on AT&T btw I'm on AIO prepaid lol unlimited everything 55 a month (including LTE)

It has been stated by multiple users that the unlocked and dev versions are based off of the att version. I can't see a reason why you can't get lte.

Apparently they've been lying. I'm not sure but 3 eBay listings say the same and I'm just cautious about it. I'd rather get AT&T version just to be safe

unlocking for GSM?

so I just got my hands on a sprint LG g3 and on the box it says that it can be unlocked for GSM. is there any way to do this and bypass sprint unlock and get for me so that I can use my AT&T sim card in there?
try to edit the build.porp like g2

I would also be interested in how to accomplish this.
Unlock G3
What happens when you put a GSM Simcard ? As I know all should be GSM unlocked like my Verizon G2.

They would not unlock it if you paid full price from sprint either .....has to be on the account for 90 days ...and Bill has to be up to date etc ... they don't have to unlock it ... they do it only because some sprint people actually travel and it's nice to be able to pop a sim in ....vzw only had unlocked phones because they have to from fcc .... Maybe people should just buy a gsm phone if they want use it on gsm
Sent from my SM-N900P using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
They also limit the number of phones you can unlock per year. I travel a lot and have a lot of phones so it's frustrating for people like me who like to use their CDMA phone as their int'l GSM phone as well...

I think you are just missing the point. It would be much more practical if every phone was unlocked for cdma or gsm use like the Nexus 5 is. I have a Nexus 5 I bought from Sprint and it runs on Att right out of the box. This is how all phones should be. I happen to have Sprint and Att accounts and its great to be able to swap phones between them without a huge hassle.

I am not missing the point this is a 600 dollar phone and these people want to get it cheap and unlock it instead of paying more for it .... it's people trying to rip off these companies ... the full price of this phone is right at 600 but you can get it with bad esn for like 200 ... it's just people being cheap
There are threads just like this on note 3 s4 S5 g2 etc for sprint all the same
The Nexus from Google was 400 to start out off contract
