cannot press power button in cwm - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

here's my problem,
my phone keeps on restarting whenever i reboot it.
ive tried full wipe, wipe partition and wipe dalvik cache.
ive also tried flashing custom rom via cwm and stock rom in odin which is I9100XWLS8_I9100FOPLS3_FOP
in cwm, power button isn't working..
when trying to choose a zip file, pressing power button
isn't working but touch function works well.
in odin just flashed stock rom this morning, but when it tries to boot, same problem occurs, it keeps on restarting..
i hope someone could help me ..

What you have, is a bootloop, which occurs when you don't do a full wipe before flashing a new rom..
And maybe the cwm you use doesn't support the clicking of the power button..

Maybe POWER button is faulty.Try to flash DorimanX Kernel.

i have manage to boot my phone,
turn on phone, while booting, i have to hard press the upper button of powermenu.
when it booted, i try to lock my phone (screen off) using powermenu and it wont work. powermenu option didnt showed up too..
but when i tried to screen off using the icon in dropdown toggle, it works fine.
yesterday after work i went to a technician, he said nothings wrong with it, and the only problem is the program.
but i already flashed it in stock rom and custom roms, i did full wiping to flash a clean rom.
this morning, i was thinking that the problem was the efs folder, but when i look into the efs folder in root system there it was.

i hope someone will help me..

When in recovery try the menu button.

in recovery all keys are working except for the powerbutton .

And what happens when you select an action and press home?
Siyah v6 works that way.

pressing home button works fine too.. the only problem is the power button key, ive tried a keytest and it dont really work.

Does it work as normal. If you push power will it turn screen of and on? You could use twrp as It dont use buttons edit: I read power button dont work at all?? Go to a better tec.
Also that efs bit is lock screen not power button. If it was gone it would still turn screen on and off and work just no lock screen:thumbup:

[Q] Vibrant will not Boot, Please Help!

Problem:
When i tried to turn on the phone it will show the Samsung I9000 and Vibrant screen and turn off .
If i have it plug to the charger I will see the battery image turn on and off on the screen.
I can get the phone to download mode by VOL UP + POWER. VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER just boot the phone i a loop.
There was a time that i was able to get into "android recovery menu" but it doesn't work properly (vol up will scroll down, vol down will scroll up, power button (for selection) doesn't work)
Thing i tried:
using odin3 v1.70
flash pit 512 + PDA T959UVJFD.tar (flash was sucess but still got the same problem)
Is this a hardware problem that can't be fix or software problem that can be fix ?
Please help

thank you for your reply, can someone else please confirm if i have a problem with my hardware or not ?
If the hardware rom is corrupt could it be fix with jtag ?
thank you
Just a suggestion, but when you flashed with Odin, did you select "repartition"?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
i did it with and with out that option and still getting the same result!
When you're powering the phone on with volume buttons, are you releasing the power button (but still holding the volume buttons) at the first Vibrant screen?
Edit: Nvm, I just read about button problems in recovery...

If you can still get into recovery. The LED buttons on the bottom of the phone work the options as well. The menu button is Back and the back button is SELECT or OK. Maybe that will help

By flashing via Odin with a stock rom, you'll loose CWM. You have to flash CWM again to get it back. But as you described it, you can't even get into Recovery mode (blue Samsung recovery screen with HOME+Power button combo)?
^^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If u can't get to recovery mod then flash a new firmware from sammobile via Odin
I had this problem also.
I reloaded a new stock rom from sam and loaded it with odin, after the install I turned the phone on with the power button + the home button and did a factory reset and wipe catch.
And that worked.
u need to hold the power button + home button till you get in the menu.
I came from cm7.1 and went to stock rom 2.3.5.
Hope get it. Otherwise post your steps from which rom you came.
Stuck Booting to Rom Manager Recovery
I'm the stock att rom on 2.3.4. I had my phone for a while but never backed up my ROM. I performed a permissions fix and rebooted. I selected backup ROM and it rebooted. The phone tried to reboot but got stuck trying to boot to recovery menu. I hit the volume button and got the Rom M. recovery menu. None of the options work. It just shows an icon and does nothing. If I hit the volume button it goes back to menu. I've tried to reboot several times and it keeps on booting to a non functional Rom Manager menu.
I'm done my searches and I'm no luck. Is there a way to recovery without completely wiping the phone? I'm hoping there's an easy way to recover the boot using Odin?
Here's exactly what I did in that situation .. take the battery out and leave it out for about 2 hours.. this will totally deplete your phone of any kind of power.. after your done put it back in and it should boot up perfectly! If not try to take it out for longer
Depending on which version of cwm you are booting into...what button are you using to select? Most of them its either power or the home button. Try the home button to select.
Thanks for the response but I don't see how this would fix the problem as it boots from internal storage and not the memory. I'll try it while I'm doing research and waiting for more responses.
Much Thanks!!!!! Karashta. Selecting the home bottom to select instead of the power is the proper way of selecting the menu's.
ok...
just to be sure (no big chance to get it working but maybe...?):
Press POWER and VOL- for a few seconds, till screens goes black and then POWER, VOL- and VOL+
Navigate with VOL- to Recovery and than press VOL+
In recovery, if there's no to press VOL- and VOL+ to display, if it's already there do a cache wipe and a data wipe / factory reset.
if it's still not working, you should go and send it for a repair
PS: After data wipe you will lose every changed phone setting and downloaded app! Be sure you saved every important thing!
just partially...
but think about it. if it's not working and you'll send your phone to be repaired... You'll get a new one with nothing on it but the stock ROM... I don't think they will repair these touch buttons, but they will replace your phone with a new one.
[Q] Phone reset
Hi guys,
I forgot the pin-code to my Galaxy S2, not to the sim, to the phone.
I can't go into recovery mode or download mode, due to a broken home-button.
Is there any way I can like hack the pin, or reset the phone without having to use my home button?
Maybe by using my pc or something?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Man I thought it was impossible to get into download mode but you got me there!
Unfortunately I do not see the "Clear Storage" option.
The volume down button gets me into a reboot.
Volume up gets me to downloading.
Is there any way I can get into recovery? Or download something to the phone that resets it?
And eh, multitasking, that is kind of hard with no home button.
The back button gets some more use since the home button has died haha
Problem is, I cannot acces my phone so I can't install apps
I'm thinking about flashing another rom, only I can't wipe cache and factory reset before doing that.
What are the risks of that? And is there a big chance of this going wrong?
Thanks, flashing right now.
Had flashed a few hours ago, but still got asked for the pin.
Though then I had to register the phone (name, language, that stuff) and after that I was in the phone, and did not have to enter the pin.
Doing that again right now, hoping to get to settings and then get to factory reset
Thanks for your help so far.
Then another question popped up:
To get another kernel I need recovery mode right?
And to get rooted I need a rooted kernel?
So can I root my device without home button and without recovery menu?
