[q] does anyone know what version of the mega this is???? Help please! - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Bought this from a guy on craiglist here in Dallas in the United States. CANT FIND ANY INFO ON IT! IT IS FOR SURE A REAL SAMSUNG, someone flashed a US Cellular ROM to it and that changed all the information. Anyone have any info that can help me. It has LTE, CDMA and EVDO.
I am so confused....

No this is a 6.3" phone. Looks like my Note 2 and the S4 combined but much larger. Has most of all of the new the features of the S4 as well. I am very familar with sammy devices I even called them and they could give me no info on it.

Also if you look at software version 4.2.2 that is too new for the Aviator. It also has a newer MD2 baseband and the kernel in it was built just like 5 days ago. I am pretty sure this is a development device. I cant find a proper ROM to flash to it either. I have tried LTE and GSM and CDMA versions. No luck. If you google device information I can find a few quadrant and open 3D benchmarks that have been run but that is it.

This is the Samsung Galaxy Mega

Looks like its a real model. But I still have my doubts...

Got it
Took me some time but I got some software on it that worked. It was legit. But I sold it for 400.00 and had paid 200.00 for it. So all in all I was happy lol.

What should I do to get it on the AT&T network?
I have already purchased the phone and the sim card from AT&T is already on its way here.
I have tried searching but I only find threads on rooting and flash custom roms but I havent found one that states which rom would work for International phone on ATT's network
Any help would be appreciated. Cause I am now worried I bought a $700 paper weight I cant use.

The international one WILL work on at&t, I think the op was kind of misleading.
It seems slim thought you were asking if international roms will work on US S3.
Tbh I thought the same.
Any rom in the development section here will work on your phone. No problem.
Just as long as its the international model, GT-I9300.

My bad. Yeah, it's one of those confusing sentences. If you have I9300 then whatever is in this board will work.

US Cellular GS3

I am thinking about switching to US Cellular and getting the GS3 from them. Is the GS3 rooted yet? Is the bootloader locked or unlocker?

I would love to know this as well, as I am ditching VZW for this phone on USCC. Better signal, customer service where I live. I hope there is going to be support for this version of the phone.
Indeed, U.S. Cellular is king in Wisconsin!
I'm going to dump Sprint for an S3 on US Cellular. I too am interested whether I will be able to root.
I saw on TeamUSCellular.com that there may be a $100 billing credit starting on July 16th.
I have the USCC GS3 (SCH-R530) and rooted it via the method used for Sprint phones. Works great!

I9035 in America

Hi I was wondering if the I9035 will be released in America?
If not, where can I buy it?
And also, would I be able to use any carrier like tmobile or verizon?

You actually mean I9305 which I own but I am from australia. There was a user from the US on t-mobile and he stated it worked Only on Edge... Dont ask me what Edge is.. I am thinking it is like 3G... Unfortuanetly the device will not work on your 4G network. One user purchase his from ebay for $800 I beleive it is still showing and here is the link. Location is apparently in Texas, Houston.... Only thing is its only in Black.. I myself have the Grey_Titanium which I love!... But hey if you love black gadgets your in luck!

Will they eventually release it in the US? Should I wait and get this model or just buy t-mobile one right now?

I dont beleive they will officially release this I9305 in the US because you have your own S3 variant of the 4G already.
edge is 2g
but there are some regions of tmo that actually supports the 1900mhz band.

yup, the i9300 is indeed compatible with AT&T's 3G (i'm using it right now as we speak). In some regions, T-Mo's 3g also works, but there's a link somewhere that shows you exactly where the 1900mhz band is in use.
@OP
if you're going to get the tmo (USA) version, you should check out the appropriate forum for it (no sure what the exact model number is, but you'll find it). Flashing anything from this forum would most probably brick your new phone (due to differences in some hardware and software).
here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1706
and the rooting guide is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900345 (it's the sticky in the Q&A forum)

note II i1317m Am I in the correct side forum?

I'm trying to make sure if my variant of the note II is this one. I live in Puerto Rico and the company called Claro bought Verizon. so to my understanding this would be the verizon version of the phone.... I'm a noob to the note II and this company so I'm trying to make sure before I attempt to flash anything. so yeah that's basically it am I in the correct place? Under model it says I1317m I am currently on 4.1.2
No Verizons' version is the i605

It depends on the rom you have. I have an at&t rom running on my phone so it says different I605 although i'm on verizon.. Depends on the rom you are running and what you like.
If you bought it through Verizon it's the I605 if it was purchased through another company it'll be their model number

You answered your own question. You have the i317M. Based on this chart, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_II#Variants, your model would be most similar to the ATT version.

[Q] Where are the ROM's?

I just purchased my S5 yesterday (April 17th), but I regret selling my M8. I thought the S5 would have more dev support and more ROM's than M8, but I guess I was wrong. On the T-Mobile M8 Android Dev section there is a GPE ROM and a RUU to covert the M8 to stock android.
I was expecting like 5-10 ROMs on the S5 already (as was with the Note 3), but I guess I'm wrong? Or can I flash ROM's meant for the non T-Mobile S5?
That's my main question.
Where are the ROM's?
wow really?
Impatient much?
You do realize that this phone came out less then two weeks ago.
And I am sure that not that many people have jumped to this since there were so many people that develop that are already on the s4 and the s5 is not that much of a upgrade for them to switch.
Not to mention that the AT&T and Verizon cariants are not rootable yet and more developers are typically on those networks to begin with.
Give it a little more time for the others to get root and developers to move over and get used to the different setup and roms will come.

You can flash the international ROMs but you'll lose WiFi calling. Remember that this device has barely been out a week and already on back order for many potential purchasers. Be patient, custom ROMs will come soon enough.

Haha I could care less for WiFi calling, my DSL is 2MB/s anyway, so its not like calls through WiFi even work.
That was my question, so now I will begin downloading Echo ROM.
Last question, will I lose 4G LTE flashing these ROM's?
Thanks!

Well just saying the M8 has more ROM's and even stock android flashability (made that up )
Seriously though, there is a GPE ROM for M8 that allows you to flash back to stock still, and the RUU Google Play Edition, which essentially converts the M8 on T-Mobile (and other carriers) to a GPE version of the M8 permanately.

I haven't tried it, but I would assume it works fine as long as you keep the T-Mobile firmware. There is some discussion in the general thread about people running the international ROMs as well as in the international forums, look around. I think we'll start seeing custom ROMs built from the T-Mobile base sometime next week at the latest, I'm content with root for now.

There are no gpe version of the s5 so that makes getting that much harder. And really only 3 roms for the m8. The stock, the gpe, and venom (modded stock).

I agree, but the M8 Android Dev thread still has more threads, when it had a locked bootloader! You can argue since its easy to unlock etc, but come on. I remember when the S4/Note 3 had dozens of ROM's in like 2 weeks.

I'm thinking of upgrading as well, but coming from carrier specific devices (the Samsung Infuse, ATT only, and the Nexus 4 on Simple Mobile), there hasn't been different variants. So the T-Mobile devices is compatible with ROMs built for the international variant? Would the kernels for it be compatible as well? The only thing that would be lost would be the carrier specific additions such as built-in VOIP? No differences in partition layout?

It did flash? Wonderful! Please let me know if the issue with 4G is kernel/radio based, or just due to a missing/selected APN.

APN shows T-Mobile, so I believe its just a kernel/radio issue. It's up to you if flashing a custom ROM is worth no LTE.

You need to verify the T-Mobile APN. Maybe the settings are not for T-Mobile LTE. I had the same issues after my flash but I am on AT&T. Just make sure the APN settings match that of T-Mobile LTE. Carriers have more then one APN.
