Android Advice - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a car media system which has android 4.0.4 ICS on it. I need advice please on why my GPS UTC time is 3 hours earlier and the local time is 2 hour earlier than the system when I run an app called GPS Test. I am in the UK.
Here is my build.prop info as I also would like to know if there are any firmware upgrades I can do without flashing the wrong one. The system is rooted.
Does this look right to you??

[DEV] Phiremod 7.1 Market Fix NookColor

I'm perhaps in a bit over my head, but I fixed a market problem (missing apps) on my first generation Nook Color with Phiremod 7.1 and the accompanying Gapps by tweaking the build.prop file.
I was hoping to finally go away from BN's software forever now that the Nook app handles magazines (my main use for the reader), and since the Economist app came out for Android.
The Nook app was broken in Phire 7.1 in that the library would "stack" all the magazines together.
Economist didn't even show up in the market; but both worked on my MN 1.3.1 install, so I figured it was config related.
Here's where I'm in over my head - in that I have only the vaguest idea how the build.prop works.
First, I tried copying the ManualNooter build.prop over the Phire one. Bootloop and a trip back to Clockwork.
Then, I tried kind of merging the build.props thinking the problem was somewhere between the fingerprint, device ID and the resolution.
I'm happy to say that the following build.prop fixed all my problems.
Maybe this will mean something to one of the group's more hardcore hackers...
Mods, feel free to move, delete and/or tell me I'm a moron. Just trying to give something back.

Fantastic. Also fixes the issue I had with "this device is not compatible" when trying to get many apps from the market when using phiremod 6.3
Will be staying with this until there's a good ICS rom.

Additionally, I started using an app called LCD Resolution to adjust the screen density after booting. After boot, I set the resolution to 170 for usability. The Nook app doesn't like resolutions lower than 170; reverting to the "stacking" behavior that makes the app mostly unusable.

[Q] Problems connecting to Wifi

Hi All,
I've been having a few issues on my S3 with connecting to any wifi network for a while now. I've tried 3 different ROM's (Samsung JB, CM10, Codename Android) and countless modems (currently back on BULG2 all with no change in behaviour). I've also been messing with the build.prop but have restored to stock again (see below).
The issue is when I go to connect to any wifi, I see it on the list, press it then it instantly loses all but one bar of wifi signal and sits there saying "Connecting..." then flickers back to the "Secured with WPA/WPA2 (WPS available)" screen and retrys... This goes on in a loop.
Any ideas how I can fix this? I've exhausted my ideas and Google...
Many Thanks - Trev

Flash back to stock ICS via Odin and then reflash CM10 etc I had this problem and it worked for me
The stock ICS out of the box is LG8
And for future reference, never edit build.prop, That only makes more problems

Thanks - I was dreading that answer but I reverted to stock and re-upgraded to Codename, all working rather nicely now. I'll leave the build.prop alone now, I was just having a play to see how much trouble I could get in )

[Q] Tablet S won't upgrade

I bought a Tablet S refurbished almost two months now and since I got it I haven't been able to do the OTA upgrade to 4.0.3, every time I try to update it I either get a failure to download error or it downloads the update and it stops a quarter of the way during the install after reboot and then it starts and gives me an error code 5. I'm pretty much frustrated and I'm this close to selling it, Is this a common occurrence? Is there a simple way I can root the tablet and download and install the update?
PS. Would the fact that I bought the tablet in the US and I'm now in the Caribbean have any bearing on this?

So I emailed Sony and they say it is a RAM problem and the device has to be serviced...needless to say its outside of warranty. Has anybody ever experienced this?

You will need to use 4.0.3 or higher, you can not install 3.2.1 if you are allready on it. Can you please upload your /system/build.prop and tell me the exact model code from the back near charger plug. I will have a lookskey and point you to the right file

Oh you are on 3.2. Also you are US region?? Then look here http://www.4shared.com/folder/LwQh2332/SONY.html the file you want aka 3.2.1R2 is 0042.001.zip. NB: If you install ICS R1a or higher (i think) you can not go back to HC. If you like it then stay. also note that this 3.2.1R2 IS ROOTABLE
EDIT: If that does not work then please try 0035 then 0042

Search for "CREATE OWN ROM FOR ANY ANDROID DEVICE" in this forum, I cannot provide the link as I am a new user
Maybe you can make a ROM out of your working tablet to flash on the bricked one...
Good luck

This is ridiculous, I don't want to start this sort of Q/A thread because of the idiotic 10 post rule.

Yep, that command is responsible for the partitions. Should be fixed now.
But that shell/logs aren't working is not a good thing. Somehow they refuse to load. Probably the shared objects/libs are wrong as well.

Try the attached one. It has the D9 kernel again (but your drivers).
You might need to check how to flash that. The aliases (/dev/block/recovery) seem to be broken. If i check your last working twrp log it should be nandg.
Code:
busybox dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/block/nandg bs=1M
You flashed the wing-k70 recovery (not the wing-inet)?

If ADB works you can always flash it back. If not you have to fiddle with LiveSuite/PhoenixCard and you probably need a full dd image of your /system partition. But i never needed that so far and i cannot help you with that.

Thx, nice file size now...
Regarding both images.. I'm quite sure about picking the right touch drivers but i cannot make sure about additional dependencies or loading order. Its possible that it needs some additional tweaking. If anything is not working post both logs again.
Let's see if it runs...

Oh man. I´ve got firmware for restore via Phoenixsuite.
Was first i did, searching that for develloper Tab without danger..
I don´t know......whats your screen resolution?? And specs..
If it´s similar...can upload for you.
And them i explain you what to do for install this firmware by Phoenixsuite.
I think you´re on same situation like me at begin..
With the broken partitions, and without being able to recover...
The case is that today, I am very busy. But to the evening I will return to try it.
