Share your thoughts about Android 5 Key Lime Pie - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

i openned this thread to share your opinions and thoughts abour KLP ,
do you guys think we can get the update officialy from sony ?
like xperia X10i ?
i would say it could be possible , because sony updated the x10i from 1.6 to 2.1 and they thought to update to 2.2 Froyo , but they skipped the update ,, and suddenly they released 2.3 GB..
you guys think sony skip JB update and bring us KLP ? , because KLP also requires lesser source and hardware
..

99.99% Sony will not make it for us (they don't even fix current bugs). We can only hope custom roms will work without serious bugs.

Hoping our experienced developers will bring us roms with klp!!
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using xda app-developers app

Don't expect klp officially, tell me onething how could you expect klp officially,If we get custom Rom also I would be happy when it released, may expect release in October...Google planning to release 4.3 in July no major difference in ui but analysts say lot code changes internally...

It won't happen before all Oems upgrade to 4.3 and afaik Google is giving more time to them and about Klp, I doubt it's possibility on any of our 2011 devices if any of hardware requirements change.... And devs have been or only hope since the early days for our devices.. After all, let's be frank.. SONY just gave us ICS.. But devs provided us with 4.2.2, Ubuntu which I personally had not even imagined of on our little devices

Xperia U jellybean?

Hey I wanna ask if there will be JB for our xperia u
I read somewhere that JB will be available on 2013 is that correct?
Thx for your time
We dont know yet for the official, but XU will get CM10 from FXP I guess.

Of course it'd get JB. Actually, a selected 2011 models are supposed to get JB. So, no reason why an NXT device wouldn't be

That's Sony. They bring updates nice and slow. But, they don't drop out their devices. Else, we'll have it the unofficial way

Well actually they drop their devices, like they did with x8 its got only 2.1 official firmware, but since Xperia U is anew device we will get ICS and in nearls future i hope JB. Sony is slow with their updates but they dont like other manufacturers, they did their updates unique and smooth like butter and tottaly different from others and for that they need some time
I remember the x8, I still have 2 of them. Both run bug free 2.3 overclocked and they never give any problems. I would have enjoyed the phone a lot less if it were not for the amazing devs over there, stock 2.1 is very limited and boring. I hope sony dont forget about the U and deny us JB. @dsaklein its nice to see a familiar name around here, x8 was getting a little old.

I hope we will get JB official update, but on the other hand we will get CM 10 with JB and by the time official JB update comes we will have tons of custom firmwares and kernels to choose, so it wouldn't be such a problem.

Yeah thats your opinion, we shall see
My opinion is that this is pointless.. I mean Sony is listening to their customers but I don't think they will update their old devices considering how many devices they released this year. They will only update their dual core phones and maybe not all of them. They might as well update some of the new single core ones (like the Xperia J). Our phones are very capable of the Jelly Bean update but everything is just a marketing trick! They want us to buy their new phones.. and I'm not talking only about Sony. All manufacturers do that.

really bad....
Actually it's not so bad We have 2011 xperia phones... Now it's 2012, near 2013 In 2013 i'm planing to buy Xperia V or if it happens Xperia Nexus
That's a shame, FXP is just focusing on 2012 devices, but 2012 devices still get official updates from sony, sony even ported aosp to xperia S so why worring about them?.
We need a developer like nAa, who managed to port a fully working cm7 and cm9 to the x10mini/pro and x8, he is now working on cm10 (minicm10), which runs jb almost as smooth as gingerbread in first generation devices!
We need you nAa!!

Lolz. I bet ull hate samsung. Nd xperia devices jst rock. Although service centres r irritating ones nd ppl der r dumb, bt xperia phones have caliber of dng everything a smartphone can do, example take galaxy s2 it has much better processor then neo v but its stl on ics that also 4.0.3. I guess it was a high end phone. samsung updates only its new flagships asap by d tym u buy note 2 , note 3 will b in market or s4.. Then ur note 2 will stay on jb no longer updates if dey come they ll come rarely. Nd ace plus same processor like neo v and samsung promises jb for it. I wonder hw it ll support jb..

Okk...if you guys say so...i will think about it.
Actually the thing is...updates to a newer android version don't matter if your hardware can't handle it good...what matters is the current firmware should be so refined to exploit the phone's resources at its best...what's the point of adding new features when the basic functionality is suffering.
In our case...our device lacks ram and is single cored...let's put aside the core thing...it simply struggles for ram in ICS and JB. And whatever hardwork teams like cyanogenmod may put into it...they can't provide full functionality that OEM provides...so in my opinion...maintainance updates are much significant...as they bring to you a better phone...not just a new interface with crippled functionality.
You may add various tweaks and improve the firmware to your liking...but the overall experience will not be as the OEM intended to be.
The precis is...even if a manufacturer doesn't update to the latest android version...it provides maintainance updates which are crucial...and samsung does it...and besides the updates...its phones are already loaded with functionality...and a phone with quad-core cpu and 2gb ram is more than sufficient unless one intends to carry a PC in his pocket...which is always thethered to the power outlet.
And the complains about exynos...they have been acknowledged by samsung.
And those who say Sony has ditched 2011 devices...sony has already supported us for long to the extent our devices can handle...it gave us ICS despite the limited resources our device has. And being a global company...it too has to survive. It has to concentrate on the competition. Accusing it of abandoning us is totally unfair. There was no lifetime commitment sony had signed with you...you bought the device and sony supported it as long as the device needed it.
Dont think of me as an advocate for sony...i am simply pointing to the fact that whatever firmware is on the phone...it should be perfect in utilizing phone's resources...not a burden on the phone's head.
Pheeewwwww..........sorry...too long a debate.
These are only my views...those who differ in opinion...simply ignore.

Thanks mate...i have already read your thread...and before that i have tried swap on system of about 150mb...multitasking becomes awsome but whatever media you use for swap...be it SDcard/nand...its life degrades eventually.
And i am not that well off to replace my card every 4months...and not to mention the terrible performance hit when the trade over takes place.
Thats why zram is better.
And i think any ram size below 1gb is inadequate for android 4+.

Certain phones will skip a version if they are slow getting updates and the phone can handle the update. An example is the developer edition HTC One which is on 4.1 and getting skipped to 4.3.
However, my main point is that the only phones listed which will get the 4.4 update are the newer devices. Things like the S2 or Xperia U will not get those updates because they either can't handle the update or the manufacturer just doesn't want to upgrade them that far.

What was the XU's latest official update? Was it 4.1.2 or 4.2?
Either way it would still need to go to 4.3 so that Sony could know the device could have enough power to be able to run the update smoothly and efficiently.

Just because it's developed to be able to perform "well" on 512mb RAM devices, it doesn't mean that all devices with 512mb RAM will get the update. Only those which the manufacturer's chose will get the update. Sony are obviously going to focus on their newer devices (just like any other OEM) because they know that the newer phones are better equipped to have the update.
