Possible stock Android for unlocked HTC One on DNA? - HTC Droid DNA

Will we get the stock Android without Sense from the recently announced unlocked HTC One to the DNA? Is it possible?

The version on the Google edition of the One isn't as stock as you would think. There was an article on XDA about how it isn't recieving updates from Google (instead its coming from htc). As well it is much larger than one would think compared to nexus versions of 4.2. I would say stick with CM10.1 to get the best AOSP experience.
Here is a link yo the article
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-editions-lackluster-or-leading-edge/
Hope this helps you in understanding why some developers will mist likely never want to port the ROM.

Leaked JB RUU with Sense 4.5 for One X

I'm reading in that thread that the system portion is corrupt, so it doesn't seem like it's going to be usable for anything.
Dang how did we go from Sense 4.1 to 4.5 so quickly? lol
Is it android 4.1 or 4.0.4? strictly a sense update?
Jellybean is 4.1.1

HTC tends to update Sense when it updates the Android version.
For example, I'm quite sure that the Evo Shift went from Sense 1 to Sense 2.1 when it got updated to Gingerbread, and the Evo 3D got updated from Sense 3.0 to Sense 3.6 when it updated to ICS.
It'll probably be much the same as Sense 4.0/4.1 but it'll have more JB features.
Since this is a jb thread I think sprint is doing a better job w updates. Reason I'm lead to believe this is I just got the update for jb on my gn meanwhile the vzw doesn't have anything official. So as long as sprint does a good job with approving it i think we will see jb by November as long as htc doesn't drag ass. It took 29 days from the one x getting updated to 4.0.4 to us getting it which is a rather quick turn around Imo.

You guys can probably port it. If the nexus s and galaxy s devices can port ics sense 4 from the tegra3 one x, you guys should be able to. Just plop the proprietary files in and change the build.prop and cm10 kernel and you should be set

I'm sorry, but Filet Mignon with Sense is still Sense.
im ready!! for some jelly bean babyyy!!!
This ARTICLE has a nice little tidbit of information in it:
Sprint has finally started rolling out Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G. The update starts this evening and will be available to all handsets over the next few weeks.
For those new readers that don’t quite remember the Galaxy Nexus, the device features a 4.65-inch 720p display, a 5-megapixel camera, and Android 4.0 ICS. The Nexus S, on the other hand, is Google's 2010 Android flagship and also runs Android 4.0.
The upgrade, which is standard over-the-air, includes a great deal of improvements with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. These include enhancements to the keyboard, a buttery-smooth UI, and more advanced notifications. The update also includes Google Now, Google's answer to Siri.
Sprint also says that it plans to upgrade various other devices to Jelly Bean. including the HTC EVO 4G LTE and Samsung Galaxy S3. We should be hearing more about those updates soon.
Per usual, there will be manual update options available if you don't feel like waiting for the OTA, and you can find the download link and instructions on Know Your Cell as soon as it's posted.
If you're not one for manual updates, Sprint usually rolls these out in phases, so you shouldn't have to way too long. They usualy arrive within a few weeks.
Are you excited about Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G?

I don't care if HBoot 1.15 isn't cracked before it's released, I'll still take that update.
So I attempted to port a sense 4.5 ROM based on 4.0.4, not 4.1.1 and it's stuck at the bootanimation and I cant get logcat going to fix anything
Really want to see the changes from 4.1 to 4.5.
For those wondering about the jump from 4.1 to 4.5 this is standard programming practice. This shows there were 4 minor revisions between the two. Those can be anything from adding or removing base apps to fixes or features added in. It is up to the developer to make decisions of what makes for a major upgrade.

I agree. I am not concerned with minor changes to Sense. In some cases you won't want to update anyway because of compatibility with kernel or other reasons.

Htc ONE Google edition?

After Sammy announced the S4 is coming out with the "vanilla" experience, the rumor mill started going crazy expecting htc to do the same, specially after one of their execs teweeted "wait".
Those rumors where quickly scuashed when another high up in the company tweeted that no htc was not planing a "vanilla" edition... However now the same guy (geek.com) that leaked that sammy was coming out with their has said that indeed htc is coming out with one as well.
So what do you guys think? And the big question would be, if they do come out with it, would we (T-mobile) guys be able to port it over and get OTA's directly from Google?

Exactly what I came to this forum for. If they do release it, can I port it over to my T-Mobile HTC One.
Since the only device announced at I/O was the S4 vanilla edition, I decided waiting around for a Nexus wasn't worthy it. I have the Galaxy Nexus, but I never liked the plastic feel of it and the S4 feels the same way, just with way better specs.
I've always liked HTC devices going back to the Windows Mobile days.

Yeah, I worry about Google's direction to slap AOSP on pre-existing devices (S4/One so far). Sure they don't need to design, engineer and product their own phone (Nexus 4) so from an infrastructure standpoint it makes sense. But once you start porting AOSP to multiple models, it will inevitably slow software releases because Google will have to ensure compatibility with varying hardware. Also, features will be missing that will make people upset (custom camera software, beats, multi-screen, etc).
Sure they will run pure AOSP, but at what cost (feature-wise)? That has me concerned.
Unless HTC/Sammy/Moto? release their highly configured software apps (camera, etc) independently, the AOSP experience on these currently produced devices will leave a lot to be desired, IMO.

Same goes for me. I could live without the gallery (although nice), beats (there are plenty of EQ apps out there), blink feed, and many others. the one piece i could not go without is the camera software! Sequence shot alone is stellar, and some of the other zoe features are great as well.
That said i am keeping my fingers crossed that the fine devs here will be able to port the camera software to the stock rom when it hits. If that happens this phone would be absolutely perfect in my eyes!

Yes, especially since the announcement did not say it would have TMO radios. I think this is basically an ATT device, similar to the 32 Gb unlocked version.

Zoe isn't on by default.
However, I found some pretty good uses for it. It's better than using the "action" shot setting. It's literally like taking freeze frames from high definition video. I've finally been able to get decent pictures of my dog. It's hard to get her to stand still.
The camera was the main reason that I stayed on stock but the aokp camera is actually really good

[Q] Do you think we'll be able to flash HTC One Nexus ROMs to our devices?

With the HTC One Nexus edition coming out soon, I just wanted to ask if we should be able to flash the ROM from this version to our devices and then get OTA updates via Google. It should work, right? The device would be basically the same device as we have now but with different software. The Galaxy S4 Nexus is basically just a rebranded and unlocked T-Mobile version, so it would make sense if the HTC One version was this as well.
Any answer to this would be pure speculation. We should find out fairly soon though as it's coming out in a couple weeks.

While I hope it is indeed true, this article is just speculation. There hasn't been any evidence, other then speculation, that has indicated that to be the case. I have no doubt the rom will circulate but I'm not sure if it will have OTA capabilities. That would be unprecedented in the industry.

I can't see why it wouldn't have OTA, considering it's like a Nexus device and Nexus devices have OTA updates.

[Q] What would be the best ROM for me?

Hello everyone!
With the new S-OFF Finally up to par, I now have unlocked my DNA! I am looking to switch from the 4.1.1 that comes with the phone to 4.2.2 but can't seem to make heads nor tails of the newer ROM threads. Here's what I am looking for:
Wireless Charging Working
HTC Media Link Working
SENSE 5.0 is a huge plus
Better Battery
Better Performance
Less bloatware
Root is optional
TOGGLES!!!
Please everyone, let me know your experience on what is the most complete ROM for this phone to use on a regular basis. I have tried looking over the ROM threads, but these days they look like a lot of tech info without the easy to read points in there
Thanks!

[Q] HTC One X/X+ 4.4 KitKat Update?

Twitter user Llab TooFeR (@LlabTooFeR) got tech fans speculating on the prospects for HTC devices after tweeting: "2012 devices won't get it...only butterfly/droid dna might 4.4..."
According to Llab TooFer, that means HTC One X, HTC One X+ and HTC One S won't be able to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
HTC hasn't given any official word about it ,JB required high amt of ram to run, google says that 4.4 is built in such a way that it can be feeded into phones which have low ram. What do you think about this?

If they won´t release newer sources for kitkat and next sense, they will hopefully give devs the necessary driver for AOSP ROMS !
4.2 has started rolling out for HOX/HOX+ , Samsung is skipping 4.2 update for s3 and note 2 and these devices will directly receive 4.3 update, Might be the same case with hox devices? As 4.2 has rolled out, they might skip 4.3 and directly launch 4.4 as it has low ram requirements too.

4.4? You have to be freaking joking. Half of us (including everybody in CID 044 Southeast Asia) still don't even have 4.2.2, close to seven weeks after it first started rolling out.
There is zero chance HTC will give any of us 4.4. And it has nothing with inability to run it; it's because they couldn't give a flying hoot, even about their supposed flagship devices.
If you buy from HTC, you're a sucker. I won't be doing so again.

Honestly, I believe that 4.4 will be the end of the road for us. I believe that they will give out 4.4 by the summer of 2014 and skip 4.3 entirely.
However as for Hox and Hox+ sense 5 and 4.2.2 , it's been released for a month now and if you hadnt received it you should quite soon, so don't give up.
The reason for my speculation. Is that HTC announced that they will try to satisfy their old customers and roll out updates for older devices. And the one x+ isn't that old yet.

In a couple of days, it will have been seven weeks since 4.2.2 first came out for some CIDs. That's nearly two months, not a month.
You know you are not getting 4.4 when it comes from Lloir. But maybe someone can make Rom carrying sense 6 with 4.4? Come on guys lets not give up. X+ is a beast phone, and it's worth developing.
I am still learning programming (java) and so forth and so on but once I could I will work on the development of this phone.
As for the previous post for my CID I got the update around the 22nd of august which is a month, but it wasnt meant to be accurate. Well if we aren't getting 4.4 I think we will get 4.3 atleast ?

Tegra is not only the CPU, its the chip set in the device, also nvidia need to update the kernel or provide HTC the drivers to get a newer android to work on the device. Which they won't support as I said tegra4 is released so little point to them to support it
Sent from my One X+ using Tapatalk 4
But then again, the 2012 Nexus 7 is a Tegra 3 device and I doubt Google won't push and insist for 4.4 on it.
So I guess Nvidia will support Tegra 3, and it would be up to HTC to decide whether to update the HOX(+) or not.
