[Q]Android Game screen to PC - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey XDA Devs!
I play Dead Trigger and other games on my GNote 2 using Sixaxis. I love the experience it is totally console like!
To complete the experience, I would love to hook it up to a larger display!
The thing is I don't have a TV with HDMI support. I have a PC running Win7Ultimate (x64). I've looked at many apps like webkey and stuff. They do work but for gaming I can't do with that choppy frame rate.
Hope you get what I am looking for. Awaiting your expertise XDAers!

Try bbqscreen from play store. Acceptable frame rates.

I got no idea but I'm sure u can get them cheap on eBay or amazon my graphics card for my PC came with a dvi-vga adapter. I'm assuming what u want to do is view it on a monitor right?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

Yeah. I'll check my graphic card out.
eBay and all I did check. It's kind of out of what I can afford right now.

Here's one for $8.88 can't really say how good it is since I've never used it

This guy uses mhl HDMI directly on a galaxy s4 and got 60 fps so it is possible to get 60 fps on a mhl but your speed may vary depending on the power of your device

Micro usb at the bottom?

Saw some detailed photos of the top of the device and only mini jack port was visible.
I'm not sure though.
Any intel on this one?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Yep, its at the bottom, there are some hardware tour hands-on vids on youTube from MWC that confirm it (possibly the GSMarena write up mentions it too).
Great, vertical desktop dock is now possible as well as more convenient car chargers.
Another reason to buy it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
omg every second youtube video shows the device in every angle.... and 80% of the MWC videos have the device charging...
Just so you know, this is actually a MHL port. What this does is it can send data as well as video and audio, so it can be used as a micro USB but also as an HDMI.
Pretty nifty, huh?

I assume it's 1080p output, it would be strange if it's limited to 1080i.

Slight correction: no charging from current TVs unless you have a dongle, in which case it will charge and playback on all current HDMI-input capable televisions.
According to a MHL preview video on youtube, it will playback the same as any other HDMI port. So if the phone supports 1080p playback, it will send that output to your tv through MHL port.
I have used phones that had it on the top (Captivate) Left (Atrix) and bottom (Nexus)
I like it the most on the bottom. The Atrix is almost unusable while charging in portrait.

You want the battery to last a week? Buy a dumbphone.

Netflix,Photon, HDMI

Does Netflix work on Photon using the HDMI to connect to TV?
It should because all the HDMI is doing is taking whatever is on your Photon screen and projecting it to your TV. We already know that Netflix is supported on the Photon so this shouldn't be a problem.
Yep, watched some MST3K and some ST:TNG already

just make sure you have the correct (good) cable. First one I had did not work well, the second one worked great.
TS out
i tried this yesterday and while i thought the capability was cool it does look kinda grainy on bigger TV's because its just blowing up the phone screen image. A way to improve resolution or a custom app from netflix would be really clutch, but I dont want to ask for too much. +1 for hulu working in webtop mode

Tv out, how does it work?

Just as the post says how does it work, I have the feature on my Rom and I went to Best Buy and bought their $50 dollar cable but I got nothing on my TV's. I think I got audio once but no picture so other than plugging the cable into the phone and into the tv and turning it to the right input what else us there because I did all of that?

Ya you do need to connect the wall charger, but for some reason does anyone know why it doesn't actually charge my phone? While using it my power drains very slowly.
The mhl adapter and phone is being charged at the same time. It's a weak charge to begin with when you aren't displaying anything. Just have to deal with it.

I knew this was going to happen, I am not talking about mhl's, I know how that works. I'm talking about the function where you can use the headphone port to use a RCA type cable to play or send images and or videos to your tv.
Does any one know how this function works?

I'm pretty sure that even though the ROM you're on may support it that this phone isn't capable of it. I've never heard of anyone getting that to work. Let us know if you do figure it out though. I just don't think that the headphone jack can output video. It only does audio. I believe its a hardware limitation.

Olympus trinity 3D beatless has it and I asked how it works but have not gotten an answer.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
You know that some roms are ported from other phones. Some settings will make its way over. There might be a setting for this, but from what I have been told is that the hardware will never support it.

This. What i do also is turn my screen brightness all the way down and it helps greatly to last longer while doing hdmi stuff
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
EVO 3D does not do this. Some put it into ROMs and said it worked, but no one has actually done it. This is hardware limitation. Anyway, use MHL it'll do HD and Dolby.
hi the first think sorry for my english
i saw in ebay .. the micro usb converter to hdmi its work for samsug galaxy s2 ... htc evo 3d... htc sensation ... its a small converter from the micro usb to hdmi .... i payed one in ebay ... and im waiting for that ... if that work i will write again here
write this in google and you will see with picture ...

Evo 3d uses mhl. I didnt think hdmi would work...

All the micro usb to HDMI i saw after a quick search were indeed MHL adapters. If you get a MHL, one end is male micro usb plug and the other is male HDMI plug.

Yeah, I used a Sanoxy adapter I bought for the SGSII and it works, but only at 720p, which was a limitation of the adapter, not the phone. If you don't care about resolution, it was only $6 at amazon.
That had to be laggy though right?

I bought this one for $10:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271175755581?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Works great mirroring every pixel on the phone at 1080p. Whole phone seemed a little laggy with it plugged in, but just a little. Playing video was smooth once it got going.
The Cable is perfect... HDMI to 3ft USB (for power) and 13ft MHL (for Phone). Charges while it displays. Awesomeness!
Hmm, I used my SGS2's MHL adapter too, and the picture disconnected in and out and made the phone choppy. On Tmobile H1 Stock Rom.
