[Q] Insufficient Storage - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm getting a lot of insufficient storage messages when trying to download new apps or update old ones. I've tried formatting, reinstalling the ROM, clearing data/cache, clearing market data/cache, and still nothing. I'm also unable to move my apps to SD card, the app I use gives me an error saying that the phone doesn't support it. Any ideas?

Are you rooted? Which app are you using to move apps?

like iampro said, are you rooted? what rom are you on? what app are you using to move your apps to the sd card? apps2sd doesn't work from what i understand, but foldermount does i think.

Yes I'm rooted, running liquid Rom. I've tried numerous app 2ad apps that I was able to install. I was unable to try foldermount because I can't install it.

I'm rooted and am having the same problem moving apps to sd.

Rooted on s4 stock rom. I use folder mount and it freed up some storage issues I had. It works great.

I tried this and had no luck. I am rooted on Beans ROM. Anyone know of a "how to" on doing this for our phones? It's driving me up a damn wall!

Anyone?

I am having the same issue but no one will answer on these forums... I found out that a while ago. Trying to find a solution gonna ask Virus on my infectedrom.com account as they always answer your questions. Seem to get left in the wind over here. Not sure I should have went Samsung if I would have known this. If I find a solution will post back. Try Busy Box. I couldn't install that either but can install other apps.

I take at least a bit of offense with your statement 'no one will answer on these forums'. There are many people at least trying to offer assistance. Where I have something to add I try, but there are many problems I've never had and have no idea on so I usually stay quiet. No need to clutter up the forums with 'no idea/ sort of posts.

I totally understand where your coming from, but look at the forums for this problem. It's everywhere with basically no answers. Seems like it would be more fitting to at least reply to a thread asking a question or else pretty much looks like no one cares... see my point? I haven't cluttered up any posts but if you look at the date they were having this problem and today's date seems like there would at least be some sort of response. If you asked a question and no one replied what would u think? you would rather have that then someone actually reply and try to help if they could or at least try and point you in the right direction? I am not trying to insult anyone as the devs work really hard at making roms and mods and so on. I am also a dev(only done wake up mods and small flash fixes, not claiming to be the best or anywhere near that by anymeans lol) haven't filled out the app but I have tried to look at it myself as well. That being said I would rather have a response than nothing at all. As I work mad hours doing IT/Programming. And no response just looks like no one cares not saying it is true just my personal opinion.
Sorry to offend you as that was not my intent. I try and help anyone I can as well. Just have more experience with HTC.

No problem I appreciate your insight, I think I may have found a way around this. Gonna try it and will post back instructions if it works. If not I have a second method which will take longer but would work. So its not a total loss and hopefully I will help some people out as well. : ) . :cyclops:

They should already be there. I posted them a while ago. Let me do it again. One sec

Screen Shots
Here are the screen shots. There shouldn't be 2 backups as I didn't even do 1. I did a titanium backup but I even erased that data to see if it would fix nothing .Thanks for any and all help in advance

Its suspicious that it only shows just under 10gb total...shouldnt it be like 14gb internal?

Please help some one. I tried doing the data wipe but its not doing anything at. I tried to get it to connected to my computer but its not working. So Please help somebody.
Wrong forum, post this in general as this has nothing to do w/ Android development. You will also need to DETAIL exactly what you did to get to this point, or no one can help you (your above explanation is very vague). See ya in the other forum

Also, I'd put money on a factory reset fixing it. From now on, don't do things unless you understand what you're actually doing. Not just with your phone but life in general.

As everyone has said before me, you will need to provide a bit more info.
However, my best guess is that you transfered over files from another phone to try and get rid of the current ROM that is on the phone. You not knowing how these things function, you assumed that swapping files would work just fine. As you found out, it doesn't work like that.
You will need to put your phone into "download mode" but holding vol up + vol down and then press the power button. You will do this while the phone is off.
Using the Odin software on your Windows PC you will need to follow this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728698
FOLLOW IT WORD FOR WORD and you should be alright.
Its just as easy to ask a mod to move this as to reply...
If you are rooted with clockwork recovery use the nannies flash from jac... If you are not rooted use the method from ms_guru, then root, then use jacs method.. Both of these can be found in the first post, "read before posting, informative links"

You have however been rude to community members. Don't think the community is all developers. Its not. Not everyone starts reading rules and manuals and shunning someone who might be helpful or at least better informed later is not what any community stands for. Like yourself I usually start ten steps ahead of everyone else. So I spend that time helping people catch up, not by insulting them.

[Q] Samsung Vibrant GPS Innacurate?

Seasoned Samsung Vibrant users,
I just got today Sept 30th my Samsung Vibrant, I hope that this GPS problem that I have it's just SOFTWARE and not HARDWARE problem and you may tell me with your experience / suggestions what this is about.
Before the Samsung Vibrant, I was using a HTC Mytouch 3g slide, the GPS on my slide has been very accurate, what I can tell you is that from my bedroom My slide detects properly my home address using Google maps, with Samsung Vibrant usually gives me an innacurate location using Google Maps as well.
I have turned ON the wireless and the GPS on Samsung Vibrant as I did the same with my htc slide and on Samsung Vibrant gives me around 40 to 50 meters difference with a wrong location,
I don't want to use WIFI because it’s not the case, why on my HTC Mytouch 3g slide I don't need WIFI also I won’t have WIFI everywhere where I go, so I want that the Samsung vibrant works at least the same or better than a HTC phone GPS hardware.
so my question Is that a hardware problem or software issue?
My HTC Mytouch 3g slide never fails where I'm in my bedroom or other place where I go and test it and this Samsung is getting me out of my nerves that isn't accurate at all.
HARDWARE or SOFTWARE problem?
If it is software I will wait, but if it is hardware, I’ll be very disappointed.
Thanks I really appreciate your answer about this issue,
I have 14 days to test it and if I'm not happy with it I can return it depending what this problem is.
OMG please use the search function.
It IS a software issue... vibrant is well knows for its gps to be messed up.. the new 2.2 is coming out in approx a month and it will have a gps fix and also make ur phone faster plus alot of other things

I have been trying to refrain from jumping on people for stupid posts, BUT ...
The gps issue has been an issue with the Vibrant since day one, and there are most likely hundreds of threads on it already ....
I know it is a little scary but that search box does not bite ...
Hell a google search of "Samsung Vibrant GPS" should tell you all you need to know ..
Come on people use some common sense and search first, at least pretend to search for the sanity of the rest of us ...

No i agree with you. I dont think I ever post questions here. I usually use my friend google and figure it out myself HOWEVER I also remember when i first got my very first android phone "G1" and was soooo lost at where to even begin. No offense taken , I just remember the old days of the forum, where this was a place to come learn, not to have the answers handed to you.
Seems everyone is looking for the quick fix these days, and really do not want to learn what they are doing or HOW it is actually done, then yell and scream at the people who help them that they broke their phone ...
EDIT:
Just to clarify I was on here almost 2 years before I asked more than a handful of questions, because 99% of the answers could be found by reading and searching, so it does get annoying that so many people want spoon fed these days.
It took you longer to write about your problems than it takes to search .

But I digress, you are right why should anybody here give a damn ....
OH because if nobody gave a damn, the people that get ask the questions would not know the answer either ....
No you speak the truth ppl should research, I had an off day when I posted sry if I sounded like a jerk. I do plenty of research on my own b4 doing anything to my phone, and if I brick it I have no one else to blame but myself. For example I have been researching the whole flashing with odin on my spare time, which isn't much still haven't got comfortable enough to try though. I just felt like the guy was getting slapped around a bit too much that's all.

[Q] Weird stuff going on with my phone

My phone has been acting up today. It has been very laggy/slow and it's as if my touch isn't being recorded well. Also, it froze for a while, and at one point, it got stuck and kept moving an app icon back and forth (shaking) repeatedly.
I haven't done a clean wipe yet, but it's sounding like a hardware issue.
Can anyone confirm? (Don't want to bother wiping and doing all my settings again if it is a hardware issue).

1) you've given absolutely no information to be able to help you.
2) if you're too lazy to fully wipe you're phone to see if that fixes the issue, why would you post a thread about it. Doesn't really sound like you want this issue resolved.
3) prior to posting this thread you should have: A. Fully wiped your device to see if that was the cause. B. Gave enough info for someone to be able to help you. Like what rom are you running. What kernel. Have you flashed any boot loaders. What have you tried yourself already in an attempt to fix the issues?
So basically it sounds as though you want others to do the foot work for you. That's not really cool dude.

No, I was just looking for information. You don't have to talk to me like that. It's a hassle to set up everything the way I had it, so if it is a hardware issue, I see no point in bothering with it. All I was asking if anyone knew if these were hardware failure symptoms or whatever.
Anyway... I'm on ICScrewed 2.1 with Entropy's latest GB kernel. No bootloaders or anything. Haven't really messed with my phone. And I don't know what to try to fix it. That is why I posted this. To see if any of these symptoms are familiar to anyone else who can give feedback instead of bashing me.
He's correct but it definitely could've been articulated a little more hospitable. This is supposed to be a helpful forum. One way you can be sure its not hardware is to go into the developer options and check the pointer location setting. That will tell you how android is reading your touch screen. But its more then likely the from try wiping cache/dalvik if not then you may have to do a full wipe. Sorry dude.

I've seen many of your posts. All you do is bash on people. Secondly, I know how to flash ROMS, and I don't run into very many problems. Thirdly, no one is born to be a genius that knows how to fix everything the second something goes wrong. Your logic is flawed. You're just an ass. And what does the title have to do with anything? This isn't JUST for developers. And I like how you talk about learning and growing, yet you just bash people who are starters. How do you expect anyone to learn like that? Grow up.

Save myself some hassle? That's actually what the point of this thread was. To save me the hassle of having to return to stock and what not and reapplying all my settings, tweaks, alarms, etc. But people had to be dicks and troll essentially instead of offering useful feedback, leading me to go through it all anyway. And I don't even know if this is going to fix it permanently. Furthermore, I like to gain information and know my options before I start doing stuff here and there.

This is the reason i posted what i did . You got your answer very early on, from a recognized developer noless. And my posts don't flame people or laugh at their mistakes or anything like that. Most of them tell people to search and read before flashing again, and if i remember where something is ill even point them in a general direction that will result in them learning . Im pretty straight and to the point. Nothing i do is personal on here. Good luck, hope your problem is resolved.

Update: The problem persists, even after going back to stock, re-rooting, reflashing, etc.
You should now determine if the behavior persists after returning to stock. I had issues on icscrewed as well, not the same, but issues. Also, why would you want to run a rom that mimics real ics roms when you have a ton of real ics roms that work great?

You have a lot of class to humble yourself and apologize.
It never hurts to have some tact. If you are truly annoyed enough to be rude to someone, don't bother replying.

I would have suggested you try that, and it didn't work. I'm not going to be overly help, it seems. :C

[Q] new ROM on my wife's S2 .... problems

I have been rooting and using custom ROMs since the earlier Galaxy Captivate days, so I consider myself fairly skilled in the art.
Today I set out to root and put CM9 on my wife's I777.
Got the phone rooted with the Zedomax kernel and I have superuser on the phone.
Reboot into recovery and I get CWM V5.0.2.3 All good, right?
Got the CM9 rom on the micro SD card and I select select INSTALL Zip from sdcard
Hit the powerbutton and I get a black screen with a hat and an orange circle.
To only way to get out is to hit the Power button.
None of the options work.
Only way to recover is to remove battery.
What is going on here? I must have missed something.
TIA Robert
Use the home key to select and don't use zedomaxs stuff. There is a reason his thread is locked here. His stuff is pure garbage

Home button? LOL
Anyway, before I wipe anything on that phone should I abandon this and use a different root method?
It is pretty hot and humid outside and I don't want to spend the next few days outside because I mess up her phone.

Care to elaborate on that? Not attacking by any mean, just trying to learn why you think that way. It worked fine for me, but maybe I am missing something.

You got his stuff from a different website, Used his guides and stuff. Why would you come here for support for his bull****?
Thats why.
Want support, use guides and tools from here.

I didn't come here for support for anyone's "bull****", I just hijacked (my apology) this thread to ask why you guys think it's bull****. As I said - not trying to attack anyone or anything or any method, I asked a genuine question. One would think you could spell out a genuine reason why it's crap. Too bad your tone rules this great forum. Just a simple question...geez. Thanks anyway.

Ever since he posted his kernel it has caused problems with people losing wifi and such. Then most of the new people come here complaining about the problems. Its best to use what is on this site to root and find a more stable kernel.

If your just going to flash cm9 then I wouldn't worry about using another method as your gonna override the kernel anyways. So just go ahead and wipe and flash and enjoy

Zedomax's first priority is building web sites that will make him money. He is only secondarily a developer of firmware, and evidently fairly talented. However, his mode of operation is to build a website with rooting tools for a phone, promote it for a few days, and then you hardly ever see or hear from him again. He's already moved on to another phone and another web site. So his tools get old and become unsupported. Some of the firmware he provides works as advertised, and some of it causes serious problems. Once he develops something, it seems he doesn't even care to determine if it is bug free. In particular for this phone, his rooting method seems to work, at least most of the time. However, his unrooting method causes untold problems, and even soft bricks. And people come here to ask how to fix the problems. Some have had fairly serious problems that are rather difficult to correct from using his tools. We've seen so many problems associated with his stuff that when we see the name zedomax, we immediately think, "ok I know what your problem is."
Thank you yoderk and creepyncrawly.
First of all I would just like to say that moto's post was uncalled for, this is a great site but i swear sometimes the people here can be a bit rude. anyway I agree you should stay away from zedomax's stuff ( no offense to him) you can use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081 i used it and vouch for it it has all the info youll need or use jivy root guide too Hth

[Q] Q: Back to stock?

So I know XDA is full of answers to this one, but it seems everyone either has some snarky comment like, "they won't check' or whatever. There are also some ok answers and tuts but some of it's confusing and a lot of the threads go off topic. So i'd like to ask, how do i get my phone back to stock? i have to mail my device back in for a warranty exchange as the speakers and camera stopped working suddenly.
My device is stock rooted, odex rom w/ TWRP. unlocked bootloader. Super CID and S-off. Tampered message gone in boot loader. My laptop runs Windows 8, which I'm having an issue getting the HTC manager to stay open for some reason, even after an uninstall/ reinstall of the manager and drivers. The drivers themselves seemed to have installed fine as my device is recognized as "my HTC" though when in fastboot, my comp will tell me the device is unrecognized. Using the stock usb plug that came with my phone and I've plugged in to both usb 3.0 and 2.0 ports. And yes, I do have ADB in the root of my computer, though I'm wondering if i need a different type of ADB since this is the one i used with windows 7 a while back..or does it matter?
I'd like to get things back to stock as much as possible and would be very appreciative. Thanks!
You complain about the snarky comments people make yet you make a thread on a subject that has been beaten to death and has a buttload of snarky comments every time because of it. Just read and you'll find your answer, it's not too hard

Really? Really bro? This is the dang troubleshooting section of the frigging thread, meant for asking questions like this, and ya gotta be a ****? Go die in a fire. You just reaffirmed my reason for not coming to this forum much. Rude, nasty people like you. Thanks so much.

Wow dude way to take what someone says on a forum way too far. I was in no way rude or nasty or a ****. You asked for that kind of response when you asked this question. Just because this is the troubleshooting section doesn't mean you shouldn't do your research before posting about a topic that's been beaten to death.
P. S. It's hypocritical to call someone rude and nasty and then tell them to die in a fire.

Maybe it would do you some justice to NOT go the route that I'd already forsaw. You were snarky and you response in no way solves a problem that I sat down for 3 hours trying to troubleshoot on an operating system I'm still learning since i just got comp last week. And maybe if you actually understood reading comprehension, you'd have seen that I'd obviously done my research, otherwise I wouldn't have made the conclusions I'd made in my OP. So yeah, I'm pretty pissed.

You could not possibly have researched for 3 hours and still had the need to post instead of doing what said research told you to do. It shouldn't have taken longer than 5 minutes to find your solution. Nothing I said was snarky you got the response you deserved and I don't care how pissed you are personal attacks are not allowed here.

Ok, whatever you say. i didn't do the leg work and i couldn't fin the straight forward answers I needed. It' cool. Someone was actually decent enough to point me in the right direction and not be rude about it.
Oh and for the record, what I really needed to know was how to go back to S-on and change the CID back to stock. I still have my files for the latter and i have an idea of what to do, but I'd rather not go testing crap out on a phone i'm trying to return.

Thanks for the quick reply. Um..I just ran into an issue and i hope it isn't a big one. First, the RUU won't run. And error pops up saying "make sure you have finished any previous setup and try again". I DLed this RUU straight from HTC.
Second, i'm in bootloader, tried to do a full reboot and instead it boots back into bootloader. Now on the top, the tampered had returned, as I used CMD to make it go away, and in pink is also a "security warning". The phone won't boot into anything else. The phone is locked. I got S-on with Revone, and i used CMD to write stock CID, which I rebooted each time to make sure nothing messed up.
Edit: Nevermind, after re downloading the RUU, I got it working properly and things smoothed out. Thank you again.

Don't exaggerate. I post that when it's necessary to post that. When help is deserved I more than gladly help but someone asking how to get back to stock does not necessitate a thread being made, hence my response.
