[Q] tablet z resolution - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
what's the optimal resolution for tablet z when viewing photos ?
I know the screen is 1920x1200, but to fit the home, return, and multitask icons it's going to be less.
I want to know what to crop my horizontal and vertical photos to..
thx, Roland

The display is best used to show full resolution photos, but obviously cropping to 1920x1120 is what you want to do if you want to fit it exactly. For wallpapers refer to your ither thread, its been answered.

[Q]Wallpaper size/resolution

Ok so I've decided to stop using live wallpapers as they eat up battery and break launcher pro if I underclock my CPU to save battery.
However I'm having problems getting wallpapers the right size.
I've tried resizing them to 320x480 but when setting them it still asks me to crop them and the crop box isn't even the right shape rectangle when maximised!
So what size should my backgrounds be to fit nicely on the screen?
Try 640 x 480. It worked for me, on Zeam.
For Optimus One wallpaper must be a resolution of 640x480, and all other phones with resolution 320x480.
thanks for the replies, i'll try it out.
It's because the background moves as you swipe home screens. Basically, android wallpapers should have the same height as the screen but twice the width.

[Q] Archos 101 wallpaper size

There is new version of crop wallpaper in market and this version can use define size of cropped picture.
Archos101 display is 1024x600
If those settings are set, I still get wrong size to wallpaper and tried many variations, but all are crappy.. HD pictures look like zoomed thumbs when set as wall.
Question: anyone knows what resolution should be set, to get best picture quality ??

The size needs to be 1200x1024 but in landscape mode only the top 600px are shown. in portrait mode everything is shown. that is the problem with wallpapers on android.
There is no way around that unless you resize you picture to 1200x1024 and leave the bottom 424px empty.
Or else use Multipicture live wallpaper but that is a big drain on resources.

[Q] Resolution of background image?

I want to replace the background image on my X10 mini pro (MiniCM7-2.1.8) with a photo, and now I am wondering, which resolution I should resize the image to.
This can't be such a stupid question after all, I tried to read up on the issue, but looks like a lot of people have problems understand how Android handles background images.
So the background image is panned across all homescreens (5 of them in the standard setup of MiniCM7-2.1.8) in a unique way, so the used background image can not just be as large as the physical display resolution.
Somewhere it was mentioned, the picture should be twice as wide as the physical screen, but I am not sure, if this really applies.
As the X10 mini pro has a 240x320 display, what has to be done, to use a photo which does not get cropped or stretched?
And how to overcome the problem with the display orientation, so once it fits for the 240x320 orientation, what happens when the phone gets turned resulting in the 320x240 orientation?

1 homescreen 480x320, 1 image 240x320 on the center
2 homescreens 480,320 2 images 240x320

MiniCM7-2.1.8, sorry

You don't need to physically resize image to set it as wallpaper. You can set one image as wp in many ways from default wp handler. ''Needed'' resolution is relative thing because of different number of home-screens that users have on their phones. Android handles this thing quite well.

For reference, the background picture needs to be 480x320 independent of the number of home screens.
So for any Android phone, it's always 2x horizontal and 1x vertical screen resolution.
It makes sense to prepare the picture in advance, because obviously it consumes less memory and can be used without cropping.

Wallpapers will have to be a higher resolution to account for the panning when you swipe across home screens. The wallpaper is not static. I do not know the exact resolution needed but i would make it bigger than neccesary then crop it to fit from the tablet. If you recall it gives a cross shape when you crop the wallpaper as it is different in landscape and portrait.
Alternatively you could make the 1280*800 fit as a static wallpaper using something like wallpaper wizadri from the play store, or static live wallpaper.
good luck
use an app called picspeed. when you go to the image and choose set as wallpaper, use picspeed as the program to set it. this will handle the task without the major cropping.
The resolution should be 1920x1408 to fit correctly.
1920x1408, still no good...
If i want to create my own wallpaper in Photoshop, do you know what size
it should be in order for it to fit exactly in landscape? i mean, should i take the pannig into consideration, just like bleed in print? and if so, how much...?
Does ppi matters?!
i want to make a shelf like wallpaper so that icons would appear to sit on them
and it's driving me crazy cuz' i have no clue as to where they (the shelfs ) should be...
Thanks!
... try
Code:
1920x1408, still no good...
... give 1920x1280 a try, it seems to be the native resolution for Android 4.0.3 (ICS) on the TF 300 tablet. No crop, cut or resize here :good:

that IS the actual resolution. That is teh screen resolution so none scrolling images are 1280x720. Scrolling images for homescreens are 1280x1440
ok well let me refrarise the question I guess, what is the resolution of the lock screen so you aren't forced to crop the picture? @ 1280x720 you have to crop the picture, hence the crappy quality.
Sounds like you need to have the resolution in the opposite direction

Don't crop the picture. When the box shows up with the crop tool, just leave it alone and hit OK.
As long as your pictures are 720 x 1280 or larger, it should be as clear as day.

In fact, it is 720x1280 for no-scrolling and 1440x1280 for scrolling
My solution to that was viewing desired picture in gallery, take screen shot and then place it as a lock screen pic. Thanks to that it is saved at screen resolution. Hope this helps.
