Hi all.
First off a great site here. I am new to android (well not strictly true I did have the Desire when it very first came out and I hated it sold it after a week) Any way I am now converted to Android from Iphone. So I am a complete and utter noob
I have got the the S2 and what a phone, never miss a phone call or antenna problems on this puppy.
So my problem is when I get a text msg it only reads out the number of the person and does not read the actual txt. When I get phone calls it tells me who is ringing. This is a problem for me as I want this for when I am driving. Please help.
I have not rooted my phone yet as I said I am a complete noob. Does not look as easy as jailbreak.

Double press/tap HOME key to bring ON Voice Talk.
Turn ON Driving Mode.
Hit the MENU button --> Settings -->Scroll down --> Voice Talk Settings --> "TICK" Show body of message.
I suppose that should solve your problem
(It sometimes takes a while to read out the message depending on your connection..so plz be a lil patient Cheers)
Not really the same thing. There should be a way in android to have it announce who is calling or just texted you without leaving in driving mode constantly. Symbian used to have this,but I don't believe Android does.

I just use Tasker for this, though some would balk at spending on an app worth 5 dollars for a phone worth a hundred times that =)
I was wondering if anyone has actually ever use this features with other devices like linking it up with GS3 or with other devices that have NFC and Android Beam capabilities???... and does it have to be the same device in order for it to work properly??? My guess would be "no" but I could be wrong.

My wife has the SGS2 but she won't let me do anything to it. So it's stuck on GB and it won't let me beam to or from her phone.
that sucks lol.. GB is a thing of the past and maybe perhaps her device needs to be updated to ICS in order for it to work properly.... but if your device is rooted, i heard that it may not work.

That is correct beam is an ICS and up feature. I remember seeing the ICS trailer for the first time :')

She won't even let me just update her phone via Kies. I told her she's missing out on some key features but she thinks all I'm doing is rooting and crap...lol...women!
I shared a contact with my wife's (also an Amaze) phone via NFC the other day. I had tried several other times with no success. This time I heard a notification sound signalling success. It sounded so good I did it again and low and behold the contact was in there twice. My wife will never use it. I might use it again. :laugh:

I've used it quite a few times. Shared my contact info with a young lady I met at a bar, plus a couple of YouTube vids. But we have 3 S3s in the house also, plus a Samsung tv, so if I want to try different stuff to beam or try I always have another phone around.

I did the bar thing too. Met a girl there who had the GSIII and before I left I beamed my number over to her

ive had no problems sending web pages and other link type things to people, but we couldnt figure out how to send our own numbers, other peoples sure.. our own, nope.

Just wait till she's asleep and when she wakes up just tell her here phone must have gotten an auto update she'll never know.

i recently sold my iphone and bought a galaxy s4 because i had heard that its a lot faster than iphone but mine takes a long time to load an application an action to scroll around the device, basically it is generally really slow and sometimes i have to press again on the screen to do something. i have turned off animation, i dont have a live wallpaper and generally havent loaded so many apps to make it slow. what can i do? please help, im starting to regret buying it.

yes, havent changed ROM
yes have rooted
device memory available 2.68GB
i dont think i have updated it, it has the version i bought it with. the only thing i have changed is launcher and theme

I suggest you go back to stock and see if that improves the speed of your phone.
Before that, backup all your stuff, because you should also factory reset.

you mean unroot right?
Don't unroot. Go into the android development and hacking forums and find a script to make your phone faster, and flash it in CWM recovery. If you can't do that, overclock your phone using the No Frills CPU Control app off the Play Store. Make sure both sliders are at the end and that your governer is Performance. Also, try out Auto Memory Optimizer, that's a good app for retaining your speed. And of course, always close apps when you aren't using them.

That's not how my friends S4 works, it is extremely responsive and fluid. Apps work without hiccups and even multi tasking is awesome. The first thing that came to my mind when you posted your phone's symptoms were, did you purchase it brand new from a shop? Is it on stock FM? Did you actually check it at the store before your purchased it?
Yours could be a FW or a HW problem. Is it possible to take the phone back to the store and have them fix/replace it before attempting software fixes?

I think thats technical issue. Idk anybody else xperience this but ur problem kinda strange thing to happen and never happen to my phone.
My guess is some kind of RF interference......had new tv recently and kept getting blocks on screen, turned out it was my boiler relay interfering every time the thermostat triggered on/off......and I'm guessing something is causing induction on your speaker in a similar manner

Well if it only happens while you are in a certain location then that would indicate possibly my suggestion, can you describe the beep? Is it a notification beep or does it doing like interference?...or?

Hmmm it recorded from galaxy wonder. And i play them on my s3 you know what is the rison?

Well it's not a notification sound I recognize, almost sounds like the connection notification when you plug into charge, just wondering if damaged usb port is doing it, but that is just a guess.
Best advice is flash back to stock Rom with full wipe, and before adding your apps see if it's still doing it, if not then add apps a few at a time.
The other thing you could do is run better battery stats and see if that noise links to any wakelocks

Hmmm look my friend the phone was on samsung technical lab 3 times they make a total wipe.
The phone is an original android rom no root done. The s3 i am writing with is rooted but i have 2 s3 one is ok and the second make noise.
dont know what to do

Yes i am using regular apps, apps that most of us use they not cracked or somthing
And downloaded from google store... it mey be a mechanik proble? or somthing

hey i really need help i tried to fined a answer about my music player.
randomly my music stops and will not continue till i reset my phone.
its not tilt stop or any thing iim using CM11 but it happened on omni rom and cyenfox too.
it happens with every music player and rom but on Bluetooth it dosent happen only speakers and aux.
i have my galaxy s2 universal from when it lunched and it started half a year ago and didnt have any solution for it .
so again i really need with this help.

This is a 'known issue' with CM11. It happens with EVERY version of it. Some people it affects, some it doesn't........
Afraid you either live with it until a fix is found, or you revert to CM10/CM10.1/CM10.2

what i tried to tell you its with other roms too.
so there is no solution yet ?
As said earlier,all KitKat roms faces this issue.
Solutions?As of yet - NONE.
Devs are working hard on it,so there's still some hope.
This has been fixed but I forget which one fixed it. I'm sure its carbon ROM . I'm on s3 though so may not have passed down the fix to s2. I know this has been fixed but I just forget. I'll try and find the dev/rom who did it
Right pa 4.4.2 is working fine with jetaudio pro. Forget were I got that apk
We are talking about sound skip issue when screen is off yes??

I'm starting to realize that I should stop looking at q and a on s2 it's hard for me to leave s2 threads. Problems on s2 and s3 are clearly different and I should stick to my model. Take care and sorry for the confusion. :thumbdown:

M8 is a nice phone. Looks really nice and a good choice IMO. S2 thread are like crack to a crack head to me lmao. I'm addicted to them. I wish I got a new laptop and not the s3. S2 was/is a great phone and new people are getting one every day and still ask the same old questions mb is the man! Hopper8 top man and you're good self is all I see now. You're going, hopper8 will go, mb will one day go, gastown I ent got a clue were he went? Immortalneo mia but set up a good thread for me to follow lol soon it will be a sad place for me to come. As you can tell the s2 ment a lot to me.
And Odin is now my friend because of the s3. Am happy I never once used it on the s2 haha
I still visit the W's forum......ilke here, I have a guide there that needs maintaining......only ever used odin on my S2 once.....and have used it on my W to return it to stock......

is this your next phone mate (M8 hahha )? Looks amazing but they cost so much! It would be my first choice of phone but I just can't spend that much on a phone.. Think my next one will be Nexus 5 in a couple of months, it's much much cheaper. But I will be more than slightly jealous if you get the M8
Yeah...expensive now, but in 6 months (or so) time when my current contract ends, it should be cheaper.......I hope
Also considering the Z2 as an alternative.......The Sony *looks* easier to root, but I'm not sold on it's glass rear.....and the aluminium body of the M8........what can I say?
