The battery drain during usage is within the normal, but in standby it is too high, which I do not understand!

Using the battery app see what app or service is keeping your phone awake. That would be my guess as to what the problem is. I would also suggest flashing cpalmers kernel as well, which has been really good for me in limiting awake time.

Install BatteryGuru, give it a couple days to learn how you use your phone, and watch how it saves your battery once the learning period is done. I swear by this app, it brought me from almost a day to about a day and a half as far as battery life is concerned.

I installed the Gsam battery, it shows that "phone radio" was sucking down a vast majority of the battery.

Then you must be in an area where service isn't good and your phone is searching for service which kills the battery quickly. To conserve battery turn on air plan mode and then turn service on when you get into a zone with better coverage. This will help your battery a lot.

My opinion..don't install any more apps than what you only use. You install more apps it will obviously suck more battery. What you do. Root/unlocked the bootloader and install a sense 5 4.1.2 base Rom. I came from stock and since I've installed a sense 5 stock Rom I've notice a big battery saver comparing from the original sense 4+ stock.hopefully that helps.

Thanks all
Strangely none of this helped the battery drain is too high in standby, after resting (no apps installed only stoke apps) and even flashing sense 5 rom still 15% per hour and even in Air plan mode . The strange thing during the use of the phone the drain is normal.

I thought that phones that exhibit this behavior would still shut down when it thought it was at 0 even though the battery had plenty of charge left? The way to resolve this on SGS1 is to let the phone run down until it dies. Then fully charge it to 100 as this will "teach" the phone the true extremes of the battery capacity and thus improve the accuracy of battery reading level.

Use that widget/app to check the mV on the battery. Generally, 4200mV is 100% and 2700mV is 0%.
Don't go back to apple dude))
It will be better on your next run, the battery stats need adjusting that's all... I think there is a way of resetting it other than in CWM. What you need to do is drain your phone down until it has no battery completely, then wipe battery stats, then fully charge, you should have truer statistics after....

Depends on the phone, each android device uses different battery driver. Nexus one for example shuts down at zero even if more capacity is remaining cause that's the way the ds2784 battery chip works with the nexus driver. Seems like the galaxy s 2 works different.
That's has been a habit with Touchwiz/Samsung phones. Battery dies after staying at 0%.

battery life?

To all SGS2 owners,
Can you tell me how long this device last, generally use and talk time?
Some sites indicate it has 8 hrs talk time but others such AT&T itself, BestBuy, Costco do say it only has 3 hrs talk time.
So is it only 3 hrs?
on OEM battery: 10 hr and 30 minutes today and still at 74% medium usage
as for talk time i dont talk for hours and hours so i dont know lol but i can make all the calls i need and have plenty of juice.. i recommend using a cutom ROM like unnamed to save battery
on the extended 3500 battery: i got 41 hr and 30 minutes and i was at 19%
62% left after what I consider heavy use. E-mail, GPS, Wifi always on. It's a work phone so multiple calls during the day.
I'm using Unnamed ROM and even updated the ROM today to the latest version on battery. (hence the dip in the graph )

This device gets excellent battery life, especially after you root and freeze useless apps. Alternatively, just install UnNamed ROM.
Mine is bone stock with nothing more then Juice Defender. Tons of app's Medium use my best is 2 days 1 hours and change. Heavy use, Streaming 4-5 hours, lots of talk time and text with surfing with mail was my worst at 10 hours 48 min.
I am VERY happy with the battery life!
my phone is usually dead within 8-10 hours.. light usages in my view..
Alls i can say is that i went from 100-0 in 6-8 hours stock rom to 24-30 hours + with unamed rom... cant thank gtg enough

That is because you phone is awake 80% of the time according to your screenshot. If you want to improve battery life, look for the app that is causing it to stay awake.

You get only 8 hours because your phone never goes into deep sleep.. It is awake most of the time.. You may want to look into that..

Battery life is so dependent on your usage that almost all comparisons are worthless. I have learned its best to just make sure everything is running as efficiently as possible.
Surprising how some are getting a days worth on the battery.. I'm lucky to get 14 hours..
I can go 8 hours tool its dead or 14 with life to spare. It usually depends on how bored I am at work.
That's why I said its almost too subjective to compare.

Battery Woes

Is anyone else finding it extremely difficult to get through the day without struggling to keep your SIII alive? I thought the battery life was supposed to be superior to its predecessors? I'm a first time Android user but I did not think I would have to lower my brightness all the way and constantly monitor my devices battery life.
do you have some dumbass apps draining your battery?
i found my culprit and it's Friendcaster without even turn the notification on
get Badass battery monitor to find it or just use the one in setting
I'm finding the battery life is great, and lasts a whole day with no problems
It really depends on what do on your phone.
Try posting a screenshot of your battery stats. Android has an inbuilt monitor with each app and its usage being displayed. Easy method to spot a drain.
I just downloaded that in addition to my other app but there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary that seems to be killing my battery. Most of it is coming from my screen but I keep at it 25% brightness the whole time. Super odd
I usually get around 16 hours of standby and at least 4 hours or more of screen time.
You should try Watchdog Task Manager. It will be able to tell you if an app is running and using more processes than it should. Also I've never used badass battery stats, but better battery stats will tell you if anything is holding a wakelock. It is free for XDA members so you don't have to buy it on the market. Just search for it

On saturday I drove for 4 hours streaming music via bluetooth to my car. Used navigation for about 40 minutes with the screen on the whole time. Took a few calls, sent a few sms's. Read a few forums using data. Got home that night with about 40% left. That'll do me.
Maybe I'm just freaking out about the whole battery situation? I just expected it to be a lot longer and a lot better. I constantly worry if I'll be able to make past 10PM when I start my day at 7AM.
On wifi with little to no voice signal that cuts out frequently, I might get seven hours of screen on time today D:

I'm getting huge drain from Cell Standby.
It'll lose 30% overnight. I keep checking for a software update. It's got to be the modem.
I'm holding off on rooting and custom ROMS until I know for sure this is fixable in firmware.
My phone's on LE6 and is from Thailand.
I see that you have poor signal reception
maybe that's why
last time I went underground, just 5 mins of standby it took away 10% of my battery
when it searches for signal it drains a lot
you could also try to disable auto search for network
go to setting>more settings > network operators and select it manually

[Razr MAXX] DE-BUNKING the Razr maxx battery life

There seems to be a lot of speculation and hype over the razr maxx battery.
Some people get 2 - 3 days, some only 12 hours.
I for one, get about 12 hours with moderate - heavy usage (ocxasionally).
As we all hope for we want that 17 hour /21 hour talk time motorola tells us.
I am using a Gsm model, so i would have expected a longer talk time than the 4G lte versions. It is a 3200mah battery (4G gets the 3300mah?)
I only get about 12 hours of continuous usage (5 hours off the 17 hour benchmark)
So im going to ask everyone that owns a razr maxx to screen shot their talk time.
Using the gsam battery monitor app which gives a good indication of how much talk time left based on calculations and usage.
My talk time, stand by and average time left is here:

With cpuspy app; it is properly deep sleeping too and under locked to 300mhz on screen off:
1)What's everyone else's maxx battery life like? Please post screen shot
2) does your razr maxx battery read 3300mah or 3200mah? Mine reads 3200mah..
At the moment it's been 3 hours and it's - 8% already.. Only played Internet radio for 15 minutes which drained 2%

I'm finding it lasts just as long as my desire z, which had less than half the battery size! I get a day comfortably but that's not the 2 days comfortably I was expecting/hoping for.
Don't have a screenshot but on my last charge it was around 1 day 2hrs, screen on 2.5hrs, no wifi, gps/bluetooth off. Using gsam and cpuspy and all looks ok pretty much. Although, digging into gsam app sucker, I notice that kernel is always the highest and I also notice that the sensor useage (accelerometer/pressure) is always on roughly about the same as screen time but it has a LOT of wakelocks. Might try disabling that for a while.
But I feel I should be getting much longer than I do. I do have facebook but it's time on and wakeups don't suggest any abnormalites.
I see mention of some people finding out what size their battery was, how are they doing this? Battery monitor widget says 3200mA but is there another method people are using?
Also, I seem to lose roughly 5% an hour battery mostly idling, this seems far too much.
Screen shot 1st day had razr maxx. As a test I turned on absolutely everything I could, 4g, wifi, bluetooth, gps and maxed out screen brightness and managed to still squeeze out 16hours of battery life. The entire time I was listening to music, texting, surfing the web, watching video's while running a live wallpaper.

Battery indicator inaccurate

Anyone else seeing issues with really inaccurate battery readings? I'll be at 99% charged for 15+ hours sometimes, and then things will drop rapidly or even just die at 20%. I've also noticed when charging that it'll get to 99% within an hour or so and then spend 30-45 mins at 99%.
On top of this, my phone battery just died at around 55%. Are others just draining their battery all the way to try to calibrate?

I downloaded Gsam and it says that my radio is taking up most of my battery. Any idea why this is happening because its never done this before? I used to get at least 2 days of battery usage. I charged it until it was full yesterday, let it sit overnight, and this morning it was @ 20%. I'm on newts M7 and z's B5.4. I've been on this combination for the majority of the time I've had my phone an no problems until now. And I don't think its the kernel because the same thing happens when I had it on 5.1. I noticed I was on global mode and I changed it to LTE/CDMA. Who the hell knows, that might be what's causing it. We'll see. Any help is appreciated.
