[Q] CWM on LG p769 rooted JB - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I keep getting these messages when I try to use Rom Manager. Screenshots provided. I need to know how to get ROM manager to work on my phone so I can boot into recovery and flash backup roms and stuff. How do I install a clockworkmod based recovery manually? Does my bootloader need to be unlocked is there an easier method to unlock bootloaders for lg l9 p769? [/ATTACH]

You can't get CWM recovery with ROM manager,
Use this---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825
It's made for our phones

Didn't work for my rooted P76920d
I'm guessing I have to flash a .kdz that has recovery already on it?
You never really specify which correct busybox you have to have installed anyway, I think that may be it. What busybox do I install? Smart or nonsmart?

Honestly you shouldn't even have ROM manager unless you have an unlocked boot loader and its useless for our phones also if you want to install a recovery without unlocked boot loader try artas bootstrap and if you have unlocked flash the cwm or twrp image

I stopped using ROM manager, it was always useful for other phones but not this one.
At first I installed artas recovery. It didn't work, no flashing LED. Then I installed a different busybox. Now I get LEDs but when I press volume down button it stays stuck in the LG logo and I have to reboot. So I still don't have recovery with artas after switching busyboxes but LEDs flash so that's a start.
I'm just going to try to unlock the bootloader, I need recovery to work.
EDIT: Nevermind, I was using 1.3 version so I deleted the sys files and upgraded to 1.5. fixed, thanks.

[Q] New unlock bootloader method? [P769]

Today had unlocked bootloader, made everything and ended up in V20F with official unlocked bootloader, but, for noob's reazons I can't flash cwm. flashed V20D for root and install recovery for locked bootloader, and there, flashed cwm.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44300426&postcount=358) installed succefully, reboot and then it gave me security error. Got into S/W And realized that it wasn't unlocked.
After some researching, found that the unic way to save my phone was by official LgMobile Support, it didn't recoignaized my phone.
Dindn't gave up and tried crazy things, flashed cwm in unofficial fastboot, then p760 JB uboot and x-boot(Lelus fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292828), then I reboot into CWM touch without problem! Thought about getting
unlocked bootloader and flashed CM10.1 Unofficial, and it flashed , reboot and had LG bootscreen inverted, but everything else okay, so I don't know
if this can help to anybody, maybe can be a new method to unlock without making crazy things.
By the way, as you can notice English is not my native languaje, so sorry if I made mistakes.
you forgot this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44161955&postcount=310
this will fix the inverted lg logo at boot, flash in cwm
all you needed was to flash the u-boot.img for 20f in fastboot, you would have had no security error.

Have you unlocked the bootloader? If you have locked bootloader you can't flash custom ROM...
For unbricking use Offline flash.

I need help finding the best tuts

Ok so I have an LG Optimus L9 P769 and I've rooted using Kingo method, and I'm looking for the best tutorials for:
1. Unlocking Bootloader
2. Installing CWM Custom Recovery for recovery boot(Like Odin for Samsung)
3. Nandroid backup
4. Flashing custom ROM
Any help is greatly appreciated, there's tons of material on here and I'm quite confused as to which ones I need to use. I've read how P760 stuff doesn't work on P769 and all the ways that following those tutorials for my model will cause me problems.
I wish this was easier.

1. Unfortunately there is no easy way or guarantee that you'll be able to unlock the bootloader. There's speculation that LG Encrypted the bootloader on the LK 2013 bootloader versions. The only variant that was officially Unlocked was the Euro Open model, hence why to attempt to unlock the bootloader you have to flash the Euro open kdz to the device and you end up with mirrored images and a barely responsive touch screen.
2. There is the L9 recovery installer - cwm bootstrap recovery for locked bootloaders. You CANNOT flash Custom ROMs with this cwm, you can perform nandroid backups and flash some zips with it though. To get started you have to install SuperSu and then install busybox v1.21.0 by stericson to the /system/xbin/ for the L9 recovery to work. Then install the L9 recovery installer, select JB/ICS stable version. After install select reboot to recovery. Then when the device restarts the 3 front keys will flash repeatedly (this means you have recovery access) while the keys are blinking press and hold the volume (-) down button and then it will boot to recovery... Immediately after booting into recovery make a nandroid backup, this is just in case after you boot from recovery to android os you might get an "Encrypting - Reset Phone" error (this is a busybox error) the nandroid backup you just made will save your butt if that happens. Once you have the recovery working properly you can then update the busybox version.
Here's the L9 recovery installer -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825
3. Once in recovery go to and select "Backup and Restore" then select "Backup to SD card" confirm backup and create a nandroid backup.
4. Without unlocking the bootloader you cannot flash any custom ROM's. Kuma82 made a really nice Stock, themed and rooted ROM that you can flash through cwm. You can check it out here -

[Q] Flashing latest TWRP - Help needed!

Hi,
Currently I have NUT's dual recovery installed. Trying to install the latest TWRP 2.8 following TWRP's website, fails everytime. I know the Xperia recoveries are different from other devices.
I have a locked device. Is there a way to get the new recovery onto my Z2? Even from flashing from the current recovery maybe?
Regards,
B
No, custom kernel/recovery requires unlocked bootloader, you'll have to unlock or wait for nut to update dual recovery
Sent from my Xperia Z2 using Tapatalk
But after flashing monxDified I had 2.8. When I wanted to use eXistenz, I went back to stock and flashed Dual recovery again
Flashing TWRP
Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a related question.
I'm running Doomlords CWM recovery and .402, unlocked and rooted. I'd like to update to TWRP. All of the guides I've found on flashing TWRP assume you don't already have a custom recovery. Do you suppose I could just install TWRP through TWRP Manager over the existing CWM? Would I need to flash a new kernel patched version of the stock ROM that supports TWRP?
Thanks in advance.
No issues so far running the teamwin recovery on LB.

MonxDified includes 2.8 with his rom if you must run 2.8 now find a rom with it included otherwise wait for Dual recovery to be updated.

If TWRP can be flashed from Recovery with a ROM, surely it must be able to flash TWRP on its own???

NO, Z2 doesn't have a separate recovery partition therefore, as I understand it, recovery needs to be flashed as part of the kernel.

Yes you are correct, looking into it further, with locked bootloader the recovery is actually located in /system/bin therefore some magic involved in booting recovery, but my point stands in that the recovery has to be modified from standard to be bootable from its non standard locale.

Xperia Z5C won't root

I really don't know what is left to do, I always end up with a bootloop and have to repair my phone with flashtool. I have tried flashing twrp by adb/fastboot, temporarily booting to twrp, flashing different twrp files after repair.... I always get boot loop. Help please :/
Once I had my phone rooted by oneclickroot support, then I started to get play store crashed constantly. Once I booted to recovery and when try to reboot, got a bootloop. I tried to flash a new rom, so found a stock rom for Z5C and flashed it by twrp. But after a reboot I lost the twrp recovery this time. Then I tried to flash the recovery myself using abd, following the basics; fastboot flash boot boot.img/recovery recovery.img But I again stuck into a bootloop. Repaired again... I thought flashing a custom recovery breaks the phone, so I decided to just boot the recovery and install supersu. but again a bootloop in the end.

I have flashed the lastest stock ftf by flashtool, that is what I do after everytime I brick it while trying to obtain root. And if you mean switching to another user, yes it does.
that's good. it means hardware is fine.
it's your root method.
try this
