[Q] ANy options for reboot options? - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What I would like is either an app that lets me just do a restart on the tablet, or even an option on the shut down menu to just restart. I hate having to shut down and then turn it back on.
Anything exist?

i use power toggles to do the same. it gives many options out of which one is shut down and one is restart.

I also use Power Toggles, but I believe the restart feature requires root?

Does the 4.3 update give option to restart device?

I don't know why 4.2 didn't have an option to reboot the device, i am pretty used to having this option on my phones i have had for the last 2 or 3 of them and was hoping this 4.3 update would finally give the option on this tablet.
i can't understand why it wouldn't be there as it's a bit of a pain when you do want to restart it.
can anyone let me know.
thanks

Probably not.
Root your tablet, install xposed framework and install advanced power menu module.
Enable the module, reboot et voila...problem solved.
Happy holidays.

Don't forgot we're on XDA, some bright dev will figure it out soon enough.
They always do.
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588442
Like I said before, they always do!
So, to answer your question:
1. follow the steps in the link posted above.
2. Install Xposed framework http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
3. Install Advanced power menu module
4. PROFIT!
Enjoy!
You can also install Xposed module GravityBox instead.
Besides the power menu, it gives many more options, and together with the module Xperia Flip Settings the status bar can be modified to look and behave nearly like AOSP.
Also GravityBox has the option to use Expanded Desktop, i.e. hide the navigation bar.

Jep, Gravitybox is an excellent module but since the OP was only asking for an advanced power menu I figured to just point him to that direction.
But indeed, tons more functionality in gravitybox.
Actually u can do the following hot key combination without root: hold volume up + power button wthis will restart any Android device in the world or if u have root install advanced menu from xposed

That forces the device to shut down. It is like pressing and holding the power button on a PC. The device doesn't do all the processes needed for a safe shutdown. So, yeah, just use that in case the device is stuck.

Stuck in Ultra Power Saving Mode.

I've been using nova launcher for months and finally uninstalled the stock S launcher. Today, I went to put my phone into ultra power saving mode and now I cannot exit it. If I get a notification, I can switch to that app and get into system settings, but I cannot exit ultra power saving mode. Without a notification, I can't even turn the screen off. The home button does nothing (no launcher) and the UPSM toggle is missing from the notification window.
So, my question is- does anyone have the stock APK for the Samsung launcher -OR- know an ADB command or some other way to get out of UPSM?
You didn't say whether you looked at the full quick settings palette or just the selected tiles subset? You should find the power saving tile on the full palette. Also does the phone exit UPSM when you fully charge the phone battery?
If that doesn't work, then just download the firmware for your phone and you can extract the stock launcher with winrar.

There are no settings tiles. After I get a notification, I can pull down the notification screen (not before) and hit the gear to get the settings page. In there, there's only wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, mobile networks, location, sound, and brightness. There's no way to get rid of UPSM.
Fully charging it didn't work. Fully discharging it didn't work. Wiping cache and dalvik didn't work.
Can you provide a link to the file in question? I'm not entirely clear on your terminology. I thought the firmware was just for the radio and such while the rom had the program files?

Have you rebooted? Usually does it for me.
I tried taking the battery out, restoring my SYSTEM backup from a few months ago, upgrading to a newer version of the stock rom, and nothing works.
Everything I've tried ends up with the phone going back into UPSM with no way to leave it.

If you are using TWRP there is a file manager under advanced. Use that to navigate to the /system/app directory and rename "Emergency" apk to have .back appended to the end after the .apk. This will "hide" it from the system and should disable it. Btw the name of the apk has Emergency in it i don't recall the exact name of it though.

No we can't. And the reason that we can't is that you didn't provide any details about your phone. The firmware is different for every model of S5 and carrier. We don't know if you have a 900T, 900F, 900A or some other S5 version. We can't see your phone and can do little unless you provide extensive details.
Simply go to a firmware site like sammobile, click on firmware and enter the model number of your phone. Or do a search of this forum. Then use the Odin program to write that firmware (factory software) to your phone.
.
I'm having the same issue on a Verizon S5. Under /system in twrp I don't see anything. Tried chmod but didn't help. Any suggestions?
Apps Drawer
Same thing happened to me. Mine was stuck in between normal and Ultra. I was able to go to my apps drawer, clicked on the gear/settings, found Power then disabled Ultra Power Saving mode there.
I had same issue and I SOLVED it.
No disable option in the notification drawer. Gear 'setting' option (in the notification drawer) only display few setting options (no disable ultra saving mode).
I solve the issue by holding down the HOME button to trigger Google NOW app. In the search bar of Google NOW app, I clicked the microphone button and said "OPEN SETTINGS". This will open the full version of setting window. If you scroll down, you will see the 'POWER SAVING MODE', click it and you will see the disable "ULTRA POWER SAVING MODE" option.
It's a unusual way but it worked.
I also faced the same issue while running Action Launcher 3. Google Now wasn't working for me, so the way I solved it is:
- press and hold the menu button (capacitive button on the left) and select "Manage Apps"
- from the three dots on the top right corner select "Reset app preferences"
- reboot
- pressing the home button showed up "TouchWiz Home", which then allowed me to select "Disable Ultra Power Savings mode"
-done
HTH
I have they same problem with S5 LTE+ on Android 4.4.4. (I hate this ****ing bad Samsung Software!!!!) The above two posts unfortunatly don't work for me because Google Now is not working and Home Button does nothing.
I will try to launch settings due adb if I find a PC to do this (Unfortunatly I'm on holiday at the moment)
Were you able to figure this out? Facing the same issue on my friends phone. Can't believe Samsung would takeover the phone like this.

Best I remember, it had something to do with disabling the stock launcher and I ended up reflashing.
thug_life_inc brought me to my personal solution. I had the problem with the Google Now Launcher. And there is the possibility to go to the app info by placing an app on the home screen, but not dropping it there, but above it (you know the area where you can access app info / delete the app).
That brought me to the settings page for the google app where i could delete the standard launching options.
I had very low battery (maybe 3 or 2%) and then i activated the ultra power saving mode. After a while, the phone battery died, so I recharged it. The problem now is that I got stucked in UPSM. Everything is black and white, I have no acces at any of my apps and the settings is incomplete, I mean I don`t find the "disable UPSM" function. I also cannot factory reset the phone, same reason, I only have acces to wi-fi, bluetooth, volume, brightness and location.
Thank you!!!!

I tried multiple methods include using microphone to trigger Google Now but still nothing in Settings. The idea is trigger the Launcher Picker. here are some notes
Wish I new this sooner, wasted a whole day figuring it out. This fix is way easier
The easy fix - just open the app drawer, drag the google app to app info and drop, clear defaults , when prompted choose you service providers origional default launcher

Screen density & Notification icons

Moved over from Samsung S8 and I'm mightily impressed. Just a few tweaks I'd like... The screen density seemed better on my S8, I could make text smaller.
Is there a way to hide the Bluetooth and NFC icons without turning them actually off? Without root.
Thanks
I'm testing system UI tuner right now which lets you turn on and off system icons but I need the Mate 20 Pro USB drivers to test.
Edit: The only system icon it seems to allow you to disable is the wifi one. Everything else stays. Probably need someone with a bit more understanding to see why they won't disable.
Edit 2: Even the built in demo mode tuner doesn't work so I've no idea whats going on lol.

I've managed to get rid of all but the time, battery and mobile data in system ui tuner. It just requires a restart after you turn them off. Bit of a pain that the mobile data stays on the left though as I'd love them all on the right and left for notifications.

Install minimal adb and fast boot here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2317790
Turn on developer settings and then turn on USB debugging. (go to Settings > About phone > Build number tap it lots until you get a popup, then in about phone you will have developer settings)
Download system ui tuner from the app store.
Open minimal adb and connect your phone to pc.
Type in adb devices and hit enter, it should show a device connected.
Open up system ui tuner and go through the setup to input the commands into adb.
Turn what you want off and restart your phone.

It does, indeed. From the Power button...
"Reboot Menu" then gives you more options for that choice.
See screenshots a few posts down...

Thanks. This one seems to work consistently.
Another one I tried from the thread worked a few times, then stopped. I had to open the app and mess with the settings for it to start working again (to show when I long pressed the power button). It worked a few more times, then stopped again. Maybe I was doing something wrong. I also have the Recovery Reboot app, so when the other one didn't work consistently at least I had that to fall back on + regular stock power menu, therefore no big deal...
But THIS one so far has worked well when I long press the power button.

NOXX Advanced Power Menu
I have the NOXX Advanced Power Menu (the non-exposed one you reference) customized with the options and settings I want. You can even put them in the order you want. See attached screenshots...
Maybe the Xposed one you installed has even more options -- I don't know -- but just making sure others know the NOXX is very customizable.
For instance, I moved Reboot to the top as that's my most frequent choice. Others I enabled, while a couple I just left disabled.
When I get a chance, I'm actually going to recommend this one in the WTF INSTRUCTIONS.

Oh! It wouldn't let me adjust that. I stand corrected. Good to know. Thanks!
Another option, rather than install *another* app...
Most of us have Magisk? Go to Magisk, modules, then in upper right 3 ellipses selection, you get options to reboot, reboot recovery, reboot download, reboot bootloader.
As often as I need this option (not often), this suffices for me anyway.
Cheers
I have tried a bunch of rebooting apps on my V30 LG-H930DS and the only one that works for me is "Easy Reboot for root users".

[Q] It's possible disable shutdown option with Poco locked?

Hi,
With stock rom (stable or open beta), when Poco F1 are locked and press Power Button, there are an option to shutdown phone.
This is a security problem!
If the phone is stolen, the thief can easily turn off the phone and prevent us from locating it, deleting its contents, ringing...
It happened to my stepfather, who only regained its Pocophone thanks to video surveillance of the space where it was stolen because the phone was immediately shut down and we cannot get your location.
Is there any way to disable the power off option when the phone is locked?
Preferably without Root access.

There is no way to totally disable the power button.
Even if you were able to make the shut down option to disappear, pressing the power button for 10-15 seconds will make the phone reboot.
Yes, press for 15 seconds reboot, but don't shutdown! After reboot, I can localized the phone again!
I only want remove the "Shutdown" option on power menu.
interested cuz it happened to me yesterday, i guess its a security thing. cuz someone turned off my phone and luckily i was wearing my Bluetooth ear piece and i noticed it got disconnected so i barely found it.
i think there should be a way to like put a password or fingerprint when u wanna reboot or shutdown the phone!!

There's no option like that in 10.3.7
I have that option on custom miui by xiaomi.eu
Its very useful but still i would prefer if the power button was completely locked by password so the phone cannot be rebooted to recovery by the thief.
