Jim's HTC Rezound restoration thread - HTC Rezound

So I got my Rezound from a user on here last February in near perfect condition. Over time, the phone began to wear, I dropped it, the battery began to die and the bezel peeled off completely.
After continually losing my patience with the slow responsiveness of the device (ViperRez ROM took its toll on my phone's performance), I threw it, rage slammed it and just generally abused it.
I was relieved to finally get my Galaxy S4 and came very close to smashing my Rezound up...but I couldn't do it. The phone had served me so well for so long, I decided to keep it and I am restoring it to its former glory.
I am going to purchase a new digitiser, bezel, battery and back cover over the next few weeks/months and flash CM10 (because I love AOSP).
I'll only have the device as a back up but it'd be nice to have a nice device as a spare instead of an eyesore.
I'll periodically update this thread with my activities concerning the fixing up of the device, and hopefully, it'll be a glorious beacon of light once again.
This is what the device looks like at the moment:

A Cautionary Tale: Dropping Your Lumia Ends Badly

So, today, after owning my cyan Lumia 800 for only a few weeks, it slipped out of my hand and fell 5 feet, landing screen down onto concrete. I put the included case on from day 1, thinking I'd be safe if I ever dropped it like that. Of course it had to land on the ONLY PART not protected by the case. This is the result of that drop.

What started out as a very small purple line at the bottom of the screen spread to what you see in the pictures, and is slowly continuing to spread. I hate myself.
Oh, and of course this would happen to me the day the interop unlock is released.

What happened to my Atrix?? Is this a software or hardware issue?

I've been pretty gentle with my Atrix 4G, took the dog for a walk today and when I went to check half way through the walk, the screen looked like this. I've rebooted, pulled the battery out, every time I get this screen. I can click on the power button and switch from screen on/off.
Now a little bit of sand got into the case (I work at a camp in the summer, lots of sand in my pockets) could this be the issue (maybe on the motherboard?)
I can't imagine it's from a drop or a hit.
Thanks

Running stock Gingerbread ROM (PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.36.531.6_Radio_1.07.550L.04DC_30.64.550L.07_release_219373_signed.zip)
Phone is completely back to stock (S-ON, ***LOCKED*** bootloader, etc.)
Up since charged two days ago. Stock OEM battery, too. What do you guys think?
Where's the screen on time and what were you're usage habits? You gotta be a lot more specific than that.

Your screen was practically never on.

It doesen't matter what rom you use, aside from a slight battery savings that can be tweaked, your screen is the biggest battery hog by far. The best thing you can do is dim your screen, with it very dim I've had almost 5 hrs of on time for the screen, average around 2.5-3.
I can also reach 24hrs+ if I keep my screen on for 1 second! /s
The Moderating team is not really a fan of best rom threads because what may be a great rom for one person may not be the same for another because needs and usage will very. So I'm going to close this.

All I'm able to tell is that it's a Samsung device, and it may be GSM because of the microSIM slot I see on the back. The back had no battery, no cover, no SIM, the screen is clearly decimated, two capacitive buttons missing (it takes talent to break capacitive buttons) and most buttons are pretty much loose.
I may spend a little money to get this thing fixed up, assuming it even turns on. I planned on getting a battery to test out first, then if it worked, fixing up the phone and keeping it or selling it. Not anytime soon, since I just bought a Nexus 4 while already low on leisure money, but it would be nice.
From the picture you provided and the detailed description it appears to be a Samsung Epic 4g.
If your interested in some replacement parts for the device I would recommend taking a look at these parts www.globaldirectparts.com/Samsung-Epic-4G-Replacement-Repair-Parts-s/6425.htm.

Severe Drop/Fixed my device

Was testing out my Desire X's camera and my butter finger'ness came back and it slipped, smashed the ground. The screen looks fine, it just smashed open st the bottom. The battery doesn't really fit in properly, but if you push it in hard it fits in properly, but the device doesn't turn on.
There is also this two clips, does it have anything to do with proving battery power?

My question is, can this device still be recoverable as its not as bad. And I had paid money for it. Cheapest way to fix this? I've tried pushing everything into place but it just flings out.
When connecting the device to the PC it has a blinking led at the top which is red. Which blinks on and off.
Edit - the device turns on just fine oo freaking strong device.
Yeah, should be fixable. I think you'll need this as replacement and hopefully it will work fine then. Didn't test myself, I only had to replace screen assembly some time ago, but this part is easy to replace, provided that you've got the right screw driver available.
