Manual Bootloader Unlock - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have looked in the proper threads , but not finding anyone that has done the bootloader unlock manually in a long time.
Had some odd complications with the one click casual , I know user error right.
I feel I can do this manually if I knew the proper sequence of what to push and install to the phone .
Im pretty confident in my skills with ADB, Fastboot, and Odin.
I also am aware of the dangers . So if anyone would like to chime in Id be grateful.
I have already downloaded the lastest nightly CASUAL jar and extracted it. Just need to know what needs to go where and so forth.
Thanks in advance!

Uhhh.. I had problems with it too cause I run a weird distro that was angering it with paths and versions of various things.
I would up unpacking it, and repacking it and running it that way. It took several attempts to get all the paths right and so fourth. Can you post some straces or logs here and we can see what's horking up?
IIRC, there's a master script in there that does most of the heavy lifting and a lot of dynamically compiled progs and a few statics once you extract it all by hand.
SOB

Thanks SamsungSOB. There is another interesting twist add well. If my Internet connection is active. It will not go further than the start text. Click "do it" and nothing. I have to disconnect internet then it will goto download mode and fail trying to push the pit file.

Been trying on Linux Mint 15 today and same issues. Have to disable internet, then when you click "do it" it will try to load the pit but it fails.
Linux and Windows both have the same issue. I don't know what Casual tries to look for on the Web but there is something to this.

Well there was a case similar to yours where they had flashed stock using the Note 2 Toolkit and it was a pre-release version and AFAIK it had to be JTAGed. Mainly because one user tried doing a lot of stuff and I think the guy who got it back just didn't want to or have the time to fool with it anymore.

Well you would have to send it off to MobileTechVideos to do it.
And just in case you are wondering the JTAG they use for our phones is called a Riff Box, you can find them on eBay for $50-$200 depending on how lucky you are.
The way it works, just in case you don't know how it works with phones, is they pull the MoBo and solder the Riffs little interface wires (they're just individual pieces of ribbon cable) to the phones JTAG contacts. You can actually build an interface for your phones MoBo for the JTAG with breadboard that way you don't have to solder directly to it, AdamOutler has a video in which he uses a Riff box and uses the custom breadboard piece to JTAG the phone (I think it was the VZW S3) back to life.

Yep. Really don't know why Samsung has done this. Directory Bind is a good workaround, though.
lol, i thought it would be too!
turns out its this lucky patcher i am using that is telling lies that i ran out of space.
Lucky patcher = always bad news
so don't ever use it anymore?
i noticed my phone is running on edge instead of a 3/4g data network. the only thing i ever did to my phone was root it, i didn't use any roms from here. i was able to put the original back thru odin, and my phone no longer says modified. but my data is still the same and my imei info is still gone.
anybody else experience this? oh and i did do a nandroid backup after i had rooted it. i restored it but it still wouldn't change my data or imei issue. i also checked my counter and it says custom binary (1 counts)...does that mean i am screwed? everything else in that line reads samsung or official tho. and at the very top is odin in red.

there's a fix in the general section that addresses this issue. Apparently it's a hardware issue where the tabs in your phone don't seem to make the connection to the antenna. the fix points out which connectors to adjust but requires you opening your phone. I've been experiencing this issue as well. I find massaging the top back right (when looking at the phone) seems to help but it's only a temp fix. I'm debating if I want to send the phone in for an RMA for that and a weird sim issue I've been experiencing.

Well, I'm stock and I've had the issue of mobile data not working. Oh, and let's not forget the terrible awake times that drain the battery. It seems unfair that these forums would only be for those who unlock their bootloaders and install custom roms. Maybe you're right though and maybe I'll just go elsewhere if I need help.
Why call AT&T for regards to an update anyway. You will have much better luck calling the manufacture. Sometimes you can get them to throw the carrier under the bus. Sometimes they say the update has already been submitted to the carrier for testing. Of course they could be lying. My point is, you won't get a right answer for AT&T but you may get a plausible answer from LG.

[Q] 2.04 update on GSM

Hey, guys. I bought a Droid DNA to use on AT&T. Everything is working fine, but it came with the older software version (1.5) and I'm not planning to root, so I wanted to update it to 2.04.
The problem is, it's not an option. It seems like it will only let me update if I have a CDMA signal. Anyone know a way around this? I already took out my SIM card and set it to CDMA mode. That actually lights up the "check for updates" button, but it still doesn't find anything. There has to be a way to update this phone without Verizon service.
You could root then flash the ota

It probably had something to do with the fact that I specifically said "without rooting" and that was the immediate response...IDIOT.
Example:
Question: "Can anyone recommend an action movie that doesn't star Bruce Willis".
Answer: "I recommend Die Hard".
Duh?
It's not helpful to suggest the one thing that someone says they don't want to do. That's what I would classify as smartass. I was trying to see if anyone else knew of another method. The friend sim card came up as an option later. I suggest you check yourself.
For those crying "root" because the phone was on a software version that allows it, I flip my phones pretty quickly and I don't want to permanently unlock a phone that I will probably be selling or trading sometime in the near future.

I sent my phone in today for the downgrade service. I will either post here or start a new thread when I get my phone back and let you all know how it turned out.

Been wanting to do this, but might just wait till its time to upgrade and move away from Samsung... Looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you.

Any results yet?
Why would you pay to go back to stock if you rooted it, why not just reload the stock ROM?

Because they will go back to 4.1.1 which is an unlocked bootloader...THEN you can install ANY compatible rom without using safestrap
Seems kinda lazy to me.. Why even been in this type of forum if you aren't up to doing it yourself. Might as well get that other phone which we won't utter its name lol

Because if you took the 4.3 or higher Ota or have a phone pre-installed with it, then you can't revert back to an older version of Android where the bootloader can be unlocked. This service is supposed to be able to do that with the hardware they have.

Seems kind of crazy that if you ARE on a forum like this AND own this phone you don't know this...it is ALL over the forum about Knox & 4.3. I heard the "other" phone is on sale if you decide to get one!
Well I have my phone back and as advertised, they took my phone back to 4.1.2 with the VRAMC3 bootloader which is as we all know, unlocked. I'll tell you that it was worth every penny. And it wasn't the "lazy way out". It was the only way out. There is no way to unlock the updated bootloader, which you would know by reading the threads for this phone. And by the way, here, or XDA forums, is where I found the information to even do this. I have my unlocked phone back and am happily flashing again.

NICE!
Might have to send mine off...I might be getting the Verizon LG G3 soon though...
I am very pleased with the way my phone turned out. I am now running Alliance build 26 for the first time without safestrap. Hell, I even had Carbon room on it for a bit the first day I got it back. It is awesome to have my unlocked bootloader back again. I highly recommend their services.

Pleased that YOU had a good experience!
I'm surprised to see that someone else had a good experience with this company. So far dealing with this company has been a huge disappointment; not the impression I was under, considering all of the good reviews. I guess "service" just like products are like everything else...sometimes you get a lemon. I'm about to dispute the charge based on suspected fraud.

I can vouch for Josh. He does get busy. Just think about all the phone he gets sent. I will tell you that he is good for his work, will be fair, and if you have an issue, he will work something out with you (this is from my personal experience) He had my phone for over a month. But apologized for it and did not charge me the fee. (not saying he will do this for you) But I know it's hard but be patient and he will get back to you.
