What does your connection speed say under the name of the WAP in settings/wifi. Sounds like your router is not giving you much through put. Also in wifi advanced is best performance checked?

Do you get the same lag on 4G?

@ReAVeR high gains N router. Wifi says 72mbs? Odd but still plenty. Tried with both performance checks n uncheckd.
@Phaded yes.

Speed test. Net gives me 90-108mbs
Settings changes didn't work.
The buffer jumps up to say 45seconds in a 10min video then just stops. When the playback catches up it buffers for a good 5 seconds, and plays about 3-10seconds of video. Rinse, repeat, the rest of the 10minute video.

Remove your YouTube apk and try this one http://d-h.st/J37 you just have to install it, it doesn't need to be in system also do you have flash installed as well?
Sent from my VIPER DNA

Nope. Here's a SS. See the bufffer total? Got that far instantly, then back to the 5seconds of bufffer, 5 seconds of video. I have tried several versions of yt at this point, I have to dl and delete via tube mate. Annoying. Idk wtf happened.. it just started doing it out of no where

Idk what to tell ya man did you post this in the Viper forum as well? Your issue makes no sense and you already stated you reinstalled the rom your on 1.3.3 right? And you fresh installed no dirty flashes right?
Sent from my VIPER DNA

Yea. And its not just YouTube. Flash video, html5. I'm supprised Gifs work.

What model is your router doubt it is the issue but maybe it has your phones mac under a low priority for video protocols don't know why it would though. what kernel you running atm? Edit : and 4g has no issues right?
Sent from my VIPER DNA

Correct. No issues on 4g. ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router.
I don't know a lot about networking but a 100mb connection with a gigabit router and only 4 devices connected(2 DNAs, ps3, laptop) should be able to stream video right?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium

Check the qos settings on it although like I said it's probably not the issue and is also probably not on anyways.
It sounds more like a kernel issue to me. Also forgot to ask did this just randomly start happening or was it like this on stock before s-off?
Sent from my VIPER DNA

Its been working fine for months on viper. I flashed crpalmers sense kernel, but it worked a while after that. Imma play around on other rims I guess.. I don't want to, venoms been my Rom since the rezzy..

I'm using Beaups with no issues. You might want to at this point test it on someone else's wifi and if it doesn't work ruu and start from scratch. I take it you have power cycled your router right?

WiFi acting up

Ever since I bought the evo3d I have had issues with WiFi staying connected at home(haven't tested other networks). While I'm on my WiFi network browsing the internet and threads my WiFi icon will disappear and I lose connectivity. 3g will kick on for about 30 seconds then WiFi will pop back up and connect. It tends to happen every 5 to 10 minutes. No other device, including my og EVO, has this problem. Ideas? Troubleshooting? Replace phone?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I had this issue with WiFi after original EVO got gingerbread. Change the channel on your router, I had to call Verizon, but been good since
Try turning off always on mobile data and mobile data when your on wifi. If you have automatic sync on I'd recommend turning it off as well when your on wifi. A quick way to achieve this is to use the htc data widget.
Locked & Loaded
"" Shooter on Deck""
You can try going to wifi settings, then hitting menu and advanced to turn on wifi performance mode. And you can change wifi sleep mode as well (one of the settings is fifteen minutes, so who knows)

unreliable tethering

my tethering seems very unreliable. im using the latest wifi tether apk but thats irelevant as i have used many versions but the problems persist. allow me to explain, im in no way new to android nor tethering. i have followed all the steps to get 4g tethering speeds ( toggle data off, disable 4g re enable and so on) the thing is i cant get a stable connection from my laptop or my xoom for more than 20 mins. the connection either goes idle or the phone just restarts or i simply get disconnected from it. im just wondering whether it' s just me or whether this a common problem among photon users. many thanks and great forum.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I believe the 4G on your phone becomes idle. Just a guess.
I have heard this happens to other Photon users as well. Not sure what the cause of it is or the fix. I'm going to try some things out when I get time and see what mine does. I've never tried to tether for that long of time before. Will post back if I find out anything new.
**I can only test 3G. No 4G in my area.
Are you rooted or using a rom?
**Ignore this (my) post...had something but changed my mind***
thanks. yes rooted & stock

Working fine for me. I'm also using the latest update (ViperROM Redline v2.5 RC2). Just checked it, no problems logging in and streaming video.
Maybe you should try turn Wi-Fi on and see if it works. If so, you probably have no signal over there.

As I stated in the original post, I have tried on WiFi, 3g, and 4G all with good signals. I get 1.5 mps WiFi and 4-6 mps on 4G

I think some phones are just sol with the app. At one point in the netflix app release line, I could use it. But somewhere along the updates it became unusable. That's why I just now periodically try it from time to time; hoping whatever that's causing my issue will be resolved.

Using LTE for Xbox Live

Believe it or not, Xbox Live does not use a lot of data over our 4G LTE connections.
About 10 games of MW3, some youtube videos, and a few network tests over my 4G on the Xbox only got me 262MB download and 16MB upload.
Anyway, the wifi in my house works real well, and I don't need my LTE for my XBL but LTE is even better than my wifi so I'm thinking I'd see some performance improvement for matchmaking.
However, the NAT is always moderate and I do suffer from higher than average ping,
I know the fixes for routers, etc, but is there a similar option to open ports and such on the wifi tether app to open my NAT?
Thanks.
Been using mobile hotspot for ps3 cod for a while now. No problems at all, other than the high pings and moderate . So would like to know too.
Very interested in finding a answer for this as well. If anyone wants to play mw3 my gamertag is xturbom3x

I luck out sometimes but I've never seen lower than 70 ping on LTE where I live.
Love my 25 ping at home though.

i haven't tried with xbl as both of my 360's are rr'd. i have used it on my gaming netbook however and find it works rather well most of the time.
The only thing I've seen as a solution is here, post 8. It uses barnacle, which I don't even know if that works with the Rezound.

If I had better service at my house I would use LTE, my wifi at home just comes and goes as it pleases.
But, my PS3 does pretty good with my hone wifi anyway. I even end up being host on mw3 sometimes.

I used to see low pings on lte, less than 80 all the time but in the last 6 months, its consistently low 100's here in san antonio.
Considering my home wifi is 5-15ms ping, I'll stick to that. (TWC Wideband)
What app are you all using to tether?
The Wifi Tether app that's included in most ROMs now.
I can't get it to work. Done everything that Scott said and it just doesn't work. But Bluetooth works.
I like to use my phone for gaming tethering. I can play minecraft and tekkit flawlessly. That is not much to say though. I can play leaduebof legends with minimal lag. I can play starcraft 2 with minimal lag. I can play garrys mod with little lag but some lag spikes and lastly I can play bf3 with medium lag. Low. Lag is 40 ping. Medium lag is 80-120. Overall I think that the rezound is more than powerful enough to play most online games.

Very reliable but turns phone into a microwave.

I know how the wifi tether app works, most of us do, we're looking for a way to tether to XbL without a moderate or strict NAT, basically opening ports.

Hi this worked for me. I'm stock and experienced connection issues with my wifi...sitting 2 feet from the router!!! Never had any problems connecting anything via wifi b4.
Go to settings>>wifi>>menu>>advanced. in the advanced section there is a radio button to enable Best Wi-Fi performance. Once activated I had no more connection problems.
Hope this helps.
Not sure if this might help but I changed WiFi to 2.4 GHz and like above best WiFi per. So far good

I did this and it worked for me briefly but then reverted to "authenticating" and then telling me it is the wrong access key for the network. I don't understand why it's doing this but at least for me it seems to be a 1.22 based problem as everything I've run with the prior firmware has been fine....
