[SCRIPT:07/09/2013] custom2stock1click-v0.3 (AllShare Cast temporary workaround) - Galaxy Note II Original Android Development

Hi all,
Just to share this script for convenience. It's mainly for those who use AllShare Cast dongle but prefer custom kernel/recovery. You need to edit the script settings to provide the path of your prefered stock kernel/recovery (get from sammobile.com or from the list below). Please remember to extract the *.img if it's an archive. Refer below for details.
Notes:
If you're upgrading the script, just remember to copy over the script settings 'Begin Settings' to 'End Settings'. Custom kernel/recovery settings are no longer needed as of v0.2. Existing images will be retrieved directly from device, so you can upgrade custom kernel/recovery without modifying the script settings.
Stock kernel/recovery images:
MF2-BOOT-RECOVERY-N7100.zip.
MF2-BOOT-RECOVERY-N7105.zip.
AllShare Cast compatible Custom ROMs:
(N7100) Moon Rom V9 - confirmed by xastunts.
(N7105) JD€VIL S€RI€S INT€RNΔTIΩNΔL {roms} T€AM ZΩDIΔC - confirmed by alexdr1.
Change log:
v0.1 - 1st release (-:
----------------------
Script is to perform a one step click from custom to stock kernel/recovery while also reseting the flash counter using CF's TriangleAway. The system will stay stock but rooted until the next reboot. E.g. I would run custom kernel/recovery for daily use, I'll execute the script once if I need to use the AllShare Cast dongle, then just reboot when done to auto revert back to custom kernel/recovery.
As long as your phone is supported by TriangleAway, this script should work. Tested only on stock rom, you will have to find out if your custom rom works with AllShare Cast dongle. Until someone managed to figure out how to enable this, we need to have stock kernel/recovery to use the AllShare Cast dongle.
Script requires root, also needs busybox and Chainfire's TriangleAway, both installer available from Google Play Store. Optionally you can get the Script Manager app to create a widget shortcut of this script to the home screen. Finally, I'm not responsible to any risk taken by you for using this script.
v0.2
----------------------
Get images from device, custom settings no longer needed.
Skipped TA flash kernel to speed up initial reboot.
Direct SU execution, incase not running as root.
Improve path with spaces and script clean up.
v0.3
----------------------
Revised device detection for custom roms.

thanks for the boot image and the recovery img file! i just been thinking abit about this and i would like if you perhaps could explain how to use this step by step.
you said that after youre been running this script and wants to go back to ur custom rom and kernel again you only needs to reboot and it takes u right back to where you where. how does it nows which kernel and recovery i used? does it back it up?
when i look at this picture you attached here at "the begin settings" its a path for stock kernels /sdcard/document/backups/bla bla bla and then/boot.img
and same for the recovery but /recovery.img at the end.
and next is custom kernel/recovery image path.
kernel /sdcard/download/perseus-alpha-n7100/boot.img
and recovery /sdcard/download/twrp/openrecovery/recovery.img
i made the file folders shorter just to understand and explain it more quicker i know this is the very correct file folders.
u understand my point right? there is a 2 file needed for stock kernel and recovery boot.img, recovery.img
and 2 more files for the custom kernel and recovery boot.img, recovery.img.
in the zip file you attached there is only 1 set of 2 files boot.img, recovery.img.
so my question is what do i do with this files then??
if you just please could explain step by step. like
step1 install busy box
step 2 install triangle away
step 3 run script manager and add script
step 4 execute script and done
something like this! thank you for your effort and sorry if it sounds like i complain to much i just want to make sure we dont brick our devices
doing something wrong here! thanks!!

haha no problem, u got it all right about the files and steps. The zip files I posted contains stock kernel and recovery from latest N7100 MF2 rom (so u don't have to download the 1GB full rom from sammobile). Sorry for the short description, did all those scripting and posting on the phablet :crying: Also sorry for the long paths, its binded to my external sdcard and its how I organize my files
Below are the detailed steps:
1) Install busybox (Usually custom kernel has this, but not the latest. Recommended to install at /system/xbin/ because rom may go haywire if installed in /system/bin/).
2) Install the ultimate magic, TriangleAway from Chainfire (Launch the TA app at least once to download the flash kernel).
3) Settings 1 & 2 are your preferred STOCK kernel/recovery full path (the ones I posted from dropbox). Filenames doesn't have to be boot/recovery.img. You can place them anywhere even in external sdcard
4) Settings 3 & 4 are your preferred CUSTOM kernel/recovery full path (extract the *.img from the tar or zip you got from the developer). Filenames doesn't have to be boot/recovery.img. You can place them anywhere even in external sdcard
5) Setting 5 is the busybox path where you installed earlier.
6) Optionally install Script Manager and add this script to run as root(SU). You can add a widget to this script onto your home screen for easy script execution.

It doesn't know, this is where settings 1 to 4 being used. It's to use tell the script that I want to use these stock and custom kernel/recovery images during the operation. So remember to update the settings if you update to a newer kernel/recovery in the future.
How it works it that, you use your custom kernel/recovery daily, then at one time you need to use AllShare Cast, all you need is just to run the script once. It will flash the stock kernel/recovery (from settings 1 & 2), reboot and let TriangleAway reset the counter and bootup with the stock kernel/recovery (again from settings 1 & 2), . When you are done with the AllShare Cast, just reboot. Your custom kernel/recovery (from settings 3 & 4), will be auto restored.
The long winded way to make AllShare Cast works is to manually flash stock kernel/recovery, reset counter using TriangleAway in recovery mode, use AllShare Cast, then reflash custom kernel/recovery again. This script cuts the hassle into 1

do u think u can help me with that? i got the triangle away apk from google, but i have started the app and pressed reset flash counter it was 40 and now its 0 so that part worked. maybe i just need the flash kernel now? maybe u can pls send me the flash kernel?
edit actually i got it here on xda but i searched from google to find it. TriangleAway-v3.00.apk

6) Optionally install Script Manager and add this script to run as root(SU). You can add a widget to this script onto your home screen for easy script execution.
I did
Once u launch TriangleAway for the 1st time, it will auto download the flash kernel. Now that u already reset the counter, u can continue run the script.
Can u confirm its there?

i can confirm that i dont have that file there! in my /data/data/eu.chainfire.triangleaway/files/ there is only one png file triangleawaysr.png
if you send me that file and i put it in that folder it might even not work as the program itself should know the file is there. but i could try that if u dont mind.

Devoid.Franco Kernel 14

Been using Franco's Rom and Kernel and it's been great. However, I like to update to his v.14 kernel. I did the format
1. Wipe
2. Partition, etc...
3. Load v5 Rom
4. Restart
My problem is right here, the warning is to delete the tweaks file and the script file (which I don't have one) in File Manager. I use the OI manager that comes with v5 Rom but it just wont' delete, and I don't want to load the new kernel because of all the warnings, please help :-(...

it wont delete cause of permissions. I use root explorer for this kind of work. In this particular case i had deleted the nececary scrips from the flash zip and i flashed afterwards. (i had a clean install)
I am trying the clean install as well, can you give the instructions or point me to somewhere where I can read more about this, thanks for your time and effort.
Do I just delete it in the Devoid.Franco v5 zip before flashing and then restart the process (the only file that I can find is tweaks.sh)
Sorry, found the init.d file as well. Would I delete those files in the zip, rezip and then start the process over?
you just delete them from the zip and you flash it as usuall. just dont forget to disable verification check on your recovery or else it will give you error
Sorry, just a newb when it comes to this.
I couldn't delete the two files from the devoid.franco.v5.zip file so I did the following:
1. Extract the zip file
2. Deleted the two files
3. Rezipped the files into a new devoid.franco.v5.zip
4. Load the zip into the micro sd card after all the wipe and partition
5. Disabled Signature check
6. Tried the flash and it said it can't open the zip because it's bad :-(...
This can't be that hard when all the other kernels was easy to install...

Extracting a zip and re-zipping it DOESN'T work. You are not supposed to unzip the file. Just flash the rom, delete the offending files using root explorer, and then flash the kernel.
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using XDA App
You should't extract the file and rezip it. It corrupts it when it comes to flashing. I personally browse the zip file with winrar and simple delete the files i need. I also add files to zip this way like apks, ringtones etc
Trying winrar and it seems to work, gone to see if I can finish the entire process. Thanks so much for your time again. In the future, can I send the apps that I want directly into this zip? I can to sue something zipsigner before to get calendar, etc... Thanks again!!!
An alternative way for a clean install:
1: wipe everything
2: flash devoid.franco.v5
3: reboot (to check if everything is ok)
4: reboot into recovery
5: mount /system partition under 'mounts and storage' (clockworkmod)
6: from pc type (with phone still in recovery): 'adb shell'
7: in adb shell, type: 'rm /system/etc/tweaks.sh'
8: in adb shell, type: 'rm /system/etc/init.d/00script'
9: flash franco.kernel.v14
10: reboot
I Hope it helps,
Bye
You're welcome m8.
And yes you can have the apps you want inside the rom this way very easilly. just put them in app folder. I did this with some removed apps like browser and calendar and also removed zeam launcher and used adw launcher (personal taste) I even tried that with frameworks (aka themes) and it worked great
Thanks so much to both of your posts, it's working. One last questions, thought setcpu was already implemented in this kernel, but I don't see it anywhere? Again, thanks again for everyone's time and effort, learned so much today (wife is mad though because we need to do house work, lol, lol, better get going)... She said, "who formats their phone 5 times in 1 month, lol, lol"
setcpu is NOT included, you have to install it.
See first post in franco.kernel thread for the link.
Eh! eh! you are not in Europe, I guess if you have to help your wife NOW!!!
Barcelona-ManchesterUTD right NOW...
oh yes the wifes. my gf gets fustrated like "wtf are roms and kernels?? its just a phone!!! you call people and they call you back" rofl
One last note on setcpu. When i was using last version (2.13), every time i rebooted my phone the settings where gone and had to set them again. I switched to v2.1 and it worked like a charm. Have no idea if that is general issue or only me had it. Just thought i should tell you
Done via editing the zip with rar and all worked smoothly.
Thx all

ok, I've finally rooted my phone using
Code:

and followed by zergrush
I can now see a superuser icon,
now my next question is, what to do next to mod the phone? is my phone ready now?
...actually I installed this app called "Root Check Basic" from the droid market, when I tapped it, it was requesting for a super root access, and there's an "allow" or "deny" button..do i need to allow that ?

I answered that in your previuos thread.................. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21647119&postcount=24
You can always try this G kernel, has root and CWM Recovery v5:
[KERNEL][I9100G][2.3.5]MyGKernel - CWM5, Root, CIFS
You can flash a lot of stuff,. but be careful, look for compatible ROMS, mods, themes for your G version!
And don't forget; Hit thanks when you have the time.............. It's what we do on XDA when some has tried to be of help. Cheers
I got a question about the binary counter at the download mode, is that harmful ?, because it is increment whenever I flash something thru odin..is there a way to reset that counter ?
If you search it, it will come.

Flashing insecure kernel thru odin increases binary count and causes yellow triangle.
Zergrush is the way to root without increasing binary count and without having yellow triangle. But this is only allowed in 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 and early 2.3.5 builds.
So what I can suggest for addbot is to flash a 2.3.3 rom then do the zergrush method to remove yellow triangle.
This is also possible
Nandroidbackup>flash 2.3.3 stock rom>zergrush, put a rooted kernel like siyah(one kernel for all variants)>Nandroid restore.

It's not harmful. As you would have read, that rooting (anyway,........evidence of it) will most likely void your warranty.
You need a USB jig to reset it (found in eBay for a couple dollars, or make yourself). Certain bootloaders, I think after KI3 (don't quote me on the number ) are locked, so thew jig won't reset. But it may still force your phone into Download Mode if the hard key method won't won't.
I am not sure if the jig will reset on a 9100G or indeed your firmware version.
Intratech's thread here has the old bootloader used to flash locked 9100 bootloaders (so jig will work), but I'm not sure if it is compatible with 9100G. Before even thinking of flashing it, make sure 100% confirmed to work on your model, otherwise you'll have a real hard brick.

There aren't a great deal for 9100G around XDA. Plenty for the 9100/T etc.
Just have a search inthe themes and apps forum or Development for compatible ROMs. Some ROMs are already themed, but some others need the add-ons (if you want).
Another way to theme / personalise is to use the UOT Kitchen to create your own flashable zip. Instructions are there. You will need to upload your framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from your ROM. You'll need a root file explorer such as; root explorer or es file explorer. Ensure they have root access first
Remeber: To make a full nan-droid backup in CWM recovery before, so if it goes "pear shaped" you can easily retore.

I downloaded the clockwork rom manager v.4.8.1.3 from droid market..and I can see a menu "Install ROM from SD Card", does that mean, I can also use this option to install a .apk file that I placed inside my sd card ?

I don't use ROM manager anymore as alot is not compatible with SGS2. Do not use option to flash recovery as will corrupt your recovery/kernel partition.
Try Chainfire's CWM Manager instead. It is attached. Before, ensure phone menu / settings / applications / unknown sources (checked). Install same as any other app, use Package Installer.
Give SuperUser permission "allow" when requested.

Simple,
1. Put the .apk file anywhere (you can remeber) on you internal or external sdcard.
2. Use File explorer (My files) and navigate to the .apk.
3 .Tap on the .apk and use option "Package installer". Done
or,
1. Use root file explorer such as root explorer (es file explorer free on market, may need to change app settings for root) and copy .apk.
2. Navigate to data/app, change option to mount r/w and paste.
3. Boot into CWM recovery
4. Clear cache and advance/wipe dalvik
5. Reboot, will take a few minutes, be patient

cool!, ok, i just wanna verify again..the only way I can install an app to the external sd card is , by installing it the way it should be installed from droid app or manually and then
1 ) Applications
2 ) Manage Applications
3 ) Select App
4 ) tap "Move to SD card" button
is that it ?
( will that help in lessening the burden of the device memory ? )
Yep, that's it. Downside is if you mount your sdcard to anything, app or widget etc will stop functioning.
Won't really help lessen the burden of RAM, but free up more internal memory though.

Use 2nd method from my post #16. Will work.

[04.12.2012][ICS/JB]Universal Rooting for most phones, Any ROM, now with CWM6

Root your ICS/JB phone S2 + Samsung + not Samsung phones - No more waiting for custom kernels
This topic provides universal root methods to bypass the use of custom kernels. I took the time to write it as I was tired from waiting for a Dev to publish a custom kernel for the last firmware released.
I will try here to reference most threads and ways to root your phone. Some methods will let you root as soon as you get the new ROM, no more waiting for some dev to release a kernel for you.
I will not list here custom kernels that come with root, you can find them in other threads.
As a general rule, do not forget to take extra precautions when you flash anything: ALWAYS DO A NANDROID BACKUP IN CWM
Method 1 - Recommended
Push superuser + Busybox (Now v1.20.2 from Linus Yang) in recovery

Now, on the i9100 and some other phones (N7000...), you can flash the attached signed zip files in stock recovery, no more need to CWM.
A BIG BIG THANK YOU TO Chainfire for his support that made it possible and to Entropy512 who pushed me to look for a fix
Attached is the CWM Recovery 4.x non touch version, confirmed safe for wiping. It will not superbrick your phone
>>>>>> Now it is even getting greater with attached Clockworkmod v6.0.1.2 !!!! <<<<<<
>>>>>> Also probably safe from brickbug <<<<<<
Pros
Universal and will probably work on any ICS phone, if you have a CWM image. No longer wait for a modded kernel
On the i9100 and some other phones (N7000...), you can now even root from the stock recovery, no need to the cwm image
No PC needed, only an android device and the zip files that you download to your sd card
Fully reversible unroot without PC needed
No Yellow Triangle (Only for phones with a zip CWM image)
No custom counter increased (Only for phones with a zip CWM image)
Only copies superuser +/- busybox, nothing else is touched, neither /data nor the kernel
No brick risk while flashing cwm even if things go wrong as it will be always overwritten by stock recovery after a reboot

Cons
None since I switched to the CWM4 and CWM6 recoveries (no more superbrick risks under 4.0.4 ICS kernels, only CWM5.x was affected)

Special notes about busybox
The zip files attached in this post install busybox only in /system/xbin. I do not put any symlink in /system/bin
If you previously installed other versions of busybox, I advise to run Busybox Uninstaller v1.0 zip in the thread dedicated to it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853419
It will clean any orphan symlink that could be left from a previous install. After that, install busybox from any of the attached files in this post
The uninstaller in this post, only removes busybox package from /system/xbin. I do not delete any package put in bin, as it is assumed it was put there by another program, not my script. It will not remove any symlink either. So, run the Busybox Uninstaller v1.0 for that

This method was first inspired from Rachmat3 thread here and Chainfire script here (do not forget to thank them). I modified it to work in stock recovery, enhanced script, include Chainfire superSU last version + BusyBox last binary. I also keep a ChainsDD superuser version.
Instructions
For phones affected by the superbrick bug (i9100, N7000) and that has a stock recovery accepting update.zip files (most phones with a temporary cwm.zip file at Clockworkmod site:
You can flash the attached files directly in stock recovery 3e, no need to cwm:
Download the root file:
- Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip for Chainfire SuperSU (the one that comes with CF_Root) without busybox.- Root_SuperSU.0.96-FreeSpace.zip for Chainfire SuperSU without busybox (use only if you have issues with previous one, usually for phones having a /system partition with 0 free space).- Root_SuperSU.0.96-Busybox.1.20.2-S2-signed.zip to install superSU + busybox v1.20.2 from Linus Yang.- Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip if you prefer the classic ChainsDD superuser + Busybox from Linus Yang.- Root_Busybox_1.20.2_Only_XXX.zip to install only Busybox from Linus Yang.
I advise Chainfire SuperSU for 2 reasons: it lets you unroot from within superSU application and it lets you migrate to ChainsDD superuser if you like later
.
Copy the Root_XXX.zip file you downloaded to externalsd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power), and select "apply update from external storage". Now select the Root_XXX.zip file downloaded above and you are rooted
To unroot, do the above steps and replace the file Root_XXX.zip by the attached Unroot_SuperUser-Busybox-Uninstaller-Update2-signed.zip. It will delete superuser, su and busybox packages.
For a complete removal of busybox, look here at my Busybox Uninstaller which will remove ALL busybox symlinks (over 600 files depending on installers used before):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853419
To get temporary cwm (to make nandroid backups...) or if stock recovery gives you a signature error, follow the next more universal steps.

.
.
For most (if not all?) ICS phones having a CWM image at Clockworkmod site:
Download attached cwm-touch-6.0.x.x-i9100.zip for the i9100 Galaxy S2. This is the touch version but it also works with volume up/down keys and power button to select menu.
CWM6 is now thought to be probably safe for wipe, no superbrick risks under ICS 4.0.4: read more here
I also attached the cwm6 non touch version and the recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-galaxys2.zip. CWM4 is also confirmed to be safe for wipe by Entropy512 Recognized Developer
For other phones, download the cwm image from here http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
.
Put the previously downloaded cwm-touch-6.0.x.x-i9100.zip file on your external sd card
Download the attached root file you want as per instructions above
I advise Chainfire SuperSU for 2 reasons: it lets you unroot from within superSU application and it lets you migrate to ChainsDD superuser if you like later
Copy the Root_XXX.zip file you downloaded to internal or external sd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power), and select "apply update from external storage". Now select the cwm-touch-6.x.x.x-i9100.zip file you copied in previous step (this step gives a temporary flash that will disappear after reboot)
You get CWM recovery interface (this custom recovery is temporary, not permanent)
Inside CWM, select "install zip from sdcard". Then, select "choose zip from sdcard". Now, scroll down to the "Root_XXX.zip" file and hit power button to install it.
It will add SuperSU or Superuser last version apk to system/app, last superuser binary (su) to system/xbin and busybox last version to system/xbin, all with correct file permissions.
Reboot and you get permanent root + busybox installed on your stock kernel.

Fix common issues: You end with both ChainsDD and Chainfire superuser and SuperSU
Also another symptom is having constantly superuser asking for updates from market.
Some people are getting duplicates from previous root methods using ChainsDD superuser instead of Chainfire superSU or vice versa when they come from SuperSU and switch to superuser.
Also, this can happen when you updated let's say to a future Chainfire SuperSU v1.0 and later you use one of my outdated scripts (with version 0.94 for example).
The cause is that I do not delete anything from /data/app. I can add it, it is not an issue, but till these brick things are fixed, I chose not to do it.
The solution is very easy:
Just uninstall from stock application manager all superuser applications. The /system/app application will stay as system applications cannot be removed normally in application manager
After that, just update your superuser application from market. Updates are put in /data/app and original copy will stay in /system/app.

Method 2
CF_Root + stock kernel + [optional] Mobile Odin Free version
Here, you use an older CF_Root kernel, and flash your newer stock kernel
First, get a CF_Root kernel from CF_Root thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399. Just get the nearest one to your ROM. You can download any ICS kernel, it will do the job for the root only purpose
Flash the CF_Root kernel with odin
Now, flash again your stock kernel with odin. You can get a stock kernel from lyriquidperfection thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619525
Do not forget to thank / donate to him
No stock kernels for you? use Mobile Odin free version (see below)
After flashing the stock kernel, root will usually stay and you will be reverted back to your stock recovery instead of CWM recovery

Method 3
Insecure Kernels + SuperOneClick + [optional] Mobile Odin Free
Not tested by me. You get superuser instead of Chainfire superSU + an older busybox
First, get an insecure kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619525
Do not forget to thank/donate lyriquidperfection
No insecure kernel for your ROM? Just try a kernel from same ICS version, it usually works fine for rooting
Flash the insecure kernel with odin
Download SuperOneClick v2.3.3 from here http://shortfuse.org/?p=193 and look at this thread for an overview: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Put your phone on USB debugging mode (System Settings / Developer Options)
Launch SuperOneClick and root using auto or psneuter method. Do not use the ZergRush Exploit as it is meant for older exploited GB versions
Now, flash again your stock kernel with odin. You can get a stock kernel from lyriquidperfection thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619525
Do not forget to thank / donate to him
No stock kernel for your ROM? Use Mobile Odin Free version (see below)

Method 4
Insecure Kernels + S2 Root - For SAMSUNG Devices
The tool and all instructions are on lyriquidperfection thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
It will do the same as in method 3, but using a newer and better supported tool than SuperOneClick
You have to flash an insecure kernel, root with S2Root and flash again your stock kernel
It roots using Chainfire SuperSU and busybox 1.20.1 at time of posting
Author is a recognized developer and offers great support
You are still depending on author to release a custom kernel for all your new ROMs

Click to collapse
Mobile Odin Free version
Flash your stock kernel from complete ROM file
Now that Intratech stopped releasing stock kernels in his thread, rooting using methods 2 and 3 can be a problem. In fact, you will not be able to flash your newer original stock kernel after rooting with insecure or cf_root older kernel. You can look in above lyriquidperfection thread for a stock kernel to flash in odin. But, if you do not like to wait for him to release a kernel, you can get Mobile Odin Free version
Download Mobile Odin Free version from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
Do not forget to thank donate to Chainfire
From your stock tar.md5 ROM file, extract the zimage file (your stock kernel)
Put zimage file on external sd card
Run Mobile Odin and specify the zimage file in kernel box like in this image:
Flash, you get your stock kernel and root is normally left

Mobile Odin Pro (Payed) version
Root + Flash - You should consider buying it.
With this method, you will have SuperSU from chainfire (that can be updated from market) but no Busybox.
You can install busybox from market or from attached CWM_Root_Busybox_1.20.2_Only_(No_SuperSU)-S2-Update2-signed.zip file in this thread
Buy Mobile Odin Pro from market here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro
If you want to flash a full new rom, put the tar file on the external_sd. Point all boxes to the ROM tar file. Enable EverRoot option like in image below. Flash
If you flashed your ROM using odin and only want to root, proceed like in Example 4 above to flash only the kernel (zimage file from your actual ROM). Enable EverRoot option and flash
Now, install BusyBox from market or flash my CWM_Root_Busybox_1.20.2_Only_(No_SuperSU)-S2-Update2-signed.zip file with cwm to get last busybox.

Chainfire - adbd Insecure app
Getting switchable insecure kernel WITH stock kernel
One of the advantages for some people in CF_Root kernel is the insecure mode. Now, you can have insecure kernel like behavior without flashing a custom kernel. There is a magic app for that, signed Chainfire.
Thread + free download link here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687590
And you can buy it from market to support author:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.adbd
Instructions, quoted from chainfire
If you are running a stock (made by the phone manufacturer) kernel on your device, chances are adbd is running in "secure" mode, even if you are rooted. This app lets you run adbd in "insecure" mode, which gives you root access in "adb shell", allows access to system files and directories through "adb push/pull", and lets you run the "adb remount" command to make your /system partition writable.
Of course, your device must already be rooted for this to work. It may not work with "S-ON" devices and locked bootloaders.
This app does not make any permanent changes to your device - a reboot will undo any modification. That's why there is also the option to enable this feature at boot.
Note that if you have USB connected when the app activates or deactivates adbd root mode, you may need to unplug/replug the cable or run "adb kill-server" on your computer before adb will work again.

Hi, I always install new ics Sammy roms using Mobile Odin pro, but didn't know that busybox wasn't installed, so I need to know what is the point of installing it? What is the real use of busybox? I've been using my s2 rooted just with mobile Odin pro without any issue... Every root app that I need like titanium backup, root explorer, etc. Are working great, so I don't know what busybox is for...
Sorry for the dumb question and thanks in advance for the help!
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 2
Maybe you once installed a CF_Root or other kernel that comes with busybox
If you do not format /system, most system apps are kept, include busybox
Titanium backup uses its internal busybox version, not the /system one
Root explorer does not use busybox I think, but not sure
To know if it is installed or not, look for busybox file in /system/xbin or /system/bin
thanks ,hey can you also post way to change cf root's recovery (non touchable) to tuch recovery that would be really awesome :highfive:

Unless you frequently use cwm, there is really no need to use cf_root. Only really missing thing is insecure kernel to have adb access as root. I will edit post 1 for adding insecure behavior without flashing
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Done,
I added a paragraph at the end with instructions to have adb shell root access like in insecure kernels

If you already used this method, no need to flash again, just open superSU and update through market. After that, open app and it will update the su binary

Mobile Odin
Thanks for the great guide Phil. A couple of questions..
I have Mobile Odin Pro and I want CWM as well so i have to do this?
Flash new rom with superuser injected, cwm manager and everoot ticked.
Flash CWM with instructions from 1st method
Flash with CWM CWM_Busybox_Only_1.20.1.zip
thats it? I guess this emulates a CF-ROOT kernel right?
thanks again.
No, Chainfire CWM manager app will detect a CF_Root kernel and refuse to launch if another kernel is there
Only CF_Root has Chainfire CWM, a custom written CWM
Other kernels include custom CWM too, look for them
The CWM image here will give you all functions from the original CWM project, but you need to launch it from stock recovery. Just keep the zip on your external sd card, that's it, only more 2 clicks. At the end, you get all CWM functions

[HELP] HTC Desire VC - accidentally formatted the /system folder with recovery mode

My HTC Desire VC (T328d) was rooted and running Android OS 4.0.3 (ics).
In recovery mode, I accidentally formatted /system folder (from internal phone memory).
This is because the recovery mode is all in chinese language and I did a huge mistake.
The phone cannot boot showing HTC logo screen and no boot sound.
I've downloaded the kernel for this device at htcdev.com and I don't know how to use it and what it is for.
Fortunately, I can enter recovery mode. My friend has the same device and his is not rooted yet. Maybe I can get some files from him.
Any solution, please?

Looks like your best shot is to root your friends phone, do a nandroid backup, restore it to yours, then reset to factory defaults.
Don't forget to use V6 SuperCharger afterwards... lol

Thanks for your advice. But, I don't know how to do nandroid backup. The instructions say that it is apk app. I can't even boot my phone and how can I use apk ? In addition, now I installed a recovery from china site (for Desire VC specifically) and it contains backup and restore function. Is it the same with Nandroid Backup or CWM ?
Can you instruct me in some steps, please ?

Yes, the backup option you see in recovery is Nandroid backup. Please be carefull in formatting system, it would wipe your ROM. Always take nandroid backup before you playing with other Rom.
Here you go,
1. Take nandroid backup of your friends ROM
2. Place the backup into your sd card( backup available in clockwork folder in ur friends mobile. Just copy the entire clockwork folder and paste in ur sd card. Now mount the sdcard in ur mobile)
3. Reboot in recovery.
4. Wipe cache and dalvik
5. Restore from nandroid.
Let me know this helps..

Dalvik is virtual machine that runs Android Apps on Android. Dalvik-cache is the cache area for Dalvik VM, it is created when the Dalvik VM optimizes your app for running.
Dalvik is the virtual machine that is used by Android. It is generally thought of as a java virtual machine, although this is not precisely correct. It uses an object model that is identical to java, and it's memory model is also nearly equivalent. But the
Accordingly, it uses a completely different bytecode than java. However, the Android SDK includes the dex tool to translate java bytecode to dalvik bytecode, which is why you are able to write Android applications in java.
When you install an application on Android, it performs some modifications and optimizations on that application's dex file (the file that contains all the dalvik bytecode for the application). It then caches the resulting odex (optimized dex) file in the /data/dalvik-cache folder, so that it doesn't have to perform the optimization process every time it loads an application.

Your recovery is not CWM recovery.
You must flash CWM recovery first. With CWM recovery, you can find "wipe delvik cache"
under Advance menu.

Try all basic things, like clearing RAM, Booting your phone etc. If its not solved, try to flash the kernel via recovery. Please ensure that you are s-off for this. Even after flashing the kernel that issue persists, please check your radio (baseband) is latest. Else update the radio. I guess, flashing kernel will solve the issue.
Please let me know whether you are s-off and rooted.
Tips: its my personal advice to be s-off (your warranty voids)
Edit:
If you are HTC.dev unlocked and s-on then follow below steps to flash the kernel.

From where do I have to find "boot.img" ?
I have only back up folder (ROM) from my friend's phone. And I just restored it (including boot.img) with CWM nandroid backup.
Is that the same with your instruction from step 1 to 5 ?
I can selectively restore "boot.img" with CWM nandroid recovery. Is that the same ?
In addition, the version of Kernel I downloaded is the same with my phone currently. I downloaded it from http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
I got primodd-ics-crc-3.0.16-ead8920.zip file. When I extract it, I just found "bcm4329" folder under "primodd-ics-crc-3.0.16-ead8920/drivers/net/wireless" path. I can't find "bcm4329.ko"
Do you mean the driver in my system is not compatible with my phone after restore ?

Boot.IMG is consists of kernel and ramdisk. They both necessary to start up the device, initializing the hardware, phone etc.
Since you are s-on, while placing the boot.img from nandroid, its not well placed. S-0N means, security on that doesn't allows to flash boot.img from nandroid.
I guess, every time you flash the via recovery boot.img is not placed in correct partition.
So, you have alternative method which allows to place the boot.img in correct path. That's why asked to do it via fastboot mode. Hope you understand.
In addition, the version of Kernel I downloaded is the same with my phone currently. I downloaded it from http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads

Since you have problem only with WiFi and Bluetooth. You can skip fastboot method. bcm4329.ko is same as what you found in the kernel that you downloaded from HTC dev. (Just right click and check the file extension from your pc)
Your friends WiFi and Bluetooth are working fine. bcm4329.ko is responsible for WiFi and Bluetooth. Since you used recovery to restore nandroid, the bcm4329.ko is not placed in the system/lib/modules path. So manually you are placing it
To make it easier do the following
1. From your friends mobile, goto system/lib/modules copy bcm4329.ko file into your pc (use root file explorer)
2. Place that file in your sd card.
3. Then use root explorer and follow the steps mentioned in previous post.( 4 steps under root explorer)
Please let me know if this works.
PS: take nandroid before performing. No warranty for any tips provided. Please do search on google regarding kernel, android partition, bcm4329.ko etc.
Since I don't have pc, I can't help you more with respective links to other sites. Yes, It took much time to compose in my android touch screen.

What does "shine" mean ?
My friend can't find "bcm4329.ko" such a file under /system/lib/modules
So, I'm trying to take matching the files under /system/lib/modules to know the missing files.
Any idea ?
My friend told me he has same files as mine in /system/lib/modules
These are the file list
bluetooth.ko
bnep.ko
btwilink.ko
cfg80211.ko
compat.ko
fm_drv.ko
hidp.ko
kineto_gan.ko
mac80211.ko
rfcomm.ko
wl12xx.ko
wl12xx_sdio.ko
He has only those files (not include "bcm4329.ko")
What should I do now ?

HOW TO
STEP BY STEP GUIDE OF ROOTING,FLASHING CUSTOM RECOVERY & MAKING NANDROID BACKUP/RESTORE FOR DESIRE X DUAL SIM
1.UNLOCKING OF BOOTLOADER
Quote:
Everything starts with this. Unlocking of bootloader will allow you to make changes to some critical partitions of your phone (boot, system and recovery) and will allow you to flash custom recovery that can be used for installing of custom roms, mods and all kind of flashable zips. However, it won't s-off your phone, and other critical partitions (bootloader, radio) remain inaccessible.
So, I won't explain how to do that. Why? Because if you successfully unlock bootloader on your phone it means that you received enough knowledge for the rest of the process and you're qualified to go further.
This process will factory reset your phone (erase data partition) so backup your stuff before you proceed.
Ok, now go to htcdev.com, register your account, go to unlock bootloader section, for the device choose 'All other supported models' and follow the instructions carefully everything is explained in details. Pay attention to 'Required resources' on the first page after confirmation - you need Android SDK platform tools Java Runtime Environment and HTC Sync installed and there are all needed links. Files mentioned in step 5 you will find in Android Bundle zip you downloaded in folder adt-bundle-windows-x86_64\sdk\platform tools.
Here are some useful links about Android SDK platform tools, you won’t be needing most of it but it won't be bad to read.
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=ADB
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fastboot
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/fastbootRemark: once unlocked bootloader can be relocked but can never be locked again. This can be done issuing command from fastboot:
fastboot oem lock
This means that on the top of you bootloader screen you’ll have a sign RELOCKED instead of LOCKED, which is a notice to HTC that you unlocked it once. Plus they have data about all users that requested unlock_code so they can deny your warranty whenever they want.
If you’ve successfully unlocked your phone bootloader we can proceed to the next step.
2. CUSTOM RECOVERY INSTALLING AND ROOTING
-Here you can find custom recoveries attached below.Rename it to recovery.img and put it on the root of c: drive on your PC.
-Also you can download Super su from
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
-Connect your phone to PC and put Supersu.zip file somewhere on your phone Sdcard.
- Do not disconnect your phone from PC, reboot phone to fastboot on one of this ways :
1.Choose restart from power menu and when the screen comes off wait for the buttons to turn off and immediately push volume down, the phone will boot to bootloader, then select fastboot from bootloader menu
2.Issuing command
adb reboot-bootloader
from command prompt that will take you directly to fastboot
- Once you’re in fastboot mode open command prompt, lead it to folder where you installed adb and fastboot (remark: unlocking bootloader guide pointed you to make a folder c:\Android for this) and issue commands:
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
The second and third commands are not quite necessary but they don’t harm and leave your phone with no trails of previous recoveries. Now you can disconnect your phone from your PC.
- From fastboot menu choose bootloader and then recovery to reboot phone to recovery
- If you successfully boot to recovery choose options:
Install zip from sd card
Choose zip from sd card
Navigate to superuser.zip you stored on sd card and choose it. Once the installation is finished reboot your phone. Now you should see Superuser app in app drawer and your phone is rooted.
3.HOW TO MAKE NANDROID BACKUP[Step1-2] & RESTORE[Steps 3-6](Generating System Dump)
From @NexusPrime experience of building recoveries, if backup works, there is 99% chance that restore will also work....
1. Boot to recovery
2. Select Backup, and COMPLETE backup of each partition(Remember to select Sdcard as storage option for backup before swiping the Backup button)
3. Now, Wipe ONLY DATA, DALVIK, and CACHE (It is essentially a factory reset, so dont wory, you'll just lose contacts, sms n apps)
4. Now reboot, check whether factory reset was successful.
5. Boot to recovery again
6. Restore the data partition ONLY.
7. If it is Successful, Reboot, and check all apps are back or not...
8. If they are back, then celebrate, You can safely take nandroid backups and restore them.
It is the safest path i can suggest. and negligible risk if at all.
OR
If possible get the whole complete SYSTEM by following below method -
If you copy them with ES File explorer, it's going to be a bit tedious as you need to copy folder by folder. If you just simply select system and copy to sdcard you will have missing files. And the easiest way to get the full system dump is :
The device usb debugging is enabled & make sure the device is connected to PC. Then from your adb/fastboot folder then run this command :
adb devices
adb pull /system/
The full system dump will be in your adb/fastboot folder
then zip the whole folders and keep it safely.

Viper4android
Installation flash method for s-on HTC DESIRE X DUAL SIM T329W PROTODUG
If anyone Got viper4android fx or hifi (audio mod) by @zhuhang @viper520
But it won't work on your HTC phones due s-ON (/SYSTEM WRITE PROTECTION)
even if you are rooted.
For over nearly 2 months I have been trying various things 2 get viper audio fx to work on
HTC DESIRE x dual sim t329w protodug, ,,,,,,,,,
So, here I got it working after many searching$
Recommendations :
1. TWRP for htc protodug by @neXus PRIME
2. Download this below :
(necessary mod only for htc desire x dual sim t329w protodug)
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/egx2gpjxyl7a6bh/mda8Rr8jza
now you got the folder viPer audio for htc protodug, ,,
Note :- don't try on any other device
As the files are edited to work only on
htc desire x dual sim t329w protodug
Commands are edited under original/stock
build.prop and audio_effects.conf extracted from [[protodug]]
And only for those who are currently on
stock rooted HTC PROTODUG (T329W)
and/or running roms built by @ckpv5 for
Htc desire x dual sim t329w protodug
Follow these steps, ,,
1. Put the folder in sdcard where you can locate it easily, open the folder
INSTALL the viperfx.apk and viperhifi.apk both as a regular app.
2. Now boot into recovery,
3. First thing to do is --- creating a "NANDROID BACKUP"
(skip, if you already got NAND backup)
4. Now under MOUNT tab Ensure sdcard and system are mounted.
5. Get into ADVANCED tab
Click on FILE MANAGER --- scroll to sdcard and locate the folder viper audio for htc protodug.
open it and, (execute carefully !)
Click on build.prop and
copy the file and browse to /system and
click the select button on bottom right corner and then you will be asked 'swipe to confirm' then, swipe.
go back to viper folder on sdcard and now
click on audio_effects.conf
and copy the file and browse to /system/etc
and repeat the same swiping procedure for confirming copy,,,,
AND back 2 viper folder you will find these soundfx libs for viper audio,,,,
libv4a_fx_gb.so
libv4a_fx_ics.so
libv4a_xhifi_ics.so
You have to copy these each to /system/lib/soundfx
Done, ,,,,,,,
copying summary to confirm :-
-- build.prop to /system
-- audio_effects.conf to /system/etc
-- (libv4a_fx_gb.so , libv4a_fx_ics.so , libv4a_xhifi_ics.so) to /system/lib/soundfx
6. Now fixing permissions..........
Recheck whether system and sdcard are mounted,,,
get into advanced/file manager Select /system and click on build.prop ,,,,
you have to click on chmod(never click on chmod 755)!,,
There you will see default value 0000 ,,,
edit the value to 0644 and
press enter button on keyboard(qwerty).
And slide to confirm.
Now head to /system/etc ,,,
click on audio_effects.conf and select chmod ...
Enter the value 0644 Confirm by swiping.
After, go to /system/lib/soundfx
And fix permission via chmod entering value 0644
For each of the below, ,,,,,,,,
libv4a_fx_gb.so
libv4a_fx_ics.so
libv4a_xhifi_ics.so
Now reboot the system under REBOOT tab
Open, viper audio fx and hifi simultaneously, ,,,,,,,,,,,
Check the options tab for "driver status"
You will get :-
For viper4android/viper audio fx
Driver version - 2.3.2.2
Neon - enabled
For viper4android hifi
Driver version - 2.1.0.2
Then 100 % success.............
Congratulations
Turn off DVC under settings/audio/advanced tweaks if you want to use it
with poweramp
And try not to merge any other equalizer/mod wit these two (fx and hifi)
It will distort the quality.........

Hey dude m sry bt i dn hav internet connection on my pc
Bt m going to my frnds place i will uploaded asap
Till try to unlock nd root your phone
@Ghost1510
Can you check and advise your software version no., is it 2.12.1402.1 as I posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46966857&postcount=39
Now you said you can restore with no problem, will you take the risk to try flashing the ROM that I posted ? If it doesn't work, you can restore your nandroid backup, right ?
If it work and it is the same version no. as yours, I will deodexed that one and later make it full sense.

Unlocking bootloader and rooting desire xds
STEP BY STEP GUIDE OF ROOTING AND FLASH CUSTOM RECOVERY FOR DESIRE X DUAL SIM
Here are some useful links about Android SDK platform tools, you won’t be needing most of it but it won't be bad to read.
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=ADB
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fastboot
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/fastboot
Remark: once unlocked bootloader can be relocked but can never be locked again.
Quote:
There you can find custom recoveries for DesXDS . rename it to recovery.img and put it on the root of c: drive on your PC.
There you can find out super su
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
connect your phone to PC and put it somewhere on your phone sd card.
- Do not disconnect your phone from PC, reboot phone to fastboot on one of this ways :
1. choose restart from power menu and when the screen comes off wait for the buttons to turn off and immediately push volume down, the phone will boot to bootloader, then select fastboot from bootloader menu
2. issuing command
adb reboot-bootloader
from command prompt that will take you directly to fastboot

@ckpv5
Done wid system dump its around 450mb zip so when i upload it.
I will PM you ..
Here my software info
@Ghost1510 My software info are exactly same as that of yours. I will wait to root my device till you successfully port full sense deodexed Rom from any developer. When you successfully do it then I will proceed. It will be bad if both our device brick at once. Hope you understand the situation. Beside that my my device is not even 20 Days old. So I fear the risk of damaging my New device.
