Xperia U Serious Problem - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

My Xperia U Too Slow I Have Tried Many Methods Posted In General Discussion I Also Rooted My U(w/o unlocking bootloader). Currently Using ICS(6.1.1.B.1.10 firmware) And My Free RAM Is Always Less Then 120MB.I Also Installed App Quarantine To Freeze Unwanted App Bt Still Nothing Works. Even Games Like Temple Oz Lagging In It. Bt When I AM Using It On GB I Can Play Maxpayne And Other Games w/o Any Lag.Please Suggest Me Some Good Method To Make It Fast I Am New Here And Hoping For A Some Good Answers.Any Type Of Help Will Be Appreciated.

best is to upgrade to a newer firmware of ics... the build u r using is the oldest/first ics build... so i suggest u should upgrade..(use flashtool and a proper ftf file)

Actually 120 mb free ram is more than sufficient u can't change it because system also need ram to work however you can download clean master this app is really helpful to manage your system or uninstall unwanted apps
Here is my free ram
Press thanks if I helped!!!

Yea. Either root and cwm your current ics then flash GB-Rocks rom. Or use flashtool and flash the standard gb ftf.

My Phone Is Rooted And I Dont Know Anything ANout Flasing Is It Safe? And ALso How Much Free RAM Will Be There IN GB ?

Choice for you!!
First of all Welcome to XDA Bro!!
Now for ur problem. There are 2 solutions which I can mention.
1) Flash a Better Stock ROM.
Choose this method if you have a Locked Bootloader and don't want to Unlock it or If you can't Unlock your Bootloader.
I would suggest you to Flash a Stock based ROM - Venezuela Xperia U MOD
Remember though that for this ROM you first need to flash Stock B.1.100 ROM (B.1.10 and B.1.100, both are different).
Instructions are already there within the respective Thread.
Click to collapse
2) Flash a Custom ROM
Choose this method If you have already unlocked your bootloader or wish to unlock it.
This is my preferred option as a Custom CM/AOKP/AOSP ROM is much much better compared to Stock/based ROMs as it is void of any kind of Bloatware and provides better performance/responsiveness.
For this option I would recommend you to Flash SlimCM ROM which is a CM based one.
Though keep in mind that by flashing a Custom ROM you will lose Bravia Engine/xLOUD/Illumination Bar* like facilities.
Illumination Bar will only work for Notifications, it will not glow when you will touch the capacitive buttons. It will not give you the chameleon like effect when you open Music app or Gallery app.

Choice is yours.
PS: I also read that you are new to flashing. For flashing, first of all you'll need "Flashtool" which is a software. Just Google it. Then search for some guides to using Flashtool on XDA.

I didnt have good experiences with custom ROM/Kernel thingies... I had SGY earlier and I tried many custom ROMs. All people are lauding in the threads but on my phone the ROMs were buggy and laggy. Now I have an XPU and installed a famous custom rooted overclocked kernel. The phone lagged too much, too often, so much so that I have to reflash the clean plain stock firmware package altogether..
for XPU I'd suggest 6.1.1.C.1.0. Though the camera focus is slow but the overall performance is marvelous. AnTuTu scores 7287. On the first ICS update, it was somehwat like 5500....
You won't get an answer here as the work for ROMs are done on the developer's free time. It's simply rude to say that Rom X is better than Rom Y.
Try them all out and see for yourself.
Thanks guys good point also the devs put there time into ROMs and that would be rude

I'd say go for C ftf, root it. Delete all the pointless stuff including the t mobile boot and shutdown animations and add cwm

flashtool new version benefits???

Hi,
M having flashtool. 9.8.0
Just wanted ask is there any benefit of updating to. 9.10.1 ??!
Changelog there is not so helpful
Also I have a limited data plan so need to b assured about what m downloading
Thanks
There are bugs in rooting some devices using 9.8.0.0 You can download a little update to get the 9.8.1.0 version which those bugs are fixed, but personally I prefer to spent more time downloading the new 9.10.1.0 version

This has been asked many times before.
Anyway Sony 2011s have a different partition scheme which makes boot partition accessible only in fastboot.
So you have to carry on with flash tool I guess

it's not possible on sony phones
as they don't have a recovery partition
it can done on samsung phones

[Devs-only][WIP][ThinkTank] Dualbooting on Xperia U

Now It's a pain in the *** to test a rom and we have to restore rom or some sort to get back to our daily rom.
And Sony Xperia S had succeeded,I'll take it as a reference and see if we can work on this.
This is not a placeholder.
Link to the Xperia S thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880305
I'll be "investigating" this. And I also need all the devs help. (I'm not really an highly skilled developer,so I would really need some help here)
Devs only please. No request for tester or users that asks for ETA. Do not post any reply unrelated to development on this thread.
Keep it only for devs, and make it clean.
Devs,good luck to you guys.
Dual recovery is needed,I'll start by porting TWRP. (I'll focus on this first)
Wow. This is kick ass stuff.
Similar to what was done in G3MOD, except that here its actually dual boot, with the ROMs installed on internal storage, while there it was implemented in a slightly simpler way by packing multiple ramdisks and extracting system.img files when required to switch between ROMs.
Considering our already existing problem of not having of an expandable storage, G3MOD's implementation seems far more appealing.
I will take a look at this soon enough.
Well I didn't store a lot of things on my device, only roms and some other stuff,my internal storage is actually more than enough.
But that method seems to be more friendly on the internal storage,as we have a lot of unused phone memory. (the place where roms are installed to)
I'll look into that too.
Edit : It seems like the G3MOD project is already abandoned. But we can look at their sources at github.
We could make it load from sdcard by pressing a combination of buttons on Sony logo! We need kernel first of all! But also a way to do it.

We're trying to dual boot different rom with different kernel
I don't believe that we can make it load a different kernel! If we could then we could also let permanently locked bootloaders to do so too! We will have to load it from a single kernel!

In the first thread,Xperia S is able to load two kernel.
why is there always have to be made for locked bootloader?
custom kernel NEEDS an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
how can you use a single kernel?via the patch?
