[Q] Rezound dead? - HTC Rezound

Hello!
Earlier tonight I received a text message and then my phone died - I knew the battery was nearly dead.
When I plugged it in, nothing happened - no orange LED like usual.
I let it sit for a while and still nothing.
Eventually I pulled the battery and put it back in and still won't power on.
Pulled the battery again (left it out), left the back cover off, and then plugged in the power.
After about 2 seconds the orange LED comes on for about 4 seconds and then turns off <---I've not seen any other posts mention this.
The phone will not boot still though - tried holding down power for 60 seconds, and even tried in conjunction with volume up and volume down.
The screen remains black, no vibration, no HTC logo .. nothing.
My wife has the same phone, so I put her battery in mine and it still will not boot.
My phone is NOT rooted or modified in any way (using stock VzW rom)
The screen is cracked but it's been that way for months and I've had an Otterbox on it ever since (go figure .. should have had one before it got broken). It's been working fine. It has not gotten wet today, or been sat on, or dropped or even looked at funny.
The phone is out of warranty and I do not have VzW accidental coverage.
Are there any more tricks to try, or should I go to the store tomorrow?
Thanks!
I am going to plug it into the computer and see if ADB will see it, but my assumption is no.
I'm thinking maybe the processor died... ???
I know if a PC processor dies then nothing happens when trying to boot .. no post beep or video.

Try charging the battery on your wifes phone then turning yours on and see if it works if the processors dead like you assume then well R.I.P Rezzy if you call verizon they will tell you to do a factory reset from the recovery maybe you could try that

Samsung Galaxy S2 - Wont turn on.

Well back again with new problem.
Have just had my phone back after it was repaired only a week ago by samsung; they repaired the software, replaced screen, battery and USB port. Now my unrooted phone, with only usual apps, has again failed on me. Was on the home screen, nothing else running, and it turned itself of. After a minute turned itself back on, held at the Logo, and then turned of again. Now it wont turn on what so ever. Its not got hot, its not got cold, its not been in a room with steam, its been sat in a decent zenus case, in a house with radiators etc on.
I seem rather unlucky with phones, my old Nokia 5800 went into repair 6 times, until I gave up and brought a £10 phone, that I'm having to use again now.
I have tried charging, despite the fact it was still 62% full when the phone went of. I don't do extreme sports with the thing, I barely use the phone, yet it still keeps breaking. Disappointed, because the phones pretty decent, but starting to feel like I don't do well with them.
Rant over.
Update: Just tried after 30 minutes to turn it on. It turned on for about 15 seconds, got into the unlock screen, unlocked, went to the menu screen and it turned itself of. I put the charger straight in, was charged up to 59% anyway, but thought maybe might be battery... But doesn't seem to be.
Wont turn on/Charge again. The phone is fine temp.
What you're describing could be a phone with a drained battery.
So check the battery with a voltmeter and check the charger. One (or both if you're really unlucky) of them could be busted.
Edit: You can check the charger by plugging your phone to your PC and charging it from there. If it works then it's the charger if it doesn't then check the battery.
Is all else fails return the phone to a service center.
Try this-
Take out the battery, then press and hold the ON button for 7-10 seconds (the longer the better). Reinsert the battery, then press ON button to start it. This is a soft reset, and wipes the temporary memory and empties all remaining power in the circuits. This helps on many phones and even laptops that won't start properly or show anything on screen.
If this does not work, try the next step. Again, do as above. But after inserting the battery, do not turn the phone on, but press and hold the ON button and the HOME button at the same time for 7-10 seconds. This is a hard reset, and works best if done after a soft reset. Just be sure the battery has at least some juice in it and isn't empty. If possible, try with another battery if this does not work.
I read earlier about a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose fitting battery. They put some foam or something at the bottom of the battery so that it would stay tight and retain contact.
You could probably test for this by removing the back cover and pushing the battery upwards while powering on.

Thank you very much MichaelAmrs. you saved my Galaxy S2
Awesome Advice
Thanks MichaelAmrs
I have had some serious trouble with my GS2 not working and the latest has been it not turning on. I stuck my battery in the freezer and then did what you suggested and it worked like a charm. Instead of getting it to boot I tried putting it in Download mode and was able to install the Stock ROM on it and hopefully now it will last. But if nothing else at least it is turning on again.
Good luck.

[Q] Help With Permanent Screen Lock or Possible Battery Short

I woke up this morning, phone worked fine. Used it throughout the day, and then come about an hour ago, the screen will not turn on, nor respond to being plugged into the charger, whether USB through the PC or wall charger.
I know my battery was rather high, so it isn't dead. I had a friend call me and she informed me that my phone rang normally, then went to voicemail, but my phone didn't ring, nor vibrate, nor even light up. I can't tell if it's stuck locked or if the battery got knocked loose somehow or something else internal.
I haven't dropped it, there's no water damage, nothing of note that I'd think would cause this.
Is there any further troubleshooting one could suggest I do before I crack and get it replaced through ATT?

Sounds like BSoD (black screen of death). Try holding power button down for 15 seconds, release, and repeat.

That just happened to me this morning. I was at 90% the screen shut off and no response since. I tried the power button for 15 seconds then again nothing. So I proceeded to take the back cover off and do a battery pull still nothing. Any help would be great this is my only device and warranty department is not an option.
I had a similar issue after using a wonky charger. It bricked the phone. But sending it in to LG was no problem, and after a week without it, I get it back tomorrow.

[q] need immediate help

After having the origional HTC Amaze i purchased sent back to TMobile due to my WiFi not working, they sent me a referbished one. 3-5 days ago my phone began to shut off at random times. But tonight it shut off, and when I went to turn it back on, it vibrated like it should but the screen stay black (No Tmobile splash or anything). I proceeded to remove the battery for 30 seconds (counting by mississippi's) and reinserted the battery. Again, it vibrated like it would turn on, yet the screen stayed black. I retried this process multiple times to no avail. I read on another thread that i should plug it in for 30-45 minutes incase the battery is dead. Upon plugging it in, the charge light booted orange like it should, but went out and the phone will vibrate like its booting, pause for 60 seconds and vibrate again.
I tried to factory reset it (Hold down the volume down key and press the power button) And it again stayed black and vibrated like it was trying to turn on, but the screen stayed black.
Im not worried about anything on the phone being lost or destroyed. I never tried to root it or anything, i just put music on it.
If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

How long ago did you send it to tmo for the replacement? I would just send it in for another replacement if you are still within the time frame. If you never rooted it or modified it then it has to be a hardware problem or maybe try a different battery
Maybe 3 months ago? I don't have insurance but the funny thing is, it started happening when i downloaded a software update

If the device wont turn on, there is really no troubleshooting you can do besides trying a different battery. Call t-mobile and if they won't help you call htc directly, they have a 1 year limited warranty (i think it cant have any physical damage like its been dropped or anything)

Phone will only power up for 7 seconds total

Had and still have an issue today. While driving earlier yesterday, I was listening to music in my car with phone connected on headphone jack. It made a buzzing noise( that came through car audio) , I disconnected and removed battery. I replaced battery and phone will not turn back on at all, will only show both Samsung logo's then go black screen. The phone will only power up for a total of 7 seconds from initial power up vibration on any combination of buttons,or even using a JIG
which went right into download mode.
- If I plug into power source , phone will just vibrate.
- I removed battery and replace, both Samsung logo's will appear then turn off.
- If I hold volume down + power button and place battery in, it will go into download mode. In this mode I can hit volume down to restart but it will just stay on black screen. Also if I hold these buttons down and do nothing the screen will just go black after a few seconds.
- I can also put into download mode to hook up to ODIN using same method and pressing volume up, but will say downloading then shut off.
- I've tried holding down volume up+down and power and it will not go into recovery.
- Odin with recognize it for a second (say device plugged in) and start to download files then it will say device unplugged after a few seconds
I've been looking at unbricking and unrooting threads with no luck. Any help is appreciated.
I don't know about the buzzing sound, but the rest sounds like a dead battery. Are you sure it's charged or that your charger didn't die on you? I don't believe phones brick after the flash is up and running.

Yes I'm 1000% percent sure its not a dead battery and even had it at AT&T warranty center this morning having them look at it. I was trying my luck even though its out of warranty. This issue is like none I've heard, because of the fact that phone actually powers up and I can get into download mode within those 7 seconds, but will shut off after. I've timed it till it powers off.

Am having this same issue with my girlfriends phone just as of a couple hours ago. It's completely stock and just recently received an OTA update a few days ago, she showed me bragging how she can watch videos and do other things at the same time now knowing how much I want a Note lol, she's had zero issues with it other than the battery getting very hot while charging a week or so ago and seems to be very slightly bulging now that I've looked at it. Out of nowhere today as we're walking through a parking lot and she's carrying it in her hand, not even using it, she says something is wrong with her phone and hands it to me with it vibrating every couple of seconds and not reacting to any buttons. I take the battery out and when we get inside put it back in and without even pressing anything it goes to the Samsung logo, black, animated Samsung logo, then turns off and goes back to vibrating every couple seconds. I look up the button combination for recovery and download mode and all that, I try recovery and it does the same vibrate every couple of seconds but never goes to recovery, and if I take the battery out, hold down volume down, then put the battery in it comes up with the warning about installing ROMs and all that, weather I press volume down or do nothing it stays at that screen for maybe five seconds then turns off and the only way I can get to the download mode is to take the battery out then press volume down. I have the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G and the batteries aren't the same but are very similar, mine is just shorter and 1500mAh, hers is taller and 2500mAh. So for the heck of it I put hers in my phone and hold it enough to where it connects and turn on my phone without issue, it boots up and shows 70% on the battery, I now have it plugged in and charging the battery at the moment with no issues. I put my battery in her phone and held it till it connects and it does the same Samsung logo, goes black, Samsung animated logo, then turns off BUT no vibrating anymore. If I press ANY button though as long as it's being held it vibrates every couple of seconds and if I hold volume down while I connect the battery it goes to Download mode but can't do anything and it turns off after about five seconds same as before, still no recovery access either. Heard that there is a power button issue with this phone and for the heck of it I've wiggled and pressed the power button with no charger or battery connected for around half an hour just to see if I can make it better, but no luck.
Hope to hear a solution to this. I would take the back cover off and clean the power button but I'm not sure if that would void the AT&T insurance, not going to try till I know I can get away with it without them knowing because if I can't fix it it's getting sent off for repairs.
EDIT: And sort of following captemo's suggestion I took a metal box, laid a hoodie over it for a bit of padding, then moderately bounced the phone on its power button side (without letting the power button be pressed/pushed, by letting it hang over the edge of the box) for a minute or so as if thinking the power button was stuck pushed in and I was trying to knock it back out, then put its battery back in and what do you know it turns on fine now. Weirdest way I've ever had to fix a phone, but hey it works now so the girlfriend will be happy.

Sort of is about right, glad you got it going. Many will complain about the button still clicking even though button is actually stuck. Many have cited some very simple sounding instructions for cleaning power button contacts with minimal deconstruction of phone. Using swab and alcohol. Run a search in q&a, sure you will get something.

Is my phone dead?

Phone has been running fine for months, then all of a sudden, it won't boot. Wife said she hasn't dropped it or anything. It is an SCH-i545 with the latest PhoenixROM.
When I turn it on, it briefly shows 'Samsung Galaxy S4', then that disappears and left with a blank black screen from which I can't reboot or shut off without taking out the battery. If I try download mode, I get the warning screen but it goes black before I can hit VolUp to continue. If i try recovery, I see the blue recovery starting text but then the screen goes black. Also, if I plug in the charging cable with battery out, then insert the battery, it won't turn on.
My phone did this. All efforts to get it to boot were futile. Samsung, and then dark. And then just never booted again. Even trying to charge it, the charging screen never showed. Not a vibrate or anything, I even shined a flashlight on the LCD to see if maybe the backlight just died, and again nothing. That was 4 months ago, and today for ****s and giggles I plugged it into my Anker battery to charge and the charging screen came up!!!!! I let it fully charge and then booted the phone and it works again!!!!
Now I just have to fix the screwup I did a long time ago with the radio, I did the "Golden Backup" improperly and my radio quit working on CDMA altogether. No documentation to be found, even Samsung upper tier support has no idea how to resolve it or even what the hell I'm talking about. I'm guessing there is no support but maybe flashing a modem will resolve it.

Same radio issue, I get no signal on the phone, just a circle with a diagonal line inside
This is sick
If you can get it to boot into fastboot, just reflash the full OEM rom which should include the modem image
