[Q] S4 Headphone (Unroot) - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

When I listening to music with stock music player + stock headphone
after I went to jogging for 15 Minutes it's start to randomly decrease/increase volume
and now I did update a firmware to latest and even ask for warranty to replacing new one,
[My old one completely messed up, bass gone, answer call button is not working.]
they gave me a new one but this issue is still with me I really don't know about this so I've 2 conclusion.
1. The headphone doesn't water-resistance and it get soaked with my sweat. (My previous S2 Headphone fully soaked but it's alright)
2. It's the system bug or something about the device.
PS. I never had issue about headphone distortion or volume before, only this issue.
Anyone had any idea of this??? please help...
Thanks a lot:good:

It is most likely your sweat dripping into the inline controls.

[HELP!] Hero having problems with ear headphones/handsfree

I have my Hero's original handsfree and since 3 days ago only 1 earpiece is working, same thing happens with my mp3's ear headphones and other handsfree from my friend, all of them work on 1 "speaker" on my phone. I mention that all the above work flawlessly on my friend's phone. First I thought it's the rom, so I changed the rom (Android 2.1, 2.2, 2.3) but with no success. Yesterday I tried plugging in my regular headphones (those that cover the whole ears) that I use on my computer and both of the "speakers" work. What can I do ? Small headphones suddenly aren't fully working but my normal headphones work great.
Everything was working great until 3 days ago. Tried on calls, Rom's music player, video player, youtube, some online radio player, different music players, video players, no results. Please someone help me with an idea of what's going on and how to fix this.
"Hardware" problem. Try removing upper button from the volume control, usualy there is the place where wires are soldered to the circuit. - and usualy there they broke
Hint - to be shure try another working handfree before blaming phone/soft/firmware - HF must be for Hero for everything to work, and you may just put ordinary headphones to test left/right channel sounds.
I'm not blaming the soft or my handsfree or headphones or the firmware but I dunno why is it reacting this way ! But leaving the handsfree beside for a moment I dunno why the ordinary headphones work on both on L and R "speakers"... but the ones that go in the ears work only on L or R "speaker" and this ones work great on my mp3 player. They also worked on my phone until 3 days ago.
I've disassembled my phone and there's no wire on the jack slot .. it's directly connected to the main board and doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the bond. It's not possible if you think of it. Gonna call an exorcist for my phone or something gonna take it to the shop in the morning maybe they can take the evil from it thanks anyway
Edit : The guys over the phone shop fixed my problem ... there was something f**ked up in my Jack slot or something. Now I can use my handsfree again
maybe i was not correct, but in my case it was in teh "control box" of handsfree, i never opened the phone.

Ear buds

I'm having a problem hearing music using ear Buds / headphones and was wondering if anyone else was having this issue on titan. The sound goes real dull almost like non-stereo and I have to hold where the 3.5 mm jack is and wiggle the earbuds to get a clear sound. I bought new skoal candies and tried 3 other pairs so I'm guessing its my phone but was curious if anyone else was having this issue.
Thx
from Titan on XDA Windows Phone 7 App
ear buds and the like
It might just be your 3.5 mm connection...I tried mine out just now (I had not added music to my Titan previously) and plugged in and was very very pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. I had surmised for myself that my PDA was for phone and calendar etc, and the iPod or other MP3/4 player for audio - mostly for quality of sound. I won't make that mistake again. The Titan is good - very good.

DId you use IE while listening to Music? I don't have any problems with Music playback (Used it to listen to my music collection during work hours whole last week) However I noticed that when I launch IE (search, or by launching IE on its own) sound quality suddenly changes, and degrades..

Hm, I think it has something to do with bluetooth stereo vs headset profile. Weird that it happens with regular ear buds.
Sent from my PI39100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I think its defective, I'm going to call ATT tomorrow and have it replaced because I have to hold where the earbuds fit into the 3.5 connecter and put a little bit of pressure to get the sound to come thru. I'm glad to hear no one else is having an issue so thats good
I'm having issues too.
I had problems with my audio jack too. I was looking on here to see if anyone else had issues. At first, I thought that I had a failing headset but then I put another one in and after awhile it started doing the same thing. It's not right away but it seems to start up after a bit. It's really concerning me though. I'm considering getting a replacement and hope this is just a minor issue that affects a few units. I don't want to wait and have it develop into a bigger issue. It frustrates me though, because I had originally bought a focus s and the hands free button didn't work right. It seemed like an issue with the way it registered button presses. Now, I get this phone and the button works right but I'm having these audio issues. Argghh.
I don't have a problem with any earbuds , every one i tried works for me. It might just be your phone itself. maybe deffective? If i was you i would try regular ipod headphones or a friends to see if that really is the problem
hi all, question about the volume sensitivity on the titan. i used to have an iphone 3gs then switched to the skyrocket to try out android but i'm really unhappy with the android music players so i'm either going to trade it in for the iphone 4s or the htc titan (still within the 30 day period).
on my iphone i could set the max volume to wherever i wanted and would have plenty of intermediate volumes to get the level right where i want it.
however, with the skyrocket by the time i hit the 3rd volume level (0=mute, 1= up volume button pressed once) the volume physically hurts my ears and i like loud music.
i'm using the stock headphones that came with my iphone 3gs because i like the fit and the in-line remote. i know these have low resistance but still, only having 2 usable volume settings is ridiculously annoying because i can only listen to music really softly or a bit louder than where i want it to be.
how do you guys feel the volume sensitivity is on the titan? are there more than 2-3 acceptable volume levels for low-resistance (small earbud) headphones? thanks!
i use the included earbuds and the 30 level volume settings seem to fit most situations
Replace it since you're within the 30 days. I got a new one and the issue is cleared up, I had a defective unit. Very happy with it now

[Q] 3.5 MM Headphone jack issue

Hey guys I need some help.
I noticed the last few days that my headphone jack in my phone is not working any more. Basically what happens it that when I'm trying to play music on Winamp, all I get is some crackling noises and a very feint noise of the song playing in the background. When trying to play a podcast in Beyondpod, I just get no audio at all. These things do work when playing out of my speaker, however.
I am on Jokersax CM9 v 0.6.1. I don't have enough posts to post in that forum to see if it was related to that ROM or not, but I don't believe it was.
I'm guessing this is a hardware issues and may not be able to be fixed but I wanted to see if you guys had some ideas first.
Thanks!
what gives you the idea it may be a hardware issue? Have you tried cleaning out the headphone jack with say a can of air?
you can buy a new back cover / chassis housing / speaker / antennae / audio jack for cheap on ebay, and it replaces pretty easy, the actual audio jack cable to the motherboard is a bit more involved of a replacement but it can be done also, there are youtube guides on replacing digitizers and that process gets you all the way to the volume / audio jack / camera cable.
I had this same issue once. There was a very tiny piece of paper/pocket lint shoved into the bottom of the jack. Find the smallest tweezers you can or use a paperclip and some patience to remove it if you find anything.
Have you tried using different earphones?
Try switching to CM7, when I was on CM9 my earphones were glitchy also. They would randomly stop playing, sometimes every minute sometimes every 10 minutes.
If it doesn't work try doing what the guy above me said. Try his first, it seems the easiest haha

[Q] Right Side Audio Over Amplified

Good morning everyone. In advance I would like to thank everyone for their assistance.
Working with:
Galaxy Player 4.0 (YP-G1)
Firmware 2.3.5
Rooted - after the problem started, to allow access to system files.
Stock ROM
All apps up to date. No new apps installed between AM and PM commute (problem started during PM commute from work).
Problem affects built-in speaker and headphone output.
After a lot of testing, the problem is actually isolated to just one of the speakers/earphones (on the player it is the bottom one, in normal portrait mode and the right earphone, so I'm calling the right audio). If I cover the right speaker and turn up the volume the left speaker sounds normal.
So I've decided that the right side audio is over amplified or modulated, even at low volume it sounds like it is turned up to 11.
Here is the long version, if you want all the gory details - I figure more info is better. Right?
I mostly use my GP4 to listen to podcasts during my commute and it has been working great since I've had it (about 4 months), but 2 days ago that all changed. On my way home I fired up Pocket Casts to continue listening to a podcast (EscapePod) and it sounded like crap. By crap I mean very distorted and loud - even at low volume - like a cheap stereo cranked all the way up. At first I thought maybe it was a problem with the podcast, that was not the case, they all had the problem. OK, so is it Pocket Casts... Nope, every audio app (stock music player and ones from the market - installed WinAmp, PowerAmp, others to test) has the same problem. Alarm sounds have the problem. Reboot... Problem persists.
More diagnosing - one app/component does not seem to suffer from the problem, the FM radio. I also seems to have it's own volume - FM Volume.
I found this post in the forums - - but apparently the srs_processing.cfg file is not on this device. I assume it is because Samsung uses their own SoundAlive processor.
I have tried various audio control apps, but none seem to allow control of the balance. I tried PowerAmp media player which does have a balance control, but its balance control has no effect.
Again, thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds to me like an actual hardware issue. The 1/8" headphone jack and the main speakers are hard linked together. This can happen when a bad/physically distorted 1/8 male jack is inserted or a good one is awkwardly removed/inserted or hit while in place. Essentially the impedance value for your affected channel is disrupted from that particular contact inside being bent or contacting another component inside the device. This happens on PA sound boards often.
Assume you're not under warranty still? I'd call samsung and see what they are willing to do for you. More than likely they will fix it regardless of warranty state - they are good like that, or replace it if you are under warranty. You will need to return to stock unrooted though.

annoyingduck, You rock!!
I have had a headphones in and out many times during testing and nothing had ever changed. After reading your comment I plugged in some headphones, gave a gentle yet firm little jiggle of the plug and voila everything is back to normal!
I plug the GP4 into an aux in port in the car, so when it must of gotten a little tweaked when I unplugged it earlier in the day.
My thanks to you again, annoyingduck. Iwas driving me crazy having to listen to commercial radio - LOL

Nice, glad it worked out. Just be careful wiggling that jack, it eventually will losen to an unusable point. Also, try to use true 1/8 connectors, the metric variants which are advertised as being fully compatible are actually slight undersized and can cause a bad connection (Samsung's actual headphones are not true 1/8 jacks!?!).
All quality brand name cables have true 1/8 ends (monster, Dayton, proco, etc)

I will heed your advice. The cable I currently use is a little short, so I am going to buy a good quality and longer one.
Thanks again.

Resolved...
I contacted Samsung support and they had me go thru the normal scripted troubleshooting (reset to Factory Defaults and see if the problem persists - it did of course - thank goodness for root and Titanium Backup :good: ). Any way, it was still under warranty so I was able to send the SGP 4.0 in for repair. The turnaround was quick (about a week, including shipping) and service/shipping was free.
FYI - Parts replaced:
GM59-01038A - Module-Speaker Upper
GM82-01007A - A/S Assy-PBA Main
Thanks for the help.

[Q] Headphone jack emitting crackling sound

The headphone jack on my Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 (android 4.3) recently stopped playing music and playing a crackling sound instead. This crackling sound is in time with the music and if you turn it up kind of loud you can hear the music a little in the background. :crying:
When it stopped it was completely random- I was listening to music and when the next song started I couldn't hear anything, only the crackling when the volume was turned up loud enough.
It's not the headphones, because I have tried various different pairs which work perfectly fine on other devices. The speaker still works fine too.
I'm not sure of the reason... I did drop my phone into the toilet about 7 months ago and once more about 3 months ago, but this problem only appeared now. Can dropping your phone in water cause problems that long after the event?
Or it might be because I got my phone repaired yesterday? I had the microphone and the glass/touch buttons replaced, so I'm not sure if when that was replaced they knocked the headphone jack or something, but for about one day after getting that repaired the headphone jack worked fine.
Are there any things I could do to fix this problem? Or do I have to take it back to get fixed? And, if I do need it fixed at a repair shop, around how much will it cost? I've had a lot of problems with this phone and I'm just wondering if I should get a new one. My phone is out of warranty, and I'm not on a contract or plan anymore, so I can't just get a new one.
Take it back its probably hardware .
Or try factory reset.
