Question on Jelly Bean Phone Storage and internal SD card - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a MTK based phone (Star 7189/Alps v89_jbl1a668_fwvga) running 4.2.1 with 1G phone storage, 2G internal SD card and an external 16G SD card.
Even though most of my apps are actually located on the external SD card, I am still down to only 60M free on phone storage. The internal SD on the other hand is practically empty.
Is there no way to mount the internal SD card on /data thus increasing internal phone storage for apps etc?
Thanks for any suggestions!

[Q] Android file system with SD vs no SD

I'm coming from a phone with very low internal memory to one with 16GB. My question is around all the app data and where it would go in a phone with 16gb internal memory and not SD card.
Reason I ask is I would love to have all my apps stored internally and use my SD card mostly for music/pics..
Would this work or will apps put data in the SD if one is present.
another question would be what would happen if I have no SD card for a while, then I introduce the SD card..
All the data would be kept on the internal storage, which would be seen as a internal memory stick. If you put a microSD card in then it will store some data on the SD card but you could move it back by going to settings>applications>manage applications>on sd card

SD & Phone Storage ?

SD card you can put music, apps, pics etc.But i see two other storage Phone storage total space 10.48GB available 10.45GB and Internal storage available 1.9GB.Whats the difference between phone and internal storage.
I believe the smaller partition is the system partition. The larger is considered the sd card. Then there's the external sd card which is what you mentioned as being for music etc...

[Q] Merging phone storage and internal sd

Hello,
I recently bought a Lenovo A820 and am currently using LambdaROM 2.3.5a. My phone has 4GB of internal space and I have a 8GB microSD card in it as well. My internal storage is running low, but my internal sd card is empty and cannot be used, because I've all things on the external sd. Is there anyway to merge the internal sd card with the internal phone storage? I've searched long and hard already, but found no concrete information. I know I can swap memories and even link my sd card to the phone storage. But my internal storage is 4GB which only 2GB are being used for the phone storage and 2GB are partitioned to the internal sd card. I would like to merge them into the internal phone storage, if possible. My question is: is it possible? If so, how can I do it?
Thank you.

Hi
You cannot merge virtual internal SD and physical external SD into one volume.
However you can probably swap it - which should solve all of your problems.
Your phone has MTK6589 chip, so the process will be similar as on my Snopow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777140
After the swap external SD will be visible as internal SD and the other way round. That means you can buy 64GB SD card and have all this space available for installing apps because phone will see this card as internal storage.

Marshmallow Using SD SD Card as Internal Storage

IF I use a SD Card formatted as Internal Storage on Marshmallow.
Is there any way I can still acesss the inbuilt internal storage.
I have a 16Gb tablet I want to use an SDcard but don't want to lose access to the internal memory.
So am avoiding Marshmallow at the moment

Internal SD card not detected

Internal SD card not detected in rooted Micromax A116 flashed with stock rom 4.2.1 from 4.1.2. After swapping External SD as Internal SD by editing vold.fstab with ES file explorer. In settings>storage> it shows Phone storage/0.98Gb (RAM), External SD card 7.96Gb and the Internal SD card 1.77Gb. However Internal SD card is not selectable/detected . When I again switch back by re-eiditng back the same appears in reverse order i.e now External SD card is not selectable /detected. Help as most of the useful apps which cant be moved to Ext. SD are in the Internal SD but that hardly has any space.
