[Q] Sound Quality - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
So I recieved an international Galaxy S3 (i9300), and the sound quality is.. not so good, at least with my PX200-II, compared to my iPod Touch 2nd gen. Even with Neutron Player.
Now, as far as I know you can improve the sound quality with different kernels, ROMs and mods. I'd be happy to get recommendations as to how I can improve the sound quality and what I should do.
Thanks in advance
Edit: By the way, I'm on everything stock 4.1.2

You start in the basic faqs and guides and read .
The sound quality thread for starters .
Search XDA sound quality.

Thanks for the reply, but still, any recommendations?

Not from me sorry .

How to improve the audio quality?

Hey guys. I own a Samsung Galaxy S II and is currently running Resurrection Remix on it. I so cool rom, however I would very much like to improve the audio quality so I can hear better. Is there any way to tweak the quality? It is very important to me, since I have some hearing loss :-(

If you're running resurrection, try changing settings in dsp manager. You can select headphones, bluetooth and speaker settings and tweak different things there. Might help if you're using bluetooth / headphones.. Hope it helps!
Try a Music Player off the Play Store, PowerAmp is a good choice. Many different tweaks such as bass, treble, increased volume booster. Also try a different pair of headphones, maybe in ear ones that can produce a better quality sound than say open backed over ear headphones.

Hey guys
Thanks for your answer, but I'm talking about the call quality when speaking with others thru my phone
no help there? :/
Try the KH3 modem. It seems to be the best samsung could come up with. Has better call clarity and faster gps fix, does not heat up the phone compared to other modems.
You should really state what you are actually looking for in your first post. It could have meant audio quality out of the phones speaker, audio quality through headphones, or in your case, audio quality when speaking to somebody.
Anyway, as suggested, try a different modem. Here is a link to a thread with all modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
Modems work across all OS's so don't worry about matching them. I use the Baseband I9100NELP2, but what is good for me mightn't be good for you. The idea of modems is to test them for better signal, call quality, GPS, download speeds etc.

Jelly Bean Sound Quality on recorded videos - better than ICS?

I haven't had a chance to try the leaked jelly bean for S3 yet, but i think i saw something about the sound recording on videos being improved?
Can anyone give some more details on whats improved, does it fix the lack of bass in the recorded videos? I really want to record some good video and sound at a club night i am going to but tempted to bring my galaxy s1 lol.... which seems silly!
Thanks
Quickly rush out and buy a Nokia 808 Pureview
I spent many an hour deciding between that and SGS3. Latter won on availability.

OMG it is better the sound aint thin i love my samsung galaxy s3 yay, Samsung got something right..
In the 2nd leak it was improved but in the third leak it totally wrong.. which suggests Sammy is busy making things better. So you can expect the audio quality to be better in the final release.

It won't be long now to find out, on stock Jelly Bean 4.1 early as next week.

From what most people say, that "OTA" is just to keep people silent and tell them it's coming, it isn't done yet.
Wait for the actual full release this month.

So any test with any of the latest 4.1.1 roms ? u guys hear any video sound difference ?
I went to a concert last night and had to record a test video to see the quality of the sound.
The sound quality is def improved compared to ICS, although it still could pick up more bass. But I was almost blown away when I realized there wasn't barely any distortion at all. It was REALLY loud, still has some minor ringing in my ears.

thx, yeah could still need sum tweaking ^^. But I remember sum vids from motnhs ago where ppl had like No sound at lass but noise a concert... so at least a lil improvement

[Q] Is there any way/mod to fix the audio distortion? (loud environment)

I'm coming from an iphone 4s and i find my s3 is much better, but it fails A LOT on the audio/video recording..
on the iphone it was pretty smooth, even in concerts with super bass and etc, great audio..
but in the s3 i can't hear any sound, just a lot of distortion and noise, even in my voice, i need to speak low when recording something.. too sad..
searched in here but i couldnt find any conclusive method/mod.. only people saying its some driver/codec/software problem, not with the mic or sound board (the s3 soundboard is great)..
I'm using CM10 (4.1.2) in my S3 and Siyah kernel..
is there any working mod to fix this problem? would make me very happy, i do a lot of videos..
thanks!
bump..
Yeah i use custom sammy rom sounds alot better and clearer

theres no another mod with no need of changing the rom?
this audio issue makes me really sad

[Q] Sound quality on AOSP

I've read somewhere that AOSP offers worse sound quality than Sammy ROMs.
Something about AOSP not having access to Samsung drivers, which is the general argument people give for camera quality comparisons as well. The sound chip is from Wolfson, not Samsung though, so wouldn't that mean the sound would remain the same?
My question is not about the volume being low, or using equalizers, but on overall audio quality and fidelity when listening to music (eg.). Is there an audible difference between the ROMs or do they play back the same?

Why would you use those on a cellphone though?
Other than that, I have personally not seen any difference in sound quality. I have however noticed a slight buzzing sound when you have a high level of volume and a system sound is reproduced. Since system sounds usually have about a 3-second playback time and only half of that is the actual sound, I can hear some of the 'static'. Doesn't bother me too much.
Well, thanks for the reply anyhow

Use latest supported boeffla kernel (CM or Omni- depends on used rom), download Boeffla Config V2, go to sound engine, enable orchis audiophile and prepare to be amazed (or do your own tunning)
