Good for Enterprise after flashing new rom - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

There wouldn't be any reason that I would have issues setting up my corp email using Good after flashing a new ROM would there? Just wanting to make sure before I lose access while I am away from work for a bit.

Anyone?

Well, that depends on what checking Good is doing.
My company enforces a policy with Good that checks if the device is rooted (has su/Superuser/SuperSU installed), and checks that you have PIN unlock enabled. If you're running a custom ROM, it may not work with Good.
(That's why my Galaxy Tab 2 is stock/unrooted, so I can use Good).

i flashed and good still works for me. i work at a very lax company, so im guessing they don't imply a no root policy....thats the only thing you have to worry about, besides that rooting doesn't seem to affect it

Need help with how to get TB to wifi tether

Hi I'm new to Android. I just recently AOL'ed a VZW plan. It has unlimited data, switched from AT&T.
I was given a TB by my brother, got a sim and it's now activated.
I want to be able to tether and downloaded foxfi and PDA net and they both don't support HTC devices. I want to be able to tether on our iPads when we travel.
I see that with foxfi and PDA net you can tether via Bluetooth. I'm not sure what or how this would work if we are out and about.
Is there a way to get my TB the ability to wifi tether?
I'm pretty sure sharing your androids internet with an apple device is a sin. Repent now!

You need to root the phone so that you can use wireless tether from the market. It's easier to setup than pdanet and works a lot better.

Not a Mac user, but here are two good starting points:
How to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220484
Easiest way to root, using trter10's one-click rooting tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703455
Once rooted you will open the phone to all sorts of performance and customization opportunities including free wifi tethering. Depending on the custom ROM you choose to go with, wifi tethering may come included in the ROM (eg. it does in Thundershed). If not, there are a few good ones in the Play Store, eg Wifi Tether, Barnacle, and Open Garden. All will work, and all are free. I had most success and best performance with Wifi Tether, but YMMV as every device seems to work a little differently.
Good luck!

Having a mac and rooting the Thunderbolt is a pain in the ass. I did it the hard way and that was to either have bootcamp installed with a windows partition. Or run Parrallel's virtual machine with a windows partition and run the all-in-one-tool. Running the All in one tool is the easiest way to root your phone setting up your system to run the tool is the pain in the ass part.

If it has CWM then chances are it either was, or still is rooted. Can you reboot into the OS on the phone, or can you only get to CWM? If you can get into the OS normally, check to see if Superuser is installed.

Apparently even though you're rooted, the system folder cannot be overwritten which is where the host file is located. I've noticed a few "root" apps don't work properly because of this. Not sure how to fix this......

If you are rooted you can't get OTA's anyway. Look in the main HTC One forums, the kernels there have steps you can follow to install them.

I know I can't get OTA's, but I meant just flashing an updated ROM. Also what does modifying kernels affect? Data loss? Feature loss? Please let me know. Most importantly I do not want to lose WiFi Calling.

Get the ROM I linked, you still get all the features of the stock ROM and way better performance and batterylife, and you still get WiFi Calling on the phone. I love the ROM and it has the camera and GPS fixes that T mobile hasn't given us yet.
yeap what he said. most of the international roms are bug free and lean as **** now. almost all of them have setups for ATT/TMO/international. (sorry sprint you got ****ed)
i'm on ordroid 4.2.0 and se7en kernel. and everything works fine. the nice thing about the international roms are they are rebased on the international 1.29 version of the rom that HTC has already pushed out. But since carriers love to push bloatware and test the roms to make sure they dont break the phones it will take a while before TMO or even ATT to have the 1.29 version of the roms out.

The ROM comes with the new Kernel, you have to reset your phone though when coming from the stock ROM. All you need to do is flash the ROM off his thread and it contains everything you need, no need to flash anything else.

I also rooted my phone and opted to keep everything stock. But I knew I'd have to flash a new kernel, so I flashed this:

So far, it's been fantastic, and WiFi calling still works! Some added features are menulogo, and swipe to wake up. This way I get to keep everything stock with all the added benefits of root.

Unfortunately theres no going back once excepting a OTA update. MDK is the only version with custom recovery. Hopefully Hash will crack a safestrap method but even if he does you'll probably still need a 4.3 Stock kernel. Have you tried a factory reset? Might solve your wifi issues.

Well there is root exploit, but no custom recovery. So flashing anything isn't possible ATM to even change radios. Also, Samsung is locking everything down with Knox making it more difficult. Hopefully a 4.4 stock leak will save us with bootloader hacks. Trying to be optimistic

If that doesn't fix it you could tell Verizon you tried everything and it should be covered by your warranty for a new replacement.

Factory reset is the only thing I have not tried.

Does that make any difference with flashing an older radio ?

No, unfortunately. The bootloader needs to be unlocked or exploited in some way for you to be able to get a custom recovery to flash something. No one's been able to crack the firmware for months now, much less 4.3 which just came out.

To keep them from upgrading you to an even later version that might not be vulnerable to whatever exploit they will eventually discover. (I have a PSP with a version that everyone said was unrootable yet here it is.. playing roms)

OP, you never said what the wifi issues actually are. A zillion people are on 4.3/MK7 and doing fine with everything.
People do that all the time here and in other forums in other aspects of life. They have a problem, think of the only solution they can imagine, then ask for help implementing it. A better question is can I get help/ideas to correct the original problem.
My apologies, your right. I went back and read my OP. I didn't say what my issues are.
Well, my employer privides an open WiFi for the office. The signal is not extremely strong but it's fair. Signal strength does dip up and down a little.
So while on 4.2, my phone stayed connected to the WiFi. Never disconnected. Once I upgraded to 4.3, it will not stay connected. It constantly drops the signal, scans, sees the signal but won't reconnect. I have to manually force it to connect.
As soon as I sit the phone down and it sleeps, it disconnects again and the process starts over.
The constant scanning is draining my battery fairly quickly.

Ive had this problem ever since verizon updated me to 4.3
Im wanting to root my phone and install a custom rom and move it to straight talk but how can i safely do anything when my pc hardly ever recognizes my phone?
Ive tried the usb that came with my note 2, tried 2 other usb cables that came with s3's
Tried every usb port on the computer
tried uninstalling keis
uninstalling samsung driver
reinstalling driver
reinstalling keis
rebooting while plugged in
nothing works.
My pc recognizes every other phone i plug into it.... im so fedup with this.
Any ideas?
A couple basic questions. Have you tried a separate PC? Do you have USB debugging enabled? Do you get any indication of your phone being charged when plugged into a port? Can you plug into a wall fine? Lastly what are you planning to do transfer files etc?

Look around some of the threads I remember a few people conforming a couple root methods. Too tired to go thread searching right now though. Removing bloat with just root works alright but you have to be more careful than someone who is unlocked would have to be. As for selling I can't fine much insight on that unfortunately.

Disabling Super SU and OEM Unlock checkboxes let me add my card without restart but it will not work at checkout even with restart. It beeps but gives me an error that says something about not being able to verify security or something.
Any ideas?
I have LG-H901 (T-Mobile V10), bootloader unlocked, rooted w/ TWRP and Super SU installed. Factory ROM has not been changed. Only other changes is using Ti Backup to uninstall bloatware including T-Mobile My Account and com.tmobile.pr.adapt.
Or, could I set-up my stock ROM the way I want it, then unroot so I can use AP?
I've already deleted all the bloatware and everything is working really well. I dont see a reason to stay rooted all the time.

Yes you only need root at all times if you want xposed and use greenify, servicely ect.. But if you just wanted to debloat then it is not necessary to keep root... Unroot with SuoerSU, uncheck OEM unlock and reboot... That should fix you up...
Not every reader is active though... Try places that you know have previously worked with Android Pay

Yes, that's why I had suggested going somewhere you are 100 percent positive it works. It verified the security too add the card, so go to McDonald's, somewhere you know with confidence it works.. It may be the terminal you tried to use it at
Edit* only thing you could try next is relock the bootloader, unchecking OEM doesn't relock the bootloader

Thanks. I did use it at a terminal I had used successfully with AP before. I wonder how long we have to wait for 6.0...

I know I can't find any information on it as well. This phone is like a ghost, it exists, but the carrier doesn't treat it like that, no marshmallow information like the G4

Yup, the V10 is a very unique device. It doesnt show up in the recognized devices in the TWRP app either. I never thought I would find a phone I liked better than my G3 and now I feel like the V10 makes it look like a cheap little toy. The V10 is such a beautiful, powerful and somewhat enigmatic device imho

Yea I agree, which is why it is weird to me that it gets treated like it does not exist

It's sort of a trade-off. On one hand there is less support. On the other, our device is more unique and sexy
