S4 camera app availability on S2? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I read that the camera app from the s4 only works under the 4.2.2 framework, is this still the case or is there now an apk or flash file for the s2?
I'm after/interested in the functionality of 'sound and shot'.

Link for this pls and I'll read the thread for you
Edit do you mean s4 google edition cam and gallery? Yea that works on 4.1.2 stock based roms.

I downloaded the s4 google gallery n camera apk it works with 4.1.2 as you mentioned, however what I am after is the 'sound and shot' feature from the s4 camera (options), which this apk doesn't include/feature.
Just thought I'd enquire about it as the article I read said it wouldn't be available given it's only for 4.2.2 framework, I had hoped someone had modded it for lower android versions.

I think that for that "stock galaxy s4 camera" you need to have 4.2.2 rom by Samsung since this app needs toucwiz framework but im ont sure on that

Yep all I've read says the same.
I did find an app that works similar to sound and shot but its pants.
I'll wait to see if anyone can mod it for s2 later

If you try this, be sure to back your current camera.apk (and odex if it exists) up before you do.

Please advise if this works I would also like stock ics camera

UtI tried it went to install but it wouldent install probably because its direct from the nexus I had to go back to the slow shutter stock cam but we still have 8mp lol
I was under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that the no shutter lag was hardware related as well as software. My S2 has 4.0.3 and still delays when I take a picture.

Presume as ICS was beta its failed the acceptance for ICS official release .
Rip camera out of a beta ICS or via Titanium backup and see if it works .
jje
where should i rip the camera from since no SGS2 ics has the "real new" camera??

Beg your pardon i thought you where taking about a real camera in the beta builds not one from a picture show . You need to ask Samsung about that .
jje
It could have been an app :-$
Or even ICS on another device other than the gs2.
Does the camera a built in panoramic setting like the galaxy Nexus advert?

no. google promoted this as ics built in.
look an example video :

Google ICS built-in is not the same as Samsung Touchwiz modded ICS built-in, that camera app may exist on AOSP or other devices, the Samsung release uses the touchwiz camera unfortunately.
That vid is hilarious!
Anyway of getting the ICS camera on top of Samsung TW?

Not that I'm aware of as yet, doesn't mean there won't be at some point in the possibly near future.

[REQ] Porting stock camera.apk to AOSP based ROMs

Firstly i would like to thank developers for porting the stock Samsung Task Manager and the Memo app to make it works on AOSP based roms.
Here's another small request: Can anyone port the stock camera.apk and music player by samsung? I can provide the stock samsung camera and music player apk.
Thanks a million.

4.2.2 JB ROMs and camera bugs

I have tried many of the 4.2.2 ROMs on here and they all have the same bug with the camera touch to focus whilst using flash.
Is this something that is inherent in all the 4.2.2 custom ROMs.
Or are there any that the camera flash works properly on
Thanks
Garry

So, if you want a solution to the camera stuff and if you can survive without 1080p recording, flash the huawei camera app.
download Gallery ICS from the playstore and move it to system/app.
Delete the Gallery2.apk from system/app.
70% of a solution.
Is 4.2.2 a finished release or just a leaked test beta ???
jje
I think its a CM 10 ground up development and not based on any samsung release or leak
4.2.2 is whats stock on my nexus 7.
The 4.2.2 roms work great on my sg3. Apart from the camera which i use alot having a little one.
Im now using android revoloution Hd based on stock 4.2.1 which brilliant. But I miss the look and feel of 4.2.2

[Q] Galaxy s3 4.3 camera apk

I tried to instal a modded camera app to my phone now it keeps crashing.
Could someone point in the direction of the stock 4.3 camera.apk for Galaxy S3 or even a modded one that doesnt disable flash after 15% remaining battery.
thanks

You can disable it by using WanamXposed, unrelated to the camera app you're using.
Anyway, this one works great: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512148
