Odin from new update to prior ota - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is it possible to get back to the prior update/ota after updating to the newest Verizon ota GS4?
Possible to Odin back to a prior release?

No, the bootloader update is locked so you cannot go backwards at all. That's VZW's way of saying "we love our customers" :good:

Buddy of mine didn't know better. So I wanted to check for him. He will have to wait...

I only have 3 root friends in real life. 2 of them will fight it till it works even if they don't know exactly what they are doing. The other one, is buying a windows phone next upgrade because he had a poor experience(because he bought the htc one x instead of the galaxy s3..)

OTA (not RUU) Available for 3.14.605.12?

We have 3 Rezounds... two of them are not rooted so I am looking for a way to get ahold of the OTA so that they can be updated without losing data. Anyone have any suggestions? The goal is to get them back into a state that they will receive future OTA's also.

they shouldnt lose data when you update with the OTA. if you noticed, it is about 300mb, bc it only updates stuff it must and leaves as much data as possible.
hope this helps
PS this doesnt belong in the development section. is more of Q&A

My apologies, I thought I mentioned that in the OP. Yes, I am on what was, until recently, the most recent leak on all 3 phones.

As far as I know, the only way to install the official OTA and not lose all your data is to be on stock GB. You can RUU back to GB to accept the OTA but that'll wipe your data and you also need to be s-off to RUU back to GB. Other than that you can just run the 3.14.605.12 RUU (ICS OTA) and you'll be up to date (for the time being).
Which update do you mean? You're on the ics update already... If you're meaning the newest that adds global it's probably still a soak test. It will come eventually as long as the phones are stock

Don't think that's possible. The OTA is a diff file based on the last official Gingerbread. You have to be on that release with a locked bootloader and stock recovery to use it.

You mean the .10 leak before the OTA? I'm pretty sure your only option is to relock (if you are unlocked) and run the RUU. I am in the same boat. I got tired of waiting and ran the RUU of the .10 leak. Still on it. I really don't want to wipe the phone again, but I might have to. I do believe this is the only way. It was one of the warnings to installing the leak. I took the chance, and I don't regret it. There is nothing wrong with the .10 leak.

[Q] Alternate way to unlock bootloader

Im i desperate need of a way to unlock the bootloader on my note 2 n7105. I cant use the suck it verizon method as I get the system software not authorized error before I can finish. Please help.
Sure, Adam just released the "new" Back Atcha Verizon jailbreak this morning. Works like a charm. Have a look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118348

4.2 update soon?

Saw this bad boy when I was looking for a phone to upgrade...
Coincidence or?
Discuss.
I'm guessing this is on the official Tmobile site? I'm on edge right now so I'm not even going to attempt to look lol. If it's not a typo, I'd say the chances of getting 4.3 just got better.

Very cool.
Doubtful, international L9 would get 4.2 before T-Mobile would since it wont need carrier additions and LG would be the only one able to do the port. The P769 is near its end of life, I doubt we will get another update. This just seems like a mistype.

I saw that too. I just thought they mistyped 4.2 in place of 4.1.2
hate to be a party pooper but who cares? people always pining for the latest android.. half the changes are for tablets and multiple user accounts. we're better off focusing on easier bootloader unlock and more rom/kernel variety. i'd rather have a GB rom available than the bleeding edge android. to each their own i guess :highfive:

Note 3 rom for note 2?

Any devs thinking of the possibility to make things with the new note 3 such as, the spen features work(ACTION MEMO, SCRAPBOOK,ETC) on our older note2's? It looks like the snote refresh is more user friendly to everyday actions. The rest is still ok, for me anyway. But I would rather donate than spend $700 for a new phone. Thoughts?
Or just wait for the update that should give us these features as well

Yes, although it'd be best just to flash the 4.3 stock ROM that our devs release, when it becomes available, so you'll stay unlocked and rooted because they may not be able to unlock any new updates.

Or you could always try out one of the AOSP Kitkat ROMs, available in the original development section. They're pretty darn stable, and can certainly be used as DDs.

If you read this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601067, the 4.4.2 leak is for the international S4 ONLY, not any of the North American variants yet.
Your S4 is probably soft-bricked right now, which is nobody's fault but your own.

Sounds quite reasonable.
Following Samsung OTA's for a long time across 3 phones and almost 6 years.. seems they connect some of the major OTAs to release of new product. Since the S5 is getting close could it be tied to that event? Betting Verizon's S5 won't be first on the release list for US carriers either.
OTA of 4.4 for the S4 prior to the S5 release just doesn't sound like a starter. It would be a nice surprise though....

You could always run an INT 4.4 ROM that has the boot loader removed and Loki-Doki the thing. I am running 4.4.2 A TW ROM on my S4
