Ok, since I am not allowed to post in the dev section, might as well ask here.
I was trying to flash the Carbon (unofficial) rom for Xperia 2011 devices http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337174. At that time I was running on CM10 & nAa 3.4.45 kernel, my phone is Sony Ericsson Live (build .587).
First, I had the "Status 7 error" while installing, after removing the the first three lines of update-script , that fixed it for others, but not for me. The installation still failed but this time no status shown.
I removed the boot.img from the zip file as suggested & also changed the updater-script provided by another dev in the thread, no dice.
I reverted to stock for now....but I'm curious as to know what I did wrong. Carbon rom & another rom (Cyanogenmod Timespace) are two roms I cann't seem to flash. But others seem to be doing fine.
You can try installing the rom without wiping system, then you won't get the status 7 error and you don't have to delete the lines
If that's not working open the zip again, delete the three lines using notepad++ (or scite on linux), save it and repack the zip using 7zip with the default settings
Hmmm...."status 7 error" doesn't mean that the installing the ROMs is a failure...since the ROMs are made for Mango, did you flash the dev files for LWW after you have flash the ROMs???? flash dev files is important for your LWW...without it then you phone will get bootloop....

Well, I couldn't flash the rom, not even once. Every time I tried there was an error, like I said, I was able to get rid of the status 7 error using the script another guy provided, but the installation was a failure nonetheless. Only this time, there was no reason shown. It just said, installation aborted.

Already did that, but still cannot install. But yes, it didn't show "Status 7" that time.

Hmmm...you misunderstand my point....even if the "status 7 error" came up, doesn't mean that you fail to install the ROMs...some ROMs has "status 7 error" came up while installing but still the ROMs install is successful...
try installing the ROMs without modified the scripts then flash the dev files after it...don't boot between both flashing....if your phone will got bootloop then make sure you use the right kernel for the ROMs....

mmm....stuck in bootloop yet again. This is getting tiresome. Well, let's see what can be done.
Another thing, I had CWM 5 installed, but the nAa kernel had a CWM 6 (I think), so during bootloop....at times they just toss me from one version of the mod to other. Does what I said made any sense?!!
Ok, got it to work! (I don't know what I did though). But my internet is down. I have this same problem in all CM build roms, is this a problem in general?

Hmmm...what do you mean "my internet is down"??? 2G+3G internet or wifi??? both work fine on my phone....if 2G+3G then download the setting from your services provider the proper setting....some APN setting in CM build is outdated...

Let's begin with saying that i have changed a few ROMs and i know the basics of installing them. I'm no pro but i can install them.
The problem began when i wanted to upgrade my litening ROM. Before this i installed like ~6 different roms and i never had problems installing them. Since i tried last time it looks like whatever i do no rom can be installed on my phone anymore, except litening 3.2/3.4 but the problem with them is that any app i restore with titanium backup they just don't work. They open.. stay like that and then it gives me an error or simply exits. After that i tried installing ~4-5 roms but 1 bricked my phone.. i managed to get back on feet... ~3 others gave me that 'aborted' error when started installing.. etc.. What happened to my phone? Or what should i do to be able to install other roms? Now i just have the litening 3.4 with no apps.. only contacts.
Try to install a stock rom with odin first and then try to custom roms.

Open the zip file from your computer. 'aborted' error usually caused by corrupted incomplete zip so you should get an error by simply opening the zip file. If it did not give you any error what so ever, flash the resurrection edition of CM9 via Odin.

PS: all the archives of ROMs work. so the abortion is not from an incomplete file.

Does the abort say something about status 7? Or any other status? Or any other detail at all????

You can try to Backup first everything and do a factory reset of the phone. After wards install stock ROM first then root using CF root kernel then do full wipe.

remember that cm9 doesn't support tb which could possibly cause the issue since you use it to restore apps. almost all roms are using cm9 framework which also means tb might not work. i suggest you keep ur apks and data on pc and manually reinstall them instead of using tb.

I have had many phones and never had as much trouble than this phone is giving me. Every rom that does work when I flash them don't have any wifi or service. Even when I install gapps it is like it skips the setup and goes straight to the home screen.
I just came from a bionic and didn't think it would be much of a change to make this phone run like my bionic did. I have tried recreating rom slots with fresh installs and wipes on several roms, most of them cm10 based and even liquid smooth wont even install which is the rom I love the most. I have looked for several fixes but nothing seems to be working.
Is there something I am missing? Do you have to unlock the bootloader on this thing or something? Any help would be appreciated.

Wifi usually fixes itself after reboot, but for no-service I dont know.. Are you flashing correct version for your Razr (xt910/xt912), or flashing GSM patch if you have xt912 on GSM network?
Not to be redundant, but how ARE you flashing the ROMs? I've never had issues with connections (so long as I am using the applicable google apps, I have had to revert to a release or two earlier for proper operation in the past). I wouldn't recommend flashing ROMs via RSDlite, if that's the route you're taking. BMM and Safestrap (The latter can be achieved with Matt's Utility, it's what I use) are better options. Using a different partition on the internal storage, and retaining Stock rom. I never had any issues with Avatar (CM10.1 based). I'm about to try out AOKP. Good luck.

Well I have been using safestrap since I used it on my Bionic and I am already familiar with it. The one that is bugging me the most is not being able to flash LiquidSmooth 2.9. (I am on SS 3.53 btw) Also I am using the XT912 and already researched the difference between 910 ROMS before flashing.
When I try to install it the error comes up saying:
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Warning: no file_contexts

E: error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard-ext/Liquid-JB-v2.9-OFFICIAL-spyder.zip

I just wonder, if that thing is saying that the zip is meant to be an update for an existing version of LiquidSmooth. But on goo.im there is only 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9.
I've never seen that error (but I've been wanting to try LiquidSmooth, maybe I can duplicate the problem). I know with AOKP, I have to install on romslot2. For whatever reason. Have you tried any other slots besides 1?

The installation instruction for LiquidSmooth 2.9 say to install on RomSlot3, and only RomSlot3. I'll give it a whirl on 1 and see if the error is duplicated, but it shouldn't effect the install, regardless of the slot #.

Installed on Slot 1 without errors. Flashed gapps, wiped cache, restarted- wouldn't boot.
Wiped and deleted Slot 1
Installed on Slot 3 without errors. Flashed gapps, wiped cache, restarted- Success!
I never could duplicate the error you had, using the JB Liquid Smooth I got from goo.im
Also, for what it's worth, in the "Issues" category on the LS link from above, it said there was an autofix that would correct the wifi connectivity problem. Mine would never fully turn on wifi on first boot. Rebooted, worked perfectly. And the CM style setup went off without a hitch.
I also used goo.im to get mine. I tried all three versions of it but no success; all three got the same error code. I am wondering if the version of safestrap I am using is causing the error.

Just threw out the version 3.5x of SS I was using. Going to try 3.11 and see how it goes. Man, I hope this works, I just came back from using an iPhone for the last two months after letting my brother have my Bionic because they couldn't flash the iPhone on his service provider. I guess if it doesn't work I will be happy having android back nonetheless. Just want something other than motoblur.

So I scrapped 3.5x for 3.11 and the install went perfectly normal. Accidentally installed the wrong gapps package and had a force close assault from hell. Redid it with the right gapps and everything is up and running now. I am so glad to have it running and ready to set up now. Thanks for your help guys!
I'm very frustrated with my player, I rooted it last year and flashed Pacrom venturi 2013-11-05 JB and sultan kernel, cwm 6.0.4.4, it wasn't easy it took me like 6 hours with lots of problems but at the end it was done. Now I tried to update it to KK and I've been trying for days. The first rom I tried was Pacrom venturi 20140407 with cwm 6.0.4.4 and I think sultan kernel and I had no problems except the wifi didn't work so I didn't backup and tried to flash it again but it didn't work because status 0 and status 7 and I tried several times to no vail so I downloaded one by one all the nightlys from April some of March, some from January, the one that used to work in from november, so I tried 4.4 - 4.3- 4.2.2 - 4.2 -4.1, pacrom, slimkat, cm, beanstalk, sultan kernel, Mercurius v5, Mercurius reborn, CM kernel, KKernel, CWM 6.0.4.4, 6.0.4.3, 5.0.2.7 and non worked. I've tried flashing it like 200 times of those, maybe like 5 times was successful but as soon I flash the kernel and then restart the screen its black nothing appears, I tried the build from july and the keyboard keep on crashing, so this is some of the thing that I've experienced

I'm on stock and love my YP-G70, everything just works and I can customize it as I like. Except for the times I load too many widgets I have no problems. I see NO reason to change to ROMs with less functionallity and lots of problems. 2.3 is THE most stable and most used version of Android. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Mine "looks" like the S4 and works like it too, why would I change? KISS

check in the zip file if you have 4/3 files (file_contents boot animation meta-inf system
if yes go check if the 4 files are in the directory / home / beggining folder in the zip if no then extract it then select all 4 files and then send to zip

I agree, GB is a very stable version, but I own a phone with JB installed and sometimes I don't want waste my phone battery so I use the galaxy but when it had GB, it was a downgrade for me, it was slow and could not install chrome which it's a must for me and with other roms looks and runs great ( when it used to).

I tried to re-zip one build and when I tried to flashed it status 4 came up.
Right now I was able to flash pac_venturi-nightly-20140410.zip with gapps 2014-01-05 and its working but I think that I'm using the wrong kernel for the US version because when I restart my YP-G70 stays in the Pacrom logo or galaxy S Cyanogen (mod) like frozen.
Do anyone know of a rom and kernel for the us version of KK? or the kernel for this build that I flashed and seems working because I backed up and can restore it to before flashing the kernel thank you.

Hello Guys i am trying to flash Super nexus on my S3. I used the same zip folder few days back and it worked fine. But later i flahsed other rom now issue is i can not flash back Super Nexus or any other rom on it.
I get error message of Status 7. I also tried with editing the script file to resolve ther status 7 error but still no use. Any one can help me how to get that fixed?

AFAIK status 7 is due to excessive size of ROM. Delete a few apps from ROM zip and try again.

Status 7 can be from a few different things. Something in the updater script that's not right or not compatible with the recovery you're using (have you changed that recently?) usually.

Well its fixed now i used the latest version of clockworkmod and the same rom worked like a magic.

All I want is a nice stock rom which i can debloat, install the htc home launcher, and a few useful apps.....

If you wipe system before flashing the rom you get that error
don't wipe system the rom does it for you
to flash the rom after wiping the system choose reboot / recovery now the rom will flash

@Arobase40 I know my Sig says runing RRemix, but what im asking for, is going back to a stock rom, i can flash any of the CM based roms, but have problems when returning to stock.
