[Q] S3 stuck on logo (can't flash, cant root, cant debug) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title suggests, my Galaxy S3 is stuck on a boot loop at the Samsung logo. I have tried to reflash (pwr+volup+home) but just restarts the phone. I can enter Backup mode (pwr+voldown+home) but every time I attempt to flash with any rom, Odin fails.
Obviosuly I can't set the phone to debugging mode because it won't start up.
I'm straight out of ideas now. Any suggestions?

Sorry, are you saying you cannot get into download mode? From off, vol up, home and power?

sorry, I can get into download mode (pwr+volDOWN+home) but that is all.

Flash stock rom via odin.
[READ THlS FlRST] POST QUESTIONS IN THE Q&A SECTION AND NOT HERE!!!!

Don't you need debugging enabled to flash the stock Rom?

Debugging is an android setting. You do not flash roms when in android. You flash them in download mode

Odin keeps failing though on all firmware.
I've made sure it's the correct phone, country and carrier. Any ideas?

I hate to say but this happend to me with a galaxy s.
It had a broken display.
I think the motherboard was damaged. I couldn't flash it.
If xou have warranty try to send it to samsung

Read the stickied basics Odin fail can be cable usb port drivers .

Goomanager app flashed a wrong recovery to the phone, now it won't boot but is stuck at the black "Samsung GALAXY Txt" Boot screen. does anybody know how to fix this? i wouldn't mind having to hard reset it. I tried flashing new recovery using adb/fastboot but adb doesn't "see" the device. thanks if you answer!:good:

I'd try using Odin to flash the stock firmware for your phone (Can be found on Samfirmware).

Are you able to get into recovery mode still? For download mode make sure your holding down the correct key combination to get into download mode. You can also try using a USB Download jig which you can get from here, which when plugged into the phone will force the phone into download mode. As a fair warning the download jig's don't usually work with newer model phones but for a couple bucks it's worth a try. Let me know if you still have questions.
Motherboard dead?
Sorry to invade this post. I would just like to have confirmation on my device and it's pretty similar to what is found here. The only way I can access download mode is by pressing Q+Power and then adding the battery. Odin connects to everything, I can even flash the firmware from Bell for my Galaxy gt-i5510M and it PASS. But I can't still power it up, is the motherboard or something similar dead?
Thanks

If your device can still access download mode and Odin can successfully connect to your device an flash the firmware your device's motherboard is not dead. Try re-flashing the firmware to your device and checking auto-reboot option in Odin this way when the firmware finishes flashing the device will automatically reboot and hopefully power on then.
Thanks for the fast answer, you've been answering 3 people back on this thread, impressive.
Unfortunately I made sure of that, the auto reboot was checked but it doesn't reboot the device. I wanted to put a screenshot but I didn't realize you need around 10 posts to be able to post outside links. I've been looking through xda for a while but never posting.
I'm used to adb, so Odin is a bit new I have to admit. I've put the ops file, callisto in this case, in the appropriate ops , and then the One Package file I got from samfirmware "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC". Is there something else I could flash? It wouldn't be like some other phones where I could put down a Custom Recovery, go back to stock, etc. ?

To clarify did you put the firmware in the correct slot in Odin (PDA slot in this case) when flashing? Also double check your flashing the correct firmware for your device, as that could also be part of the problem.
Well you figured some things that were wrong. I was putting it in the one package slot. So I tried in the PDA slot, but it said "Invalid Image Type". From the sticker inside the battery compartment, it does say it's the GT-I5510M, so the 551 from Bell Canada it seems. But it's not easy to find a firmware for it, and the only one I found is at sammobile. There's plenty others under GT-I5510, but they're all European.
Any idea what I could use instead? The full name of the firmware I have is: "I5510UGKC5_BMCKC5_HOMEDOWNLOAD_TEST.tar" or "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC.zip" for the zip.
Thanks a lot for following this.

You can try ignoring the "Invalid Image Type" error and trying to flash anyway just don't unplug your phone from Odin until it fully completes the process.

I did, but didn't work, I should have mentioned that. So the screen is still blank. But another driver got recognized and installed once the firmware was installed, Samsung com 3 if I remember well. I was hoping when I saw that!

With the new COM port being recognized try the procedure again and see if it has any different results.
sorry to interrupt you people.. but are you sure that it is a proper firmware file. because the pda file is .tar file. also, try entering the recovery mode and flashing a cwm recovery. then check if the system is mounted.
Sorry I've been away, meaning no phone and laptop with me. Thanks for the replies. I tried to flash again the firmware last week but nothing happened unfortunately.

I can't access recovery mode, only download mode by simultaneously putting the battery back in and pushing Q+Power. But I am wondering also if it could be a wrong firmware... Can I just flash a custom rom through Odin? Would that make up for it? Anything to having back in working order.

That's probably because for recovery you need to hold down the volume down and up buttons and the power button.

Have a nice day
First make sure you're using the latest odin available. Second, a lot of time for me, my phone will only get recognized on certain usb ports on my computer so odin doesn't see it. For example the two top front ports don't recognize it at all. The middle two do. I have an idea of why but haven't bothered to try fixing it. Point is, try every usb port u have. If it still doesn't recognize it, try reinstalling kies and the latest usb drivers for our device. (there are generic usb drivers for it)
We're you using a custom rom before? With which kernel? Odin a custom kernel with recovery, like siyah etc..... Then use 3 button combo to get into recovery

Can't proceed with rooting after putting the phone on download mode.....

Hi guys,
I'm very new here and also a noob when it comes to rooting and flashing custom ROMS. I was following the instructions of Archidroid in installing his CustomROm Archidroid. The instructions are easy to understand and very helpful. I was able to download his ROM and put it to my externalSDcard as recommended. I downloaded the lates Odin and Philztouchrecovery as instructed and put it on the PDA field. Then I was successful in putting my phone to download mode. Now here's the problem after I replugged my phone to my computer, nothing happened! "<ID:0/003> Added!!". >>This message did not appear on the message box of Odin. The last message from Odin is leave CS mode. What am I doing wrong?? My phone is the Galaxy S3-GT-I9300. And it hasn't been rooted yet. If there's already a thread about this please let me know so I can get to it, I tried searching but I can't find the answers that I need here. Please help!

Have tried all three USB ports in my laptop but still the same and yes, I am in download mode. One thing I can add and I don't know if it has anything to do with it is, on the top left the custom binary is a NO. I'm really new at this. One more question if my phone is being recognized by laptop when I plug it in like it appears as a portable device on My Computer it means that the USB drivers are installed and correct, right?

custom binary has nothing to do here buddy. first you need to root the phone using CF-ROOT method. and flash the philz recovery.zip from CWM recovery that comes after flashing with CF-ROOT. later you will be able to flash any custom rom through philz recovery.
step1: open odin
step2: put phone in download mode(volume down+home+power)
step3: connect phone via usb
step4: odin recognizes the phone
step5: cf-root and the following methods stated at the beginning

Sounds more like no drivers installed. Try installing kies to get the drivers and then ensure it's not running in the background. That should solve your problem.

URGENT. Installed wrong kernel to I9505 S4. Need advice!

I've rushed into trying to root my Galaxy S4, but used the wrong process. I have a GT I9505 and used the SCH-I545 pre-release kernel making it stick after the samsung screen.
It has a blue light in top corner, I've removed battery and put it back in and when I try to turn it on in top left it says;
KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set warranty bit: kernel
I've tried flashing stock ROM but to no avail just hangs on connecting in Odin!
Please help! At this point I would like to get my phone back to normal or root it properly. Thanks
At this point I have only installed an incompatible kernel. It still boots into recovery mode and Download mode!

I've tried to do that but I'm not sure if I have the correct firmware! I'm in UK on Vodafone.
I have a download but I try to install it and it just says Fail every time!? It still recognises the phone but now it says;

Could you help me find a place to get a decent speed download of the firmware?
I'm unsure of the model details cause I can't get it on!

If you can't boot into the system Kies has no use. Better wait someone with your phone to answer you. (in that thread).
Get your official firmware from Sammobile.com if odin doesn't recognise the phone install the correct drivers for the i9505 you can also try to use a different version of odin 3.09 for instance
