I know tw is not as good as sense but if you see from a themers point of view then tw is better than sense. Why? Because the system apps are very simplified in their codes and you can edit them easily with understanding, it has no dependencies like HTC has. That's why there are so many mods for tw and very less for HTC phones.

that's right..I was trying to modify systemui yesterday, wasted like 5 hours, tried every method,but every time there was some error , either the items which I was trying to modify were disappeared or in worst case whole UI stopped working..on the other hand editing for a Samsung device took me like 15min. the other day & everything was perfect, no errors..
but still Sense looks cool, it is one of reasons why people buy HTC..

Replacing hTC Sense is a non-sense because Sense is hTC and TouchWiz is Samsung
one thing that I'missing here is the font from the Samsung phones which is really nice...
Sense is so much better than TW!

It should work...Just click on home button and set it as default...However I do not think you should delete Rosie.apk if you want to use other launcher. You can simply set that launcher as your default launcher. I personally like Rosie.apk

If you want to remove Rosie.apk U can either use aroma file manager or....
1.Boot into Fastboot
2.Connect Phone To Pc
3.Start adb terminal
4.type 'adb shell' (without quotes)
5.rm system/app/rosie.apk
The rm command means remove it can remove any system app

I'm simply don't know why people are buying HTC phones and then make a huge effort to remove Sense from it. Sense is one of the main reasons why I buy only HTC phones. If you want to buy phone with vanilla Android go and buy some Nexus model or some ZTE crap that has a stock android installed.

Nexus 4 is expensive... And you know well that you can't get it from Play Store for the $300 price in Serbia...

Desire, Incredible S and now Desire X, with plans for One S (Ville not C version).

Well.. Sincerly I bought Desire X only for Sense and I used it for a month but now for me Sense is only a way to make your phone slower and there are a lot of unused apps.
For this now I like more stock version. Is faster and simple and the ROM I will make will have only 250mb and not 400mb as Sense-based roms.

That's what I mean.
I don't want to be negative, but all those features are in the other ROMs. Except fonts, but I had that planned for my next update.
It just seems pointless to post your ROM.

I was wandering if there is a way to make a hybrid rom or if a dev would be willing to try to make one. I'm just suggesting because I like sense 5 but I do miss the sense 4+ widgets they removed and the carousel home screen transitions. Also being able to move your home screens around to a different spot. Everything else I like is from sense 5. If maybe someone could port those over or make a sense 4+/5 hybrid. Just a suggestion.

given the massive changes to sense, it would be a lot of work to try and integrate sense5 features into a stock rom or vice versa
given the dependency changes as well (fusion, assets, rosie/prism, etc) you would be asking for issues
not to say its impossible...but i dont see the amount of time needed and the probability of it not even panning out really being worth a dev's time....then again, some people seem to have 100 hours a week to work on stuff, so who knows
Unless you wanted to pay a lot for a developer to do this, it's doubtful. You could always download both versions and make your own hybrid. Granted this would be simple things such as icons and such (already available to download on Viper DNA) , unless you know how to code.

The one Sense 4+ widget I don't miss is FriendStream. I know some don't like the fact that it isn't removable from the homescreen, but BlinkFeed beats FriendStream by a country mile.

Blinkfeed is great if your into the whole "social" thing but what if your not? Sense 4 for me right now is were I'm at. Maybe Sense 5.1 will bring back some of the widgets I want. Also blinkfeed would be better if it had like emails and messages like windows phone. Its really just a fancy RSS reader.

I use blinkered for news sites. You don't have to use it for Facebook/Twitter if you don't want to.

blinkfeed is and will always have controversial opinions...they should just have the ability to disable it. i like it when htc and samsung come out with cool features, but they should always leave the ability to disable things...

How about just adding animation to the HTC weather widget
I have a Sense 4+/5 hybrid that I created for the HTC One S, you can try to port if you want. Its on tweakedandroid.com, its called ButterBean.

thats not a hybrid rom...thats a sense 4+ rom that has sense5 icons/images/fonts etc
a true *hybrid* would mix the frameworks/apks/widgets and so on...not just mimic the look
i remember the days of the hybrid sense 2/3 roms on the OG Inc...good times.
That ROM would probably take up a lot of system space since they call on different system commands..
I like this idea a lot, although i think the amount of work makes it not really worth the time someone would have to spend on it. There are some things I miss about sense 5. For example, why did they remove all the customizability? No skins? I feel like they're kind of pulling an apple on us. Regardless, I love sense 5. I keep switching back and forth though because I do miss 4+ sometimes.

To fix a theme complete with widgets is hard and takes a lot of time and effort.
Many of the widgets in HTC Sense is impossible to port without using Sense.
And to port or having Sense working on our Sammy phones is nearly impossible

I was wondering for quite a bit, if it was possible to maybe add, for example, the htc camera .apk to, maybe, the miui jb rom or any other rom without sense.
Actually, the only reason I'm staying on sense based miui are the miui apps and the htc camera. I know it might need the sense framework but I'd really appreciate any answer..
tl;dr --> Can I use the htc camera app on a non sense rom. I don't even need 3d, as this isn't possible.

A big NO my friend. Its not possible to break the coding of htc camera apk to work on other roms without sense. It's coding is somewhat connected with sense

I guess I'll need to wait for JB sense 4 to get a sense 4 MIUI.. or whatever, I don't know
To the apps, I'd like the MIUI notes, miui backup, voice recorder, actually miui has got lots of great apps. Do you think i could just push them into the system folder and set the permissions?

That rom was based of the official gsm version so I know there is one out there. Maybe digital high can point you in the right direction...

I didn't really get what you're trying to do but if you want to flash MIUI on your GSM phone, download either one of the official MIUI below;
ICS MIUI 4.0.3 this is the last ICS based MIUI where everything works including 3D. This is build 3.2.22
JB MIUI 4.1.2 this is the latest BETA which is version 5, almost all stuff works except camera/camcorder 3D and is the latest build which is 3.5.24. Be aware though that if you flash this one, it doesn't come with onscreen keyboard and you will have to find a keyboard you can flash at recovery or install ( as an .apk ) using file explorer when you boot up. Also you have to flash Google Apps AFTER rebooting your flashed rom or else the home button will not work. You can download Google Apps here.

Sense 3.6 is ICS and Sense 3.5 is GB, if I'm not mistaken.
I did run Sense 3.6 on my HOV so I guess it is doable for DX but the main problem is the Camera not perfectly working.

I never said "Port it" or somethink like that cuz i dont think is easy And thanks to all dev for theyr work!
Now i have to say that i want to try that too xD DX is my first sence phone and...Was lite and etc...You know what i mean : (.I never worked with sence 3,5-3,6 and i will try it if someone port it Will be something different ,not the another ics based rom with root +advanced power menu.

For your information, u can flash ckpv5 s RC 3.5 Custom ROM if u want full sense 4 .
Haha cant believe i didnt see this thread yesterday, Yeah it would be cool (even it were just a few features) as sense3 seems to have alot more mods and themes then sense4. If someone did this i'd resize & "port" tons of mods/tweaks/themes

Well sense 4 may be fancy an flashy but sense 3.6 had some nice features which has been removed since sense 4 like the homescreen loop scrooling or the app drawer horizontal scroolling. I hate that HTC removed the Filpclock animation, like on the earlier senses, when turning the screen on . It has been removed since Sense 4. Sense 3.6 may be old but it worked like it should be. But it is my opinion
And u have a lot of mods on sense 3.6
Sense 3.6 with sense 4 or 5 skins will be awesome.

I think they remove it cuz was too heavy Now you can see the difference btw sence 4 and 5...They try to fix theyr own ****s Never is too late..

Yeah, but the latest HTC devices is meant to be faster than the previous ones. HTC removed all the cool stuff since Sense 4 and instead put those stupid accordion effect. Indeed Sense 4 has got some nice features too. But they should keep the cool stuffs from Sense 3.6 that people like and which make Sense better than other launchers. But that is my opinion Haven t tried sense 5 yet.
Dont try it! The Sense 5 as interface is very boring also looks like i cant find words to describe it. Thats my personaly opinion but everyone has a different view and preferences!

If someone here will port it...then it will be for you only...even the porter will not be using the ROM for himself which he might have ported with 4-5 hrs of non stop hard work....
