My cell phone has changed it's internal model, lot's of errors - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have a motorola razr d3 xt920 and after using the crappy Multi mount SD card to be able to mount as MASS STORAGE many problems started happening, like no more option to choose which sim to use (it's a dual sim phone), no option to turn one sim off, Play Store not working anymore (force closes)... and after all I've found in the about that the phone is now presenting itself as XT919 (the single SIM brother). That could explain the lack of dual sim menus. Also after doing something it came up with a message saying FLEX was not found. FLEX seems to be some motorola related layer in their phones. So if anyone can help, is there a file or way to set it back as XT920 and also works like one of those? there's no CWM for this phone yet and no good firmware that I could re-flash. there's a bug that disable one of the sims if you reflash it.

In case you are rooted, you can try to change the build.prop file. Your phone's identity is in there (just scroll down) and then change it back to yours, this might solve it. In case you are not rooted, I really don't know what to do (except from rooting and then try the first method)... You may have accidentally changed the build no. or something like that. I don't think the ad card has anything to do with it. Hope this helped a little

Sim card not recognized

About 2 weeks ago I installed on my Xperia S CM9 by FXP (v. FXP133). Yesterday my Xperia lost signal, even after many reboots there wasn't any signal (well, one time there was, but I losted it after 5 min), so I installed stock ICS (and relocked bootloader). But there is one problem: now my Xperia can't recognize sim card. IMEI is fine, baseband is OK, signal probably too (emergancy calls only). I already tried repair phone in PC Companion - didn't work. Installed CM9 again and unlocked bootloader - still no signal. In Security setting I can't set up SIM Card lock. I can't put another SIM Card, because I don't have another one on this size.
So, what can I do with it? Is there any way to repair my Xperia S without sending it to RMA? Thanks.
And sorry for my poor English, I'm from Poland
dude i have the same problem,
i used miui 2.8.10 for a couple days. The first symptom i saw was that it notified that there was not a simccard in my xperia s, but the simcard was ofcuz in my xps and out of no where it said that there was not a simcard.
i restarted the phone and same story and the second restart it asked me for my pincode which means that it read my simcard.
But today its is game over for me i tried so much restarts and i also installed the official ics no changes and i tried my own simcard in a friends phone (galaxy s3) and it worked but his simcard could not be read by my xperia s.
if there is a solution please share ^^
What are the exact message/pop up? Does it have any options like cancel or dismiss?
Sent from my Sony Xperia S
On stock ROM "Please insert SIM card and restart your phone". But when I remove SIM Card from phone, when it is on, pop up shows up with text "SIM Card removed. Restarting". After that when I insert SIM card, when phone is on, pop up shows up with text "SIM card inserted. Restarting". After that still pop up shows up with text "Please insert SIM card and restart your phone".
On CM9 nothing shows up, still no signal.
EDIT: Problem fixed. SIM card is probably damaged (on my uncle phone works), changed it to the new one :/
And here's the answer
Hey guys I can help because I grapple with the same thing everyday multiple times in a day
The temporary solution is simple.
Just click on settings. Then click on backup and resets. Then click on Settings Reset.
The phone will restart and you'll be jubilant that the issue is gone. But wait a min....its going to come back again! Just do the thing again. And don't freak out, no data will get deleted
All this said I'd love a permanent fix to this annoyance

[Q] Strange USB Issue - 1 phone works 1 doesn't

Both my wife and I have the Verizon S4 (latest stock/unrooted). While connected to the same PC, mine gets recognized as a media device and I am able to copy/move files on both the phone memory and external sd card. But my wife's phone just gets recognized as a modem and no drive appears.
Can someone help resolve this issue, please?
------
1. Doesn;t seem to be a driver issue on the PC since one phone gets recognized correctly and both phone are exactly the same models.
2. Tried different USB cables and ports. One phone works in all these hardware change scenarios.
3. I verified the phone settings on both phones side by side but couldn't find anything obvious.(I am still hopeful that this is something silly that I missed). I have enabled developer options on both and played with enabling/disabling USB debugging but doesn't help.
With the recent Kitkat fiasco with SD Cards, our 16GB phone memories were full and we can't seem to move files on the phone itself. Hence we need to use the PC. I was able to move media files to the SD and free up space using the PC. But I can't seem to do the same thing on my wife's phone.

It sounds like your wife's phone may be set to the wrong Qualcomm USB mode.
I have no idea if it will work on Kitkat, but try dialing ##DMMODE# and see if you can access the usb mode setting. Look at what it is on the working one and change it to match on the non-working one, if it is different.
Thank you so much!!!!

Thank you very much!!!! That was the issue. DM MODE was enabled on my wife's phone and not on mine. Disabling DM MODE made my phone getting recognized as a Media device.
Thanks again and a special one for the quick reply and help stop me from going bald .... I was just pulling my hair bad

Cm 11 Nightly On Droid Razr Xt912 Many Problems, Please Help

Hi, there, this is farhan Ali who SALUTE you guys for the greatest work all you people are doing there
I have a Motorola Droid Razr XT 912 verizon "but unlocked" and working on my telenor PK
I have rooted it and installed safestraf 3.73 with TWRP 2.7.x.x
created a secondary like partition in the internal memory and installed CM-10.2.1 (didn't like it so)
installed CM-11-20140812nightly the look and feel was great, later I installed gapps-kk-20131208-no_set_metadata which was working fine, had some bugs indeed but good for my Droid Razr to be Kitkat
hence as usualley most people do, so i did updated to CM-11-20140827, 29, 31 till today i tried 20140901 which somehow failed which flashing but this could be a bad downloaded zip bcz electric went off twice in download time.
I have found some issues CM-11 on my XT912 Droid Razr which i think should be discussed with you guys....
Firstly I use a Telenor PK sim but my phone always show VERIZON WIRELESS whether I see it from the locked screen or from the drop down menu/Toggale notification menu (when it was CM-11-20140812 it used to show "no sim card - Telenor PK"
Secondly the signal indicator is always dimmed in colour "it seems like there is no carrier nearby"
Thirdly the incall dialer dosn't work, "means when i call my carrier's help line and when the IVR says press 1 for URDU, press 2 for Pashto, press 3 for English i want to choose whatever one and press any key but it says you press no key"
And Forthly when I dial USSD code like *999# or any other code like this (may be carrier specific) it says "call ended" while when i was in CM-11-20140812 it used to say "NO SIM OR SIM ERROR"
I tried also APN backup and restore etc.. but still not solved.
Regards to All you great guys please remove these bugs and thank you all again for making such a great piece software bundle for all of us.
Hy, Guys you people are updating nightlies day by day yet my problems are in the same place, today i have updated my phone to 25.09.2014 but the problems i mentioned in my post are intact and are the same way behaving. I know you guys are doing something much more importante than my stumbles but they are too needed to be resolved so that the CM would go finest and superb.
Wish you guys soon do the job and release a stable OR one of the perfect OS for our Droid Razr poor poor Razr. hahahahahhahahhaa

[Q] Phone got stolen. Need help tracing it and wipe it.

So about a day ago my phone got stolen. Now the phone in question had an utterly obliterated screen of which rendered it completely useless for now. However i am more interested in the sd card rather than the phone it self. When trying to ping it with Android Device Manager it just says that the location is unavailable so there seems to be no internet connection.
So i tried installing Android Lost through the Play Store and pushing a message with the command "androidlost register" to no avail. So by this time i assumed that the SIM card had been plucked out and done for. But i tried pushing another text message earlier today to it with the same command but this time with delivery reports enabled. And i got a message that said that it'd been delivered.
So this has to mean that the sim card is still in there and the phone is still on but no internet connection right?
Now is there any way to have Android Device Manager notify me whenever it comes online? My operator has a feature where i can enter the IMEI and lock the phone through that. But what kind of lock would that enable? Is it just like having the phone locked down with a pattern lock? Also could it affect the sdcard? If so then in what way? How is .nomedia files treated on Touchwiz own gallery app and file explorer? If this guy has left the SIM in then i can undoubtedly also assume that he has left the sd card in as well. Is there any way at all to wipe and or pull the files from the sd card? I'm ready to do pretty much anything even if it requires to hire a blackhat who'll get this **** done for me. I don't think what kind of phone this is really matters but it's an S4 LTE running CM11 with a six number code enabled, this isn't really something that's he's gonna get through if he fixes the screen is he?
As for now it seems that the phone is turned off since i am no longer getting delivery reports and my kik messages are just not getting through.
If this is way too much then i'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction of where someone might be able to help me.
First time posting here so if the thread is in the wrong place feel free to move it.

Apps on SD Card Suddenly Greyed Out

My wife and I have S9+ phones, T-Mobile. There was a software update rolled out today which we both installed. Shortly thereafter I noticed on both phones that all the apps that we keep on the SD micro card are greyed out. Oddly, they are still accessible and open and work as normal. Since both phones are showing the same symptoms I have to assume this is update related. I called T-Mobile and the rep had no idea why, only to tell me that the update is a Samsung rollout and issue. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes I'm having the same exact issue, doesn't appear to be a way to fix it yet, if you add your most used apps to your home screen or your apps edge it seems to work, otherwise you'll have to move the apps off the sd card back to the phone. It's more of an annoyance at this point since you can still access them from the sd card, hoping they put out a fix for it soon.

Yeah, no fix at this time. I've been on the phone with Samsung, twice, about this and they are aware of the issue. The thinking is it will be fixed with the next software update.
