If you're on Verizon, it should be set to CDMA/LTE.

Just leave it on global or when you enter a low service area it will bug you constantly to switch to global. Also, you don't need to touch any apn settings.

When I get a new message I don't see who the sender is in the notification bar.

He answered the question, if he wants it that way, let him have it.
So, from my understanding of how the icons work, the color of the arrows indicate use.
My S4 started showing my wifi and 4G icons constantly, but somehow the bartery life is better than before somehow.
Am I reading the icons wrong?

Freeze it with titanium backup or you might be able to disable it in the app manager in settings

Got it, has different name not city id anymore but I disabled it cause not rooted

I tend to you smilies a lot on my GS4 but when I click on the sym key it feels like it takes forever to switch over to smileys. Is there a way to lower the wait time? I know on swiftkey you can. Wasn't sure on here

What keyboard are you using? That could be the problem. I use Google Keyboard and they pop up instantly.
