Requesting s-off solution - HTC Desire X

Good day guys, I have noticed that a s-off solution for the desire x has not been achieved as of yet and seems to getting the way of this phone being ignored and at the bottom of the pecking order regarding a s-off solution.
I thought it might help you guys who want and is desperate for s-off on the desire x to make a request to moonshine as there is this email address to requesting a request for s-off asking to leave make and details for a request for s-off. ...email to with make and hboot version..etc to:-
[email protected]
I believe that moonshine as done a fantastic job in making the moonshine for s-off on devices but the more folk that request s-off for this device we stand a better chance of a solution
thanks for time reading

Many Dx users Have already messaged the moonshine team, and i imagine If their inbox starts getting flooded with s-off requests they will start to mark them as spam, we will get s-off when à member of such à team gets our device.

oddly enough not that many of the devs/modders/fixers seem to want it, it would be good to have and probably help us quite a bit but until we get the higher up ones pushing doubt we will get a solution and only the guy who made the elegancia rom ever tried and he bricked his device then never got another one probably got something better with more devs personally my next phone will be researched more and definatly not another htc

haha yeah same for me, HTC's just not what it used to be

yea true well i dont know what they used to be like 2nd android phone and 1st htc here but while the phone itself is alright its the guys at htc that let it down, by the way have you heard of the xtc clip that can make gold cards for htc phones ? thinking of getting one but if theres another way to do so that would be great, if i get one and it works ill post it so others can use it, pity all the resellers are on the other side of the world

Why not just create a gold card?

if that works awesome but as of yet we have one of the few htc phone very few people care about
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app

Sir I have a xtc clip and can confirm at present there is no solution to s-off the dx with the xtc clip, and even though it does make gold cards the gold card method will no longer work with the dx.. just a case of us all holding tight and hope someone will come along with a solution I'm affraid.

bugger was hoping there would be a way but seems htc wants to limit what we can do with our phones well thats just great hopefully someone will buy my phone then all respect for htc just went out the window

Flyer root method for Jetstream?

It looks as if there are no devs for the Jetstream, but if anyone more Android savvy than myself would like to give this a look over to see if any of the HTC Flyer methods are possible in regards to S-off and root for the Jetstream, I would appreciate it.
I know that the flyer is a gingerbread device, but the underlying hardware is very similar to the Jetstream.
I will gladly donate money to anyone who figures out a root method for the Jetstream
Here is a link to S-Off and Root for the flyer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198650
I don't think it would work.... For the fact that there are a number of prerequisite tasks to get Honeycomb on Flyer....
I would donate, too!
+1 for a donation, it would be nice to have root again.
+1 for donation from me too..!!

Contact customer support. It will cost money though. If you can not get any life into your device I am not sure you have any other options
Maybe something like this

Completely correct. If you flash the wrong hboot, and the Flyer won't power on, no charging lights, can't get into hboot, recovery, and not recognized by adb, you are pretty much screwed.
That is why you need to be extremely careful when flashing things like hboot and recovery. Quadruple check everything before you do it.

Why are you digging up old threads, and adding your own issue (unrelated question) to them? The one thread you created was enough. Cross posting is against the rules, and isn't going to get you an answer any faster.

Going to buy a HTC DESIRE X with my girlfriend TODAY and would like to S-OFF and ROOT it right afterwards. Therefore, please answer quick: How to S-OFF it the fastest way? Note: I would like to avoid using the HTC-Dev method. Although not officially documented that it works, did anybody try REVOLUTIONARY to unlock its bootloader? All fast answers are thanked for!

Just want to second that.
It isn't possible yet, there's workarounds for deleting system apps etc.
The community is very small, but picking up, and there are some great devs beavering away quietly.
Patience or bricking your phone are the options atm.

revolutionery was great for olders phones like bravo, dhd and saga etc but there are new measures in these 2012 phones which ,might get bricked if you try those old tools.
BTW, I myself used revolutionery to S-OFF by desire (bravo)

He got me the PG88DIAG and also the LEODIAG
Good luck : )

Any news on s-off?

I unlocked my bootloader and now I'm waiting for s-off to make it look like it was untampered. I seen a while ago someone figured it out but there's been no news since. Anyone heard anything?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Nope - Still waiting. I suspect that someone is working on a user friendly way to implement it. It's one thing to achieve it, but another to make the method available to the average user (Like me).
I'm an average user but I'd rather have a hard-ish way so I can learn. Hopefully it can be done on ubuntu.

It was both, a custom hboot that was flashed in download mode which was achieved by connecting a wire to two contact points on the back of the phone. The custom hboot did the s off and then you just overwrite with stock hboot and voilla, s off

I guess the folks that figured it out are still working the on the bugs in the system before they release it to us masses. After mastering the "wire" trick on my Rezound also, I'm pretty sure I can handle it as long as there's a reasonable certainty I won't brick my phone.

[Q] Flashing kernel from recovery

Since I'm stuck on Windows 8.1 Blue preview I'm unable to use fastboot, so I've done a bit of googling.
I found this utility from the HTC One forums which apparently works for Qualcomm devices only, so surely it should work for us?
Anyway I'll go and test it and will report back, but I just wanted to say, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP FASTBOOT/ADB WORKING, DON'T UPDATE TO WINDOWS BLUE
EDIT: I've read further and it seems like the mmcblk0p for the utility may be different for the Desire X. I'll check it out.
I asked for some more information on the thread you found and will see if it's possible making this working for our device.
cheers mate, it sure would make life a lot easier for noobs.... and those fallen into the Windows 8.1 trap
Nopes,
doesnt work. just tried.
I'm pretty sure you'd need s-off to flash kernels from recovery

Yes, you are right.
Actually there is some write protection rights which do not let anything run from recovery partition to write on boot partition. However, it is not completely related to S-OFF.
However, My bro had HTC explorer low end phone. It had S-ON and still they could flash boot img from recovery without any issues.
HTC is unpredictable these days.
But why does it work for HTC One then?

must be an exploit. Or HTC are licking the feet of their prime flagship customers. Thats actually quite unfair why they make strange decisions.
Sense lite, removing HTC swipe, JB 4.1.1 STILL, and many shady decisions are the reason why they dont have many more years as a big company. Shame. They were the pioneers and now the chasing pack.

My remaining days are limited with the Desire X, I'm buying a Nexus 4 in the next month. But I will still help with testing and everything. This will allow my Desire X to be a full testing device and I don't need to worry about bricking
