Best deal for the Mega - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Hi guys,
lets see what deals you're going for to get this device. I went with www.buymobilephones.net here in the UK, they are doing lots of contract offers from all the carriers with this device, which is supplied UNLOCKED.
I went for the T-Mobile "Full Monty" offer, 24 month contract, 500mins, Unlimited texts, Unlimited Data and FREE phone for £27/Month. This is the second time I've used buymobilephones.net, the phone arrives next day, great service!
So, what deal has everyone else gone for, is going for, or has found?

If you're a light user like me (I use my phone more for games and multimedia rather than calls and texts), you can just get the Mega 6.3 for £325 SIM free and get an Ovivo SIM for FREE 250 texts, 150 Mins, 500MB data every month.
If you are a heavy user of calls, texts, and data then the contract price is a good deal for you.

I always buy simfree so gor it from ebuyer 385 after work cashback scheme then pay 29 per month to three get unlimited data and tethering 5000 tezts bla bla
Sent from my GT-I9205 using xda premium

Amazon.co.uk £358 - giffgaff sim 500mins 1gb internet unlimited texts £10 (32gb class 10 micro sdhc Sandisk Ultra £15.99 mymemory.co.uk)
I'm always wary of buying high price items off eBay especially technology that can so often go wrong.

Cheapest UK Hero contract?

Hi all,
The contracts of Hero seems rather expensive (£600+ over 18 months) for a phone that is worth £350-ish PAYG.
Unless I am mistaken? Please post the best deals you can find!
Thanks.
I paid ...
£97 for the phone, and a further ...
£30 a month for 600 mins calls, unlimited txts, unlimited internet (which translates to a fair usage policy of 500mb/month)
All on Orange Dolphin 30, 24 months contract
Probably way over-priced, but I was desperate and just walked into the Orange shop.
You can get it from t-mobile on an 18 month contract for 35 quid a month. phone is 'free' and you get cool black one (best colour IMO).
you get unlimited internet (which is actually unlimited) compared to most other carriers who will offer 500mb on a fair use policy. can't remember the calls and text allowance but its more then enough.
I believe it's 3GB actually with T-Mobile, which is A LOT more than the other networks here in the UK (as far as I know).
T-mobile is probably the best, but is still a lot of money. Their fair-use limit is 3Gb, Vodaphone and O2 is only 500mb which is stupid. O2 don't carry the Hero, but their iphones do come with true unlimited internet (but don't allow streaming video or audio, VoIP or tethering.)
If you want to save money, try www.moneysavingexpert.com and click through to their page on saving money on mobile phone contracts. It has links to the best serch engines for this kind of thing.

O2 isn't 500mb. They don't have a limit and i've never heard of anyone being contacted by them for downloading too much. I've downloaded 600mb+ for the last 2 months with o2 and had no problems.
I've had some massive usage months on O2 also and never heard a peep about it. The whole O2 internet experience is generally pretty good. None of the port blocking or (un)fair usage crap.
I was going to go with www.mobiles.co.uk - v good deals - but stuck with my Vodafone upgrade because I have more faith in their hardware, support and signal. That's worth an extra few quid to me.
Have friends who take out contracts with various third parties and have all sorts of problem. Not worth the hassle for the sake of saving a few squids.

I pay £35 a month for my FlexT 35 contract, and my Hero was free. I was out of contract on FlexT before, but I was paying an additional £7.50 a month for web n'walk, and I now get the free G1/G2 data plan so in essence it is cheaper for me now.
Regards,
Dave
Ive got my hero on vodaphone, £25 a month, 500mb internet, 500 texts and 100 minutes. Phone cost 70. Bought at carphone warehouse, Its an alright deal, would like to be on t mobile for more internet, but no signal for them where i live...

well £600 for 18 months is not bad at all had set free unlimted high speed data. The had set will set you back around £400 and no support from net works usually then theres the bloody hellish cost of data and calls on pay as you go so the t-mobile contract is about the best out there. And service from them is nearly allways amazing
I got mine on Orange Racoon 40 Websave over 12 months
Its just over £40 per month, including Internet, phone cost about £50, but I used QuidCo to get £50 cashback.

same - 12 months £32/month + £5 for internet. £50 phone but £50 cashback. Winner and I can upgrade change in 12 months.
I got mine from www.buymobilephones.net. which is one of mobile news awards commended online retailers.
My tarrif is on t-mobile 18-months with 700 mins, unlimited texts, 3GB data allowance and the phone was free.
I am paying £34.25 directly to t-mobile but have got 11 months half price line rental which is equivalent to £188 cashback. This is made through redemptions throughout the length of the contract which is similar to what carphonewarehouse used to do.

I had scoured the internet for HTC Hero and T-Mobile G2 Touch contracts as I badly wanted this phone and found no better deal than this.
EDIT: 3 Months free insurance as well.
Haha burgess_boy you post sounds like an advert But thanks! This is the sort of deals I am looking for. I used Buymobilephones a few years ago so I haven't got a problem using them again. Theres £20 on Quidco as well... nice.
@locutus-of-borg - The reason I think the Hero on contract is expensive is because I have had a lot of WinMo phones of similar value to the Hero, yet the contracts (inc internet) were cheaper - usually £25 for 18 months.

If you look at the TMo website, you have to pay £50->£60 per month to get a free WinMo phone.

I posted this to HUKD:

Works out at £350 for the 12 months, assuming the £50 QuidCo kicks in (mine tracked pretty quickly). However, you'd need to buy Orange Internet @£7.50 / month, too.

[Q] Which contract?

Hey guys, i wanted to ask your opinions on my current position, for choosing what contract and network provider i should go with.
Ok so heres what happenend:
I was going to go for the t mobile contract, which is 500 mins, 600 text, an option to choose a booster (which in this case I would choose the internet booster for unlimited internet) and a free 8 micro SD card. Also i have to pay about £30 up front. This is from phones4u online.
Now when I was going to cancel my current contract with orange, but they actually offered me a really good deal!! with the same minutes, with unlimited text, and 1GB of internet! plus give the phone free.
But they said the phone would available in a few weeks, which presume is June, as some of you guys already called orange and asked them already.
Now im not sure which contract to go with?
plus im not sure wat the mobile 3g internet is like with orange compared to to t-mobile.
thanks in regards
They are the same company now, but apparently T-mobile sucks for data, but peeps on here are actually rating orange, I recently did a test across differing networks for data, unfortunately I did not test T-Orange
Although after my test I concluded Voda was best but have ended up spending my money with 3 as they are the best hybrid of value for money and network performance.

[Q] Do you think this is a good deal?

Hi,
A few hours ago I signed a contract with T-Mobile Poland.
So the contract is for 30 months, I get the SGS2 for 1zł (0,25€), 120min of free calling (mothly I use about 80min) & 250mb of data for free (I prefer using wi-fi).
All this I get for about 25€ monthly.
So, do You think this is a good deal? Can you get the SGS2 for less money in other counties?
Sorry for my english.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

No offence mate but that is an absolutely terrible deal the worst ive seen in quite sometime Ireland is a rip off but you will get a far better deal than that for less time, in the UK even cheaper.
Take it back if i were you, 30 month contract
£35 a month here I get (phone was free)
2000mins any network
5000mins to other people on my network
Unlimited sms
True unlimited data
I'm using about 9 gig a month to test them they havent said nothing to me so far

It's hard to get a better deal in poland.
The "shortest" contract here is for 24 months (t-mobile).
And if you want to pay the 25euro a month you have to pay about 330euro for the phone
@ 30 months it might be cheaper to buy the phone outright... then you have choice of pay as you go or sim only
Buy one (sim locked does not matter as you unlock it easy) from ebay. Much cheaper option. Here in Sweden they sell them brand new for SEK3800 equal to EUR475.
That's an insane deal! I'm on a deal with o2 that gives me unlimited texts, 900 minutes and 500mb data on an 18 month contract with a free handset for less than £30/ month - roughly EUR35 (?)
I'd be hoping for something similar to a cooling off period and go for a sim only deal.
if you calculate on the end phone will cost u around 750euro wtf? i paid 400euro for a brand new samsung galaxy s2 white.
No offence but anyone who signs up to a long contract is mad IMO, you will more than likely end up buying the phone cheaper and getting a pay as you go SIM the likes of Giff Gaff who are the cheapest in the UK by a long shot i have SIM myself when in in the UK a tenner and you get 250 mins, unlimited texts and data superb deal , Meteor are the cheapest in Ireland but worst customer service ever so i would avoid them like the plague and i would say go with second cheapest eMobile who am now with, i spend €30 i get 350 mins,350 texts (and 300 free web texts) and 1GB data and free landline calls plus €20 bonus credit every month, that is an excellent pay as you go deal IMO.
I'll never again sign up to a long contract,.just wait that little bit longer and buy the phone outright rather than being tied to one provider, even a rolling 30 day contract is ok but nothing longer than that..30 months is just insane
I know it's a long time but the 24 month shortest contract & the price of the phone is ridiculous in this contract.
I'm a new member so I cant show links if you want to see them paste "imageshack" in the right gap.
Here's the 24 month contract
img26. .us/img26/3519/24rej.jpg
And here's the 30 month contract
img252. .us/img252/7723/95915733.jpgSo if I wanted the shorter contract and pay this 25euro per month I would have to pay 250euro for the sgs2
I have T-mobile UK which i get business unlimited which i pay £35 a month.

Buy a handset only.... No contract
like BigMrB said buy the phone and get only either a sim only contract if you can or pay as you go. No point getting yourself in a long term contract. best way to go really and wish i did that few years back ago
I've just ordered my SG2, I have to pay 20 euros the first 9 months and then 15 months 40 euro. 300 Minutes / 300 SMS's (i only use whatsapp )/ Unlimited data.
The phone was free.
Last time that I've bought a phone was a Blackberry 9780 for 230 euro and one year contract. First 3 months where 15 euro and the rest 45 euro.
It's funny how they offer that bad contracts here in poland. Got to move out!
That's a horrendously bad deal....
Here in Australia Vodafone currently offers:
AUD$65/EUR€52 a month for 24 months (no handset repayments)
2GB Data
Unlimited calls
Unlimited Texts
Free access to all popular social network sites

New Orange Customer Q

Hello guys,
I've recently switched from O2UK to Orange UK. So far it's been an ok deal, and I wanted to share some things I've learnt and hopefully some questions answered.
Now i'll be honest I got a good deal,
O2
18mth
600 mins
1200 text
1gb data
£46mth
Orange
24mth
Unlimited mins
Unlimited text
2gb data
£41
However i've had some issues;
First my Data speeds were capped to 1.8 meg. regardless of E/3G/H/H+ always 1.8meg. I researched this problem, somne said it was being on T-Mobile signal, however after some further investigation, I have found out about GPRS Premium, it's a service for the iPhone users supposedly, but after having this instated i'm now able to reach 4.9meg. So if your speeds seem poor phone CS and ask for GPRS Premium on your account. It's free so there is no reason for them to not added it nor will it cost you.
Brings me to my first question, while a bit of a wide one, what sort of speeds should I expect from Orange? When on O2 I managed to hit 6.2meg. Have you guys found any Modems that work with Orange particularly well? as I find the signal is okish, but O2 was a good 4-5 bar signal.
Now i'm on Panther Extra 41, and get a free swappable, any advise from anyone who added one and how good they are
The only two I like is the Mobile TV and Dezzer Music. however i'm not sure which to choose.

I get 1.87 meg download (just tested it) on Orange. Sometimes I get 2.5meg but rarely. Hurry up 4g.
Coming back to your "good deal", how many minutes and texts do you use a month? Do you really need unlimited and to pay so much each month? For example, I pay £19 month and get 800 minutes, 1000 texts and 1gb data. Thirteen hours of calls a month and 35 texts a day is more than enough for me. Just never heard someone paying £41 a month calling it a good deal. (But then again I'm not a new customer)
I use over a 1gb data a month, that is my reasoning, plus magic numbers for GF to me are always extremely useful.
Appreciated £40 isn't cheap but it's better than my O2 contract.

F***.... I'm happy I live in a country where 45 Euro/month gives me a flatrate not some capped plan.
2GB is what I usually use in less than a week of normal usage, or when playing around with new ROM's within 2-3 days.
You were had.
I used to be with Orange but there are a few things I have issues with them:
Their prices are atrocious. For £33 a month (£29 for the phone) on Three I have:
2,000 minutes (UK to UK, landland, mobile, etc)
5,000 Three-to-Three minutes
3,000 Texts
Unlimited data (2Mbps+)
On Orange I paid £30pm for
300 minutes
500MB data
Unlimited texts
Now, I won't be using anything near those number of minutes and stuff on my new contract, but I will hammer the living **** out of that unlimited data, it was £32 for 500 mins, 5000 texts unlimited data, or £33 for that, plus tethering free) no brainer.
They rip you off on upgrades and the likes. For instance, last time I called to upgrade they were offering the HTC Desire for £25pm Free on a similar contract to myself. When I called to upgrade the "best" they could do is drop £5 off my bill and make me pay £50 for the phone. I effectively got it for £25pm, but had to pay, whereas "new customers" got the phone free.
That £5 a month they knocked off my bill? First it lasted 18 months of a 27 month contract, then they, after arguing the **** with me, upped it to 24 months. After that they flat out refused to help me. I called to buy out of my final two months the other day and their retentions team were pulling out all the stops to get me to sign. I told them I wanted a Galaxy S3 for £25 and they're like "yeah that's gonna cost you £199.99 for the same package with 500mb data" so I told them to go forth and multiply and got my data package with Three (unlimited, good fecking bye 500mb data cap and overage charges).
Finally, 250mb, 500mb, 750mb, 1GB and 2GB data caps? Get out. Unlimited like Everything Everywhere's other company, T-Mobile, or get out.
I had a good run with Orange for 5 years but their ****ty customer service, prices and packages put me off.
The only GOOD thing about Orange was OrangeCare insurance. £6pm and £15 excess.
I wouldn't say you got a good deal, on three I get 2000 minutes, 5000 three to three minutes, 5000 texts and unlimited data for £34/month the unlimited data is what makes it worth it, and I will never use that many minutes and text.
Edit: my data usage is currently at 1.86GB from 14th to 19th July, so if I was on a 2GB plan I would be paying very soon.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well if you say so guys,
Three is a waste of space where I live, unlimited maybe but poor signal, and when it's good it's capped. If it works for your good though, but here its crap.
T-Mobile nah after there throttling, and diabolical service I just couldn't do it.
Basically it was O2 or Orange, and Orange was better. Anyways you got any idea about Basebands/Modems?
Orange's customer service suck. I was with them for 5 years and they just suck.
And yeah, 1.09GB used since the 17th. 2 days. I had a 500MB cap with Orange. I get 2.5Mbps (which is the same as I got on Orange, and 0.5Mbps more than my landline broadband lol) down and 1.5Mbps up means I'm using this as my PC internet now when everyone else is playing games on their computers (Castleville destroys our 2mbps internet).
I've no idea about modem firmwares, but I can safely say Orange suck for customer service.
And sorry to thread crap a little bit but I'm still a bit pissed at my recent dealings with them. Good luck with your new baby I'm loving mine!

You'd be better of getting a retention deal (See an example here) and buying the phone out right on a long term interest free credit card.
Make sure you pay of the credit card balance monthly, making at least the minimum payment.
You might even get some money by taken out certain credit cards through Topcashback or Quidco.
Here's an example - Halifax 24/24 (0% interest for the first 24 months on purchase and balance transfers). There are others available.
The deal you put the link to was offered to a guy who wanted to leave Ee, they always offer better deal to keep customers.

If you have BT I think that sim_only_deal for £20 with 20gb data and unlimited everything sound good. They run on the EE network which they are in the process of buying if I heard right.
If you spend time in big cities then or travel a lot then 3 sim_only_deal can be amazing for data as well. Unlimited everything for £27 which you can negotiate down. But customer can be cold.
02 speeds and deals don't match value especially when you can get on giff gaff. But if it's the strongest network around your area then you might have to consider them.
Vodafone is another offering good deals with free 6 months skysports depending on coverage being good in your area.
Anyone share some good sim only deals too please.

I did the same about year and a half ago. I currently get 500 texts, 500 mins any network and 3GB data for £9.99. My wife has the same and it's more than enough for us.
Just upgraded on EE,as I was upgrading wife's SIM only as well and getting a new SIM only deal for my daughter .

From mobiles.co.uk I got -
Free phone, 10gb data and unlimited texts/minutes for £39 a month and that's with o2. It was cheaper me doing this than buying the phone and getting a sim only deal.
I have a similar deal (but with much less data) from mobiles.co.uk, unlimited calls and texts with 3gb data for £30 a month on o2. With automatic cashback it works out at just over £28 a month. I think that is a bargain, ee could only give me something similar for over £40. I am amazed that it seems to be better to have a contract this year rather than buy the phone sim free.
Just buy the phone outright and take a SIM only deal, this always seems the better option to me these days and you don't get carrier firmware either (yes they will change it for wifi calling)
I got this from EE:
phone = 450
plan = 7.50/m (500min, unlimited text, 1gb data)
24month cost for comparison = 630
Not sure you can get much better than this for a phone direct from google
sg86, what do you mean about carrier firmware being added with WiFi calling? My nexus is from mobiles.co.uk with o2 and I've wondered about using their TU service. The phone is as vanilla as you like, as though straight from Google.
I went for buying the phone outright, and I wanted the 64gb option as I didnt think I could cope with 32gb and a BT sim only deal (im a BT customer) which was :-
64gb Nexus 6p = £499.00
BT Sim Only deal 2gigs of data, 500 mins, unlimited texts,
with a £20 amazon voucher thrown in (12 month contract)
£11 x24 = £264
Total = £ 763
Over 24 months = £31.79 per month
If you include the £20 amazon voucher (£743) = £30.95 per month
