Help with Kernels - HTC Rezound

Hello,
I am fairly decent at rooting and installing custom ROM's aka "I haven't bricked any of my devices yet". Yet I don't know anything about using custom Kernels or even how to change your kernel. If someone could link me some good info I would appreciate it.

[Discussion] Rooting (insecure kernel) and building JB ROM for Player 3.6

Basically what I'm trying to do is make an insecure/rooted kernel and a custom ICS ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6. I don't have enough knowledge and experience to do this completely on my own, so if anyone's willing to help that would be great.
For rooting I know that because it's 2.3.6 there's no universal way to root. I've heard that the only way to root 2.3.6 is by flashing an insecure, or rooted kernel, while I'm savvy enough to flash the kernel and/or provide the files, I have no idea how to build one.
For a custom ICS ROM it's the same, I'm savvy enough to flash a ROM and provide files, but not even close to knowing how to build one. I'd like the ROM based off of CM10, if possible.
I'm willing to test out anything remotely stable that doesn't have a large chance of bricking my device. I know the amount of people who are interested in this is small, but we will all be very grateful.
I thought most custom roms automatically allowed the user root access. After all, managing users and permissions is a function of the kernel, which gets replaced when you flash a new rom, doesn't it?
Of course, there is a very good chance I'm mistaken or just wrong. Either way, this is a great chance to learn the how's and why's of droid development.

Sorry if it didn't seem clear, but in the end I'm wanting to create a custom ICS ROM, but right now I'm wanting to at least root.

[Q] Overclocking Galaxy Player 3.6

After searching for weeks on end I have finally given up and decided to ask for assistance.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6 USA. It runs Gingerbread 2.3.6 and I'm using a stock rom that is rooted which I obtained from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864741
Now, in order to overclock I am well aware that I need a kernel that will allow for overclocking. I also need a kernel that supports my specific device and my Android version. With that, I have Googled, searched here, and pretty much looked in every crack of the internet trying to find a kernel that works. Out of sheer frustration I had actually trying out Tegrak Kernel, which failed miserably but luckily I kept the link above handy to restore my device.
I understand that there have been many issues with trying to develop on this thing and that the community is very small for this device. I see people overclocking their 4.0s and 5.0s and it really disappoints me that other versions can be overclocked but this one can't [at least to my research]. I have looked through these forums up and down and can't find crap. Rooting was difficult enough until I found that one post, and now overclocking is proving to be almost impossible. Is there ANY overclocked kernel out there that would work on my device that I could have possibly missed? Is there any developer currently working on a custom overclocked kernel for this device?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

[Q] GSMart G1345 Gingerbread 2.3.5 to any 4.x update

I have unique phone type witch dont have any custom roms or anything developed yet. I've rooted it. I've looked alot of forums searching for some custom roms or any possibility to make ROM bymyself but its really hard working on such old compilation. This phone have pretty smillar build to Wildfire S. I've tried porting it to these roms but all i get is errors in CWM. My question is: Is there any possibility to upgrade this android to any 4.x? Any tutorials or guides will be helpfull too. Thanks

[Q] Where do we stand with?

Hey guys. I'm thinking of gettring a G3 I haven't really messed around with rooting or custom roms in a few years. I was wondering if it's possible to root and load a custom on this phone? This phoine seems awesome... Is there a definitive guide or thread somewhere? I took a look and I'm not fully understanding all the terminology. Thanks!

Yeah, it's all rather simple to do also. You may have to downgrade to KK to root the phone, but after that everything gets gravy! Each model has a decent selection of AOSP and stock-based ROMs as well. The device specific threads should have tutorials on how to downgrade, root, and bump your device so that you can load that custom ROM you want.

Custom Rom for a generic tablet!

I have an em749 that I've successfully rooted. I'd like to overclock it, but, my knowledge on kernels is debilitating. Horrifyingly insufficient.
Has anyone any wisdom they'd find pleasure in parting with?
