Same here. I really don't like TWRP, so I'm hoping this is solid shortly.

who built this? might as well wait for official as i know koush is working on rebuild recoveries for over 90 devices, im sure the new n7 will be in there soon

Didn't work. It reboots my system instead of going to Recovery.

a. Recovery Clearly doesn't work.

One other note
Just one other note about recoveries and kernels.
It's preferable with new stuff, to use the following fastboot command if device allows it.
Code:
fastboot boot recovery xxxxxxxx.img (where xxxxxxx is name of recovery)
This way, the recovery doesn't get installed to the device and you can check if it will even boot.
Just a tip to remember.

Phone wont boot any rom

I tried booting various sense and aosp roms, but my phone won't boot past the flying 3d or any other boot animations. Can someone please help? I tried wiping everything. It worked at first but it doesn't now.
I think this belongs in the questions part of the thread.(Im sure a mod might move it) Other than that can you even do a Nandroid restore?

i tried that too. I think it has to do something with flashing a bad kernel
Ok in order for anyone to help you more could you please tell which hboot you have, also specify further about your problem. For example: does your phone just freeze at some point or does the bootscreen keep running and never gets past it or is it taking over the world or what?

it keeps freezing at the flying 3d animatio.
I think you should re-post this in the questions and answers part of the thread and leave this one alone. Otherwise theres gonna be ppl that will "flame" you and say that we have a section for questions and answers. Technically of course it doesnt belong here anyways. Just re-post it over there too and for some reason ppl will be more willing to help you.
ok heres your fix
1-take the rom of your choice put in your sd card
2-then take boot.img out of your rom and recovery.img of your choice and place it in android-sdk/platform-tools
(rename recovery u have to recovery.img then place it in android-sdk/platform-tools)
3-if runing widows hold shift and right click then open with command prop
4-then reboot your phone into fastboot (make sure u have fastboot drivers installed)
5- then type this in command prop
fastboot flash boot boot.img
after its done type this
fastboot boot recovery.img
then it will take u into recovery then do all wipes and flash rom of your choice
and enjoy
hope this helps u

You can take the boot.img piece out that is not needed. Once you power on phone holding power and volume down, choose fastboot, connect usb, and just do fastboot boot recovery.img this will give you full access and when you flash the rom, it will install kernel and all necessary files.

I didn't think that was needed. What exactly does fastboot flash boot boot.img do?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
There is a limitation with HTC's unlock, recovery does not have permission to write to the boot partition, this is where the kernel goes. What this means is that you can't flash a kernel through the normal recovery. Which also means that you can't flash a ROM that requires a custom kernel. There are two ways that I know of to work around this. One is to just flash the kernel(boot.img) from fastboot, the other, and easier way is to boot recovery from fastboot and just do everything from there.

My 3D is not yet rooted, but you should be able to flash everything you need without a computer. You will need Flash Image GUI, which is found in the market, or can be downloaded via the XDA post. It's JoeyKrim's program.

You're either just going to have to use "fastboot boot recovery.img" (without quotes and where recovery.img is whatever the CWM file is named) instead of "fastboot flash recovery.img" or you will have to find a recovery.img that is small enough to actually flash. If you just use the boot method, this means you will have to reflash it every time you need something done with CWM.

Hi thank you for your reply. I used fastboot boot recovery CWM6046-MotoG44.img but it cannot load recovery. I did read somewhere about sparse chunks in the US being 123 and 012 in the UK whatever that means. Is there anything else i can try?
I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone, i really wanted to try some custom roms but without CWM its not possible
PS I am in the UK.

Looks like you'll need the more updated version of CWM - 6.0.4.7 as that is built with Kit Kat sources and works with both 4.3 and 4.4 bootloaders. Or you can use the new TWRP 2.7.0. You can find links from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608377
Hope this helps!

Thank you tried the updated versions but still won't load. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I type in ADB DEVICES thats working fine then FASTBOOT DEVICES thats working too then i type in the recovery image but i get" ERROR CANNOT LOAD"
When i download the recovery image do i need to burn it onto a disk? I tried doing this but it says Disk image isn't valid.
Doesn't look like i'm going to be able to solve this problem.

[Q] Padfone X T00D, "Can't Load Invalid boot image" Solution?

Hello,
I just purchased this phone knowing that it has this problem and I am trying to fix it but I do not know much about the original firmware or anything except of the following:
SKU: 6233A, MFG: 2014/05/30, HW: R1.6
I need to restore the Firmware and preferably be able to use the Dock Station (reason I bought it).
I also like to use it with T-Mobile and do not know if these phones are locket to ATT or not.
I am not a developer but have good technical knowledge.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you

Hopefully you can enter in to fastboot mode.
Try to reflash this ATT_userdebug rom from TWRP recovery, and then restore this backup.
1. Turn on the fastboot mode(vol up + power), plug in the cable to PC, open CMD, Boot in to twrp(fastboot boot recoveryyouchoose.img) and use "adb push filename.zip /sdcard"
2. install .zip then reboot
3. boot up, then boot back to TWRP recovery, make a backup.
4. boot up, copy the downloaded backup, boot back to recovery
5. restore it.
hope it works

To find out, you have to put your phone into fastboot.
To do that power down your phone, then hold volume up and power button at the same time. There, the asus logo will pop up like normal and hang on that screen to show that you are in fastboot mode.
Open up command prompt and verify your device is connected, by typing in fastboot devices.
If it shows up good then all you have to do is type in fastboot oem device-info.
If it says device unlocked: true that means your BL is unlocked.
If its not, you have to download crowlock from the cm12 thread and flash it.
It works better with cwm but since you are stuck its worth a shot to flash it under old twrp.
Then check the BL status again, if its good great.
You could restore your device from some backups posted or if you could find a boot.img from the stock image, you could use the new version of twrp to flash the boot image under image flashing.
This is the adb/fastboot driver I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979

Nice to hear that.
Well it depends if you want to install one or you want to keep it stock.
For keeping it stock unfortunately you must restore from backups posted.
If its custom well Cm is a good way, just the dock does not work, but it will work hopefully soon when the developer receives it soon.

Dont worry about the asus_toon, it will turn back into padfone x when you are finally able to restore to the at&t factory rom
What is very strange,is that you cannot wipe certain things, I guess It may be due to a tampered bootloader. (something must have tripped it up)
My bootloader is unlocked but not tampered.
But the reason why it says ASUS_T00N is because you installed cm or miui and it changed build prop and the partitions. (all of quarx roms are built from the pfs source but work on the pfx too) its not a big deal don't worry.
Have you tried any other recoveries, perhaps the older version of twrp Here
Try booting them through fastboot using the fastboot boot filename.img (of the recovery file that should be located inside a folder containg fastboot/adb files)
See if they can wipe cache data(no media) and system. Remember, booting from fastboot is just temporary
Then try flashing a rom, doesnt matter what it has to be but it should work after its done. Maybe flash without gapps, it could sometimes cause a random problem and besides you can always install it later.
I never had to use fastboot to wipe cache either because well I could do that in recovery, plus its safer

Rooting has nothing to do with flashing. Put it in bootloader mode and flash a recovery. Then try doing a factory reset. If that doesn't work, re-flash the ROM.

No offence, but you need to do more research and know how this stuff works before flashing things.
I can't answer your question because I don't know what you are trying to flash. Ask in the thread where you found it. If it's a custom ROM, TWRP Will work. If stock, stock recovery is best.
I'm signing off for a while. Good luck.

well that's why you need to unlock bootloader first before attempting to root your phone. and know what you are doing (flashing). With all that said if you can still boot to Recovery then flash this Full ROM (save this on an SD card) that should stop the bootloop and have a working ROM

if you can still access bootloader then simply just boot TWRP from it, first download this full rom and save it on your SD card
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087013219
then go to bootloader if you can still access it and boot TWRP
fastboot boot [whatever your twrp name is].img
you can download modified twrp here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=16464
then once inside TWRP just install the FULL ROM that was downloaded and saved in the SD card/
My phone boots into fastboot ok but there is no recovery wont boot. I try to flash recovery and it says it cant because not unlocked tried unlocking bootloader says its sucesfull but phone wont get bast boot logo.

To get rid off of TWRP you flash Stock Recovery.
I think the correct command sequence is
Code:
adb reboot
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery <STOCK-RECOVERY-IMAGE-FILE>
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
Search for the appropriate Stock Recovery image by yourself. GIYF ...
If you instead want to re-flash Stock ROM then the correct command sequence would be
Code:
adb reboot
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash-all <STOCK-ROM-IMAGE-FILE>
fastboot reboot
Try going back to stock (Fastboot/download mode/Odin, depending on the device)
Thank You!
I have successfully went to fastboot mode and flashed the stock rom! Thank you for your support!! ?? The phone is working now in the Android 7.
BUT,
now if i install twrp custom recovery, i don't know what happens, after restarting to system i cannot boot to system , it just shows the boot animation and just goes off or sometimes it boots to fastboot mode.
then if i flash the stock rom again using the sd card in the the default recovery mode after flashing that stock recovery, it works again.
Also if I install TWRP recovery, TWRP could not install any Roms ! it just says that Updater process ended with error 6 or 7 randomly.
So, how do I install custom recovery and roms in it now?

Assumed the TWRP.IMG you use is the correct one, then there is no need to install TWRP recovery, booting into it is fully enough - this will preserve device's Stock Recovery
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot boot <TWRP.IMG>
The TWRP is booting perfectly! But if I install any zip file i.e ROM or Mods, it says that Updater process ended with error 6 or 7!!
This is the problem with TWRP.
And, if install TWRP in the phone, then restart the phone , if I restart to system, it doesn't work ,just it shows the boot animation and turns off.

This is not TWRP recovery related, but it's related to the Custom ROM zip-file you try to flash: The ROM zip-file you try to flash isn't made for your device.
