[Q] i9300 NV Data information. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After reading about how CDMA devices were able to have modified IMEI information, I was curious about the GSM variants such as mine, the i9300.
I've looked all over XDAdev and can't find information about modifying this version (which we have in the UK).
I have one which I want to manually corrupt the IMEI data on, the phone has a broken screen, but I can plug into a good screen temporarily. The phone in question is rooted but I can't remember what firmware its running, I believe it is JB (stock ROM).
Am I missing something blatently obvious or is it just not possible with the UK variant of the SGS3?
Thanks.

Modifying IMEI is illegal and as such discussion is not allowed on XDA .

Imei Clone!!!

Hey all!
One of my friend purchased a Galaxy S3 lately. He bought it online and the price was unbelievable. although I warned him not to buy but he insist when he saw the price.
Anyway, he realised that he can not update via Kies and also cant get the OTA. soon he understood, he was using a costum rom. Then he checked the IMEI and the result was suprising. that IMEI written on the phone and and system shows are totally different. he online checked the IMEI and it belongs to nokia 6600
now here is the question: is there any possibility to get back the orginal IMEI and install a stock rom?

No its illegal to clone IMEI and strictly forbidden to post about on XDA .
Your friend needs to return to the seller .If its not a stolen phone then it is probably a fake or blacklisted IMEI that someone has played about with .

OK I will tell you the whole story..in Turkey, if you bought you cell phone from a different country, for security reasons you should register that IMEI with your passport, and for once you should pay nearly $50 tax. or else the GSM provider blocks the phone.
I guess that phone was unregistered and the seller tought to solve this problem by cloning the IMEI with an old phone. I am saying old phone because that IMEI should only be one in the network. two same IMEI means two blocked phones.
all I want to know is there any solution to get back the original IMEI that written on the phone. I am not talking about the cloning the IMEI.
Connect your phone to your Pc, and watch out for a folder called EFS.
If you're lucky and the custom rom was installed had the function, the original IMEI was backed up to this folder. Find inside the IMEI data. and compare with the one on the phone. If they are different, you're a lucky *bastard* ;D
good luck
EDIT: But I cant say what file contains the imei. Just looked at my phone and couldnt find a file that contains it. Maybe some dat file or something like that. but it could be in hex

[Q] GS3 Canadian user seeking which version to use

Hi Guys,
Brand new Galaxy S3 user here and I've just Rooted my phone and I'm searching around on which ROM to flash. Only issue is that I have no idea which version I need in terms of ROM. I know when rooting my phone I followed a different guideline and I don't want to fubar up my phone. I'm with Rogers and I know I followed a US/Canadian guide...
When looking on the get.cm website I saw this
d2usc
Samsung Galaxy S III (US Cell)
which seems to be the closest thing to me but I just want to be sure.
Thanks,
This is International I9300 forum flashing firmware from here may brick another model .

What is the exact model number of your phone? (can be found in settings->about device)
SGH-I747M
I've found the SlimBean ROM for my phone but even that took a while to hunt down.
I tried searching on get.cm but I've found that it never actually gives me my provider (Rogers).

baseband version: I9300XXEMG4

It IS SIM locked.
If you have updated to mg4, no tools can unlock.

Dont post IMEI or SN unless you want your details stolen .
#
One if locked it would be locked to sunrise / the original network .
Two baseband and csc would be different in a different country .
Suggest you hunt out a thread or forum that deals with your location for the correct firmware and modem .

no, i'm still stuck.....
Didn't you used to be able to cut a section out of the sim and what identifies the sim lock in the sim no longer exists?
Well I phrase that as a question, but the answer is yes. The real question is whether that is still possible and whether it works with regional locks

yes, when the dialog box to enter unlock code appear, i can cancel it and there are no networks (sos call only). identification about region locks:
1. the label on the box about region lock
2. i bought the phone from switzerland, i try and it working well with switzerland sim card (i use this sim also for first activation) and also with italian sim card works fine, so it's not sim locked
3. with indonesian sim card --> no network, sos call only
4. bring it to samsung authorized dealer in jakarta, indonesia, they know about region lock but they reject the phone and say that i need to bring it back to samsung switzerland to unlock it
5. try regional lock away from @Chainfire but the app still doesn't work in my phone
until this moment there are still no solution, now the phone already rooted but still region locked......
I'm curious about the two different screens you're showing in images #3 and #4.
Did they result from different actions on your part?

s3 not registered on network

Hi all ,
i bought s3 i9300 it was a european model with region lock my sim in egypt worked on it , i tried to flash another stock rom after that my sim didn't work and if i try to make any call it tells me not registered on network i tried many apps root every thing on internet that didn't work , i gave it to a guy who used z3x samsung tool and some boxes and cables and he couldn't lock it on 4.1.2 so he downgraded it to ICS 4.0.4 and he managed to make my sim work , is there any way to get back to 4.1.2 and make this network problem go away ? thanks in advance .
Unlikely, if it is network (not region) locked then 4.1 and later will cause it to lock again.
Without the genuine unlock code from the original network you cannot unlock at present, 4.0 will cause SDS to your emmc chip.
Most network registration issues at the moment are caused by people not reading about the efs change, before flashing to EMG rom. This might be your problem as well, read sticky thread in general forum: efs 'know this stuff'.

Changing the IMEI is illegal in most countries. Therefore the discussion thereof is strictly prohibited on xda.
