Notification sounds maddness - HTC EVO 3D

Weird issue came up this morning. Didn't have this before, didn't install anything new, didn't visit any "strange" sites.
Screen is off, but phone lets out a notification sound ( sounds like "click-clack"), didn't get a SMS or a mail, just sounds off now and again. Restarted the phone, automatic sync is off, but i cant for the life of me figure out whats going on. Changed all tones to different ones for a test, and still this same click-clack pops out, screen stays off.
Ideas how to approach this issue? What app to use to check for latest activity using sound or something?

XV6800 Audio Issue - dcd3.2

I am currently running dcd3.2.0, aand Radio 3.42.02. Since my flash of dcd3.16.0, the phone has a weird way of switching itself into silent mode. I dont know why or how, but it goes to silent and none of my calls, messages or etc ring. Has this happened to anyone else? any ideas on how to disable silent or fix it?
Are you running HTC Home? It has a automatic ringer feature that turns off the ringer when your calendar shows an appointment. I know there are a couple other apps that do the same.

Yes I am, is it a feature of HTC home or do I have to uninstall it?
It is a mode on the sound tab called "automatic". Go to the sound tab and see if it is selected. Change it to ring if so.
hmm this is actually happening to me too, but i thought i was just crazy. sometimes my phone will randomly go completely silent, but i don't have any appointments scheduled or HTC home installed. i use profiles with SPB phone suite, and even on the Normal profile, which normally rings and such, the phone wont ring even on this profile. if i select that profile again, even without switching off of it, the rings come back

I removed HTC Home and it is still doing it, is it something in the firmware that can be changed? I've searched the net, and couldnt even find a key as to try and disable the silent setting. Any other ideas?

That's all I have for ideas. Hopefully someone else on here has seen this before. I know there are other applications that do this other than Home, but don't know which ones. Have you tried a hard reset to go back to the default install of DCD without any added CABs? Perhaps it is one of your applications causing the issues. Try running for a couple days without adding any applications and see if you have issues. If not, add them one by one until your problem comes back. Also, if you are going to hard reset anyway, you might as well move to DCD 3.2.2 and radio 3.42.30 while you are at it.

Some weird quirks I've been experiencing

The past couple of days I've been noticing a couple of quirks with my phone and want to make sure that it's either not just me or some kinda bug in the UI.
The first one is with the speaker. In a couple of different games, when I click around, they'll play some sound. But sometimes, and I've only noticed this two separate times in the past week, the sound will interchange between really quiet and normal volume. I know this info doesn't really help much, but I don't know if it's a battery saving feature of the UI or what.
The more troubling issue regarding sound happened to me today. I was in the middle of a game and the sound just turned off completely. It wasn't muted and I clicked on the rocker to see if I had done so by accident, but nothing came out. I even checked with other games and by testing my ringtone. The only way I was able to remedy this was by restarting. I'm hoping these are purely software based and not my phone's speaker dying. :S
The second thing is less detrimental but weird. Two times today, while playing games, the lights on my dedicated button bar on the bottom would be off. I would exit the game, mess around on the home screen but nothing would bring them back aside from locking and unlocking the phone.
These are not complaints by any means, just a couple quirks I've recently come across that are hopefully universal in some form. Pardon my pickiness.
Ive been getting that sound issue also i was using navigation i basically restarted my phonealso

Thanks for your confrimation on that one.
In case anyone is interested, I think I discovered the button bar lighting issue. I notice it being off today and not turning back on. I then realized that based on the ambient brightness, the light sensor on the top of the phone will either light up the bar or not. Pretty awesome way for it to save some battery.
I've had the sound issues as well. Not a deal breaker to me, but annoying. The issue with audio being low when recording video bothers me a lot tho.

I had the sound issue when clicking when I was stock. It was intermittent and reboot would fix the issue. Haven't seen the others but usually play games on mute.
Discovered a couple more quirks over the course of the week. Would like to know of anyone else has experienced them.
I have the Facebook app (not the HTC Sense one) synced with my contacts. This way, I can fill in photos for the contacts I don't have photos for. But for some, I'd like to use the Gmail icon I made for them. I'll switch it in the linked settings, but after a while, it'll revert back to their Facebook icon. I'm assuming this is a bug with how the app syncs with my contacts?
The second thing is in the stock SMS app. Two times now, over the course of the week, I've clicked to open a particular thread and it instead opens up another one in my list that I didn't click on. I'm fairly sure this isn't user error as I've seen the thread that I want to open up highlight, but I could be crazy.

I have had this happen as well. Something is amiss with sound.

Sound problems

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if anyone knows a solution. I am running the stock rom, but its rooted.
I am having problems with notification sounds, these two in particular:
1. In the hangouts app which I use also for SMS my notification sound does not sound when I set a text, it works when I get a hangout message, but not a SMS. I've tried setting it to different sounds and nothing. It vibrates, but no sound
2. Alarms, when my alarm goes off it sometimes only makes a sound for half a second then stops. It keeps vibrating and the screen still shows the alarm going off and I have to swipe the red circle to stop it, but half the time only a blip of sound. Again this is with all the different sounds. The timer also does it but not as often.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
I figured it out. When it was happening I also happened to realize that there was an application running in the background preventing me from turning up my media volume. So I went through all the running app processes and started killing them off until I had control over the media volume. Turned out to be OpenMic+. Uninstalled and now everything works as it should. I am sure there was some setting in openmic causing the problem and I could have probably turned it off but I never use it so uninstall was easier.

[Q] Receiving Notifications While Screen is Off?

I can't seem to figure this one out. I get Words With Friends notifications as soon as I turn the screen on, but not while it's off. The app is on the so-called protected list. Any tips> Thanks

Lol.. I was just trying to figure out the same problem with whatsapp a while ago. Chose keep WiFi on when screen off and another option not so common is under mobile network, there's an option to always keep mobile data on. It's unchecked by default. Check that.
Those were already checked on mine.
Don't know if you already solved your problem, but I use Metro Notifications (the Lite or Free version - sorry, can't post links yet) from the Play Store. It turns the screen on and pops up a thin strip of notification. If I'm not at the phone to see it, the next time I turn it on, the strips are still there to swipe thru.
It was a little irritating at first, as just about everything from the noti panel popped up, but you can easily go thru and check on/off only the apps that you want to see. I did try the devs other app which was similar (more Windows phone style) but stuck with Metro in the end.
HTH,
Mike
Same for me. Go sms is checked in the protected apes list but I get notifications only part of the time.
What power profile are you using?
I also had this issue with kakaotalk and yahoo mail, missing notifications while phone's being charged overnight. I fixed it(I think) by not using both battery saving modes, smart and endurance, and checked all apps in protected apps setting.
Edit-also stopped using smartcover flipcase.

That's why I was asking what power profile they were using.

No notification sounds are working..

So for some reason my Note 8 isn't giving any notification sounds. It doesn't vibrate, either. What does work is device sounds and incoming phone calls, during which sound/vibrate are both working as expected.
This is a new issue as of ~3 days ago. The only thing I can think of that would cause this is that I recently encrypted my SD card. Has anybody else experienced this? I'd like to keep my sd encrypted, but if it means that I can't receive notifications, I'll just have to bite the bullet.
I've checked my sound settings, notification volume is turned up. I've confirmed that all apps are enabled for notifications, and that a sound is set for each notification type. Interestingly enough, when I try changing a notification sound, my phone doesn't play the notification, it just stays silent.
Let me know what you think I should do, I appreciate everyone who took the time to read through my rant. lol.

Settings>apps>messages> scroll down to 'app settings' and make sure notification says ALLOWED. Some how my wifes Note 8 got switched off and we dealt with same issue. Hope this helps.
What he said,i have had the same issue as well, there is another setting for pushing buttons while the phone is in your pocket as well
