ruh roh...corrupted my NAND. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

So I had root and a customer recovery. I flashed back to stock because I was bored and wanted to clean things up.
Now when I go to root using casual, it errors out saying it can't transfer the PIT file. OK no biggie. I go to Odin the recovery image and that errors out too saying the NAND write failed. Hmmmm...well I left CWM recovery, so I try to boot into that. I get a NAND error there too. Ruh Roh.
So I can't flash using Odin or Casual. How do I fix this?

yea that's when Odin gives me the NAND write error

So I got past that but now it just hand at "loading pit file".

Try flashing the PIT and/or the other files with the NAND Erase checked in Odin and see if that fixes your issue.

I did cell phone repair for a long time, specializing in screen replacement. The GN2 is very easy to open and if you have the right tools, you won't leave a scratch.
But I'm pretty sure mine came loose due to a factory defect.

Handset not taking recognising sim after Odin Nand Erase all
hi,
i wanted to remove all the files from the handset and make it new one hence i used odin with PIT file and 4.1.2 stock rom with Nand Erase all. after successful completion, the handset wont consider the SIM rather it will show "Searching for Network" always...also the IMEI, SPC etc configurations are lost....please help to regain the phone capability of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-i605).

I don't care if I go back to stock unrooted I can re-root another time, but at least then I'll know how to un screw it if needed.

OK so basically I'm a moron I saw the enoxys abuse app (I'm sure I spelt that wrong) and without thinking I rooted with it since I won't have my computer working till tomorrow. So being rooted I get the brilliant idea to download goo manager and push a recovery because "it was that simple on my gnex ." So now I have the lovely Verizon warning. I know I fix that with Odin but idk the files to use. Yea I did something dumb because my last two phones were virtually unbrickable. I'm hating myself for not reading but yea can someone please point me to a guide or just tell me what to do? Thank you in advance and feel free to make fun and say I deserve it
Edit: Is there anyway to fix this and not totally wipe my phone?

No, I dont see how. If you flash something in Odin (which seems like your only option) you rewrite everything on the device (excluding the external sdcard) in accordance with the specifications of the file you are flashing.

I have followed every direction and used every recovery rom even the stock rom. The stock rom will not even load in Odin all I get is a invalid bienary error. I really don't know what to do at this point. Thanks

Aaaaand that's why you don't flash anything that's not made specifically for your phone, unless you know it's compatible. Sorry for your loss though. Can you get into download mode? Guess it's too late now, if you already sent it back, but I'm sure you tried to Odin back to stock..

Kinda like me I still use my S3 as a backup phone for streaming music on Wi-Fi/hotspot, playing games, hooking it up to my tv, and flashing ROM's when I get an itch, and don't feel like changing my current Note setup. I really like the Galaxy Mod ROM for the S3 mainly because it has Multiwindow, which I can no longer live without!
Sent from my Inverted Beans ROM @ 240 DPI
So, you flashed a Note 2 kernel that is for an Exynos SoC to the SGS3, which is a Qualcomm SoC? I'm not sure why anyone would even think to try this in the first place, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to warn everyone. Also, this is exactly the reason VZW locks the bootloader, because people do things like this and then get warranty replacements.
As for fixing it, you should be able to, but you likely need a USB jig to force it into download mode, then a full Odin tar plus a PIT file so you can re-partition properly.
Exactly what imnuts said. People sending their phones back for warranty replacement due to mistakes THEY made themselves is exactly why verizon is locking bootloaders and why rooting voids your warranty. If people took responsibility for their own actions, the rest of us wouldn't have to pay for the consequences.
Should change the title to I bricked my phone by flashing a kernel that was not made for my phone. The kernel did not brick your phone you did by making a really bad decision.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad, too.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
This may be the most ridiculous thread I've seen in a long time. But only the fact instead of paying for his mistake he thinks some how is Samsung responsibly, but how completely ridiculous he was to knowingly flash a note 2 kernel on a s3.
op why do you think there are different sub forums for phones and even carriers. You're probably one of the people who flashed an international ROM too. ...Then sent your hard bricked phone in for warranty

Help a n00b out?

Just got my Galaxy Note 2 today..been trying to root it. Unsuccessful. At this point I'm just saying screw it and wanting to go back to stock.
When I boot the phone up it gets to the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen and just keeps flashing that every 2-3 seconds. PC recognizes it, Odin recognizes it, can enter download mode.
Everything I try in Odin FAILS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest thing is, just stay relax. It WILL get fixed, it's almost impossible to permanently brick it as long as you stay calm.

Pull the battery or use thr Power Off button in TWRP. Then put your micro Sd card in your laptop and drag and drop the rom. Then put it back in your card and go.
You are supposed to check the MD5sum EVERY SINGLE TIME! If you arent going to check the MD5sum then you don't need to flash any roms to your phone, you can seriously mess up and hard brick your phone.

Usually they will have a fake card in them to keep the slot from getting dust in it. If you truly don't have one you can pick up a USB SD card reader from walmart for cheap. If you want dont want to go that route then ADB would probably be the fastest way of doing it.

That's always been my experience also but recall quite a few help threads that started with someone flashing a rom and then the phone hard bricking upon reboot. Every single time in those threads where all that had been done was a simple rom flash the only thing we could come up with was the MD5 was bad and every time it was checked it was bad. If I recall it was only 2 roms doing that and both were AOSP roms. I dont know why but that was always what it was traced back to with those 2 certain roms and no one could figure out why it wasn't simply failing instead of flashing and hard bricking the phone.

I haven't checked an MD5 since 2010 - did it once then.

We're also going off what they say in the thread. We can't prove that is what did it. I'm trying to be nice, but most of those "oh shhh" panic threads are due to user error.
I've flashed so many ROMs over the years and I never check MD5. I also religiously dirty-flash. I've bricked phones half-asleep (putting my kid to sleep) and recovered them in the morning. It all boils down to the user. I'm not saying for people to be reckless, but blaming not checking an MD5 on a brick is fear-mongering.
If it doesn't flash the first time? Check to see if your recovery has an update. Redownload ROM. Try again. Fail twice? Wasn't meant to be, this is not the ROM you are looking for.

Agreed, as that would be the easiest fix. Worst case scenario for this approach is that you may need to buy a usb reader for micro sd cards.

Very true, I was just going off of my experience in the S3 threads and that was my first true experience with a truly bootloader unlocked phone, even though I had been flashing Motorola phones for years but that isn't the same, and from what me and a couple other people could put together on the S3 forums was that 2 AOSP roms were responsible for the hard bricks.
Like you said though it is very hard to tell if they even flashed the rom. Hell it could be that they were just lying because they were embarrassed. Nonetheless it is still for the best for people to check MD5s especially on radios and recoveries and it doesn't hurt to check it on roms. I check the MD5 of every rom that I flash or that I plan on flashing in the future just because of that happening in the S3 forums when I was helping there.
I had never really thought about them lying about it but that is a definite possibility..... It's still funny that it was one of 2 AOSP roms every time someone claimed to get bricked after only flashing a rom......
