[Q] Not sure what the problem was..... - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

So I found my old NT I had since it first came out. I had it rooted and whatnot and something happened to it(I dont remember) and now I tried to install the stock firmware on the device to re-root and now it says Installing software, and then 10 seconds later it shows an exclamation point and it says to restart.
I dont remember exactly what happened, so I cant be much of help. I do think I had a post on here a year or so ago. Anyway is there anything else I can do to fix it? Or should I just throw it out

You could try the repart.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836 (Download in step 1 and jump to step 2 if you already got the sfotware to burn sd)

If I were you I would just follow this guide to install full android:

[Q] Difficutly acquiring root

i've tried the root method for the sticky in the dev. section. One click user just stalls out at step 5 it seems. Elsewise .... how long is step 5 supposed to take? All i have to show for my efforts so far is the old boottriangle. I came from an Epic Touch 4g (which i had no problems rooting). Any helpful suggestions?
Thanks in advance

When it stalls and freezes unplug USB then go into settings uncheck then check USB debugging then plug USB back in. It will finish up the process.

Use superOneClick again and after it stalls out on step 6
simply unplug usb cable from computer for a couple seconds
then plug in back in and bingo you are good to go!
If that doesn't work just download this file and flash in cwm

.apk files are not going to be recognized by Odin. .tar files are recognized by it. If you don't have root but have flashed codeworkx kernel then close Odin download this to your phone hereand flash in cwm
Apk is an application much like .exe in windows
rev. *.tar i think i need to begin with a proper version of odin (which i can't seem to find.) By the way, i can't boot into recovery. had that been the case, i'd already been nandroiding and running CM7
Odin does not see the su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip

Odin will not see the .zip because it only recognizes .tar files lol just said this. Have you already flashed codeworkx Kernel?

i think recovery is vol+, vol-, power
you can also run:
adb reboot recovery
tried everything you guys suggested twice
then, i searched some more and still no luck. Frankly, I am a bit surprised lol .... this is always super easy hahaha
I leave for work shortly - anyone have any insights ? Greatly appreciated (will pay good money for help)

ok, i'm a little confused where you are right now with all this, so I'm going to start over.
1) flash this kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823) but skip the step that roots via superoneclick
2) flash this CWM file to acquire root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286220)
enjoy.

Wait, you flashed my pre-rooted system image tar?
Then there is no need to use SuperOneClick or the CWM kernel - you should be rooted already.
Also, if you flash my kernel instead of the CWM one, it will automatically root you on the first boot.
Thank you guys I certainly appreciate the help. I look forward to flashing root / cm7! Afterall, aside from service, the main reason I switched from Epic Touch 4G.

Compatibility

Hi guys.
I have a question.
Im running stock cf-root, android 2.3.3.
I want to install a custom rom.
Is cyanogenmod compatible?
And is it flashable trough CWM?
Also, if I wipe data before I install a custom ROM, will I lose my backup-data also?
In other words: do I need to save it to my laptop?
Im sure this all have been asked before. But I cant seem to find a proper answer to it.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Also; can I update straight from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 if the rom is that version?.

Full, detailed instructions are exactly where you might expect to find them, in the [NIGHTLY][ROM][GWK74] CyanogenMod 7 (w/ Gingerbread 2.3.7) for Galaxy SII Q&A thread.
i think i just bricked my phone
i can't access recovery and only a blank battery icon with a wheel shows
I followed posted above.
The way with CWM.
Downloaded, wiped everything and installed Cyanogenmod.
_Edit: Android recovery is possible. CWM, just isn't .. What do i do now ?
Did you flash it twice in a row without a reboot, if the first flash was quick, as per the instructions?

It rebooted itself before I could do anything.
I flashed only once.
Then I suggest you re-read the instructions fully and make sure you're doing it right. Steps 1-7, to the letter.

I can't get my phone to boot into CWM Recovery.
Only Android recovery is available, also the phone won't boot normally.
Only the samsung galaxy sII logo is visible at boot.
That's where it hangs..
So did you forget step 2 (and therefore step 3 too)? Can you get your phone into download mode? (volume down+home+power, from off).
I think so yes. (very VERY foolish)
Yes, i can get it in download-mode.
In that case, you can probably perform step 2, though not sure how useful step 3 would be at this stage, and continue.

nope. i can't..
After some time i am now able to run Manual recovery.
Installing from manual recovery gives me a signing error, so that's useless.
Question is now: How can i get my phone to stock including stock bootloader and stock kernel?
I will try to root and flash ROM from that point.

Why can't you? What error do you get trying to perform step 2? I feel like you're not really doing the things you say you are.
Anyway, everything you need for a stock ROM is in Intratech's thread, [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download.

Are you referring to the point @ root?
Because it was rooted before i started.
i messed up @ point 6, not me but my phone.
It rebooted itself after first time flashing.
Now it won't boot properly. it hangs either at the bootlogo from samsung or it just gives me a picture of a blank battery with a wheel in it.
CWM recovery is inaccesible. so i can't just continue the steps.
All i can do now is; get it in download-mode (Vol DWN + Home + PWR) or manual engagement mode. (Vol UP + Home + PWR)

[SOLVED] card board box loop?

I was rooted (using Indirect's method) but i couldnt get into recovery... it would pull up the card board box and then continues to load up... now the damn thing goes to the cardboard box and restarts and just keeps looping over and over... wtf did i do lol what can i do to fix this?
any help is appreciated...
i would make a bootable cm7 rom card and then install recovery flasher and flash stock recovery only if this is a 16gb NT, if this is a 8gb NT you may be bricked
i got the 16gb...just to confirm, i should do the sdcard image install from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481826 ??
if not, please point me in the right direction... thanks!

What's your ultimate goal here? Are you trying to flash CM7 to internal?
yes... i wana run either cm7 or cm9... whatever is easiest from my current situation...
And do you want to have CWM installed internally or do you want the custom recovery only to be run from SD?
again, whatever is easiest and/or best... i'd prefer it on the actual nook...

That's the way I like to do things, too.
So, to do this, you will have to use Indirect's app to install CWM internally. I know it didn't work this first time, but try it again. So try re-flashing CWM using Indirect's app, then try rebooting into recovery.
If this doesn't work, you can try a bootable CWM SD card.
just to confirm, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446987 - method 2 correct?
method two requires the ADB ( android debug bridge ) is working up happy. for me and my nook, i did not get the 'adb' working till two months later. So, i used method one. .
but i think ( imho ) you got or developed something goofy in the sd memory... so, if i were you i would do the 'adam outler' total wipe and clean first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470910
.
for me, getting adb going . . . was driving me nuts ! ( hacking in the registry - ouch ! )
Whoa there, hold off on the total wipe idea! That is only a last resort, in any situation.
Just try to install CWM internally again using Indirect's app. Then report back so that we know that method definitely isn't working for you.

ClockworkMod Recovery counting up, what did I do?

Was following the instructions here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 and dropped my phone after installation of the SU-Busybox-Installer.zip

It got to 60K and I yanked the battery, it booted up fine (thank god) but don't appear to have root.
Guess I'll try again tomorrow, would love to know where that counter came from though.
FYI had I taken a Screenshot it would have just been the lines of text saying the installation from Zip was complete, with a line underneath with a number left justified.
Never did find out the cause for this but I've now used an updated guide for rooting - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794 and this has worked fine using stock recovery.

Good to hear hear that.
Note: if you are running ICS 4.0.4 firmware, please do not wipe anything, or try to backup before flashing a custom kernel. you must flash a custom kernel immediately, I recommend Siyah or Speedmod kernel
