[REQ] Xperia Tablet Z apps - Transformer TF300T Themes and Apps

I would like to have some Sony apps on my TF300T, and so i found some ported stuff: Walkman, Gallery, Video, and some other. Not everything works fine (there are some bugs). So, i'm trying to port apps from Xperia Tablet Z (some work out of the box, like Calculator).
This i'd like to port:
Media Apps:
Walkman
Album
Videos
Dlna
Organizer apps:
Alarm&Clock
Contacts
Email
Calendar
Notes
Xperia Home launcher works, and widgets too, but there are some bugs (FC when selecting walkman widget, FC if you try to select theme).
That's about it.
So if someone has experience with this, and willing to help, by doing some work or giving instructins, please help.
I took the xperia tablet z rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323654
And i'm currently running Energy non themed rom.

+1. I would love to see this on our tablet too. There was a guy working on a Xperia ROM for our tablet but it never came out. I hope some developer can help us

You might find this link interesting. There is a link for small sony apps as well, I'm not sure which apps are included. Maybe the op could give you some insight.

Thanks for reply, i already tried this rom. But i had problems with wifi, and only small apps have been ported (i think). So, no go. We already have good base rom on my device, just need to port speceific apps. Opposite of other proprietary interfaces like touchwiz ot sense, i think that porting sony stuff only comes down to finding all dependencies of a specific app (no coding or smali editing). Is there any tool which can show what are the dependencies of some apk?

I had hoped the op of that thread could give you some insight.
I tried yesterday to port a weather widget from another rom without success. Even watching logs the entire time provided nothing useful. I have also failed to port a keyboard and browser successfully. I deoxed a complete rom in my most recent failed attempt. Everything ran fine on the donor unit but not where I wished to use them.
I'm sure there is such a tool. I'll do some searching and reply if I find anything useful.

Hey do you have finished the port?

No need for him to do this. You can get them from here. Though these are not from the tablet they work fine on the tf300t, I have them on mine with Chromi X:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2059203
The movies app did not work from this so I installed a xperia Z movie app and it works perfectly...it's great for streaming from my home network...
The Movies app does not play MKV files with AC3 audio and I haven't got the visualizer app to work on the Walkman player either yet...
I have used the old Walkman logo rather than the circular one as that's the one I use on my old Sony phone (I think it looks better).
If I get a chance I will upload the files and some instructions on how to install them... (sorry I help look after an autistic toddler and I don't get much of a chance to jump on here)...

[Poll] Why you dislike Timescape & Mediascape?

Seriously, i really wanted to know why u guys dislike Timescape and Mediascape that much up to the level you want to remove them from your Xperia X10.
One of the strong reason i buy mine because of Timescape and Mediascape, because when i compare Android devices, i see that the one heavily customized is the best option compared to stock.
I've been playing with Nexus One, Motorola Dext, Samsung Galaxy S and Sony Xperia X10.
Things that i like with Timescape customization are:
1. Full screen photo on dialer which looks sexy, compared to small square photo in other phones.
2. Timescape apps even though its still very raw, gives you a really good insight of what happening in your social network; even though you cannot reply directly with it.
3. My SingTel Timescape have one more Tile added which is Live Traffic which helps me a lot.
Things that are not in Timescape
1. Reply from the tiles of course
Things that i like with Mediascape customization are:
1. Solid music browser and many grouping, including podcast. I found that its very easy to go from changing playing songs one album to all song belong one artist whenever i want
2. Solid video browser, i groups my videos with podcast grouping
3. Photo viewer with Friends grouping, and face recognition
Things that are not in Mediascape
1. Picasa and Facebook photo in not cached
2. Picasa and Facebook photo doesn't and cannot be face tagged
3. Create playlist is missing
4. Could have SensMe feature in it
So for those who decided to remove the Timescape and Mediascape, can you please enlighten me with the reason. I'm not challenging or provoking you with this thread. I just want to know why?
I don't mind Mediascape, but have no reason to use Timescape, and pleased that it can actually be removed in 2.1.
Hi,
I uninstalled them both for these reasons:
1) I don't use any social network, so I have no reason to use Timescape.
2) Back on 1.6 it always bothered me, when I was going "back" from call log and Timescape opened even if I didn't wanted it.
3) Mediascape looks damn good, noone can say it doesn't, but it's the only good thing about it. It has no equalizer (which is critical for me), therefore the sound it produces is not quite good.
4) For viewing images I'll use the default gallery as it has the same functions as Mediascape and looks pretty good as well.
5) Mediascape plays only .3gp and .mp4 videos and it has almost no options for playing video.
Basically, those apps aren't so good and sofisticated, that you couldn't find better on the market (or web). So I would prefer SE to release them as optionaly downloadable content.
I hope this explanation is sufficient
Both are slow and laggy.
JustPictures is better as image viewer.
Vplayer or Rockplayer are better as video players.
PowerAMP or MixZing are better as audio players.
Timescape would be nice but:
1. i don't see it displaying email from gmail app.
2. for facebook/twitter can't be configured to open them with my preferred app.
3. i don't see google talk messages
4. can't be extended (at least officially) to add rss feeds or other social networks (not that i use any)
I like their look but the functionality sux.
Timescape just isn't effective for what it does. If I want updates on something i'll go to that specific app. Just because they are collected into pretty tiles doesn't make it effective.
Mediascape I would like if browsing through it wasn't so slow. And for music there are better apps with more features.
But what one wants out of an app is always different.

Someone else said they had and didn't suffer the same issue that was in 1.6, so decided to freeze it instead to see how I got on, and not had the same issue or any other for that matter.

I tried all apps except VPlayer (cannot find in market).
I liked the equalizer in poweramp and mixzing, and the responsiveness of JustPictures.
For Rockplayer, i would still say i prefer having thumbnail instead of file explorer
I guess i'm more being patient with laggyness here and there in trade of nice user interface
Then i see that most of you replied here are not using any social network, which of course the Timescape will not serve you any use. point taken
It just that i see that from the first day we got X10 rooted, i see devs are putting the Timescape and Mediascape removal in their script, seen a lot of people trying to remove them all. I feel like.. "hey if you don't like them, why buy the phone in the first place", but of course because i am more tolerant to laggyness of course

Best Music Player, MusicMod for x10 mini

Hi.. not sure if this has been posted here previously but I have replaced the standard x10 mini music player with musicmod v1.6
Do a Google search "musicmod v1.6" the first link should be the application to download.
You need to copy the application ( apk ) into system/app ... backup or rename any existing files if they have the same name as the apk just in case this does not work for you...
You will then need to reboot your phone to see the app in your app drawer.
I have this working on x10 mini 2.1 and use the music app widget to select tracks...
Also the 3d Gallery apk works on the x10 mini too...
Is there any way to do this without being rooted?
Works on mini pro but resolution problem (album art is not fully displayed).
But the widget 4X2 is b utiful
Do you have any solution to adapt the display ?

please upload the forum. musicmod 1.6 in google search can't run with fw 2.0.2.A.0.24
This neeed to be edited for our x10 mini's
Music Mod works on the latest x10 mini firmware. Some of the custom ROMS incorporate music mod in them.
I got rid of the original music player because it is a POS.
I don't have any issues with the album art on my X10 mini
I have updated my phone software to latest, then rooted and installed app2sd and everything works except musicplayer, allways showing empty music library...I have mp3 files in Music folder on sd card (/sdcard/music/album1) ...they work if I open root explorer and start 1 song then it plays...I tried other music players but with same problem...

Can you post the .apk you used?
for minimalistic player widget without deleting the stock, try Phantom Music Control
Yea, i replaced my Stock SE music player too.
U can find link to Music Mod 1.7.2 here
you need root access if you want to REPLACE stocked SE player, if not, it works just fine..
There are many great music apps. I haven't found a single one with a decent equalizer since the Mini Pro natively lacks it. The only exception is PowerAMP, costs a cent but worth it.
can you post screenshots please?

Default music app

When we got 2.1 there was a guy who made an apk that could let you have the generic music app available aswell as the 3d gallery
is this available for 2.3.3
If I'm right the standard music player for Android is the one you get with the ROM only it is modified by SE. Maybe you can grab the music player from an AOSP Gingerbread ROM.
But now you're asking this, Titanium Backup shows there is a soundrecorder present on the phone. Only you can't see it in your app drawer, is there some kind of way to make it visible there?
No
the default music app is in there aswell. some guy made an apk that made it un hidden

Cheers Pilot, was looking for the same thing.

DESPERATELY looking for a lightweight and simple music player !!!

Hello,
Please help me to find the music player I'm looking for. My requirements:
- A clean playlist (no artists, no genres, no album arts, no ratings, no lyrics, JUST FILENAME)
- An equalizer
- To be controlled by the handsfree button (play/pause and next track by double-click. More clicks - highly appreciated)
The closest to this idea of mine, which I was able to find, is tiny player. I liked it a LOT, but it doesn't have any equalizer...
And I have tried so many other players and they are TERRIBLE, especially starting with winamp, which I like so much for
PC!!! The Android's version is absolutely not acceptable for me!

Hello and thanks for your answers. But all of them are connected to Cyanogenmod.

up my phone and/or lose my warranty.
Please recommend a normal installable app.

Hello and thank you!
I gave it a try today and it doesn't work at all :-/ It didn't show me even a single folder !!!
I see the message select a folder or whatever on the top and everything below is black!!
I'm gonna send an e-mail to the developers to report this bug.
Trying to download this, I found another player - EZ folder player free. It works very
nicely with my headset button, but it doesn't show the playlist and doesn't have an
equalizer...
Actually it makes me VERY SAD and VERY DESPERATE - WHY all the music players
need to have a huge icon showing NOTHING in the center and wasting the whole screen ?!?!?!?!
WHY there can't be a program, showing the playlist, as Winamp on a PC and 3 buttons
for play/pause, next and previous song? IS IT SO COMPLICATED ?!?!? And an
equalizer, of course!! Come on, guys, this is Winamp from 1993 !!! And in 2012, this
doesn't exist anymore !!!
My device is Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS (4.0.3).
OK, regarding Music Folder Player - I can not see folders only with the paid version of this app.
I have also tried to install the free version and it works. I have also installed Music Volume EQ:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hr.podlanica&feature=search_result
This is a MUST have app!! It has an extremely nice bass boost function and now listening to
music is a really nice experience on my SGS2.
So, back to Music Folder Player - this is the player, which I will be using for now. It is by far
not perfect, but it seems to be quite working. Major disadvantages:
- it plays folders only at one level - if you have a folder that contains mp3 files and subfolders
with more mp3 files, it will play only the lower level folder. If you select some of the subfolders,
it will play only the subfolders, but never the parent folder. REALLY annoying, but not fatal
- It writes media information files to EVERY directory with music
- The equalizer does not change almost anything and it is practically useless. But this can be
solved via Music Volume EQ, so it is a really minor problem.
But it is a very customizable player and I like it a lot! Nevertheless, I am more and more
convinced, that the perfect mp3 player for Android does not exist yet
Although, there a some players in the style I like - Music folder player, EZ music folder
player, tiny player, etc... There must be also more of them. Please suggest some...
Come on, guys!! No other cool apps? I can't believe it...
I am using kamma's folder player. It supports rom's native equalizer app. UI can improve a little but pretty much suffices what I need.

hi,
Try this one i am sure you would not search for anything else.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omichsoft.player
It supports Playlists, folders, genres, artists, albums and songs list.
Supports device internal equalizer.
shows itself on the Lockscreen.
and all this for an installation size of around 350 kb.
difficult to justify some (most) paid music players against this one.

I remember that there is no BLUE color in the stock music player i downloaded before.
Its just STOCK, no mods.. One more thing, i remember also( i think ) that the icon is in music note icon not in Walkman
Oh btw, i dont know if its me or the player u gave to me is giving error to some songs, "Error: Cant play"
Anyway Thanks
The stock music player from the Xperia S with a music note icon is the Gingerbread Music App as the Xperia S ICS uses Walkman, which is no different from the GB music app, just a different visual appearance. The GB music app has been already fully ported with the "Download Music Info" and is somewhere here in the themes & apps forum; you'll have to search around for it. If you're using ICS, you should just use Walkman imo.
