I like it. I like the Snapdragon 800, the speakers at the bottom and the headphone jack at the bottom. I think if someone would trade i may do it. But it not having a sdcard does suck. I have the 32GB s4 and a 32GB SDCard. It would be nice if it did and is the battery non removable? not a big deal if its not. I go all day with my s4 and still have 50% left. But i don't like the quickwindow cover I like the look of the s view cover a lot better and love using it. It is nice to see how much stuff the quickwindow cover does though.

Nah, I'm rooted with TWRP on MDK and the specs are perfectly what i wanted in a phone. 5" screen 1080p 2gb ram removable battery and SD slot. I was one that never had any lag on the phone even before root (i waited 4 days to root). I get normally 6+ hours of on screen time and once got just shy of 8 hours.
No need for more phone. i mean maybe in a year or so and even then this phone will be almost as good as what comes out then. Plus i don't like LG overall. Only this phone as a true nexus would be tempting.

Looks cool but I just don't think I'd want a 5 inch screen phone. My roommate has the DNA and its just an awkward transition from something like our 4.7", to the Note 2. If I was to go 5+, might as well just go bigger and get the full advantages.

The Optimus G Pro (E940) is coming to AT&T.. It just never had an official name before.. That is probably why they dropped the outright price to $450.. If they could fit a 5" screen in the same chassis as the regular Optimus G, I could bite.. Don't want to go any bigger though.

We probably won't see 5.0 until this summer. As for the OG, I'll be very annoyed if they don't get Jelly Bean to us by then! Unfortunately, that's been LG's track record so far.

Yes. I decided on the note 2 instead of the sg3. I had the sg3 already but then I saw all of the features of the gn2. I'm use to the size already. I'm just a little embarrassed to hold it to my ear. Lol I'm sure that will change soon.
I love the multi window feature.
I can't wait to root it so I can have more apps in the multi Window.

I came from a GNex as well. With Beans and Nova launcher, this phone feels like a larger version of the Nexus on steroids! :good:

I came from the Epic 4G Touch and that phone was a huge brick. This thing is huge and I love it, but not so big that it's a pain to use. Everytime my wife hands me her iPhone 5 to talk to her mom I feel like I am going to drop that little thing.

Congrats! This phone exceeds my expectations I had for it. You know you don't have to root to get more apps in Multiview right? You can just mod the apk/installer of the apps you want it there and install them.

This morning at 10:30 I went and bought the s4, by 3:00 it was returned. I felt like I downgraded big time. The camera was nice, but it wasn't worth my upgrade. Plus the note 2 with beans' ROM is sick as hell.

I had considered the s4 switch... To me the camara is a big selling point as i have a little 1 year old that is my world.
What are the down sides? Sure a smaller screen... that would be the hardest to swallow i think but i am unsure of many other downers as i dont use the spen.

As the OP pointed out, it felt like a downgrade. The S4s screen is pretty nice but I found it ate through the battery pretty quick when it was on. The S4 dropped to 3g in places my Note would hold 4g. The S4 didn't seem as smooth as the Note with a rom on it. It just didn't feel worth the money.

The screen wasnt that big of a differnce. There was a lot of lag everywhere, from the camera to making a call and all that smart stuff wasnt what i thought. There was a few flaws, but everybody feels different about things. U have 14 days to return it..just make sure u go to the corporate store,if not u have to pay an $80 restocking fee. I was pissed, but I got the phone for $177 after the rebate..

I'm in a similar situation. I picked up the S4 Thursday, played with it for a day, and hated it. The camera was laggy (0.5-1 second shutter lag), the UI and apps themselves were laggy, it felt like I downgraded because of the smaller screen and the battery life was a lot worse. I went back to my Note 2 for the weekend and thought about returning the S4.
Then last night I decided to give the S4 another shot. I did a factory reset, installed my apps again (except I only installed what I REALLY used, which is about 60 apps), rooted, and froze/uninstalled a TON of apps and processes using Titanium Backup. After customizing it even more it's been much better in terms of performance and battery life. The screen is amazing on the S4, it's much brighter, whiter, no jagged edges on text (MBP > MBP Retina), easily viewable in sunlight, etc.
I thought back to when I first got my Note 2 and realized that the S4 is still brand new, when the Note 2 was new it was also laggy and full of bloatware. The S4 is only going to get better as OTA updates come out to fix these few minor issues, and once devs start to build solid ROM's it's going to be just as reliable as my Note 2 is on Beans 17.
I enjoy having a phone that I can actually fully use in one hand, fit in my pocket without being uncomfortable while sitting, and more importantly actually be able to fit it in cupholders!

But the note 2 wasn't laggy even with Verizon bloat and a ton of apps. I used it for a while stock, non rooted and it was just ask fact as it is on a custom Rom. I really feel like the snapdragon CPU's are just inferior to exynos. Plus it never gets hot.

I'm tempted, but my guess is that I'll just end up disappointed that HTC capitulated to Big Red and locked up the boot loader. Other than the far superior design and build quality, neither of which matter to me as much as performance does, I'm thinking there's not much of an advantage to switching over

Or you could have a 4.7 inch screen that becomes a 5 inch screen when the buttons hide in certain apps.
Perspective man. And now that we are starting to slim down on those bottom bezels (moto x) on screen buttons will become more and more attractive.

I'm not a fan of on screen buttons either. I see them as wasted space. I actually used GMD Gesture Control on my GNex and set custom gestures from the right and left sides of the screen. You could also root and flash a ROM with Pie Controls.
I'm not sure if AOKP still has it, but the nav bar widgets and customizations would probably be the only reason I'd have a nav bar.

I'd like to have the HTC One for its FM Radio. But to take the place of the S4. Nope! The S4 battery is tiny (for LTE at least). The One has a 2300mAh battery. Not enough for a full day. Plus non removable.
The only phone I would (and am buying) with a non removable battery is the Motorola Droid Maxx (new one) 3500mAh for non removable is great. 2300 in the One is horrible. Plus don't get me started on the 4MP camera. Might be great for low light. But resolution and clarity. Nope.

I have a stock rooted S4 I got as a replacement from asurion, for a S3, it's on ME7, I have not activated it. Just thoughts from the community, I am a long time aosp user, anti touch jizz since fascinate days. Should I keep the s4 and bear with it on rooted stock or send it back and get another S3?

Why wouldn't they? People buy the one. It's just an htc one with a note 3ish size screen and larger battery + sd card slot finally. I just want reliable and fast 4g again, something I can't have with my s4.
Edit: just read some reviews on the one max. Disappointing. Now I really don't know what I'm going to do for a phone. Maybe back to my rez.

mint condition. Never dropped. No scratches. Kind of undecided what to do with it now. The only thing keeping me on the s4 is 5in screen and battery life. Was definitely getting rid of it before I read the one max review, now I'm not sure what to do

Yeah, first you gotta figure out if you selling or keeping.
I honestly don't see any reason for any other phone at the moment. If I can get it unlocked I'm straight for a year or more.

Yeah I know. Your best bet may be a dev edition. I really don't think an unlocked bootloader is coming unless samsung leaves a door open for someone to get into in a future update.

Yeah I don't know that One design just doesn't scale well. I mean look at a One compared to a Moto X, it's a joke. They have the same screen size but the Moto X is almost the same size as an iPhone while the One is bigger than our phone. So the BoomSound speakers plus the 5.9" screen means it massive. It only has a Snapdragon 600 after all these devices are coming out with the 800. It loses OIS, which ruins the whole point of their "UltraPixels" with the larger light aperture, in favor of a fingerprint reader which so far hasn't been reviewed very well. Apple integrated the reader into the experience of the iPhone by putting it right on the home button, the One Max makes the same mistake as the Motorola Atrix. Furthermore, it doesn't even retain the best part of the One design, the unibody aluminum shell. It features a plastic ring around the phone like our S4 as well as an apparently spotty removable back that doesn't even feature a removable battery. Very disappointed in the One Max.
