The ZU isn't rooted yet, so i guess you/we will have to wait a bit. It's also not released in Europe/US yet, so not a lot of peope have it.
(It'll hit the stores here at the beginning of september)

you can always copy these files from a file manager + a ftf always helps

there are always ways, comeone mates try a little harder

Didn't you get them already from this thread? Are you planning to get the ZU btw?

no only the /system/lib folder was posted so far, still missing /system
due to the GPU and s800 I find the ultra much more wiser than the new Nexus 7 (as a small tablet and not a phone)
slightly disappointed by the audio quality reports and of course the price is so far absurd

Hi, I got the original firmware update, just awaiting to get a an activated Emma account to decrypt it. I guess to get files you are looking for directly from this dump.

[Q][DEV] Archos G9 series firmware extracting?

I've been playing with the new firmware file for a few hours now, but can't really extract it. I'm really interested in the apps, etc, so could someone tell me if there's any way to extract it? OpenAOS, and other archos AOS extractors didn't work sadly.
If someone could do me a system dump of the 101 G9, it would make this whole extraction unneeded (for me atleast!).
Thanks in advance!
And what do you want to do?
None of the Apps will work as they are for HoneyComp.
They all need a newer OS and all the other things that come with the new tablet.
It would be the same useless try that has been done in the beginning of the year with the HC SDK Binaries.
Stop hurting yourself and wait for ICS Sourcecode and then we will see.

So my Asus Transformer isn't HC? Good to know...
I exactly know what I want to do with the apps, so please, no more non helping posts. I started this thread to find answers, not stupid people commenting on everything without reading.
And where did you state that you want to use them on a Transformer?
Even then, none of the Archos APK will work there, as Archos has also changed some underlying OS Funktions and drivers.
As the Gen9 has a completely different SOC ( Tegra2 vs TI OMAP 4430/4460) none of those needed Drivers are working.
So again, what do you want?

To simply answer your question...
I'm not familiar with the gen9 devices, but i assume that archos did not change their basic infrastructure on these devices (using squashfs).
If that's the case there are basically three ways i'm aware of:
1. Gain root access on your device and directly copy the files to an external device. Of course this is not very comfortable and you'll have to take care of symlink's, etc.
2. Make a dump of the partition where androidmerged.squashfs.secure is
included using a dd tool or similar.
After doing so, you'll have to investigate the raw data for squashfs signature and remove the leading header.
Then you might be able to get the raw squashfs file containing all data.
This file could be mounted as loop on a linux machine supporting squashfs files.
As i pointed out, i'm not aware of the internal structure in gen9 devices, so i can't tell you which partition is the right one.
Maybe you could post some output of your device (e.g. cat /proc/partitions or mount)
Anyway i guess you'll have to be root to access the mtd devices in the end.
3. Extract the androidmerged.squashfs.secure file directly from the .aos.
Using this way you'll neet to tweak aos-tools with the correct key for gen9 devices. This key has not been published yet and that's why aos-tools is lacking support for gen9 devices.
To be honest we don't know anything about the security mechanism on gen9 yet.
Some words in common...
Please respect the rules!
Abusing other users is a no go

Ask letama for help/code.

OTA Update to .21 fails after .15 downgrade and root.

Hey all,
I posted this in wolf's thread as well as the thread here but not have not fixed yet so I thought I would post this problem in it's own thread.
I successfully downgraded my prime using the tool (batch file) to .15 with a US blob for my (what was) US .21 prime. I rooted with the tool and then voodoo OTA and protected root.
The prime sees the OTA to .21 and downloads it. Asks me to install it. When I say OK it boots into the android guy with the spinning wire mesh. The progress bar makes it up to around %25 and the android guy falls on his back and theres a triangle with a "!" in his open stomach. It sits there for 1 maybe 2 minutes and reboots back into .15 saying there was an error and I've been reverted back to .15.
In searching, I found a thread that detailed some steps that might prevent an update from installing. It started out by looking at the log located in /cache/ to find out what the problem is and fix it. However, my /cache/ folder is empty with no sub-folders.
I've been told it may be my build.prop. I don't think I have added or changed anything in it without changing it right back to the way it was. I change the model and manufacturer once to see if I could get a game from google play but changed them back to exactly what they were (including case).
Would anyone care to link me to a trustworthy .15 build.prop (trustworthy so I dont brick my device putting someone's practical joke in as build.prop). If thats the problem that might fix it.
I have a TB backup so if a complete wipe and factory reset is in order I'm up for that but not even sure how to go about that with the TFP. But I hope theres an easier way if anyone knows one. Would love to get back on the update path and also use the GPS dongle that came in yesterday.
PM'ed you.
Sorry, I get so busy being lazy and working at the same times that I get a little jumbled

Thank you so much bux! First thing I learned is that just because a file explorer program says it can explore root doesn't mean it does a good job. Thanks for pointing me to root explorer app. There actually were folders in my cache folder with log files. Second thing I learned was editing ur build.prop even putting it back exactly the way it was messes with the update check. Thank u for all ur help. I'M NOW .21 ROOTED WOOWOO!!! The build.prop was in fact the culprit. If I could give thanks from this xda app I'd give u 20! (Actually 21!)
Edit-you can give thanks from this!

Install root explorer and again try to look at your /cache/recovery directory. Pretty sure you must have root access to see it, and root explorer will attempt to get just that when you start it the first time.
Let me know if this gets it so you can look at the recovery logs, if not then I hope more people have a look at your thread.

Ok, yeah, build.prop is definitely your problem.
Code:
file "/system/build.prop" doesn't have any of expected sha1 sums; checking cache
failed to stat "/cache/saved.file": No such file or directory
failed to load cache file
script aborted: assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/build.prop", "6d6091deb35156e27166bfc8577483040d62c59f", "800e051d6445d0dfae5c04fcdb66dd1f0ce7a330")

I have a backup of my build.prop from .21, I'll get it to you and we'll see if that won't do the trick. If not, we'll have to take to the forums and hope some others will have a good build.prop or actual explanation for the issue.

Have you tried locating your DMClient in your apps and clearing its data/cache? Try that and see if maybe blob'ing between regions didn't just discombobulate it. The build.prop wouldn't help you there I don't think. I hate to say it, but try a factory reset?

Yes, when your Prime detects an update it downloads dlpkgfile to your /cache/ directory, and upon reboot updates the Prime. So putting a .21 WW dlpkgfile in your cache directory should update you to .21 WW.
The last one I linked to involving the UPDATE.zip has you manually update your Prime from recovery, as a last resort kind of thing and should work.

There is another post having a very similar complaint in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25890334&postcount=258
I have an extremely similar issue, that is:
Bought a TF201 on March 2012, updated OTA (several times) up to ICS .21
Sent to the local (Israel) lab complaining for WIFI and GPS issues.
Received back with the motherboard replaced.
Changes that were observed:
* MAC addresses (Bluetooth and WIFI) have changed - well... MB has been replaced...
* MAC of the BT does not appear under the about -> status menu
* S/N unknown under the same menu
* SKU is US (.21) instead of the original WW
I cannot say I feel any improvement with the WIFI or the GPS.
(BTW, the GPS dongle arrived a day after and that one makes miracles!
But only on .21! Furthermore, it is rather big [has the length of the TF201] so I guess I will not carry it with me daily)
Tried the wolf downgrade (US .15) - works fine.
Wiped as suggested on his page.
No OTA!
(rooted or unrooted)
Tried WW .15 and US .14 as well.
No OTA.
Waited over 24h (as suggested in some webpages).
Found the ratchet solution for S/N fixing - still no OTA (neither on WW nor US .15) - all wiped as well (long vol-down press while turning on + 2 x vol-up presses while wipe is flashing).
I've been through 3 factory resets in a row (As suggested in some sites) - both on .15 as well as .21
I'm just about to contact the seller and ask for a replacement (but I really don't feel like it).
I hope a solution is found in the next couple of days as I'm afraid I will have to deal with the seller by Sunday otherwise.

That sucks. Can't believe they're so sloppy they can't even make an annotation in the paperwork what firmware you were already on and give it back how they received it.
I'll keep looking around, but it's likely going to take someone more ingenious than I to come up with a solution since you're getting the SN Unknown issue. Does ASUS not even have properly working NVflash?

[Q] 2 Tablets: 1 workis and 1 doesn't

I've read LOTS of the threads here and maybe it's just beyond my brain to wrap around but I've also dl'd linked files in the hopes of fixing the one broken tablet.
Both tablets are Sony S and 111US. They have NEVER been rooted as I'm unfamiliar with the practice; though I can understand now why it's a nice thing to do from some of these posts/solutions.
I am borrowing this working tablet from a friend in the hopes I could find the answer by copying them via a File Explorer on the working tablet.. I can't send the broken one in to Sony as it was a gift and I don't have the receipt / proof of purchase; which the representative stressed that I needed in order for them to fix it.
Sometimes it's just stuck at the Sony Logo and one time when I tried to do a recovery from a file via SD card I got from condi or stifilz's 4shared.. well it was stuck at the shimmering boot animation; naturally I was SO excited but then it died down when I saw it was looped at that.
So my prime question is.. In putting a File Explorer on the WORKING tablet [not rooted and not updated, fresh from the box pretty much]: Is there a way to find the necessary files I need to fix the broken one?
Thanks!

Best thing to do would be try to flash the lowest update you can such as signed-nbx03_001-ota-11000.001.zip or 0035 or 0042. These are all HoneyComb (oldskewl android). Then use ADB pull /tmp/recovery.log and post the file here, then we can see what is happening.
any questions see my FAQ on how to flash etc

I was afraid of that :/ Tried to download the files you directed me [I have bookmarked your 4shared]. They download fine however.. when I try to put them onto an SD card I get a popup to "Please insert the last disk of the Mult-Volume set and click OK to continue"
Trying to extract [for the heck of it] on computer.. I get that "The compressed (zipped) folder is empty."
Maybe the storms overhead here are making my net connection too funny to download anything atm.. I am not really sure. [Though I'm questioning why it's taking 30mins+ to download each file]
Despite those errors.. I pop the SD card into the tablet and not too surprised, the file doesn't show up TO load.
This happened with: signed-nbx03_001-ota-11000.zip and signed-nbx03_001-ota-0035.001.zip
I am still working on the others with the hope that I'll find success in ONE of them.

Yeh what dex9mm said. Try to format the disk and then put it onto sd card. Also the files are encrypted so you can't extract them. Are you copying straight to sdcard (laptop) or using a reader?

Hmm.. didn't think of formating them first but okay shall do that.
When I click "download" it auto-downloads to my folder on Computer. From there I then "copy to" the card. Thanks guys!
UPDATE: Okay.. so I FINALLY got the tablet to see the ota 1100, 0035 and 0042 and got, to my unending frustration, the repetitive error:
"Erohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku

What's that mean exactly? and is there a way to fix that? Not sure if I need to find a decrypted zip and edit something in it now.. :/

[Q] Fix for KitKat to write external SD card?

Is there a fix for writing the external SD card for the One Max, similar to what has been done for the rooted Samsung Note 3?
I have had enough of not being able to root and run a custom recovery without tripping Samsung's stupid Knox counter. Before I come back to the HTC fold, I want to be sure I will be able to access my external card with KitKat on this phone. Can anyone confirm and share a link?
The solution was posted on the forums here and there and no one bothered to post for this
Quick Google gave me the answer, however i was able to use Root Explorer / ES file manager with root and it was able to do copy files to anywhere in the SD card.

Since kitkat 4.4.2 was released on the Galaxy Note 3, many users were unable to write files to the External SD Card. Below is a simple fix for rooted users on the Galaxy Note 3 N9005 ( International Snapdragon Variant).
**Please be advised that I have only tested this on my personal N9005. However, you are free to test it on your own devices at your own risk!! **
1. Using a root-enabled file manager, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add an additional group definition for this permission...<group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save the changes to the file.
5. Restart.

Thanks for the info Pradeep. It does make sense that it would be the same fix for the same OS. Any other gotchas I should be aware of? It looks like I can lock/unlock, root/unroot, etc. and still return to bone stock if/when I want to, correct?
I have pretty much convinced myself to dump my Sprint Note 3 for the HTC One Max to get away from Samsung and get this tri-band phone to take advantage of Spark that is supposedly active in my area.

Yes you can easily return to stock, just s-off before updating the ROM and you should be all good to go!

@pradeepvizz here's some more background (article) on the changes that made this necessary.. i had posted it a while back but figured it's probably relevant to attach to this thread now.

Thanks mate! remember reading the article sometime before
but guess what, i was able to copy files using root explorer using root permissions ofcourse! so i really wonder if that even matters for us rooted users.
I am not sure about ES file manager and other file managers, but root explorer did it for me without any change to the stock rom.

I think the true fix is the above which won't require root perms for an app to be able to write to an external SD without (knowing to) prompt for SU.
Root ALWAYS trumps user/service/system accounts... it's the apps that won't know to use root though...
and sadly... i'm still waiting for kitkat.... might have two M8s coming home tonight for the ladies in the house which will only make me crazier...lol

Considering their new vision I'd doubt those rumors. I haven't heard anything like that myself from anybody reputable...

sd card
jimsmith94 said:
is there a fix for writing the external sd card for the one max, similar to what has been done for the rooted samsung note 3?
I have had enough of not being able to root and run a custom recovery without tripping samsung's stupid knox counter. Before i come back to the htc fold, i want to be sure i will be able to access my external card with kitkat on this phone. Can anyone confirm and share a link?

hello,
i have spoken with htc support ... They told me really you can´t make anything on your sd card ... With 3 part software like es file explorer.... I can´t believe it that they don´t know about it before the update to 4.4 .... But i think if htc would make as a manufacturer a file browser .... We could edit things on sd card .... (they told me ... If more than 100 users write such demand to htc support they software engineers will work on it)
but from google it is a thing ... That me makes angry .... Now is a phone with a sd card garbage ... Ok ... Root ... But after that you loose warranty on the motherboard.....
Build in batery, build in memory .... In two years, what will be next ? Buy a high end phone for 3 months and after that exchange ? Because everything is just a demo or a crap of china for 1 time use?
Quality of these days goes down like the human world it is just a mirror, everything what i have bayed in last 2 - 3 years had to be repaired in warranty. (solution .... Back to the woods and run just with a stick this is the new century ... Century of top **** quality?)
This app makes it ultra easy for those rooted to write to SD card - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51527203

I know that .... But i think if HTC as a producer - first part ... producer of the software tooo... could make a file browser... the sd card would be more useful then now .... (now i must go to a pc and make changes .... delete ... write to it...)
After a file browser "commander" from htc .... you could make something with the sdcart from the phone ....

There is a fix but you have to be rooted to be able to edit the platform.xml file or install a zip from recovery that does the same thing.

Sdcards are not useless to Google and carriers. Their apps can still write to them by default. Its only downloaded apps that cannot.
I hope Google reads this and takes this as my notice that they have become evil and it is just sickening.

[Q] CWM Recovery for Allwinner A33?

I was just wondering if there was any available (or TWRP) or a substitute for a generic tablet
Maybe it's too early but I'm interested too, even for a cyanogenmod rom

I think so
I ask for a CM rom because I have slow wifi signal but I can't understand if it's an hardware trouble or a software trouble...

My issue are 2 things the constant ads that pop up (minor issue) and second is the space, very low space.... I have an 32gb sd card and I'd like to use that as the primary storage, but since the tablet is kit Kat switching the storage around isn't done the same as its done in jelly bean and from what I read it can only be done by flashing in CMW recovery because ads to sd doesn't always work
I have exactly the same your problems! I can't understand why they partition the main memory when they could use the whole space to install apps... And I want to remove that damn ads popups too!
My model is recognized as softwinner "V11", I'd like to know if CM designed for other similiar tablets works...

Yup im certain that we have the same tablet because mines is also softwinner V11 lol
Hi guys. I've got an a33 quad core tablet badged ciprotec but I know it's allwinner based (obviously). Have you guys managed to get yours rooted? Mine runs 4.4.2 kvt49l. It's OK for messing around on but I need to practice my developing skills!! Cheers!
That tab is should already rooted I have one too but I found the preinstalled root doesn't work properly. Cant remember quite how i got it working but i think i used supersu to delete and reinstall the root script or I might have had to hook it up to the pc with a bit of software for flashing allwinners that I found. When you do have it rooted get gl2sd if your running kitkat so you can use the external sd for some of the bigger app installs rather than the rather small internal sd, but before that make sure the write permissions are enabled to sd there are a few Apps on the market that can do this. Has anybody heard anything on cwm or twrp yet?
Managed to get it done using vroot! Yay!! It's mine at last!
Hi all,
I've rooted my device and accidentally removed the systemui.apk so now my status bar etc is missing.
So far I've been trying to restore it from several Roms and other user posts, however, it looks like as if the model etc has to match my environment. So here I go, could someone post their systemui.apk???
Cheers!
Bump
Anyone??
allwinner a33

Its a root app.. It'll come up as malware.... Use kingoroot.. Works fine.
I have this tablet as well, I have it rooted but still have not found a way to get around the ads that popup. Has anyone been able to mod this or delete the script that is causing the ads.
"edit"
found a link for AllWinner Demo Lock (trojan) Removal Tool cannot post the link because I have not posted 10 posts, but if you google it is easy enough to find.
"edit"
did not fix problem with ads

Windows ADB driver??
I have a new A33 tablet, which I cannot get it rooted, because I cannot find a working Windows ADB driver for it - either for Windows 8.1 x64 or Windows 7 x64.
The MTP driver works (I can transfer files), but I cannot find the "Android" driver for the ADB connection.
I tried the Rockchip "RK driver assistant" - no luck.
If you have a working ADB connection to an Allwinner A33 tablet, could you perhaps share the Windows ADB drivers here?
TIA

Try this
A33 Twrp
I made a TWRP for A33, A23,A20 and A31s models over on TechKnow . Some of them are posted but I think I have yet
to post all of them on the Public Downloads... I will make an effort to get them all posted soon. Offhand I do not
recall the specs I used though I am thinking all used gslx Touchscreens.. I will post here again the specs of the Tabs
they are for and a link to where they are posted once I am sure they are up ... The delay in posting them has
been the installer, I was working with another person since I have no A33 on making an installer that will
work on all of the tab models from ADB, also I am working pretty heavily on A31s Dev at present and have
allowed my other projects to fall behind even though some are essentially finished as in this case.
Thanks
