I would like to hear what you guys would do so read on. Here is a little background story.
So I have hadddd the galaxy nexus since it came out on verizon and love the stock feel and look. Six months ago I had a problem with my nexus and verizon sent me a GS3 which was an amazing phone compared to the nexus hardware wise. The battery was way better, the screen seem so much brighter, speaker much louder and did I say the batter was way better yet? So I kept the GS3 for about a month and a half and eneded up buying another galaxy nexus off craigs list Why you ask? Because I missed the stock experience even thou the GS3 was better in hardware I still loved the stock experience. I did flash aosp on the GS3 but there was always something that wasn't working properly and I'm sure you all know the feeling. Then about a month ago I sold the GS3, kept the Gnex and had an opportunity of buying a Note 2. Same thing here, huge batter life (lasted me about a day and a half), huge screen and loud speakers, pretty much a GS3 on steroids, and lastly it's very big so I would like something a little smaller. Here I am again finding my self using my Gnex all the time and the note 2 sitting. Why you ask? Stock experience is what I like best (my opinion). So here is what I have learned. I love stock android and I have realized that I have been flashing CM sine the HTC EVO, battery life is very important specially after owning a note 2 you get spoiled not having to look at battery percentage all day no matter how hard you use the phone, and a good camera.

Sell the Note 2 to get (and please tell me about your experience with the GS4)
1-Galaxy s4 (developer edition or the normal verzion phone?) - great hardware, camera, battery life? you tell me since you guys own it. And lastly how are the 4.2.2 and 4.3 rom ports to this phone since there is a GPE with same hardware, what are the problems with it if any or is it a perfect port?
2-Droid Maxx - close to stock android and great batter life, the bad side you have locked down bootloader and capacitive buttons
3-Moto X- love the form factor, close to stock android,same as droid maxx, on screen keys which I love but still dont know about batter life
In the end I am thinking about getting the GS4 due to its large batter, awsome screen and speaker and I would like to run aosp only on this phone if you guys who are running it could give me feedback on the roms out there I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

4- LG G2- beautiful screen, what looks to be a great battery life and good camera, great speaker and edge to edge screen but will there be developers working on it to get CM or other aosp roms , and the UI looks worse than tw. Just unknown right now

GS4 has been nothing but great for me.. I wouldn't trade it for ANY of the other phones I've had in the past. The experience thus far has been second to none. One man's opinion. Battery life alone is a deal maker. On the other hand the camera is pretty darn good and the physical size and feel to me is perfection. Super thin and light. Even with a case it's noticeably lighter than my Rezound was stock. To me it's a no brainer.
I have a GS4 on stock unrooted firmware. It is easily the best experience I've had with Android. The 1080 screen is nothing short of phenomenal. I wasn't sure if I would notice anything over 720 (my GS3, N2, GNex) but there's definitely something to be appreciated.
As far as battery life, I get anywhere from 4-6 hours of screen on time. About 20-23 hours of total battery life, hitting the red at about 20 - that's without the power saving mode (lower brightness, adjust screen time, under clock from 1.9GHz to 1.3GHz). Coming from a GNex I'm sure you can appreciate the nightmare that is battery life on it.
Performance wise, even with TouchWiz this phone flies. Enable Force GPU Rendering and it's about as fluid as it gets.
Long story short, you may come to miss AOSP, but with minor customization you can at least simulate the experience. I say go for it.

I love my GS4 but make sure if you want to put any Roms on it to make sure its on the mdk build and don't accept the update. Get home and root right away. Also I originally got the 16 and ended up returning for the 32 gig. I had problems with SD card unmounting so I just rather not mess with it. Both my phones shipped from there warehouse with mdk builds.
Are the aosp builds stable for the gs4? What's broken?

I'm on a very recent cm 10.1 nightly (8/07 I think). There is a call audio hanging thing, but that seems to be fixed by a phone apk that is around page 123ish of the official nightly thread. Other than that and the horrendous bluetooth stack in aosp 4.2.2, it is very stable and everything seems to work.

I've been running liquidsmooth for a few weeks now and everything works perfectly...very fast and responsive, GPS works, great battery life, awesome customization, the whole nine.

That is what I wanted to know. So there are no problems with GPS, camera, any FC's, battery life, data issues and or any screen flickering, right?

If you are not a big flasher, I say wait for the Moto X. The S4 has the developer software but is it really worth paying more for software.
CM, aokp, and other ROMs have milestones that are stable. You can also go that route.

I went from the gnex to the s4 this week and a after just a few days I am in the same place as you were with your s3. The hardware improvement is fantastic and the battery life issue being gone from my life is almost worth it by itself. But I really miss the stock experience and especially the experience I had in the two weeks with 4.3, which made the gnex like a new phone again. Not being able to flash a stock rom is driving me crazy (the phone was being updated to me7 before I even left the store). I'd wait to see how the Moto X looks to you before you jump in on this one

So you understand going from stock android to TW is a tough move for some. So far I am really liking the moto X from all the reviews but Im still having a hard time to pay full asking for its hardware when compared to the other high end phone, because remember I will have to buy my next phone out right or used depending on what I decide to go with. I decided and have put my note 2 on craigslist for sale. I love the note but the phone is a bit too big at times.
I'm really liking all the hardware on the LG G2 but like I said earlier I'll have to wait and see if there is going to be devs working on it. Droid Maxx may also be a good pick due to its software and huge battery. After owning a Gnex you understand how battery life on your next phone needs to be like. The GS4 sounds looks really good too, maybe I'll just do a straight up trade with the note 2 for a GS4.

This is part of my problem, I love to flash different roms and try them out. So the newer update on the GS4 breaks rooting, correct? If I'm going to go with anything else other the GS4 I'll have to wait and see what the devs will be able to root, that is also an important note to take, at least for me.

Get the galaxy s4 dev edition straight from samsung. I have the normal verizon version and had to return it after a hard brick and they sent me the me7 updated version With the dev version you wont ever have to worry about a locked bootloader and have free reign to flash as you desire. There are sooooo many awesome roms for the device already and they just keep getting better. The sheer power of the s4 makes its possibilities pretty endless. So yeah. I suggest the dev edition s4. Hope this helps you in your quest for pure awesomeness!
Edit: if you werent aware the vruame7 update to the verizon s4 completely blocks custom recovery and an unsecure bootloader. There is no fix or workaround at this time. Root has been achieved but if you like custom roms the update is a huge downer.

Unfortunately for me, the way I feel about it is this.
If the boot loader isn't unlocked before 6 months of the phone release, then I am NO way selling it for a DEV Edition phone.
I would be selling the SG4, and getting the HTC One (granted it comes to VZW)
as I know that S-OFF will most likley come (basically boot loader unlock)
and if not, HTC and Verizon have a set up called HTC-Dev.
Once you purchase your phone you can go to the HTC-Dev website and unlock your phone, (voiding warranty of coarse, but I've sent them back with this plenty times)
I would rather buy a phone I can get on contract price and unlock it like with HTC, than buy the Dev Edition off contract.
The bounty is a getting higher and higher, hopefully someone will claim their well deserved pot O' gold.
Take the Galaxy S4 Google (Developer) Edition, beacuse the updates are managed by Google and not from Samsung.

Google edition is not the same thing as the developer edition. The google edition is only available for AT&T and t-mobile. It's sold by Google, while the developer edition has Verizon bands available sold by samsung

I have had my Gs4 for a mouth and a half and love it. The biggest difference would be its not stock android. But if your willing to root then you could flash the Google edition that Dubbsy has ported over to Verizon. Also if you don't want to worry about battery life you could buy a extended battery or an extra stock battery with a wall charger and carry that battery around. I currently run a ZeroLemon 7500 mAh extended battery and get 2 to 2 1/2 days of battery.

Hey guys, my contract expires in a month and I am looking at a couple of new phones to buy. I currently own a Droid Incredible, and I absolutely love it. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it has poor battery life, and it's kind of slow. Things that I do like about it are that I have a plethora of roms to choose from and it has great development support. Some phones that I am looking to buy are the Droid Razr Maxx HD, Samsung Galaxy S3, and the Google Nexus. Can you tell me about the pros and cons of the S3? How is the developer support for this phone? I appreciate any help!
Developer support isn't the worst but it isn't the best, the Exynos 4412 is Faster than it needs to be, don't go for a Snapdragon S4 Quad just because its faster... the differences are minimal.
If I was you I would get the Nexus 4 over the Galaxy Nexus if you were to get a Nexus device.

everything is great with this phone, developer community, xda support community is good, frequency of software updates from samsung is also good compared to other OEMs at the moment...overall phone experience is excellent and you will not be disappointed...however, sgs3 suffers from two issues...
1) stock Contacts & Phone App lags, takes 3-4 seconds to open for the first time and will not stay in memory for a long time for fast opening..this sucks...work around is avaliable like Exdialer app from play store or Jkay mod for SGS3 to keep contacts and dialer app in memory always.
2) heavy apps installed from market cannot be moved into external memory (memory stick)...work around available though I guess..!
If you are comfortable flashing a custom rom, kernel or mods, then it's a wonderful phone.
Stock experience is good but has some shortcomings like mentioned before.
Overall, I think it's the most balanced device right now. Removable battery and micro sd slot surely give it an edge and it's not as large as a Note.
Xperia Z would be also a great choice if you decide to wait. Seems that it would be a better choice IF you can wait a month or two.

@drakester09: yeah, i am addicted to flashing. I have a gtab 2 so i'm familiar with the rooting process for samsung devices as well. i don't like the stock interface too much. i can't stand touchwiz for some reason lol.
thanks for your help guys. can one of you upload a screenshot of your battery usage graphs too? just for comparison with my battery life. i'd greatly appreciate that.

I meant to say the dev support for the Galaxy S3, which isn't massively impressive compared to the Nexus, but that's expected as AOSP is made for Nexus.

Easily fixed with a new kernel or ROM.
Worst thing about Samsung bloatware, but that isn't as bad with the I9305 and its 2G ram.
I'd wait for the SGS4!

Yeah, I'd hold off for a few months if you can - get a discount off your monthly bill from your service provider, save that money, then pull the trigger on a brand new S4 when that comes out. S3 is a great phone, and there's nothing else I'd rather have at the moment (except maybe the i9305 with more RAM, although a much weaker dev scene). But with the S4 release within spitting distance now, you'd be mad not to wait. Unless cost is an issue, in which case I'd still say wait, cos the S3 will drop in price quite a bit when the S4 is released. Might as well get yourself synced up with the Galaxy S release cycle now, cos once you have one you're unlikely to want to go elsewhere. I did buy myself a Nexus 4 when that came out, but the only benefits that had was the software (if you're into vanilla Android) and two gigs of RAM. EVERYTHING else was inferior to my S3, so I ended up sending the N4 back.

i was thinking about waiting for the s4 but i don't know when exactly it will come out. regardless, i probably won't buy it since i personally think that it might be too over powered and the battery life will take a hit, but hey, you never know. you're right about the S3's cost dropping though. i was looking at the nexus 4, but the no microSD card
(at least that's what i've read) was a complete turn off for me.
40 million S3 units sold, having come from HTC I can see why just on the quality of components Samsung uses in it's phones. I had a choice between the new nexus and the S3, the removable battery and sd card sold it for me but I'm very impressed by how well the software works. All my phones up to now had AOSP, this is the first that has ( albeit a stripped down version) a stock ROM onboard after three months use.

Yeah the s3 is pretty great. I've played around with it and I really like it. Is the battery life good with touchwiz or is it better with cm10.1?

Its all about choice. I have a nexus 7 which is a bigger version of the Google nexus in theory. Do you mean Google nexus or the nexus 4? I have to say that I love the jelly bean on the nexus and especially the user interface which I think is very simple to use on my nexus7. The RAZR maxx has the best battery life out of any phone I have seen on the market. My friend has one and funnily enough I have a s3. The s3 is brilliant you can really feel and see the quality Samsung put into making their phones. I came from HTC myself after having alot of issues with the one x . I would recommend either the nexus 4, simply because of the software and easy access and the s3 because of the removable battery and SD card which is what made me go for the s3 rather than the nexus

I highly doubt this will be the case - the battery life will be no worse than the S3 (most likely better). Chances are it will have a bigger battery as well as a better CPU (which will have better power management). The possibly larger screen and 1080P will obviously have a negative effect. This is obviously basing off rumour specs (and no one will really know until the phone is released), though point is, just because the phone is more powerful doesn't mean the battery life will be worse. The S3 is more powerful than the S2, though has better battery life (for me anyways).

The s3 is brilliant you can really feel and see the quality Samsung put into making their phones. I came from HTC myself after having alot of issues with the one x . I would recommend either the nexus 4, simply because of the software and easy access and the s3 because of the removable battery and SD card which is what made me go for the s3 rather than the nexus

Yeah, the Nexus 4. What was wrong with your One X? But yeah, I think I'm going to go with the S3. It has a lot of roms (so that beats out the raxr) and it has a micro SD(beating put the Nexus). Having a rooted droid incredible has kind of made those two things a necessity for me.

I'm due for an upgrade on the 2nd next month and was thinking of the S4. How's the battery life, way better than my GNex or about the same? And I'm kinda stuck with having to use Verizon as they're the only carrier that has decent signal where I live and all.
Or are there any other phones coming out in the next month and I should get one of them?
Get the s4. I get all day battery with moderate usage. Also the rom development is amazing!

Former Gnex user as well....you should upgrade. I use to wake up at 7, take my Gnex off the charger and use it quite a bit at work and by 12 or 1 I would need to charge it. With the S4 i don't need to charge it until I go to bed sometimes not even. Battery is excellent and signal with it is so much better.
The only downsides, so to speak, are the relative lack of roms and kernels as compared to a Nexus device and that we'll have to wait longer for the next iteration of Android.
That being said, the S4 has provided a superior experience, as far as I'm concerned. Even with the extended battery, I had to have a spare charger prepositioned at work because the Nexus couldn't last until lunch. Conversely, the S4 is seldom below 40% by the time I plug it in at night.

Agreed, I left the GNex and haven't missed it at all. Development is much farther than it was on a few of my previous phones at just over a month into it.
I'm acutally between the S4 and the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile's $30 plan since I honestly don't use more than 5gb/mo anyways.
Like the bigger screen on the S4 and colors look a bit nicer, but I love the open nature of Nexus devices. And the Nexus 4 is $299 off contract so yea.

s4 already has aokp cm PAC and a bunch of others. But seeing how the S4 will be a nexus device that will all change soon as it's released
i came from a gnex as well... its night and day difference. normally my phone would get pulled off the charger at 8 and be dead by 1 or 2. my S4 went 9hours yesterday and was still at 84%...

Other than that I have to say im not a fan of the "button" the S4 has. I really liked the 5 soft keys configured on my GNEX,
IMO the button is clunky.

S4 is amazing and I couldn't be happier with it but if you want options you can look into the HTC One. I hear plenty of great things about it and it will hopefully be on Verizon by the end of summer. Good luck!

The battery life of almost any phone nowadays will be better than the Galaxy Nexus.
My $.02... I still have the gn. I will never part with it. Even started a new line to keep it as a real phone
I've had a droid1, dinc, stratosphere, note2, rezound, nexus 7.
This is the only upgrade that ever felt like a real upgrade. The rezound was close with a beautiful screen and great sound but coming from the incredible at the time it just wasn't the leap I was looking for.
The speed, screen, camera and even the feel are huge improvements for me. I still like holding the gn, feels sturdy in comparison, but the overall difference between the two is barely worth comparing.
If you upgrade and are disappointed after I'd be shocked and suggest you wait another year cause I think it'll take that long to catch up to the features of the s4.

Oh and battery life seems infinite at times but I only need to charge once a day and use it throughout.

I also agree with a lot of the users here, I love the S4. The development is amazing and can only get better because it is a new phone. Battery life is pretty good, I charge mine over night and it easily lasts all day. Overall a really great phone and work every penny imo.
even when talking on the phone for very long periods at a time the battery on mine still lasts long enough to get me though the day.
I came from a GN also. It is worth the upgrade. Best phone on stupid Verizon!! I was waiting for another Nexus phone, but it will not happen with freaking verizon!!
Great battery life!! Phone has been off the charger since 6am and its at 92%, with moderate use.
Just got my S4. Already have it rooted, thank god I checked before doing the OTA. Got TWRP installed now to just find a nice ROM to get this thing started with.

As I'm sure has been stated a million times, the ROM development is outstanding thus far, as the phone has been widely adopted.
I, personally, didn't come from a GNex, but one of my closest friends has one, and I play with it all the time. He is always complaining about battery life while walking on eggshells and only running what he needs to, while I'm still sitting at 60% at the end of my day with TW features, WiFi, GPS, Mobile data, etc. all running for the whole day.
If you can get past TouchWiz (Either by flashing a ROM or by just getting used to it and enjoying its features), then it's most definitely worth it. Good luck!
EDIT: Just saw that you got your device already. If you're looking for a good ROM, try HyperDrive. I've been running it EXTREMELY reliably as my daily driver for a few days now. It flies, and it even introduces new TW features and tweaks for you to play with.
For those of you who have had the phone for the full run since the Verizon release date, how have your opinions improved, worsened, or remained the same about the galaxy s4?
I have had the phone for almost a month now and been through a few roms and have been pleased for the most part. I have gripes with the keyboard and the way the camera is great sometimes and totally worse at others.
I'd say after this long, I am happy with my purchase, but not so happy to the point where I'm not looking at upcoming phones later this year as a possible replacement.
Thoughts after two months?

I came from an S3 so I wasn't expecting a whole new experience but I love my S4. The screen is amazing and it's snappy as hell. No lag. I got the 32 GB one and the fastest 64 GB SD card I could find. Unfortunately I got the update so no rom flashing for me. Oh well, I love it the way it is. I was going to wait for the HTC One but I'm happy with my purchase. I also get way better signal too. When I had my S3 I would always get 3G at work but I always have 4G on my S4. My average battery life is 18H, 49M according to GSAM.

I love my GS4. its perfect for me. Does more then i need. If there was no root i would have been happy with it the way it was but with root and CleanROM installed, i basicly can't run it out of juice in a day, besides, charging is soooo fast anyway. I was also one that never had lag even on stock unrooted so with what i have now being rooted, its even snappier then it was originally. The phone is a beast. Signal is always strong screen is amazing and its the perfect screen size.
Honestly it is an amazing device.. I had it on clean rom for weeks and loved it.. just flashed CM10.1... I am blown away by the lightning fast speed.
I had the s3 as well before this. I've had mine since launch day and love it. I do have typing issues with the keyboard sometimes. Guess I sbould look for a good replacement. I wish it had more haptic feedback though. Doesnt hardly feel like im typing on a touch screen, it's too smooth to the touch. I had htc phones before this and rooting this s4 was 50 times easier.

Does swiftkey let you use the Google speech engine for voice to text? I have Swype+Dragon and I find the Google engine better in understanding my accent
I came from a droidx to the s4 so i am just amazed at what this phone can do. I am new to ROMs also so i am messing with this phone all day long.....
Coming from a locked down bionic, the lokid S4 is like a wet dream. ... Although, when comparing radios/signal reception, moto dominates Samsung. ..
Also Came from a locked down Bionic. After the JB upgrade that phone turned into hot garbage. The S4 is light years better!!!

Yea it lets you use Google voice to text. SwiftKey also has SwiftKey Flow which is like Swype. SwiftKey has the best predictions of all keywords I've tried because it constantly learns what you type. It looks at your Facebook posts, Google posts and by past texts if you authorize it.

I came from a 32gb S3 (white) to a 32gb S4 (black).
For me, it's slightly faster, the screen is noticeably better and the battery life (which was already excellent on my s3) is slightly better.
I actually like the "flat" feel of the edges compared to the S3. The camera is phenomenal.
Overall, it's a nice evolutionary step up.

Download Jelly Bean Keyboard from the dev VLLWP. It fixed every issue I had with the keyboard and more. It's free and there is little to no reason to get the paid version.
After fixing the keyboard, I have zero complaints about the phone. My battery life suffered after the update a bit but now seems to be back to normal which for this phone means I can go two days of light use with my settings the way the are before I plug it in. The only thing I have noticed is that my battery gets eaten up if I am using runkeeper and listening to music. I think it is the combo of GPS and headphones. I'll find a fix eventually. REALLY looking forward to android 5.0 on it this Fall!
I like it a lot more now that the GPS glitches in CM10.1 were resolved.
Disclaimer: I came from a Galaxy Nexus.
Waiting to see how solid the post bootloader lockdown ROMs are. The devs will eventually backport everything that does not require a firmware upgrade. But they will effectively be a port-rebase hybrid since we will not be able to run the stock ROM anymore. 4.3 will be the big test. If the moto x is unlocked like a sort of nexus device, swappa here I come.

Should I go S4?
Hey guys, it's been a while for me since I've last posted here. Pretty much I'm curious if I should buy the S4? I obviously want the latest and greatest but at the same token, i don't want TouchWiz. It would seem the answer is to just root and flash CyanogenMod but now I'm curious if Cyanogen allows for all features, like 4g & WiFi and full camera features like 1080p recording, to be used without problem. I remember, with my original EVO 4G, I mostly ran Cyanogen but 4g didn't work for a long time and there were a couple of other things that were a problem like 1080p video recording.
Hopefully you get a sense of my question: Can I buy the S4, flash CyanogenMod and use all features of the phone? (I know the eyeball and wave sensors most likely won't work...)
Side note: I got pretty turned off to Android with the purchase of the EVO 3D (my fault, I know). So turned off in fact that the EVO 3D no longer looks like a phone. I am soo tempted to just go iPhone so I don't have to worry about this stuff anymore... I just want ANDROID or bust!
I came from the gnex. Absolutely love this thing. Obviously battery life is 10 times better. I'm in casinos all the time and I almost always have 4g.
My biggest gripe is the lack of development, not that it's the phone's fault

I'm curious how you mean lack of development? You have CleanROM (stopped at 1.6.5) HyberDrive, Slim Beans, Carbon, CM10.1, Liquid Smooth, Synergy, Eclipse, Google Edition port, Chameleon, PAC-man and a few others im not thinking of im sure.

I am coming from the bionic. I actually liked the bionic. I love my s4 except the new update puts a huge damper on things. I was fortunate to have root still and twrp. I am running brands me7 ota so I don't have wi-fi. Once that is fixed it will be perfect for me. I so miss Motorola skin. This is my first Samsung.

Now, I know these devices are on all day long but I'm curious, do any of you, under normal use, have this problem? There were numbers burnt into the screen from the clock and the top info bar...

So I recently lost my Galaxy S4 (no questions asked, please) which I was very happy with. I played a lot around with different roms, kernels and stuff.
Now I'm thinking about getting the LG G2 because it seems like the cool new thing on the market. I notice, though, that there aren't really that big scene around for it - I really base that in the forum activity here on XDA. So I would like to know what people's experience is with this thing, especially if you've played around with the SGS4 as well.
A bit off topic in here - I would like to know how it is to root and mod, is it easily bricked? That's one thing I really liked on the Samsung phones in general.
Do you think there will be a bigger scene once it gets out to more people? And roms as well? I know it's hard to live up to the Samsung hype but still...

Don't know what to tell you. This phone rocks. The battery the screen the form factor. Couple it with the latest cpu and Graphic ram (what ever that is). This phone packs the best spec right now. The camera is no slouch either with OIS it is up there with the best.
As for developments, this device is so ready. Right now there is root and twrp and CWM. Read it somewhere about kernel source is released (need to fact check on that). This device is more than ready for development.
But still people are waiting one the fence until the released of nexus 5 to make their choices.
But for me I have already made my mine with 3000mah vs 2300mah battery there is nothing nexus 5 can do to beat this.

I've had the S4 (twice), and it doesn't even compare to this phone. The S4 was an un-optimized piece of trash imo. This phone is the opposite where everything is quick and the features actually make sense.
The screen is better, performance is better and battery life is much better. Just grab this phone, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome phone, just got it, camera and vid are awesome, cam software could be improved a bit but really it's the best phone I've used, def like it better than s4.. and the nex5 battery is a deal breaker, coupled with an 8mp camera I read it's supposed to have... definitely G2.

You're going to love it! Now that I think about it, I haven't had a phone where just about everyone who I've asked is in love with it and raves about it this much (check the other forums S4, HTC One, Note 3, 5s etc)
The G2 is that good. I had the HTC One for a week & took it back to get the G2 once I saw it at the store & don't miss the One @ all. I even waited 2 extra weeks to get the white version.
I'm very particular about the phones I get & how I use them. Trust me, this one will also get put through its paces. In the short time I've had it, I can tell you, its no slouch, the battery is insane, it just won't die no matter what I try to do & this is on the stock ROM!!!!
All I've done it turn off Carrier IQ which you can do without Root! Whoa. You'll see in a few days when you get it.

There's a Dev on the forums who mentioned they're making ROMs for our phone. In a few weeks this place is going to be buzzing & you'll be amazed @ what your new phone can do

I don't normally jump into these types of threads but I have to voice my opinion. I've always been a Samsung fan and love their phones. I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus and have had plenty of hands on experience with the S3. This phone easily trumps both, hands down. The speed of this phone is amazing, the screen is beautiful and not over saturated like the AMOLED displays, the features are endless (I've had the phone since Thursday and I'm still finding little things out) and development is sure to pick up soon. The rear button placement does take a day or so to get used to but with the Knock On feature I hardly ever press the power button. Go through the 30 Day Challenge videos on PhoneDog about the phone. Their biggest gripe is they claim the phone is TOO FAST!

niceto see the note cheats on all but one, LG only on 2.
Anyway whos to say these are cheats, if you run your mobile optimally by changing characteristics, it can hardly be called a cheat, its more optimalization.
also as its been debunked a thousand times over, benchmarks say nothing, its all about your percieved performance.
What is wrong with maxing out to phone setting before benchmark? It is not like they faked the score or anything. I remember my PC days when we used to freeze the cpu and overclock the **** out of it. That may be the extreme example but it is what your hardware is capable off.

Lets just say I'm surprised how good this phone is. The best smart phone I've every owned. My last phone was a GNex with stock 4.3.
Coming from the s4, the screen ALONE makes the G2 a winner to me. The outdoor performance of the g2 KILLS amoled.
Battery life is amazing. I average about 15 hours a charge. Heck, today I'm going on 13 hours since I unplugged it and got 47% battery left. (Location service turned off. I use an app called "smart shortcuts to give me a shortcut to location services for when I need Maps)
Performance wise, this is as smooth as 4.3 gpe ROM I was running on my s4. And that's STOCK.
those factors alone actually made rethink about rooting. But I needed to root to hide those dang on soft keys

It doesn't have the cutout for the mic above the flash like on the AT&T version. Other than that, I don't see a difference.

I too must confess, (like anyone really cares), I have been a fan of the Galaxy line since they started making them, and I was impressed with both the S4 and N3; was even contemplating picking that up, since my wife and I were due for an upgrade in a few days, she is bent on going for the N3 so that was out of the question, (can't have us both walking around with the same phone), but then I came across the LG G2 on one of those comparison videos and immediately fell in love. After that I went searching for information all over, which brought me back here, because I knew that if this phone was really as hot as I thought it was then it was sure to be buzzing on this forum. And I'm glad to see you guys don't disappoint. You've helped me make my choice that much easier. And can't wait to get my hands on this phone in a few days.
I do have a few questions though:
Is the LG OS on top of the Android OS easy to deal with or is it cumbersome and superfluous?
Would I truly miss not having an micro SD card slot, or is the phone so much ****s and giggles that I won't even notice?
What was the longest time someone has gone without charging their battery, with a full assortment of apps running?
So I've given up on not buying a new phone every time a new "super phone" comes out. I'll just have to strategically do trades to minimize my cost.

The note is a great phone, no doubt about it, really the best phone I've had so far. The new N5 is a beautiful device. Pure Android (yes, stock android is truly awesome. It's simple, intuitive, and straight forward... No overlays to slow it down), anyone consider switching devices or getting the n5 as a backup phone?

I have definitely thought about picking up a Nexus 5. That low price for a great device is definitely doable. It would be nice to switch it up every now and then also. I don't on the other hand think that as of right now I would use anything other than the Note 3 for my daily driver.
I have been thinking about this all week. I even made a column with each device and listed the plus's for each phone. When I was done I had two on the N5 side(price, pure android) and a lot more on the Note 3(Size, specs, spen, multi window support, better camera software, etc). That pretty much made up my mind to keep my Note 3
I too thought about picking up an N5. Great specs....and development is sooooo much easier on a Nexus device. I just wish there was a 64gb version.
I saw a report on it this morning and it seems that the camera is horrible on the N5... and that it takes forever to focus, take a picture, etc.
I will not get a phone with a smaller screen ..

Lol kinda this. I have one and it's sooooo quick and snappy, but I'm definitely going to sell it due to the screen size
Yeah...... I thought about it for a minute. No SD, non removable battery, REALLY horrible camera, could do with a 32 Gb, and USB OTG, just can't do it. I'm stock rooted, via kingoapp, after soft bricking my 1st(thanx to Sprint) and have removed and/or froze all the bloat, and have been getting my flash fix by using Apex, and the many free themes. Also, if you notice, there is hardly any development going on, I suspect because this phone is a BEAST! I have combined, on device, nearly 100Gb! My battery lasts from wake up til bed, mostly on 4G. Camera is superb, and I have had zero call/sound quality issues! 2.3 Gb Quad Snapdragon! Fantastic display....I mean really, what more could you realistically ask for? Now, having said that, I believe late 2014, and 2015 are going to be very interesting.....til then, Note 3 for me.:good:
